We've been in communication with Ida for years and have been desperate to meet her in person. When she said she'd be in Utah for the holidays, we were elated!! Ida joined the church a few years ago, despite having many reasons to go on different paths. While looking into religion, she decided to give the Book of Mormon a chance after being cast in the Book of Mormon Musical. She read the Book of Mormon quickly and knew it was true but was unsure about baptism. We don't want to spoil the ending but this story is absolutely incredible, full of skepticism, peace, difficulty, and hope. You don't want to miss this!! Ida is as charismatic and charming as they come. You will love her story!

President Nelson challenged us to study and learn the blessings of the Abrahamic Covenant at the October 2020 General Conference. Kerry has literally written the book on what the Covenant is, what blessings are promised to be and how to recognize when the covenant is being spoken about in the scriptures by recognizing the language used.

Kwaku shares how his seeking for the truth lead to his conversion to the LDS Church. Kwaku’s journey to becoming a Mormon started when he was a young kind in Cyprus, Texas. He visited different churches and asked many people what they thought the truth was but he still wasn’t able to find exactly what he was looking for. During this time, Mitt Romney was running for President of the United States and “The Book of Mormon Musical” was really popular. So Mormons became the talk of the town where he was from. He started working at a restaurant where he met a Mormon girl who eventually invited him to church with her. At church he met the sister missionaries and began investigating the church. After he prayed about the Book of Mormon and came to learn of the Plan of Salvation and baptisms for the Dead, he knew that the LDS Church was the church of God on earth. He was baptized soon after. What is your conversion story? Send us an Instagram DM or Facebook Message about how you knew the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was the right church!

Matthew and James discuss the opening song from the Book of Mormon Musical, 'Hello'. Plus, what it’s like to meet Latter-day Saint missionaries; how the Book of Mormon (text rather than the musical) is specifically used by Latter-day Saint missionaries to evangelise to non-Mormons. They talk about how accurately the show portrays Mormons and Mormonism.
The Book of Mormon musical may not be an accurate reflection of the true book, but did you know that the Book of Mormon contains its own music? Book of Mormon peoples used music to worship, fight, celebrate, and praise. Read at bit.ly/know500

Hosts Briana Phipps and Jacque Borowski discuss the musical The Book of Mormon. The Book of Mormon is a musical comedy about two young Mormon missionaries who travel to Africa to preach the Mormon religion. First staged in 2011, the play satirizes various Mormon beliefs and practices. The script, lyrics, and music were written by Robert Lopez, Trey Parker, and Matt Stone. Best known for creating the animated comedy South Park, Parker and Stone co-created the music with Lopez, the co-composer/co-lyricist of Avenue Q, and, subsequently, Frozen. The Book of Mormon follows two Mormon missionaries as they attempt to share their scriptures with the inhabitants of a remote Ugandan village. The earnest young men are challenged by the lack of interest of the locals, who are preoccupied with more pressing troubles such as AIDS, famine, and oppression from the local warlord. In 2003, Trey Parker, Robert Lopez, and Matt Stone began developing the musical, mee
“The real Book of Mormon is on my shelf, and next to it, the Book of Mormon Musical. And I’m spiritually enriched by both.” Ask anyone who isn’t a Mormon what they know about the faith — chances are, they’ll cite something they learned from South Park or The Book of Mormon. They’ll also probably say that Mormons are the nicest people you’ll ever meet. Derrick Clements has humor and infinite patience for being associated with this stereotype, and he doesn’t let it undermine the thoughtfulness or depth of his faith.

NY Times columnist David Brooks very much enjoyed the Broadway musical "The Book of Mormon," but, as he articulates in his 21 April 2011 column "Creed or Chaos," he believes the play's authors end up celebrating a "vague, uplifting, nondoctrinal" type of religion that can't last and doesn't motivate people to perform "heroic acts of service," such as serving missions to third-world nations. As a result, he uses the musical as a springboard for celebrating the virtues of thriving religions, which he says have "communal theologies, doctrines and codes of conduct rooted in claims of absolute truth." In this episode, host Dan Wotherspoon and panelists Joanna Brooks, John Dehlin, and Brian Johnston use Brooks' column as a springboard of their own into many aspects of Mormonism, including both the light and shadow sides of its rigor, demands, and messages (and the ways these messages are communicated), and what contributions any of these have to those who are unsure about staying LDS or who are seeking ways to engage with the church and fellow members in healthy ways even though they may be a bit "out of the box" in some of their views.
