In this week's episode, Keana explores a question many believers wrestle with but rarely say out loud: What does God's voice actually sound like when you're healing? When you've walked through trauma, heartbreak, or long seasons of survival mode, your ability to hear God can feel distorted. Not because God has changed — but because your nervous system, your trust, and your internal world are shifting. This episode gently unpacks how healing transforms the way you perceive God's voice, how to distinguish His voice from fear or shame, and how to recognize the tender, patient, protective tone God uses with His wounded children. If you're in a season of rebuilding your faith, reconnecting with God, or learning to trust His voice again, this episode will meet you right where you are.
Guidance Part 5 (Various Scriptures) We conclude our series by looking at the role of unusual events or coincidences in guidance. These are sometimes called signs and can be useful but are highly dangerous if misused.

How do you discern whether something is truly from God—or something internal? In this episode, Rowan Miller sits down with Pastor Don Patterson to examine that question through lived experience. Don shares specific moments that shaped his faith: his early baptism, a growing sense of calling, and the deep loss of his son. They also address more debated areas—speaking in tongues, impressions, and everyday moments where people claim God is speaking. Along the way, they connect these experiences to Scripture (James, Job, Paul, Peter) and ask what biblical discernment actually looks like. This is a grounded conversation about grief, calling, and the challenge of interpreting spiritual experiences honestly. Every believer wants to hear from God — but most of us aren't sure we actually do. We wonder whether the quiet inner nudge is divine guidance or just our own thinking, and so we ignore it, go our own way, and often end up right back where we started. In this powerful short teaching, Phil Pringle brings honest, practical clarity to one of the most personal questions in the Christian life: what does God's voice actually sound like, and how do you know when He's speaking to you? Drawing on decades of walking with the Holy Spirit, Phil shares how God communicates through peace rather than confusion, through a quiet inner knowing that grows clearer the more you learn to trust it. He recounts a remarkable miracle where a nine-year-old girl, declared brain dead by her doctors, walked out of hospital within three days — the turning point a direct word of the Lord spoken in faith. He reflects on Isaiah's promise that you will hear a voice behind you saying this is the way, and on Paul's reminder in 2 Timothy that God has given us not a spirit of fear, but power, love, and a sound mind. The bottom line, Phil says, is this: God is not a poor communicator. It's more often that we're not great at hearing. Slow down, seek Him, trust what you sense, and seek wise confirmation. His voice will become clearer. You can stake your life on it. Messianic Apologetics editor John McKee reviews Genesis 1:26-27; 3:22-23; 11:7-8, and various uses of God speaking in the plural as “us.” Was this God speaking to His celestial court, or instead God having an internal conversation with Himself? This is then followed by a review of important stories and issues from the past day or so, largely witnessed on social media.
Elihu is the fourth person to confront Job about his trial and despair. He says that there are times when God is speaking but man isn't listening and God may step in to prevent them from going in the wrong direction. Grab your Bible, turn to Job 33, and follow along with Pastor Mike.

Questions about whether having a recurring thought is an indication God is speaking to you, what to say to someone who says they sinned because “God told them to do something” and they didn't do it, and whether God speaks to us through premonitions. Would you characterize not being able to stop thinking about something as God speaking? What would you say to someone who says they sinned because “God told them to do something” and they didn't do it? Does God speak to us through premonitions?

“At that time you will be given what to say, for it will not be you speaking, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.” — Matthew 10:19-20 Someone told me recently about an illustration that I used in a sermon several years ago. They said it made a helpful point that they have often shared with their kids through the years. It had to do with the consequences of our actions—if you pick up one end of a stick, you also pick up the other. They said I also used an actual stick to help make the point. But I don't remember using that illustration. I don't even remember using the stick. But I expressed my gratitude that the illustration was helpful, even though I didn't remember it. Our passage today talks about the Lord's promise that the Holy Spirit will give us the words to say when we need them the most. I believe this is true, even in situations when we are not being persecuted. If we lean on the Holy Spirit, God can use our words to breathe life, encouragement, and conviction into the hearts of others. God can use our words to bring exactly what someone needs in that moment—even if we don't remember everything we have said. Let's pray that God will give us his words if we are ever being persecuted. And in our everyday conversations, let's practice witnessing about his goodness so that we are ready. Jesus, we pray for believers who are being persecuted for their faith in you. Give them strength and your words to say. Please also guide us all as we witness about your goodness. Amen.

SHOW NOTES In Podcast Episode 333, “Accountability Can Come from Unexpected People,” Kim discusses the importance of accepting Godly accountability and providing Godly accountability. Sometimes our accountability may come from the younger generation or those we have mentored. Our focal passage for this episode is 2 Kings 12:1-8, with 6-7 as the focal verses: 6 But by the twenty-third year of Joash's reign, the priests still had not repaired the Temple. 7 So King Joash called for Jehoiada and the other priests and asked them, “Why haven't you repaired the Temple? Don't use any more money for your own needs. From now on, it must all be spent on Temple repairs.” WEEKLY ENGAGEMENT FEATURE: Who holds you accountable in your Christian walk? Who do you hold accountable? Additional Resources and Scriptures: 4 At one point Joash decided to repair and restore the Temple of the Lord. 5 He summoned the priests and Levites and gave them these instructions: “Go to all the towns of Judah and collect the required annual offerings, so that we can repair the Temple of your God. Do not delay!” But the Levites did not act immediately. (2 Chronicles 24:4-5) How Do I Know if it's God Speaking or Just My Own Thoughts? Some believe the idea that God still speaks to people today threatens the Reformed idea of "Sola Scriptura" (Scripture alone). Want to connect? Send me a quick message here!"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.” - Galatians 5:22-23.This week Carrie and I wrap up our summer book series on “In the School of the Holy Spirit” by discussing the discernment of knowing the voice of God. With a greater desire to listen to the promptings of the Holy Spirit it is important to know how to determine whose voice we are truly hearing. In this final section of the book, Father Jacque Philippe explores practical ways to discern the inspirations we hear. It has been a treat for us to dive deeply into the workings of the Holy Spirit with you all this summer! If this episode blessed you, I would be so honored if you shared it with a friend, rated it, or left us a review! I always love to connect :suzanne @latteandlaundry.com
