According to the International Standard Bible Encyclopedia, Psalms 113-118 are part of the Hallelujah Psalms. These were sung during Passover, with Psalms 115-118 sung after drinking the last cup of the feast.   Passover was a celebration of God's deliverance from slavery in Egypt. God had shown Himself mighty and demonstrated His power over the pagan gods of Egypt. At the Last Supper, Jesus and His disciples would have sung these psalms. To think of these words being sung by our Lord before He went to the Mount of Olives to pray gives added depth of meaning to the words. (Mark 14:12-26)  As you read through this psalm, do so in light of God's previous acts of deliverance culminating with Jesus' work on the cross ultimately delivering us from sin and death, working for us the blessing of salvation and life eternal. Prepare for this week's teaching by reading Psalm 115 

Pastor Micah Klutinoty brings a message from Psalm 115:1-13. What we worship shapes who we become. If we give glory to lifeless idols, we become like them—empty and powerless—but if we worship the living God, we reflect His life, blessing, and glory. True worship rightly assigns glory to God alone and transforms us to be more like Him.

Solomon is not only a king, he is a king among kings, whose wisdom and splendor became well known. As such, the queen of Sheba pays him a visit to see his kingdom. Not only that, but the text tells us that “all the kings of the world wanted an audience with Solomon to hear the wisdom God had put in his heart.” The 2 Chronicles passage concludes with Solomon's death, but 1 Kings gives us other details about the end of Solomon's life before concluding. In his old age, Solomon was not wholehearted in his devotion to the God of Israel, and his many wives turned his heart away to follow other gods.
