Is your soul parched and longing for more? Discover the power of living water that transforms desolate deserts into flourishing Edens. This message uncovers the depth and beauty of Jesus' invitation to come and drink from the waters of eternal life. By examining the cultural and historical context of the Feast of Tabernacles, we learn how this symbol of water was vital for survival and spiritual enlightenment. Dive into how Christ offers each of us a personal Eden—overflowing with love, creativity, and purpose.John 7:37-43On the last and greatest day of the festival, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.”By this he meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were later to receive. Up to that time the Spirit had not been given, since Jesus had not yet been glorified. On hearing his words, some of the people said, “Surely this man is the Prophet.”Others said, “He is the Messiah.”Still others asked, “How can the Messiah come from Galilee? Does not Scripture say that the Messiah will come from David's descendants and from Bethlehem, the town where David lived?” Thus the people were divided because of Jesus.Reflection Questions:1. What does it truly mean to walk in the Spirit and how does it shape your identity? In this heartfelt message, explore the layers of walking by the Spirit and its impact on your daily life. Delve into the concept of freedom from the law through love, and the role of community in our spiritual transformation. Embrace a life of relational fruitfulness as you navigate the challenges and joys of Christian living. Learn to partner with the Holy Spirit and fellow believers for a journey of continuous growth in grace and truth.Galatians 5:13-2613 You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh[a]; rather, serve one another humbly in love. 14 For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”[b] 15 If you bite and devour each other, watch out or you will be destroyed by each other.16 So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. 17 For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever[c] you want. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.19 The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; 20 idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions 21 and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. 24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. 26 Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other.Reflection Questions:1. What steps can you take this week to ensure you're walking in the Spirit and not indulging the sinful nature?2. How can you invite others into your life to provide honest feedback and help in your spiritual journey?3. Can our unity truly transform the world? In this powerful message, Ps Peter challenges and invites us to become the answer to Jesus' prayer for unity among believers, referencing John 17:23, where Jesus prays for His followers to be 'perfected in unity.' We're reminded that our oneness as believers is meant to reflect the oneness of the Trinity, serving as a powerful testimony to the world. Ps Peter highlights two main hindrances to this unity: our culture's emphasis on individualism and our struggle to choose love in difficult situations. As we reflect on these challenges, we're encouraged to move from a 'weak group culture' to a 'strong group culture,' where we consider how our actions impact the community rather than just ourselves. This shift requires humility, surrender, and vulnerability – qualities that mirror Christ's own example. Ultimately, we're called to grow in self-awareness and take responsibility for our brokenness, seeking healing and transformation so that we can truly become one and reveal God's love to the world.Oneness in Biblical Context1. Jesus' redefinition of familial bonds to include all believers. How Jesus expanded the concept of family to encompass all who follow God's will, thereby creating a new spiritual kinship among believers.2. The obstacles presented by individualistic culture in achieving unity. The challenge of overcoming individualistic culture to achieve unity, advocating for practices that cultivate strong group culture and interdependent relationships within the church community.3. The importance of self-awareness and taking responsibility for personal growth. Encouraging us to recognise and address our own brokenness to foster unity and love within the community.Discussion Questions:1. What is one group or community you are a part of where you feel it has a strong group culture? 2. What has been your experience of individualistic culture? Ever wondered what it truly means to be "slow to anger and rich in love"? Dive into this week's exploration of God's profound nature inspired by Psalm 145.Psalm 145:8-9 - "The Lord is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in love. The Lord is good to all; he has compassion on all he has made."In our exploration of God's nature, we delve into His patience and rich love, as described in Psalm 145. We're reminded that God's patience isn't passive waiting, but an active part of His redemptive plan. Like the father who waited for his prodigal son's return, God patiently waits for us to turn to Him. This challenges us to reflect on our own patience in relationships and in our spiritual journey. Are we willing to wait on God's timing, trusting His redemptive story for ourselves and others? The concept of 'hesed' - God's covenant love - further enriches our understanding. This isn't just an emotion, but a committed, action-oriented love that goes beyond duty. As we contemplate this, we're called to embody this love in our communities, building lasting, supportive relationships that reflect God's unwavering commitment to us.Reflection Questions:1. How do you balance the desire for immediate outcomes with the patience required for God's redemptive plan?2. What practical steps can you take to cultivate chesed love in your relationships?3. How do the principles of covenantal love challenge you to rethink your role in community?Further Reading:The Pursuit of God by A.W. TozerCovenantal Nomism by E.P. How does God's unparalleled strength and endless compassion redefine how we see Him and ourselves?Psalm 145I will exalt You, my God the King;I will praise Your name for ever and ever.Every day I will praise Youand extol Your name for ever and ever.Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise; His greatness no one can fathom....In this powerful message, we're invited to explore the profound question: 'Who is like the Lord?' We're challenged to meditate on God's wonderful works, both in Scripture and in our own lives, as a pathway to deeper praise and understanding of His nature. Psalm 145 serves as our guide, revealing God's character through His deeds. We're reminded that God's grace and compassion are not just observations, but His very self-revelation. The story of the Prodigal Son is beautifully unpacked, illustrating God's limitless grace and compassion. This message encourages us to replace thoughts of shame and unworthiness with the truth of God's unconditional love, urging us to embrace His grace fully in our daily lives.Reflection Questions:1. "What does it truly mean to live as a "one for the other"" in your relationship with God and others?Colossians 3:1-4 (Message Version) "So if you're serious about living this new resurrection life with Christ, act like it. Pursue the things over which Christ presides. Don't shuffle along, eyes to the ground, absorbed with the things right in front of you. Look up, and be alert to what is going on around Christ—that's where the action is. See things from his perspective. Your old life is dead. Your new life, which is your real life—even though invisible to spectators—is with Christ in God. He is your life."Ps Wayne's closes out our "One Anothers" series by diving into the essence of relational living in the kingdom of God, highlighting the importance of the ""one another"" commands in scripture. By loving others as Christ loves us, we display the nature of God and draw others into a life-transforming relationship with Him. This outpouring of love stems from our union with Jesus, characterised by kindness, compassion, and humility, among other virtues. Our life in Christ challenges us to live as neighbours to everyone, reflecting God's unconditional love and fostering reconciliation.Reflection Questions:1. How can you actively set your mind on things above in your daily routine?2. What are some practical ways you can express agape love to those around you, even when it's challenging?3. When you speak, do others see evidence of the Spirit's work within you? "Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God..." 1 John 4:7-21.In exploring the 'One Another' commands, we're challenged to reflect on how our speech and actions embody God's love. The central message revolves around 1 John 4, reminding us that 'God is love' and that our love for one another is a reflection of His image. This isn't just about Christian niceties, but about allowing God's love to have its complete work in us. We're called to encourage, build up, and spur one another on towards love and good deeds. This isn't passive, but an energetic, shared experience of living out our faith together. The beauty of confession within community is highlighted, not as a burden, but as a pathway to redemption and transformation. As we navigate the complexities of human relationships, we're reminded that the fruit of the Spirit matures within community, shaping how we respond to hurts and frustrations. This message challenges us to show up authentically in our relationships, allowing God's love to be the foundation of our lives and interactions.Reflection Questions:1. When was the last time you used your speech to genuinely uplift someone? How did it impact them?2. Can you think of a time when confession led to healing and stronger relationships within your community?3. Is there someone you need to reconcile with through confession and prayer?4. How can you use your words this week to encourage someone in your church community?Ps Caitlin's LiturgyAccomplish your purposes among us, O God. Tune our hearts to the voice of your Spirit. Wake us to be present to You and to one another in these shared lives. For it is You, O Lord, who have gathered us from our various places and You alone who know our hearts and our needs. Among us are some who arrive anxious, some who are lonely, some who suffer pain or sorrow. May we in our joys find grace to enter the sorrow of others. Among us are some who arrive rejoicing, hearts made light by good news, good health, good anticipation. May we in our sorrows find grace to embrace the joy of others. Let us prize these moments and care for one another deeply for each of us and our relationships to one another are precious and fleeting. Let us prize these moments and care for one another deeply for each of us and our relationships to one another are precious and eternal. Breathe upon our gathering, O Spirit of God. Grant us each a place to humbly receive and to faithfully serve that we might know in this brief gathering a foretaste of that greater communion yet to come. O Father, enlarge our hearts. O Spirit, expand our vision. O Christ, establish your kingdom among us. Be at work even now, O Lord. May your will in us be accomplished. Have you ever really stopped to think about what it means to treat each other as brothers and sisters in Christ?"Both the one who makes people holy and those who are made holy are of the same family. So Jesus is not ashamed to call them brothers and sisters." — Hebrews 2:11In this message, we explore the profound and often overlooked kinship ethos of the ancient world and its relevancy to our lives as believers today. Drawing from scriptures and cultural insights, Ps Russell highlights how treating fellow believers as true family members can transform our communities. We dig into understanding the importance of mutual love, cooperation without competition, trust, and sharing resources. He challenges us to rethink our preconceived notions of church relationships and adopt a more sacrificial, inclusive approach, echoing the radical love Jesus exhibited and taught His followers.Reflection Questions:1. In what ways do I consciously or unconsciously compete with fellow believers rather than collaborate with them?2. How does the concept of kinship as described affect my understanding of church and community life?3. What practical steps can I take to live out the principle of sharing and mutual support in my everyday life?4. What if the secret to revival in our church is not a sudden wave but a rising tide of intentional community and fervent prayer?"Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching." (Hebrews 10:23)In this week's message, Pastor Aaron reminds us that revival might not always appear as a sudden, giant wave but as a rising tide through incremental everyday faithfulness. He highlighted global examples of revival, underscoring the importance of community, shared vision, and collective prayer. Emphasising the themes of gathering to kindle our faith and pushing each other towards love and good deeds, he urged us to focus on humility and hunger for God. We must be wary of distractions and strive to love and serve authentically, allowing God's love to guide our efforts.Reflection Questions:1. "What role does sacrifice play in living a faithful and impactful Christian life?"Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful." (Hebrews 10:23)In this week's message, Pastor Aaron explores the theme of sacrifice and its vital role in our spiritual journey. The central scripture, Hebrews 10:23-25, encourages us to hold fast to our faith and spur one another on towards love and good deeds. We're reminded that the kingdom of God is built on sacrificial, cross-shaped love - a love that gives without expectation of return. This challenges us to move beyond our comfort zones and embrace a life of intentional sacrifice, not out of necessity, but by choice. The message draws fascinating parallels between our current era of perceived scarcity and the call to live sacrificially, emphasising that true abundance comes through God's grace when we're willing to lay down our lives for others. As we cultivate a heart of sacrifice, we're invited to see it as a pathway to miracles, breakthroughs, and the release of resurrection power in our world.Reflection Questions:1. What does it mean to serve God and others authentically, and how can we prepare our hearts to embrace this calling?"Therefore I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God - this is your true and proper worship." - Romans 12:1 (NIV)This week Ps Russell delves into the essence of biblical service, advocating for a deeper understanding of what it means to serve. He clarifies that to serve is to bring something valuable and necessary to others, drawing on scriptural examples to illustrate how service builds up the community. He also emphasised the importance of offering ourselves as living sacrifices to God as our foremost act of worship, showing that true service flows from this divine relationship. He challenged us to cultivate the ability to receive service from others, recognising it as a vital part of spiritual growth and community building. Have you ever wondered how living generously can not only transform your heart but also lead to a deeper encounter with God's abundant love?Hebrews 10:23-25: "Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching."This message delves into the transformative power of generosity, beginning with a vision of God as a gracious and abundant host who sets the scene for a life of sacrificial giving. It elaborates on how Jesus' teachings advocate for a mindset of abundance rather than scarcity, urging believers to see and live in a world where God's provision is more than sufficient. The heart of Jesus' message points to the importance of aligning our hearts away from greed and toward generosity, emphasizing that our desires often set the course of our lives. It wraps up by suggesting practical steps we can take, such as tithing and contributing towards social justice, to embody a lifestyle of generosity that reflects Jesus' love and thereby provokes love and good deeds within the community. Reflection Questions1. How does viewing God as an abundant host change your perspective on generosity and the resources you have?2. Thank you for joining us as we continue to dig into our MOVE series. To dig deeper, read Acts 10:1-48This week Ps Aaron brought a powerful word on Encounters. The last piece in our series on ‘Love on the Move'. Our key statement in this series states that “love moves as divine mercy intersects with the opportunity of human need, bringing redemptive victory through encounters with Jesus and His Kingdom”. In this powerful message, we explore the transformative power of encounters with God through the story of Peter and Cornelius in Acts 10. We're reminded that Christianity at its core is not just about doctrines, but about life-changing encounters with the living Christ. These encounters challenge our narratives, expand our understanding of God's love, and push us beyond our comfort zones. The message emphasises that God's love knows no boundaries, and we're called to be vessels of that limitless love. We're encouraged to cultivate a life of ongoing encounters through hunger for God, obedience, curiosity, and surrender. This isn't about seeking momentary spiritual highs, but about allowing each encounter to reshape our hearts and lives for God's kingdom purposes.REFLECTION QUESTIONS1. How might our personal limitations on God's love be restricting the encounters He wants to have with us and through us?2. How can we develop a greater sense of curiosity in our faith journey, and why is this important for growth?3. How can we as a church community support and encourage one another in cultivating lives of ongoing encounter with God?4. How can we better steward the encounters we have with God, ensuring they shape our daily lives like Blaise Pascal's experience?"Thanks again for joining us. Thank you for joining us as Ps Russell digs into the Victory element of our MOVE series. To dig deeper, read Luke 19:1-10This week we discussed ‘victory' in our series on ‘Love on the Move'. Our key statement in this series states that “love moves as divine mercy intersects with the opportunity of human need, bringing redemptive victory through encounters with Jesus and His Kingdom”. We began by reading the story of Zacchaeus in Luke 19, where Jesus' words and actions released heaven's victory into Zacchaeus life and the life of his city. As exciting and important as that encounter with Jesus was, it got me wondering… what was life like for Zacchaeus some time later? How difficult was it for him to continue to live in victory when “his friends had became his enemies, and his enemies had become his friends (perhaps), and now nobody trusted him?” What, in fact, did living in victory look like for Zacchaeus several weeks later, and additionally, what does the Bible have to say about living victoriously? In Romans 8 Paul describes us as “more than conquerors”, a phrase that speaks of victorious living. He says that the Spirit helps us in our weakness; and that trouble, hardship, persecution, famine, nakedness, or any form of danger cannot separate us from the love of Christ. In fact, God works in all things for the good of those who love him (including those aforementioned troubles)! We are called to not only “conquer” such adversities; they even work toward our good (that Christ be formed in us). In Romans 12 Paul goes on to describe this overcoming/conquering life… Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. Be devoted to one another in love; honour one another above yourselves; be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer; share with the Lord's people who are in need; practice hospitality. This is the victorious Christian life - a life where we “conquer” (with the Spirit's help) adversities such as selfishness, pride and arrogance. All this in the midst of various trials and troubles. This is the calling that Zacchaeus was to live in response to, as are we. Real victory is conquering our old self by putting on the new.REFLECTION QUESTIONS1. Recall a moment in your life when you experienced a moment of God's victory in your life. Take a moment to give thanks to God for all he did at that time. 2. Take some time to reflect on how you have previously understood and articulated the victorious Christian life. What does “living victoriously” mean to you? Then, if you have the opportunity, read Romans 8 followed by Romans 12 to get a sense of what Paul is saying about when he says that we are “more than conquerors”. 3. Thank you for joining us as Ps Aaron unpacks the Opportunities element of our focus this year, ‘Love is on the Move'To dig deeper, read Luke John 4:5-19, 25-35This interaction between Jesus and the Samaritan woman shows us that our calling is found in everyday opportunities. Simple opportunities that have the potential for profound impact. By following Jesus' example we too can learn to lean into these divine opportunities. First, we must hold the conviction that wherever we are God is up to something, either in you or in someone else. Our job is to have faith, pay attention and be ready to obey. Second, opportunities are not without obstacles. Jesus is willing to go to extraordinary lengths and cross all kinds of barriers to minister to those in need.At the end of this interaction, Jesus quotes a proverb, ""Don't you have a saying, 'It's still four months until harvest'? I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest"". The point of citing the proverb is to contrast it with what is happening now. Jesus has come, something is happening in our world and to our world, the waiting time is over, the time of harvest has arrived! The time of "opportunity" is now here. That "something" that is happening is resurrection. Resurrection isn't just contained to one moment in time, it continues to happen to our world and to your life. Therefore, we can be confident that we all have opportunities in our day where God wants to move in and through us.Resurrection life is at work to re-order everything around a new centre. Giving birth to new priorities, a new pace, a new posture, and new passions. It is this re-ordering that readies us for Kingdom opportunities. Paul describes it like this; ""To this end I strenuously contend with all the energy Christ so powerfully works in me"" (Colossians 1:29). I wonder how much of world gets changed when this is how we pursue the opportunities in our life. If we would strenuously contend in prayer. Strenuously contend in practice. Strenuously contend in allowing love to be on the move.Reflection Questions1. In my everyday life am I seeing obstacles or opportunities?2. Is my pace, priorities, posture and passion centred around Jesus? 3. Read 2 Corinthians 5:14-15. What does it look like for you to live compelled by love? What change would you expect to see in your life and in the lives of those around vou? 4. Spend time praying for eyes to see, ears to hear and hearts ready to respond to the opportunities God wants to give you this week. Thanks again for joining us. Thank you for joining us as we kick off our 'MOVE' series. Ps Aaron unpacks the Mercy element of our focus this year, 'Love is on the Move'.To dig deeper, read Luke 10:25–37.The key to understanding this parable is the interaction between Jesus and the religious teacher. When the religious leader asks “Who is my neighbour?”, he is asking, Jesus, where can I draw the line? The good Samaritan is a story that tests our understanding of love. It confronts and unmasks any false limits we have put on love that would restrict our ability to release love and mercy into our world. Mercy is love moving in response to human need in an unexpected and undeserved way. Our task as followers of Jesus is to ruthlessly attend to any structures in our heart or mind that would prevent us from following Jesus' command to “go and do likewise”, to go and show mercy to those in need. Psychologist James Hollis says every day when a man or woman wakes up two shadows are standing over their bed, fear and apathy. These two shadows limit mercy, the flow of love in our life. In our world fear often looks like suspicion or mistrust and has the power to shape the way we see others, and how we react to moments of injustice. Fear, turns our hearts inwards and limits our ability to extend mercy but love moves through a heart that has learnt to turn outward. Spiritual apathy isn't inaction, it is this idea of being numb to the meaningful, but “alive” to the trivial. The word the early church fathers used to describe this was “acedia”, and it is spiritual resistance to spiritual progress. Acedia seeks to distract you from those things that will bring us life, stealing your joy, and reducing your faith to a passionless grind. How do we confront the limits put on our love and mercy by fear and apathy? The gospel is our cure. The parable of the good Samaritan humbles us with the mercy God requires so we can receive the mercy God offers. The Gospel will re-posture our hearts from facing inward to outward. The gospel will awaken our hearts with a fiery and holy zeal.REFLECTION QUESTIONSTo what degree has fear limited our ability to love? To what degree is fear shaping the way we see others? Where does apathy show up most in my life? How does it hinder me from living a full, kingdom of God kind of life? How does apathy limit love from moving in and through my life? Has fear and apathy turned you “inward”? Do you need to repent? If the gospel is the cure for fear and apathy, what can you sing, watch, listen to, read, talk about, and celebrate that will remind you of the gospel and its power and turn your heart outward? Thanks again for joining us. Thank you for joining us as we wrap up our 'Keeping it Real' series on Ephesians with a Q&A panel. Some great questions and rich answers! In Ps Aarons closing words he reminds us of the transformative power of first love in our spiritual journey. From the key scripture, Revelation 2:1-5, where Jesus addresses the church in Ephesus, we're challenged to remember, repent, and return to our first love for Christ. This parallels our own lives, where the initial excitement of faith can sometimes fade amidst life's challenges. He drew on the analogy of smelling freshly baked garlic bread to illustrate how God is stirring up a hunger for His presence in the church today. We're encouraged to examine our hearts and respond to this invitation for renewal. The message emphasises that true impact comes from intimacy with God, not just good deeds. As we reflect on our own faith journey, we're invited to rekindle that first love, restructure our lives around Jesus, and return to a place of awe and wonder in our relationship with Him.REFLECTIONSWhat stood out to you most from the Panel Q&A? What will you apply to your life from that?Reflect on your own faith journey. Can you describe a time when you experienced "first love" for Jesus? What was that like? Has anything changed since then?Ps Aaron mentioned three steps: Remember, Repent, and Return. Which of these do you feel you need to focus on most right now? What could that look like?Set aside 15 minutes each day this week for uninterrupted prayer, focusing on rekindling your love for Jesus. Thanks again for joining us. Thank you for joining us as we continue digging into our Keeping it Real series on Ephesians.Read Ephesians 6.In chapter 6, Paul concludes with a key set of scriptures about how we are to stand firm in this new kingdom reality made available through Christ. He knew that for us to live as new creation people in unity with each other, we would need both the empowering of the Spirit to do so, and to be made aware of the enemy that would be working against us. That while this enemy would be working to prevent what the gospel is accomplishing through us, we are equipped with powerful armour in the Spirit to both fight off the enemy's schemes, and to stand firm in our faith. Firstly, Paul makes clear WHO our enemy is. It's not “flesh and blood”, it's the “spiritual forces of evil”. We are not fighting people, we are fighting the enemy named in scripture and by Jesus as Satan and his demons, and as Jesus explains in John 8:44, “he is a liar and the father of lies”. These scriptures reveal to us WHAT we as followers of Jesus are fighting. Lies! In the context of Ephesians, our enemy is working to destroy the work of the gospel in the people in Ephesus, as well as us today. He will use his lies to seek to disconnect us from God and one another, and cause us to question and walk away from who we are in Christ. It is here that Paul outlines the armour that we as believers have been given in Christ to withstand his schemes. The armour Paul lists, is the practical application of “putting on” the new self. Putting on the armour of God, is taking what is true of you as proclaimed in the gospel. Putting this truth into your heart - through the power of the spirit. Through the word and through prayer until they become new habits of the heart - new reflexes, new dispositions of the soul. This truth as it becomes a part of every fibre of our being, will have us both able to recognise our enemies tactics, and ready to fight off and stand firm in the truth of the gospel of Christ!REFLECTION QUESTIONS1. What themes stood out to you in Ephesians chapter 6? 2. If the enemy's main methods of attack are lies, what lies have you come into agreement with or have been battling with, that have caused you to feel disconnected from God? Disconnected from others? 3. What lies have and are causing you to question and walk away from who you are in Christ? 4. Looking back through the first three chapters of Ephesians - where and how do you need to believe the truth of the gospel to see the power of those lies you've identified broken off your life?"Thanks again for joining us. Thank you for joining us. This week Pastor Kris Vallotton delivered a powerful message about transitioning into a new spiritual era. He emphasises the importance of moving from past-present thinking to future-present thinking, highlighting the transformative power of prophetic culture. The sermon encourages the church to become a place of divine acceleration, where individuals are seen for their future potential rather than their past, and where prophetic gifts are cultivated to bring about personal and corporate transformation. To dig deeper,Read:Isaiah 60:1-3, 112 Corinthians 5:16-17Hebrews 12:1REFLECTION QUESTIONS1. How can we cultivate a prophetic culture in our local church that goes beyond just having prophetic ministry?2. In what ways might we be holding onto 'thrusters' from past seasons that are no longer necessary or helpful for the new era God is bringing us into?3. How can we shift our perspective from past-present thinking to future-present thinking in how we view ourselves and others?4. What does it mean practically to be a 'Barnabas church' that encourages and develops the potential in others?5. Practically, how can we better recognise and nurture the 'gold' or potential in people, seeing them through God's eyes? Thanks again for joining us. Thank you for joining us as we continue to dig into our Keeping it Real series on Ephesians. To dig deeper,Read Ephesians 5.Here's the big 10,000-metre-high snapshot of what Paul is saying in the first half of Ephesians chapter 5. We were made for love, to give love and receive love What kind of love? Christ-like, cross-shaped, sacrificial love. Therefore, we are to disentangle ourselves from anything that violates this love. Things like; unwholesome talk, sexual immorality, and greed, which is the relentless drive to need more. We are to disengage from acts that destroy community and engage in acts that build community. Paul wants us to come to the conclusion that this kind of life is impossible without being filled, and continually filled with the Spirit. One commentator phrases it this way, “let the Holy Spirit fill you”. It's about surrender, letting the Spirit permeate into every part of your life. Paul doesn't change the subject in chapter 5 but he does set aside the theology to get practical. Christ's death and resurrection changed everything and this means something. It means something to our relationships with each other, to our marriages, our households and how we relate in the workplace. Paul takes what we have learnt so far in chapters 1 through 4 about salvation, the gospel, the love of Christ and being spirit-filled; now he will map it out onto our vision of marriage. Paul is going to address the differences between how the genders practice mutual submission, and we can't ignore that. But, whatever comes next, in verses 22-33 has to be understood and framed by verse 21, “submit to one another out of reverence for Christ”. Marriage then is about spirit-filled mutual submission. It's not an issue of whether or not women should submit to men, it's an issue of both men and women learning to submit to one another in marriage. The challenge that we have in our culture is that nobody views marriage as the giving up of my own rights for the sake of the other. Rather, marriage in our culture is about getting my needs met. Marriage in our world is not based on self-denial, but self-fulfilment. But Paul is saying, marriage only “works” to the degree that it embodies the pattern of God's self-giving love in Christ. Mutual fulfilment through mutual sacrifice. Paul concludes chapter 5 with a powerful revelation. The point of marriage is ultimately not to point to each other, it's to point to Jesus. This is the secret—that the gospel of Jesus and marriage explain one another.REFLECTION QUESTIONS1. Reflect upon the kind of acts that you have engaged in this week. Which ones are community building and which ones are community destroying? Is there anything that God is asking you to disentangle yourself from so that you may have greater freedom to walk in love? 2. Looking at this chapter, what does Paul see being filled with the Spirit leads to? 3. If you are a husband, what is something you can do today to that releases her into her redemptive fullness? If you are a wife, what is something you can do today to show honour and adoration to your husband? Thanks again for joining us. Thank you for joining us as we continue digging into our Keeping it Real series on Ephesians. To dig deeper read,Eph. 3:16-19 and Eph. 4:1-16.Before taking a look at Ephesians chapter four, it is important to note that in chapter three Paul prays that we might “have power, together with all the Lord's people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge”. This is a pinnacle statement in the letter and sets the stage for the next chapter. We are to spend our lives collectively focussing on all dimensions of the love of Christ. The power of God is made available to us to empower us to grasp or comprehend the multi-faceted, boundless love of Christ. In chapter four, where Paul unpacks what it means to live a life worthy of the calling we have received, we see that the love of Christ must be the centre of all we do and all we are. We are called to be completely humble and gentle, patient, and bear with one another in love. We are called to “make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.” If we are called, then we are also empowered to do so. Paul's statement that we are to “make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace” (v. 3) leads into a discussion regarding doctrinal unity within the church and how it is maintained (v. 4-6): He states that there is “one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.” This revelation was given to those with the “proclamation” gifts (apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers - the “bringers” of revelation) and was disseminated throughout the body. Paul looked forward to a time when the body would be well equipped with the truth and would rise into maturity, no longer being “infants, tossed back and forth by the waves”, but equipped to speak the truth in love (v. 15). Paul ends this section of Ephesians chapter 4 by returning to centrality of the love of Christ in all things.REFLECTION QUESTIONS1. What does it mean for you to focus on the centrality of the love of Christ in your life today? 2. Take some time to ask the Holy Spirit to reveal how he wants to work more of the love of Christ into your life. 3. We are told that the mature body of Christ will “speak the truth in love”, as a response to the “deceitful scheming” of “cunning and crafty” people. Take a moment to reflect on how you have been challenged to bring the Love of Christ into difficult situations. Ask the Holy Spirit to give you insight into how you are uniquely empowered to "speak in love" into difficult situations. Thanks again for joining us. We're so glad you're here! We pray God encounters you wherever you're at. To dig deeper, Read: Ephesians 3 In chapter 3, Paul speaks of the mystery that has been hidden for generations. This mystery which was once hidden has now been revealed and we have been initiated into it. Paul writes this letter whilst imprisoned and he describes himself as prisoner of Christ Jesus. He sees himself as a prisoner for the Lord because his imprisonment was proof that God's marvellous plan was already at work. This mystery, this marvellous plan was that Jews and Gentiles have now been brought together into complete union through their union with Christ. Jews and Gentiles together are now co-heirs, co-members and co-sharers of all the promises of Christ. This mystery that God has now revelled is beautiful because of how radical it is, how beyond any human design it is. An undivided humanity, a people reconciled to Christ and reconciled to one another. As Paul continues to unpack the implications of this mystery we read that it is through the church that God makes known His manifold wisdom to the powers that be, spiritual and earthly. Manifold means many coloured, this body that Christ is creating is diverse. A unified church is a diverse church. In a divided and hurt world, a society in which there is not division preaches the manifold wisdom of Christ. Paul concludes Chapters 1-3 with a prayer. This prayer gives us insight into how Christ will accomplish this marvellous plan that has now been revealed, this new humanity. He prays that through the power of His sprit, believers would be strengthened so that Christ would dwell within their hearts. It is through this power and indwelling that we are able to have our roots go down deep in His love, firmly establishing us in His love. Then together as one family, one body we are able to begin to grasp together how far reaching His love is. This new creation, this unified body is only possible through divine power generating divine love. In light of of this mystery, this reconciled humanity which is empowered by His spirit and firmly established in His love, Paul prays “now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine." Reflection Questions:What themes stand out to you in Ephesians chapter 3? Ask the Holy Spirit where in your life is He leading you into greater depths of unity among fellow believers. Where are there divisions in your life that He is asking you to surrender? As you reflect on how far reaching the love of Christ is, how does it influence your view and love for others? In your relationships, what does it look like to grasp together how wide, how long, how high and how deep the love of Christ is? What is a personal application you can make based on some of the truths revealed in this chapter? In other words, what does it look like for you to “live this out” in your daily life. Thank you for joining us as we continue to dig into our Keeping it Real series on Ephesians. In Ephesians chapter 2, we start to get a glimpse of the Apostle Paul's vision for the churchin Ephesus and how Christ's work of salvation reconciles us to God and to oneanother. Paul shows us how the gospel of Christ ministers peace to both pulldown and build up.First, peace pulls down the dividing walls of hostility between God and oneother. Humans throughout history go about inventing new ways of dividing, race, politics, class, sex and religion. The gospel says “no more”. We all standequally sinful, and we stand equally as recipients of grace if you ask for it.Second, peace builds up, giving us a new way of building our identity. Ratherthan building our identity on our achievements, gifts, or status, we build ouridentity on the foundation of Christ, He is our cornerstone. Here's what this building up looks like. Firstly, we are fellow citizens. Then hesays, we are members of God's household. Thirdly, he says, we are stonesjoined together in God's temple. Each one gets more intense with regard to ourrelationship with God. A king lives in a country with his people, but a father livesunder the same roof with his children and a temple is where God lives. Theimages also get more intense regarding our relationships to each other. If you'reco-citizens, you may live kilometres from each other. But if you're are growingup in the same home, you live just metres from each other. If your stones in abuilding, there's no distance at all.In summary, what Paul is trying to say is that if you want the surpassing powerof the gospel to be at work in and through your life, you have to deeply commityourself to His community. As we do, we together are formed into God'smasterpiece, a gallery of glory declaring the testimony of God's salvationavailable to all.Reflection Questions1. What themes stand out to you in Ephesians chapter 2?2. Ask Holy Spirit to reveal any walls of hostility that you need to pull down(Hint: we all have them).3. Ask Holy Spirit to reveal any areas of your life where your identity or self-worth is based on your own efforts rather than Him. What areas of your lifeneed building up by the gospel of peace?4. What is a personal application you can make based on some of the truthsrevealed in this chapter? Thank you for joining us as we kick off our Keeping it Real series on Ephesians. In Ephesians chapter one Paul reveals, in one sweeping sentence (in the original Greek), the lavish benefits, gifts and privileges bestowed on those who are in Christ. We are blessed, predestined, adopted, redeemed, forgiven, graced, chosen and “marked… with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit”. All this "for the praise of his glory”. Through Christ's victory over "all rule and authority, power and dominion”, we are free and empowered "to be holy and blameless in his sight”. Paul then determines that he ought to pray for us! He prays that we might receive revelation that gives us a deeper understanding and experience of all that Christ has done on our behalf. Thanks again for joining us. Thank you for joining us as we continue to dig into our Grace Practices series.Author James K.A. Smith says, “You are what you love, but you may not lovewhat you think you love”.Do you have a good grasp of the issues that exist within your heart?Would you be confident to be granted your heart's truest desire or unsure whatthat would even be?These are the questions we wrestled with this week and are the questions thatour discipleship with Jesus and spiritual formation must confront. What do you love?In Colossians 3, Paul gives us the picture of “putting off, and putting on” helpingus to see that we unlearn our old habits and learn to live according to our newnature in Christ through practice. Or as Paul says in 1 Timothy 4:8, through“training”.Training is different from merely “trying” in that it recognises the resistance wewill face as we learn to live like Jesus in this world and focuses on growth, leading to joy.How do we train? Well, firstly it is a work of grace! But, we still have a part toplay. We intentionally live by a set of “grace practices” called a “rule of life” or a“rhythm of grace”. This rhythm of grace “gives us a way to enter into the life-long process of personal transformation. Its practices help us to shed thefamiliar but constricting “old self” and allow our “new self” in Christ to beformed” - Marjorie Thompson. At Dayspring we want our Rhythm of Grace to anchor us in our 3 foundationsof;Presence - Life With Jesus,People - Love Like Jesus, andPurpose - Live As Jesus did.As we do this, we will find that our Rhythm of Life will keep us anchored toChrist's table. We will be positioned to encounter His presence, to be present toothers, and to engage in our divine purpose.Reflection Questions1. On a scale of 1 to 10 how skilled are you at understanding the issues ofyour heart?2. What practices have you intentionally engaged in to guard your heart?3. Take some time to reflect on your “rhythm of grace”. Are there practices youneed to engage so that you may be more securely anchored to presence, people & purpose? Thanks again for joining us.
