Arizona's Bennedict Mathurin did a solo workout for the Portland Trail Blazers on Sunday as the team continues its pre-draft process looking at possible targets with the No. 7 pick in the NBA draft. The solo workout for Mathurin doesn't mean much other than that his agency wanted a solo setting for a workout. But it does mean that the Blazers are interested enough in the 6-6 wing that they obliged that preference and got Mathurin into the practice facility. Portland could be a good fit for Mathurin who is an elite shooter and transition scorer but might have issues scoring in the halfcourt and developing into a consistent high level defender. Mathurin isn't the only prospect the Blazers have scouted closely this week. They've also had eyeballs on Purdue's Jaden Ivey, Duke's AJ Griffin and Notre Dame's Blake Wesley among others. It's smokescreen and due diligence season in the NBA and it's worth remembering that this team of year everything means nothing and nothing means everything. Finally let's look at some mock drafts to close the show were prognosticators have the Blazers eyeing Kentucky's Shaedon Sharpe, Baylor's Jeremey Sochan, Dyson Daniels of the G League Ignite along with Maturin. As he deliberates his options, Trayce Jackson-Davis' future as a basketball player, whether it be for the Indiana Hoosiers men's basketball team or in the 2022 NBA draft, With plenty known and discussed about his future as an Indiana Hoosier, it's time to look at how much of an NBA future Jackson-Davis has. On today's episode of Locked on Hoosiers, Jacob Rude (@JacobRude) is joined by Mark Schindler (@MG_Schindler) to talk about Trayce Jackson-Davis as a draft prospect. After a successful season in Bloomington, what would a future hold for him at the next level and how do scouts view him? Jackson-Davis' offensive limitations - lack of a jumper or offensive game outside of the post - have been oft-discussed by some of his other strengths like his athleticism will be appealing to NBA scouts. Defensively, his quickness and ability to be more than a drop defender as a big also will be positives for teams eyeing him as a prospect. How will that translate to the NBA, though? How much can he adapt his game to the NBA, which is more free-flowing and not one where he can post up and back down opponents like he does in Bloomington. And can he continue to be a rim protector like he was for IU at the NBA level? The show wraps by looking at the other notable prospects in the Big Ten, including Purdue's Jaden Ivey and Iowa's Keegan Murray at the top of the draft. Ohio State's duo of EJ Liddell and Malaki Branham and Wisconsin's Johnny Davis all could be intriguing prospects, too. Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!
