What happens when someone goes looking for the supernatural in all the wrong places — and the real God meets them anyway? Phil Pringle shares the story of his own conversion at 19, when curiosity about Ouija boards opened a door to genuine spiritual torment, and a small Pentecostal church in Christchurch, New Zealand, became the place where everything turned. From a bike ride across town with his girlfriend Christine, to a room full of elderly believers laying hands on him, to the moment fear left and the Holy Spirit filled him — this is testimony that the same God who delivered then delivers now. This story is more than nostalgia. It is a reminder that the power of the Holy Spirit is not theory — it transforms lives, breaks chains, and births revival. Within nine months of that night, over a thousand people came to Christ out of a single house. That same Spirit still moves. He still fills, still frees, still sends. Whatever door has been opened in your life, and whatever darkness has tried to settle in, the name of Jesus is still the name above every name. Listen, and let faith rise that God can do it again — in you, through you, and around you. Phil Pringle explores Acts 2, describing the Holy Spirit's outpouring at Pentecost, Peter's Spirit-filled sermon, and the immediate response of 3,000 people coming to faith and being baptised. The episode highlights the early church's rhythms—apostles' teaching, fellowship, breaking bread, prayer, daily meeting, and radical sharing—and calls listeners to live as a Spirit-filled, unified community every day. Phil Pringle explores Acts 1–2, recounting the disciples gathered in unity, Jesus' family joining in prayer, and the sudden coming of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost. He explains how the Spirit brought unique passion and power to each believer, enabled miraculous speech in other languages, and launched the church as witnesses to the nations. Along the way Phil emphasizes the importance of assembling together, remaining unified, and recognizing the Spirit's work rather than mocking it, closing with encouragement to be filled with boldness and purpose. Fifty days. That's the gap between an empty tomb and a room full of fire, and it's no accident. On Sinai, the law came down and three thousand people died. On Pentecost, the Spirit came down and three thousand people were born again. The same number, the same mountain of God, but two completely different kingdoms: one that brings death, and one that brings life. This is where the book of Acts begins, and Phil Pringle opens it up to show you why Luke, a doctor, a man of logic and science, ended up writing more about the Holy Spirit than almost anyone else in the New Testament. Because once you've seen what the Spirit actually does, you can't unsee it. Jesus tells His disciples to wait in Jerusalem, and they pray for ten days straight before heaven breaks open. That same pattern is the invitation to you. The baptism of the Holy Spirit isn't a one-time charge. It's a life lived plugged in, recharged again and again in the presence of God. Without that power, we're a phone with a dead battery: full of potential, capable of nothing. With it, we become witnesses to the ends of the earth, ready for the day Jesus returns the same way He left. As you walk towards Pentecost Sunday, let your hunger rise. Wait on Him. Get filled again. The Spirit who fell then is still falling now. Faith crashes are real, and nobody talks about them honestly enough. Every person who has ever prayed with everything they had — for healing, for restoration, for a door to open — knows what it feels like when the answer doesn't come. The question isn't whether it will happen. The question is what you do when it does. Phil Pringle draws from decades of pastoral experience and his own story of public setback — including eight years of council rejections and front-page newspaper headlines — to offer something more powerful than polished optimism: a clear, grounded path back to faith. He teaches the difference between aggressive faith and quiet trust, reminding us that Romans 8 holds even when we can't see how. He points to Paul, bitten by a snake after surviving a shipwreck, choosing to see opportunity where others saw catastrophe — and sparking revival across an entire island. The breakthrough, Phil reminds us, always comes at the end of many attempts. The last blow of the hammer is only possible because of every blow that came before it. If you're in the middle of a faith crash, this is the word you need to hear today. Every believer wants to hear from God — but most of us aren't sure we actually do. We wonder whether the quiet inner nudge is divine guidance or just our own thinking, and so we ignore it, go our own way, and often end up right back where we started. In this powerful short teaching, Phil Pringle brings honest, practical clarity to one of the most personal questions in the Christian life: what does God's voice actually sound like, and how do you know when He's speaking to you? Drawing on decades of walking with the Holy Spirit, Phil shares how God communicates through peace rather than confusion, through a quiet inner knowing that grows clearer the more you learn to trust it. He recounts a remarkable miracle where a nine-year-old girl, declared brain dead by her doctors, walked out of hospital within three days — the turning point a direct word of the Lord spoken in faith. He reflects on Isaiah's promise that you will hear a voice behind you saying this is the way, and on Paul's reminder in 2 Timothy that God has given us not a spirit of fear, but power, love, and a sound mind. The bottom line, Phil says, is this: God is not a poor communicator. It's more often that we're not great at hearing. Slow down, seek Him, trust what you sense, and seek wise confirmation. His voice will become clearer. You can stake your life on it.
When was the last time you got carried away by the presence of the Holy Spirit? He is not just a force—He desires a relationship with us, and empowers us to fully walk in all that Jesus has accomplished. Challenges may come, but when we stay filled with the Spirit, we will rise above them.Pastor Phil Pringle draws from Ezekiel 37 to reveal the Holy Spirit's power to form Christ in us, empower our witness, and breathe life wherever He moves—that we might live, and overcome!
We hope you enjoy this weeks message by special guest Pastor Phil Pringle.
Read Ezekiel 37:1-11 There are ministries that come and go as times pass by because the anointing oil, the outpouring of God's presence was something that was not sought after daily. If our lives have gotten boring, the beauty is that we can get that fire back in our bones by earnestly seeking His presence. Getting fresh oil in our life means getting a new attitude and positioning ourselves in a way that the Hand of God can come upon us, it's a constant posture of gratitude and worship instead of whining and complaining. All of us are always being updated by God as everytime we get plugged into Him we are not only getting recharged but we are getting renewed into the image of Him. However most of us are more interested in his hand than his face so instead of seeking him for his blessings it's when we seek Him for Him that we will experience fresh oil. The encounter happens when we realise that: 1] Prayer isn't about praying, it's about being in a relationship. 2] We won't be in control when God is moving 3] When you take steps towards Him, God moves in As Chrisitans we will end up either becoming fountains of living water or drains. We want to be a group of people that give life to those around us because we are called to be salt and light in this world. When we are carried away in the presence of the Lord we step back with more joy, love and a renewed sense of life! Maybe God will fill us up and drop us into a valley but it's only because He is now equipping us to be people that will prophesy life into dry bones! Application: Have you been satisfied with yesterdays oil? When was the last time you sought God's presence just to be with Him? Prayer: Lord here I am, to be still and know that you are God. I give this moment to you, without all distraction. Meet me and encounter me here and renew the fresh oil in this heart
Once God starts a work in you and fills you with the Holy Spirit, He takes you on a journey. The baptism in the Holy Spirit will empower you to handle any situation in life. On this Pentecost weekend, the Holy Spirit wants to guide you in His power and the authority of Jesus; to be an influence that will bless those around you.
Listen in as I, Phil Pringle, explore the boundless impact of generosity on unlocking God's provision in our lives, drawing from the timeless wisdom of Philippians 4:19. Discover how the principle of sowing and reaping is not just a biblical concept but a practical pathway to experiencing abundance. I underscore the power of giving our best in worship and commitment, just like the story of Ebenezer and his animals from the teachings of Malachi. Embark on a profound discussion about the spiritual law of sowing and reaping, illustrated through personal stories and biblical narratives such as Achan's transgression and Joshua's battles. I share how these lessons have shaped our church's approach to challenges and the way we view our contributions to society. The conversation also includes practical anecdotes about giving, like the tale of a guitar and a surfboard, which serve as poignant reminders of how our generosity can echo into future blessings and build a legacy. Join us as we embrace this journey of growth, challenging ourselves to be generous-hearted individuals who make a difference in our communities. In this episode, I explore the challenging journey of overcoming unintended offenses and finding freedom from the heavy burden of grudges. I share insights from the Gospel of Mark, where Jesus faces rejection in his hometown, illustrating how easily we can take offense, even when none is meant. This discussion aims to help listeners discern the origins of their pain—whether from intentional harm or misperception—and to guide them toward healing and letting go of past hurts. Through personal reflection and scriptural wisdom, I offer encouragement to those struggling with forgiveness and the importance of surrounding oneself with friends who support healing. One of the most impactful stories I share is about John, a man consumed by bitterness after a betrayal. Through patient conversations and spiritual guidance, I witnessed John's remarkable journey from deep resentment to a moment of profound forgiveness. This act of letting go not only brought him physical healing but also liberated his soul from the shackles of hatred. This story echoes the transformative power of forgiveness, as exemplified by Christ, and serves as a testament to the freedom and peace that comes from releasing our grip on the past. My prayer for every listener is to find the strength to forgive and embrace the future with hope. What does it take to lead a global spiritual movement? For Pastor Phil Pringle, it begins with discipleship. Join us today on the AVAIL podcast as he unpacks the essence of leadership from his book, Disciple, and shares how, though cultural disruption has scattered many, disciple-making is still and will always be the answer!
Guest preacher Phil Pringle delivers a powerful reminder in this sermon that unless a grain of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it produces much grain (John 12:24). Being a follower of Jesus involves death, pain and suffering. It is only when a Christian completely surrenders what he has to the Lord, when his vision and dream dies, that God brings life to that dead situation. This happened when the little boy gave his small lunch to Jesus and wound up feeding the multitudes. This also happened when Abraham brought Isaac up the mountain to sacrifice him in obedience to God. Be encouraged by this message to not withhold what you have from God. God will take you if you give yourself to Him.

God himself has created us to reign like Kings with pathways to victory; and Gideon's story is certainly one of these. From a path that looked tragic, oppressive, and unsolvable, with God, he allowed Gideon to see victory which was not only for himself but for all of Israel. This devotional with Phil Pringle unpacks the book of Judges, chapters 6 to 8, which highlights Gideon's journey as one that required the most faith but the journey that saw incredible breakthrough for a people group through God's power and presence. Let this podcast encourage you to listen to God's truths about you instead of the false facts we so often dwell on. “For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline." (2 Timothy 1:7 - NLT)
This week Phil Pringle speaks to Eli and Kelly Nelson, Pastors of My City Church Omaha. Parenting and pastoring can be tricky to balance, but Kelly's tips and approach are very wise in that family really does need to come first. “People can always find alternative help or another pastor, but your kids can't find another Father or Mother”. This episode covers topics around navigating seasons in personal and church life, along with how this looks as bi-vocational pastors. We pray this podcast blesses you today!
