Not everyone sees Trump or Musk as an existential threat to the American federal bureaucracy. In the March cover story of Harper's, their Washington DC editor Andrew Cockburn argues that this latest war against the American state is “futile”. He expresses skepticism that DOGE's efforts to dismantle the Federal will succeed, suggesting courts will likely block them as they did during Trump's first term. He predicts Musk's influence will diminish and that Trump will eventually sideline him. Cockburn also underlines the "contractor state" where much government work is already privatized, making structural change difficult. He criticizes Democrats for lacking energy and ideas, and suggests they need to disconnect from corporate interests and address issues like housing affordability and insurance costs to reconnect with voters. Here are the 5 KEEN ON takeaways from our conversation with Andrew Cockburn:* Cockburn believes Trump's attempts to dismantle the federal bureaucracy will likely fail, as the courts and bureaucratic resistance will eventually prevail, just as they did during his first term.* He predicts Elon Musk's influence in the administration will be temporary, with Trump eventually sidelining him as other courtiers like Kash Patel assert their authority.* The "contractor state" (privatized government functions) makes structural reform difficult, as contracts can't be easily canceled without legal challenges.* Cockburn sees a fundamental crisis in the Democratic Party, describing a lack of energy and clear ideas at their recent convention, with leadership disconnected from working-class concerns.* He suggests Democrats need to divorce themselves from corporate interests and address real issues affecting Americans, like unaffordable housing, exploitative insurance practices, and the impact of tech companies on local communities.Andrew Cockburn is the Washington Editor of Harper's magazine and the author of many articles and books on national security, including the New York Times Editor's Choice Rumsfeld and The Threat, which destroyed the myth of Soviet military superiority underpinning the Cold War. He is a regular opinion contributor to the Los Angeles Times and has written for, among others, the New York Times, National Geographic and the London Review of Books.Named as one of the "100 most connected men" by GQ magazine, Andrew Keen is amongst the world's best known broadcasters and commentators. In addition to presenting the daily KEEN ON show, he is the host of the long-running How To Fix Democracy interview series. He is also the author of four prescient books about digital technology: CULT OF THE AMATEUR, DIGITAL VERTIGO, THE INTERNET IS NOT THE ANSWER and HOW TO FIX THE FUTURE. Andrew lives in San Francisco, is married to Cassandra Knight, Google's VP of Litigation & Discovery, and has two grown children. This is a public episode. Hopefully Jaren was assessed elite in the antagonism and niggle category at the various draft camps! Time to belatedly Restump Podcast the new list additions and catch up on all the latest purple proceedings. So, with the conclusion of the trade period and drafts and our participation in the preseason supplementary selection period netting Quinton Narkle, the Freo folk list looks all but finalised for 2025.  To be honest, maybe it's just us, but, with all due respect to what appears a very handy crew of draftees we recruited, the draft wasn't as interesting or as intriguing this year for us. Don't get me wrong, we're very happy to keep adding to the future, but at Fremantle in this precise point in time, its all about the now.It was always going to be difficult for any draftee to pinch the spotlight after picking up Shai Bolton in the trade period. And even Quinton Narkle coming in to, at the very least, fatten the depth couldn't remove any genuine Bolton focus. That said, we are a lot more excited about Murphy Reid being here than he and his family appeared to be. I don't know if the Murphy family had a dog, but there is a fair chance they had just gotten word that it had died moments before Murph had his name read out! No, of course we're only being ridiculous, he'll be fine and it would have been the paralysing shock of the moment that caused his, let's say subdued, reaction. You have to be happy with the addition of Quinton Narkle, Charlie Nicholls has no doubt been selected with a degree of project prospect in mind and Aiden Riddle appears some sort of replacement pick for us unfortunately losing Maxy Knobel. However, we're more excited about the prospect of the new Carr model pulling into the Cockburn parking lot! We hold a hopeful flame Jaren Carr is more than a chip off the old engine block and that he shares his uncle's values. Are we going to see shades of yesteryear? Is there a new agitator in town?Plenty of other Docker data to get through so, if you're showing summer deficiencies in your purple levels and you need to boost your consumption, we're a short-term synthetic hit right here. We're neither a safe or effective option but hey, we don't enforce listening mandates! You'd think we'd be all out of nonsense just writing this podcast episode blurb, but you'd be mistaken! Unfortunately, there is plenty more absurdity so, if you can't find a better option, feel free to tune in.Support the show

Gus Clemens on Wine explores and explains the world of wine in simple, humorous, fun posts

This is the weekly columnSome facts and trivia to lighten your mood as we prepare for the horrors of “fall back” when the government gives back the imaginary hour it stole from us on the second Sunday in March.• Do heavier glass bottles indicate higher quality wine?Glass weight does not affect wine quality. But there has long been a marketing illusion that better wines come in heavier bottles, and winemakers have tended to put their premier efforts in heavier bottles. But so have lesser wines been put into heavy bottles so sellers can charge more. Happily, there is a mounting movement to reduce bottle weight, which cuts down on CO2 emissions and shipping and other costs.Symington Family Estates recently switched to lighter bottles for its Cockburn's Port line. Their new 750 ml bottle weighs 450g down from 585g. Other wineries, especially for wines not made for aging, have shifted to cans and “juice boxes” for even greater savings.• Will the LED lights in my wine cellar cause light strike in my wine?UV light and heat are enemies of wine, especially in long-term storage. Traditional lights give off UV and heat. Good news is LED lights give off minimal heat and almost no UV radiation.• What do the fancy names for bubbles in Champagne mean?“Mousse” generally refers to the overall fizziness, also the frothy head at the top of the glass. “Perlage” is French for a string of pearls and refers to the column of bubbles rising in the glass. “Bead” basically means the same as perlage.• What are the most planted wine grapes in the world? This answer changes and reporting is not uniform, but best answer in 2024 is cabernet sauvignon is the most planted red and chardonnay is the most planted white.• How do you open a bottle with a wax seal?Ignore the wax seal. Plunge the corkscrew through the wax and pull. When the cork is pulled, the wax will fall away. Just before you fully remove the cork, you can clean up any wax debris if needed.• What does the wine descriptor “racy” mean?Racy is more a style, not a descriptor of quality, smell, or taste. It basically means a wine with vibrant, fresh acidity. While it most often is associated with white wine, red wines can be racy, too. Racy is a positive comment and indicates the wine will “cleanse the palate” and work well with food.Last roundA friend asked me how much I spend on a bottle of wine?I said: “About 45 minutes, longer with a meal.” Wine time.Email: wine@cwadv.comNewsletter: gusclemens.substack.comWebsite:  Gus Clemens on Wine websiteFacebook:  facebook.com/GusClemensOnWine/posts/Twitter (X): @gusclemensLong form wine stories on Vocal: Gus Clemens on VocalLinks worth exploringDiary of a Serial Hostess Ins and outs of entertaining; witty anecdotes of life in the stylish lane.As We Eat Multi-platform storytelling explores how food connects, defines, inspires. Gus Clemens on Wine explores and explains the world of wine in simple, humorous, fun posts

This is the weekly columnHalloween is next week, but if you are giving wine advice it's best to give your audience some time to act on it.First, I know of no decent pairing of wine with treacly sweet trick-or-treat candy. With somewhat less sugary candy, you can go with light, sweet wines. Wine must be at least as sweet as the candy. If the treat is dark chocolate, you have real options. Dark chocolate typically contains 50-90% cocoa solids. The higher the percentage of cocoa, the better to pair with wine. Vintage or ruby port, sherry, and marsala are classic fortified wine pairings. Non-fortified pairing wines include zinfandel, cabernet sauvignon, merlot, and New World pinot noir.If you are not part of the child extortionists plot, you can always enjoy the frivolity of an adult costume party and real wine pairings. Charcuterie boards work well with almost the entire panoply of wine. If you are enjoying a full regular meal, the usual food-wine pairings apply. When you get to dessert, dark chocolate is in play. With pumpkin pie there are several choices:• Mascatel sherry. Its honey, caramel, and raisin notes nicely pair with the pie.• California chardonnay. A full-bodied chard with plenty of oak, butter, and vanilla flavors will work especially nicely with pie crust.• Tawny port. Nutty and dried fruit flavors complement the pie.• Oloroso sherry. Sweet, nutty flavors match with autumnal flavors of the pie.• Late harvest gewürztraminer. Nutmeg, vanilla, and cinnamon flavors in this sweet wine complement spices in pumpkin pie.• Riesling ice wine. Sweetness and acidity work with the pie's rich, creamy textures. As with candy, the key is the wine must be at least as sweet as the pie. In fact, that is a good rule of thumb for all wine and food pairings. Now you are set for the last day of October ordeal or fun fest, however you roll. Um 1200 v.Chr. wird nicht nur das Ende der mykenischen Kultur datiert, sondern auch das anderer bronzezeitlicher Kulturen. Doch warum kollabierten ihre Systeme? Waren es die berüchtigten Seevölker? It was a legitimate honourable loss, ironically delivered partly by a dishonourable act. We're going to have to hit ole Rosco Lyon and Rory up for favours! Time to Restump Podcast all the purple palaver.Another lethargic start to a game has once again hurt us. We're so close, but we are where we're supposed to be because genuine really good sides don't consistently have lapses or make certain mistakes. But the reality is, we're good enough to challenge, if we simply tidy up a couple of areas. The Giants are a hot side and, as the competition's in form side, should arguably be premiership favourites. They were at full strength, revved up on their home deck and incentivised with a top four spot. Admittedly, we had finals to qualify and play for, but we were on the road and without our best key forward, our lead ruck and our best key defender. The performance was mostly admirable. While few were a bit wide of thee mark, Andy Brayshaw again left no uncertainty surrounding how much of a priority his valuable signature is. Caleb Serong had a monster of a day especially under thee heavy tagging tactics of Toby Bedford and it was magnificent to see Sammy Sturt put in a ripper.Bailey Banfield has copped some unfair criticism at times, but you can't defend his brain snap. To be so undisciplined at such a pivotal moment with so much on the line, is unforgiveable. But Paddy Voss gave away a dumb 50m penalty which, directly or indirectly, however you assess it, resulted in a goal to the Giants. It wrongfully didn't carry the same scrutiny because it wasn't in the final minutes. Jye Amiss missed 2 absolute sodas in the 3rd quarter, put another one out of bounds on the full and also missed Luke Jackson with a simple kick. Brennan Cox was seemingly on another planet on occasions and Jordan Clark and Brandon Walker watched Brent Daniels run amok all day. There are many moments throughout a game that deserve the same frustrated response that Bailey Banfield is suffering. Beyond that, once again the game against Geelong last week and the game against the Giants on Saturday really should have determined whether we made the top four or not, not whether we made the eight. Six games we've lost by 13 points or less and in five of them we were leading at three quarter time. There is a bit more to blame than Bailey Banfield idiotically giving away a 50m penalty. So, its all down to the final three games of the final round of the season for us. With the two games that can partly determine our fate on Sunday prior to our game, we'll know if we can make the eight or not before the first bounce. We need our former coach, Rosco Lyon, to get his Sainters to repeat their effort and result against Carlton which they delivered against Geelong on the weekend. And/or if Rory Lobb can repay some of what he owes us by sandbagging his teammates, allowing the Giants to prevail, then we're in with a live chance. Hawthorn aren't losing to North Melbourne so we can rule a line through that. So, if Carlton and the Dogs both win, its goodbye 2024. If one or either of them lose, its all up to us to turn the Power out. One minute Shai Bolton has requested a trade, next minute, apparently, he hasn't. For that to occur, it means he is surely going to. It is difficult to think he's not going to be in purple next year, but we walk away if the price is overs.Unfortunately, the Mi Casa Property Boutique metres gained competition didn't get up on the weekend, but it will absolutely be running for our final home and away season game. It'll be your final chance to snare a freebie spend at 2 Brothers Foods.Plenty of goings on at the Cockburn club, so bring your opinions and rumours and make them heard. A Doig medal, an All Australian, a Simpson medal and lead DJ at Covid Club 150. Time to Restump Podcast Lukey Ryan's 150th in the demolition of the Dees. The defensively versatile Luke Ryan has put together a remarkable 150 games and played them at a ridiculously consistent high-end level. He's been the mainstay, showing incredible durability, playing 150 of a possible 160 games since his debut in 2017, and at 28 years of age, there's another 100+ games in him yet.His services were barely required Sunday as we tore a hapless Melbourne Demons team apart in the middle, softening the reliance on the defensive unit. Without a Max Gawn and a Christian Petracca, there was little to no resistance in the midfield and around the ground at stoppages. While without any doubt we performed superbly, producing a connectivity enabling chains of play we have only dreamt of and been striving for, our lack of an opponent had some say in it. There is something that is just not cricket at Melbourne. We took 21 marks inside 50 and our average prior to the game was 12. A total of 24%, nearly one in every four of our marks were inside 50! That is an insane stat. We usually go around the 12%, or one in 8 or 9 marks inside 50.We went +31 in the clearances when we average +7 all year. Centre clearances we were +9 and we usually go around +2.4 mark. The Dees had a Jack Viney and a Clayton Oliver in there. They rolled Trent Rivers and Tom Sparrow through there. These are far from fringe players so there is plenty of merit in our performance. But you don't put up numbers like we did against these types if there aren't additional underlying issues. Max Gawn and Christian Petracca are influential greats but they weren't that big of a difference. Something is a tad off at Demon land. But we got to play our game and hone our drills. We banked another four points and added 3% which may or may not end up vital. Top 4 is ours if we want it. It was magnificent to see what is now the full-blown arrival of Josh Treacy. Lets remember, while the Dees were off in the middle they still had a Steven May and a Jake Lever. Neither of them caused Treacy any grief.Message sending Sonny Walters was back causing havoc and putting in a complete and well-rounded game. Never write off champions!  I'm willing to bet right now that Andy Brayshaw is a shoe-in for next captain. He's back to his 2022 best, with big moment and game influential acts. If anyone wants that bet, get in touch with me!It was one of those one in all in, same page, individual role playing performances that produces stunning results. The Dees may not have put the pressure on us but its still a win we should take great confidence out of.The injury to the captain is a devastating one and hasn't arrived at the ideal time. He was in scintillating form and leaves shoes impossible to fill. Lets hope the time frame is good news. While we sit in the top 4, we are only a game and a half out of 9th. So, the words 'No Complacency' should be put in bold on the white board down at Cockburn this week, as we head towards the derby! We ran into a few time hurdles so the Mi Casa Property Boutique Metres Gained competition didn't get up last weekend. It'll return for the Derby. It was a thoroughly enjoyable game to watch but it's an interesting game to assess. Ross Lyon's “never as good or as bad” line seems highly appropriate.Anyway, let's get into a bit more depth on the pod and see what noisy nonsense eventuates.Support the Show.

Why You Should Be Drinking Portuguese Wines Now On the podcast today, the Symington family has a history in Portugal as rich as their Ports. We are excited to have DOC Douro Category Manager Mariana Brito and fifth generation family member Harry Symington joining us on the pod from Portugal to share Symington's story. Port is a wine we think of as the perfect end to a great meal, a relaxing wine to sip and toast on an evening shared with family and friends. Port invites us to slow down, sip, and savor. The Symington family has lived by that mantra for generations. They are one of the best known names in Port, admired worldwide for their dedication to the wine and sustainable practices. Symington Family Estates owns the Port Houses of Dow's, Graham's, Warre's, Cockburn's and Quinta do Vesuvio, and dry wine producers in Portugal's Douro Valley, Vinho Verde and Alentejo wine regions. The family is carefully upholding the best of Port's long history while also stewarding the wine into the future, producing dry white, rosé and red wines. While they trace their roots in the Port trade back to 1652, today the fifth generation of Symingtons is leading the way in the family business. You might think of Port as your father's or grandfather's drink. But Port is being rediscovered thanks in part to travelers choosing to go to Portugal and the historic Douro Valley, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the world's oldest demarcated wine region as their top destination. My guest in this episode is Nicki Cockburn. Nicki now lives in Cardiff but was born in 1978 in Zimbabwe. At 5 months old, after her Mum insisted on a second opinion, she was diagnosed as being blind. For sighted people like me that would feel like a massive burden and challenge but in talking about it Nicki says “I'm really happy with it, you have to adapt' and “it's been a problem for a lot of people, but never for me”. Nicki doesn't shy away from discussing some of the challenges and prejudice she has faced but her indomitable spirit shines through our whole conversation and I found it deeply inspirational, and I trust you will too. The other thing that shines through is Nicki's deep love of music which has been a positive force in her life for so long. She references over 50 artists in our chat and it's not everyone that can go from ‘The Chicken Song' through Jaco Pastorius to Rage Against the Machine! Nicki isn't just a listener she is also a musician. Her musical journey has gone through Piano, Flute and Guitar before she arrived in early 40's at the Bass Guitar, which describes as ‘her instrument' and one of her song choices specifically reflect that. Her song choices are : 70's      Your My Best Friend                                Don Williams80's      Rio                                                                      Duran Duran90's      The Car Song                                               Elastica00's      Bass Tribute                                                 Victor Wooten10's      Trust In You                                                  Lauren Dagle20's      Too Good For Giving Up                       Liam Gallagher Enjoy :-)If you would like to be on the show then please contact me at musictalkspod@outlook.com Please follow and like Music Talks on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/musictalkspod . It's the first time in our history we've less than 5 indigenous players on the list. But that doesn't mean 3 isn't good quality company. Time to Restump Podcast the Saturday night scrap against the Saints. For a club that is known for its adoption and celebration of indigenous culture and its rich history of numerous indigenous players, we have recently seen a sharp decline in numbers down at the purple Port. For our entire history leading up to the start of 2024, we have averaged over 7 indigenous players per year and, as mentioned, we've never had less than five on our list. However, with the departures of Joel Hamling, Liam Henry, Nathan Wilson and Roy Benning at the end of 2023, Sonny Walters, Alex Pearce and Conrad Williams are carrying the indigenous representation load. Albeit from across the aisle, we reunite with Ross and say hello to Henry Saturday night in a must win game against the Saints. Our former coach has obviously had enough of his team's wayward form, swinging the axe, making six significant changes.Out goes Seb Ross, Liam Stocker, Jack Hayes, Hugo Garcia and the two goals a game forward against Freo, Tim Membrey. While it appears down at Cockburn central we are going in with an unchanged line up, we do have some interesting emergencies. Will Liam Reidy be a late in to make his debut and give Luke Jackson a chop out in the ruck? Whatever the case, let's hope all the goal kicking radars got a tune up during the week.Should be a very close game. Both teams are extremely similar in regards to offensive and defensive numbers and its incredibly difficult to get a genuine handle on the form of both clubs. The Mi Casa Property Boutique Metres Gained Competition is back for the weekend. A $50 spend from 2 Bros Foods is up for grabs or $100 in the ongoing Bailey Banfield special. Check our social medias Friday for the competition post. Apparently, the teams that do little to no traveling, think getting across the Nullabor every second week is no big deal because a few guys get to travel in business class. No doubt they're the same VFL clubs who have complained about having to travel to Marvel stadium! The remaining fixtures are out and, surprise surprise, we've been handed a bunch of dead zone timeslot games beginning WA morning times! Anyway, plenty to talk about but let's focus on the task at hand, which is, in a good-natured way, giving Liam a little lip and showing the Lyon no love. The pod isn't going to preview itself so let's get into it and look for a path to the four-point bank. Support the Show.

Ian Cockburn is a survivor of one of the most harrowing health scandals in UK history. At just six years old Ian was battling childhood Leukemia, and during one of his final treatments was infected with Hepatitis C through a contaminated blood transfusion—a fallout from the UK's importation of unscreened blood products over two decades. His medical journey began with a dramatic evacuation to a UK airbase, then a fight against Hep-C, which threatened not only his life but his dream of serving his country. Ian opens up about the subsequent government and NHS cover-up that prolonged the crisis, the personal and professional hurdles he faced due to the infection, and how he overcame these challenges to live a fulfilling life with his family. Despite being barred from joining the British Army in his youth due to his medical history, Ian's unwavering determination, inspired by military podcasts, led him to reapply as a reservist and volunteer police officer, achieving success in both endeavors. Andrew Cockburn's cover story for the March issue of Harper's Magazine, titled “The Pentagon's Silicon Valley Problem,” illuminates the longstanding and increasingly intricate relationship between Silicon Valley's tech leaders and the Pentagon. Cockburn, the Washington editor of Harper's and a distinguished figure in journalism, argues that the traditional "military-industrial complex" has evolved into a more contemporary "military high-tech complex." This transformation signals a deeper integration of technological advancements with military operations, occurring within our own backyard.

The cover story of Harper's this month is piece by Andrew Cockburn, their Washington DC editor, entitled “The Pentagon's Silicon Valley Problem”. But as Cockburn explained to me today, the Pentagon's problem is also ours. Silicon Valley, he argues, was in many ways founded and financed by the Cold War military-industrial complex and has become the economic, military and ideological motor of 21st century American militarism. And in our age of AI, Cockburn warns, the farce of American military incompetence and Silicon Valley technological hubris threaten to merge into the tragedy of unintended war. Andrew Cockburn is the Washington DC Editor of Harper's magazine and the author of many articles and books on national security, including the New York Times Editor's Choice Rumsfeld and The Threat, which destroyed the myth of Soviet military superiority underpinning the Cold War. The term ‘hormonal' has become synonymous with ‘moody'. While hormones do affect mood, they do much more in the body than that. We tend to think of certain times in life, such as puberty, pregnancy, and the transition to menopause as hormone-fueled, but the truth is that our hormones influence the health of our bodies and minds every single day.So what exactly are hormones? Hormones are special chemicals that travel through the bloodstream. They carry messages from the glands where they are produced to cells in different parts of the body. These chemical messages help to manage cellular processes that control appetite, growth, stress, blood sugar, sleep cycles, sex drive, and sexual function, to name a few. The endocrine system is a complex web of interactions. Hormones interact with each other and with many other systems of the body, including the immune system, in ways that we don't yet understand.About Our Guest:Ana G. Herrera spent 17 years in the corporate world, leading well known beauty brands. Her life took an unexpected turn when she was diagnosed with Stage IV Endometriosis in her mid 20s. This condition brought unimaginable pain into her life, leading to five surgeries, infertility, surgical menopause, and numerous other challenging consequences. Frustrated by the lack of specific research, clear information, and natural products that she could apply into my daily life, Ana decided to embark on a new path. She began talking to hundreds of women and discovered that many shared a common thirst for knowledge and trustworthy products, yet they didn't know where to begin. It was this realization that led her to leave a successful corporate career behind and dive headfirst into the most challenging endeavor of her life—creating a company from scratch.Ana's vision is to empower others with the knowledge and products necessary to take charge of their hormones, rather than allowing hormones to dictate their lives. With a steadfast belief in authenticity and solidarity, Ana strives to create a powerful movement that transcends societal stigmas and empowers individuals to live their lives to the fullest.Resources Mentioned:Hormone University Glow productsThe Business of Birth ControlEnvironmental Working Group - Personal Care ProductsDirty DozenConnect with Ana:FacebookInstagramWebsiteLinkedInTwitterThe hashtag for the podcast is #nourishyourflourish. If you think you are not a fan of dessert wines, we believe we can change your mind - because we changed our own minds in this episode! Dessert wines are perfect for romantic evenings, but also a great excuse to slow down and extend a meal with family, friends, and loved ones. If you are looking for something special to do this Valentine's Day, serving a sweet wine to your sweetheart to complement the sweets you bought them is a perfect end to a wonderful evening. And who knows, maybe the evening might last a little longer after you serve them a dessert wine if you know what we mean! In this episode we taste and review three different dessert wines, and we think there is a great choice for you no matter what you are planning to serve or what your particular taste preferences may be. We found a great Port, a fascinating Cream Sherry, and a beautiful sweet orange wine - and any of them are great choices and crowd pleasers. If there is one thing we know, life is short, so don't skip dessert (along with not drinking shitty wine!). Wines reviewed in this episode: Cockburn's Special Reserve Port, Emilio Hidalgo Morenita Cream Sherry, 2021 Quady Essensia Orange Muscat.Contact The Wine Pair Podcast - we'd love to hear from you!Visit our website, leave a review, and reach out to us: https://thewinepairpodcast.com/Follow and DM us on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thewinepairpodcast/Send us an email: joe@thewinepairpodcast.com

On this edition of Parallax Views, muckraking journalist Ken Silverstein, the man who covers the seedy, sleazy side of beltway politics he calls "Washington Babylon, returns to discuss a potpourri of topics. We begin with a discussion of the Israeli bombardment of Gaza that has occurred in response to the Oct. 7th Hamas attack and has incurred a terrible loss of Palestinian civilian lives. Ken is openly calling it a genocide. We discuss why as well as his feelings about all of that has occurred in the past few months with regards to Israel/Palestine from his perspective as an antifascist Jew. We then switch to number of different topics including the role Ken played in publicizing and popularizing the now infamous photos of the recently deceased Henry Kissinger seemingly picking his nose in public and eating his boogers. We also revisit the story of Ken's late friend/collaborator, former Counterpunch head honcho, and Village Voice "Beat the Devil" columnist's Alexander Cockburn's troubles with the Israel Lobby. We look at this story in the context of criticism of Israel in the current day and fears of criticism being shutdown. Before closing out Ken tells us about his latest story for The New Republic, Did "Bob Menendez's Donors Know They Were Paying for $64 Steaks?", and how politicians live the luxurious high life thanks to the failures of campaign finance law.
