A painting purchased for 50 dollars at a garage sale in Minnesota that some believe is an unknown portrait by Vincent Van Gogh is tearing the art world apart. Experts with New York-based LMI Group, an art research firm, believe the Dutch artist painted the portrait during his stay at a psychiatric hospital in the south of France in 1889, and that it could be worth 15 million dollars. But some in the art world disagree. Last Friday, the Van Gogh Museum denied the painting's attribution to Van Gogh. Robert Snell, the co-owner and painting specialist at Revere Auctions in St. Paul, joined Minnesota Now to talk about the dramatic saga unfolding in the art world.

It began with a sexual assault in the dead of night in 1998, and ended with a gruesome mid-day murder in 2007. Over the span of a decade, the women of Lansing lived in fear of a violent predator. More than a dozen women were attacked. Seven were murdered. Multiple men were suspected, arrested, and convicted of the crimes during the reign of a corrupt prosecuting attorney. It was during this period and subsequently that the balance of the programme changed and the women became dominant and steadily the males in the programme were less well defined and written. Before noting how good Lucy's monologue was this week Roifield announced that it was inevitable that they would be disagreeing. It took a while before he admitted that he does not have the objection shown by some contributors to the intended liaison between Lilian and Justin. Lucy's objection is not moral - merely on the basis of self-esteem. Roifield is more supportive of Justin's wish for companionship and to enjoy each other's company in many ways. Eventually our podcast husband and wife ended up having a domestic over the relationship! Lucy believes that it will all end in Lilian's tears.
