Cofundador del grupo inglés junto a Rick Davies en 1968, tras formar parte de People Like Us y de Argosy junto a Elton John, en 1983 abandonó la formación para iniciar su carrera en solitario. On today's show we chat with Emerson Day!For soulful singer-songwriter Emerson Day, storytelling came naturally from a young age. Writing songs as early as 8 years old, she was influenced by the sounds of a southern rock guitar and an old church piano. Growing up on her family's farm in Southern Maryland, she would sit outside playing guitar and singing for hours. God put a song in her heart long before she ever realized it.Driven by career and athletic aspirations, Day graduated from University as a decorated Lacrosse player with her degree in Homeland Security. The same competitive nature which drew her to sports and a career in federal law enforcement, quickly engaged when she felt God calling her to pursue music. In a true leap of faith, she began pursuing a music career. Thursday through Saturday she began playing shows taking request in local bars and venues in her hometown. But it wasn't until she started leading worship at a small church in North Carolina, that God showed her the true path he had for her. One of the Sundays she led worship, someone gave their life to Christ right in front of her at the altar. This moment solidified Emerson's calling and passion for Christian music. She never looked back.During the next year, doors continued to open, and Emerson signed her first record deal in 2023 with Fair Trade Services. She's been writing and recording music, showcasing her testimony through every strong, raspy note and powerful lyric. January 2024 marks her debut to Christian music on Micah Tyler's next single "People Like Us (feat. Emerson Day).”Her latest single, ‘Get Behind Me', is out now! emersondaymusic.com @emersondaymusic christianmusicguys.com @christianmusicguys

Why do we so often surround ourselves with people just like us? In this thought-provoking conversation, Elizabeth Oldfield speaks to author and social innovator Jon Yates about how 'people like me' syndrome plays out in our personal lives, communities, and society at large. We have noticed this theme pop up numerous times in our latest series and so join us as we look back on series 11 and explore the dangers of living in echo chambers, our innate desire for acceptance and discuss practical ways we can overcome our natural inclination towards the familiar and embrace meaningful connections across difference. Welcome to The B-Side, from The Film Stage. Here we talk about movie stars! Not the movies that made them famous or kept them famous, but the ones that they made in between. Today we talk about the best Chris - Chris Pine of course! Our B-Sides include Small Town Saturday Night, People Like Us, The Finest Hours, Outlaw King, All The Old Knives, and Poolman. It's a packed episode! And it's just Conor and Dan, ripping it up like the old days. A lot of the conversation revolves around how charming Pine is. There's also discussion of that underwhelming ending of The Finest Hours, what about Small Town Saturday Night resonates with young filmmakers, the brave opening of Outlaw King, the old-fashioned crackle of All The Old Knives (and that incredible restaurant location), and the lackluster direction of People Like Us. Questions are asked such as: Is there anything better than a tired spy? Who is the best Jack Ryan? Why does this Big Daddy clip feature the funniest ADR line in the history of cinema? Additional topics include Jordan and Dan's fateful trip to see an early screening of Avatar in late 2009, the stark difference (despite career similarities) between Pine and Ryan Reynolds, the incredible show Psych, and this spot-on Bilge Ebiri article about the Argylle release and why it matters. Finally, Conor and Dan try to understand why people hate the very charming, very Los Angeles Poolman so much. Though there should've been more pool stuff in Poolman! One correction: Safe House came out 2012, not 2010. Sorry about that! Be sure to give us a follow on Twitter and Facebook at @TFSBSide. It helps that band biographer Richard Campbell (@richcbart) and I were faced with a woman who was ready to come clean, to be so vulnerable, so funny….and SO RAW. In Part 5 of this without-precedent 16-hour interview, Michelle burrows headfirst into some seriously traumatic territory, namely: The time John Phillips saved her from being murdered; The two horrifying images she pictures whenever she thinks of the sessions for The Mamas & The Papas' final LP, People Like Us; And a frank discussion of her most forbidden topic…her 8-day marriage to Dennis Hopper. Braver co-founders Darain Faraz and Mike Levaggi on the PRmoment podcastWelcome to the PRmoment Podcast. On today's show, I'm chatting with two of Braver's co-founders: Darain Faraz and Mike Levaggi.Previously, Darain spent 11 years in-house at LinkedIn. Mike's career has included roles at Seventy Seven, Hope&Glory and Snap.Alongside Sheeraz Gulsher, they launched Braver in September last year. Braver is a talent consultancy specialising in helping PR employers increase the diversity of their teams. Before we start, here is a plug for our latest launch: our new subscription training service for senior folks within agencies' PRmoment Leaders. Do take a look and let us know if you like it. Thanks also so much to the PRmoment Podcast sponsors the PRCA.Darain and Mike, welcome to the show3.30 mins Mike talks us through Braver's approach to trying to help PR with its diversity problem.6 mins Darain talks us through why he and his brother Sherazz launched People Like Us.“My brother (Sheeraz) was baffled when he landed in the (PR) industry. He asked what's going on? Why is it quite so homogeneous? We should be doing something about this. He was rightly furious. I'd become a bit apathetic about it.”10 mins Do we believe employers in the PR sector want to be more diverse? “The reality is that we're inching along in our progress… The industry is keen to make progress, but it's not sure how to get there.”12 mins What is PR's ethnicity pay gap?“PR's ethnicity pay gap is 22.3 %.” “There is obviously a point when people leave the sector…from the conversations we've had, it's because they have felt they weren't given the same opportunities and promotion at the mid to senior levels. Agencies have to do 2 things: hire intentionally so their workforces more accurately represent the audiences they are communicating to 2) make sure that their workplace gives equal opportunity for people to thrive.”25 mins How are PR employers trying to become more diverse? What are they getting right? What are they getting wrong?29 mins What does best practice look like when it comes to increasing the diversity of your PR team?“For it to be effective, you need an ongoing dialogue between people across your organisation and senior leadership.”“Public sharing of salary bands is really crucial. so important. We (Braver) refuse to work on roles where we can't share the salary.”33 mins Are Rooney Rule shortlists a good idea in PR?35 mins Many PR firms are doing better at increasing the diversity of their employees, but are they getting the inclusion part wrong.42 mins To what extent are clients, through procurement policies, only buying PR from agencies with diverse teams?“There is a moral imperative.. but ultimately, it is a commercial imperative.”

We kick off 2024 with Leon Cheo, the creator, writer and director of People Like Us, a gay Singaporean web series that has been nominated for an International Emmy. Leon recounts various milestones in the show's history, from how it was developed with Action For Aids and gayhealth.sg to raise HIV and Aids awareness, to Season 3's recent premiere and inclusion of a trans character. Leon tells us why it is important that his characters are anything but saints, and why the show does not censor itself for people who are NOT like us. While discussing the series, Josh confronts his struggle with bodyshaming, while Sam Jo and Leon commiserate on having to hide aspects of their queer lives from their family. We also learn that aside from that Kelly Clarkson song, People Like Us is both slang for "homosexual" and the name of an advocacy group for LGBT equality.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

We don't make decisions in a vacuum, and neither do our clients.Believe it or not, a huge motivator behind our decisions to buy something (or not) is based on what we perceive those around us to be doing. You only have to look as far as the success of influencers to see this at work. It all comes down to a simple question, “do people like me do things like this?”And the same is true of your potential clients. The templates this month help you highlight who you and your people are, and also (just as importantly) who they are not. Ready to get more consistent with your marketing? Join the Consistency Club! Have you found yourself questioning your gifts and if you can really make, move and leave millions? Are you a big picture thinker and visionary with lots of ideas and very little implementation to show for it? Has your greatness been diagnosed and labeled in a way that might stifle your very genius? If you are shaking your head "yes," I know how you feel because I have felt the same. This episode is for people like us - brilliant, big picture thinkers and visionaries who are often misunderstood on our journey to greatness. When I was in grade school, after one of our annual test periods, I was called into the office and informed that I was considered "gifted." Being gifted came with all sorts of baggage and expectations. When I became an entrepreneur, I questioned everything and often felt like I was a nomad, wondering aimlessly vs the child who had been labeled gifted in my youth. My guest, Justin Breen, says that an entrepreneur is "the most damaged person with the best coping skills." People like us, he says, are true geniuses that simplify the problems of the world. People like us - gifted, talented, high achieving entrepreneurs and business owners - are what make the world and businesses move. If you've ever felt out of place and that your greatness and genius was questioned at every turn, grab your pen and Move to Millions Podcast notebook for some true inspiration so that you can continue to shake the planet. Listen in now to discover: The top traits of the most gifted people in the world How to prioritize your family over your business and grow it to the next level 3 keys to unearthing your next level of genius Why simplification of your life is the key to scaling and sustaining your growth Two questions to ask yourself every day to continue to be the best version of yourself And so much more...
