We're all familiar with the phrase "Hallelujah".A heartfelt shout of joy uttered by religious and non religious alike. It first makes landfall in a series of Psalms known, unsurprisingly, as the Halel. We run into these songs here and find that they contain the shortest chapter in the entire Bible, a song that punches above its weight.Expect euphoria.Written and produced by Chas BayfieldMusic by Michael Auld and Jon Hawkins MusicCover art by Lisa Goff
Today Deacon Harold takes us into Soulful Psalm 115:9-14
God is truth, God is love, and God is being itself. Today's Catechism readings begin to unpack the eternal nature of God and share with us God's “innermost secret." Fr. Mike teaches us that because God made us in his image and likeness, then we too are called to embody truth and love. Today's readings are Catechism paragraphs 212-221. This episode has been found to be in conformity with the Catechism by the Institute on the Catechism, under the Subcommittee on the Catechism, USCCB. For the complete reading plan, visit ascensionpress.com/ciy Please note: The Catechism of the Catholic Church contains adult themes that may not be suitable for children - parental discretion is advised.
The Psalms are the hymn book of God's Word. They are exceptionally raw - taking us to the very deep parts of our being and they bring us face to face with the complex, joyful, and thrilling realities of worshipping God.

General Theme for the Week: God Is Good; You Can Trust Him Today's Lesson: Who Are “the People Who Fear the Lord”? On this edition of One Single Story, Pastors Stephen Mizell and Sharon Schwartz discuss the following questions: The “people who fear the Lord” in this study are possibly Gentiles. The Bible talks a lot about "the fear of the Lord.” What does that look like in our everyday life? Why does fearing the Lord logically lead to trusting the Lord? The reading for the day is Psalm 115:9-18.
General Theme for the Week: God Is Good; You Can Trust Him Today's Lesson: Don't Become an American Idol On this edition of One Single Story, Pastors Stephen Mizell and Sharon Schwartz discuss the following questions: The majority of people in America do not worship physical idols. What lesson can we gain from this psalm? People in our modern day still have "ears that will not hear, eyes that will not see, and hearts that will not repent.” What is the cause of this resistance to God's message to man? The reading for the day is Psalm 115:1-8.
Psalm 115 gives us the heart of the gospel message that we are saved by faith alone.

This Mizmor is a struggle with those who mock Israel for worshipping a God they cannot see. In return, the Mizmor mocks and belittles the idolaters who serve man-made ineffective gods. In response for Israel's trust in the Divine, the poet promises that God will bless Israel.
To Your Name Give Glory 115.1 Not to us, O Lord, not to us, but to your name give glory, for the sake of your steadfast love and your faithfulness! 2 Why should the nations say, “Where is their God?”3 Our God is in the heavens; he does all that he pleases. 4 Their idols are silver and gold, the work of human hands.5 They have mouths, but do not speak; eyes, but do not see.6 They have ears, but do not hear; noses, but do not smell.7 They have hands, but do not feel; feet, but do not walk; and they do not make a sound in their throat.8 Those who make them become like them; so do all who trust in them. 9 O Israel, trust in the Lord! He is their help and their shield.10 O house of Aaron, trust in the Lord! He is their help and their shield.11 You who fear the Lord, trust in the Lord! He is their help and their shield. 12 The Lord has remembered us; he will bless us; he will bless the house of Israel; he will bless the house of Aaron;13 he will bless those who fear the Lord, both the small and the great. 14 May the Lord give you increase, you and your children!15 May you be blessed by the Lord, who made heaven and earth! 16 The heavens are the Lord's heavens, but the earth he has given to the children of man.17 The dead do not praise the Lord, nor do any who go down into silence.18 But we will bless the Lord from this time forth and forevermore.Praise the Lord!
