It's been a big week for some of the dumber litigation we follow around here. It's not all dumb — we start with an update on California's litigation over the deployment of the National Guard in Los Angeles, where the state has gotten relief at the trial court level but faces a tough road in the appeals courts. And we look at a case in Boston where a federal judge has blocked, for now, the cancellation of certain grants the National Institutes of Health have deemed excessively DEI-related.Then we have updates on Mike Lindell, who says the $2.3 million defamation judgment against him is actually a victory; Michael Avenatti, who appealed his sentence and got it reduced very slightly (rare win!); and various Proud Boys, who made the mistake of hiring a felon to be their lawyer; some weird drama at the Second Circuit Court of Appeals, where Judge Stephen Menashi is really annoyed his colleagues didn't want to reopen the E. Jean Carroll litigation. And we look at juror drama at the P. Diddy trial. And — most excitingly — Josh makes Ken talk about the Real Housewives.Visit serioustrouble.show to sign up for our newsletter and find a transcript of this episode. This is a public episode. It is no surprise #leftist agitators are behind the spread of Anti-Israel (and in many cases Pro-Hamas) protests infecting college campuses with students looking for identity, a cause and/or a party to serve as pawns. Dr. Jerome Corsi looks deeply into the nature and goals of the puppeteers behind the protests. Also, Michael Avenatti is singing like a canary about the Stormy Daniels case and the overall shakedowns against #DonaldTrump via #lawfare, starting with a tweet from prison. The Climate Alarmists' latest scheme is to try and control the weather to curb their climate change paranoia. How did that work out for Dubai recently?  Why this push?  Dr. Corsi breaks it down and your head will probably spin from this latest scheme from the Climate Crazies. Get Dr. Corsi's new book, The Assassination of President John F. Infamous personality and convicted criminal, Michael Avenatti, was recently a part of a conversation with Ari Melber from MSNBC. He was invited to share his viewpoint regarding the ongoing legal battle that faces our former President, Donald Trump. Avenatti, currently in service of a lengthy 19-year term for various crimes including identity theft and fraud, purportedly stole significant sums from a book penned by his previous client, Stormy Daniels. It's worth noting that Avenatti gained much of his fame through high-profile representation of Daniels during the Trump administration. Daniels claimed to have had an extramarital relationship with Trump. The recent charges against President Trump have been encouraged by NYC District Attorney Alvin Bragg, who alleges that Trump committed 34 felonies, mostly associated with falsification of corporate records to conceal payoffs related to the alleged affair. Trump, consistently maintaining his innocence, has submitted a plea of not guilty. Avenatti was invited to give his view on the charges via a phone-call to The Beat on MSNBC, issued from the Federal Correctional Institution located in Terminal Island, California. In his own words, Avenatti conceded that there may be several complexities surrounding the case. Yet, he also articulated an implicit belief that Trump would eventually be convicted. He explained his reasoning by conveying a general disbelief in equal treatment for criminal defendants within our legal system.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

As the underbelly of politics during the Trump era unfurls before us, we shed light on the menacing threats cast upon Stormy Daniels and her child, overlooked by mainstream narratives. My co-host Ty and I unravel these perturbing ties of allegiance, where loyalty can spell danger and the line between the law and the lawless blurs. We dissect the infamous pipeline from the Trump campaign to incarceration, scrutinizing figures like Michael Avenatti and Peter Navarro, while pondering the audacity of reassembling a team with such a checkered past. Grab a slice of Big Lou's as we juxtapose serious political discourse with impromptu soda runs and pajama-clad escapades.Ty and I navigate a spectrum of topics, from personal triumphs like his recent wedding to the societal pressures women face, especially in the realm of plastic surgery. We contrast these with the peculiar trajectory of Isabella DeLuca, who swung from the Capitol attack to Congressional employment. Our candid conversation drifts into the intricacies of reality TV and the struggle for self-acceptance in an age of aesthetic enhancement. We underscore the perils of beauty standards and share our unvarnished takes on the pursuit of perfection.Capping off our episode, we bestow the 'Shithole of the Week' title upon Nancy Mace for stoking political firestorms, lamenting voter disengagement in local elections and the rise of cult-like movements. As we conjure the themes of True Detective, we stress the vital need to remain alert to the threats against democracy, drawing parallels between the cyclical patterns of political discord and the philosophy that history is doomed to repeat itself. This episode is a rollercoaster of political commentary, raw authenticity, and an impassioned plea for vigilance in safeguarding our democratic values.Support the showSupport the show:https://www.buzzsprout.com/2003879/supportFollow our show's hosts on Twitter: twitter.com/@CoolTXchicktwitter.com/@Caroldedwinetwitter.com/taradublinrockstwitter.com/blackknight10ktwitter.com/@pardonpodFind Tara's book here:Taradublinrocks.comFind Ty's book here:Consequence of ChoiceSubscribe to Tara's substack:taradublin.substack.comSubscribe to Ty's substack:https://theworldasiseeit.substack.com/ Support Our Sponsor: Sheets & GigglesEucalyptus Sheets (Recommended):Sleep Mask (I use this every night)Eucalyptus Comfortor...

This Day in Legal History: Dred Scott DecidedOn this day in legal history, March 6th, 1857, the U.S. Supreme Court issued its infamous decision in Dred Scott v. Sandford, a landmark case that deepened the nation's sectional divisions and paved the way for the Civil War.The Court, led by Chief Justice Roger B. Taney, ruled that Dred Scott, an enslaved man who resided in free territories, was not a U.S. citizen and therefore had no right to sue in federal court. This decision effectively stripped Scott of any legal right to freedom.Furthermore, the Court declared the Missouri Compromise, which prohibited slavery in certain U.S. territories, unconstitutional. This decision, later overturned by the 14th Amendment, inflamed tensions over slavery and propelled the nation closer to civil war.The Dred Scott decision stands as a stark reminder of the dark chapters in American history and the ongoing struggle for equality. While the 14th Amendment later overturned this decision, its legacy continues to resonate, serving as a powerful symbol of the fight for justice and the enduring pursuit of a more perfect union. The EU is close to passing sweeping AI regulations impacting businesses globally. The law categorizes AI uses by risk, banning high-risk practices like subliminal manipulation. Companies developing or using high-risk AI, like job-screening software, will face stricter controls and registration requirements. Though the EU market is the target, the law's reach extends due to its size. Experts urge companies to prepare now, as the consequences for non-compliance mirror those of the EU's GDPR, which has resulted in hefty fines for tech giants. Companies need to assess their AI use to determine if they fall under the act, as some applications, like biometric characterization, navigate complex classifications. While the initial proposal faced criticism for its low threshold for reporting weather and transition costs, the final version sets a higher bar based on materiality. Companies will still disclose financial impacts of climate events, but in a footnote rather than directly in financial statements. They also need to report greenhouse gas emissions with outside verification in phases, with larger companies starting sooner. This phased approach aims to balance providing investors with valuable information while avoiding excessive burdens on businesses. The final rules represent a significant step in requiring companies to address climate risks and their financial implications, aligning with similar initiatives in California and Europe.SEC Unveils Higher Threshold for Reporting on Climate CostsThe United Auto Workers (UAW) is making progress in organizing workers at foreign-owned auto plants in the South. Will Alex Murdaugh Plead Guilty to Financial Crimes?

How blurred can the lines of justice become when personal interests, pride, and professional ethics collide?    In a recent episode of the "Hidden Killers" podcast, Tony Brueski delves into the intricate legal web surrounding Alex Murdaugh with attorney and former Federal prosecutor, Neama Rahmani. The two discussed the much-awaited trial of Murdaugh set for November 27th, focusing on the financial malfeasance involving millions stolen from the family of his deceased housekeeper, Gloria Statterfield.    Rahmani, addressing Brueski's speculations about the November trial date, stated, "Normally I would have said no, but I think they got a decent shot of getting this murder conviction." The stakes are high, especially if allegations of witness tampering involving the court clerk hold water. Such allegations would ideally favor the defense, potentially granting a mistrial. Rahmani emphasized that if these allegations are true, the prosecution should proceed with the fraud case, given Murdaugh's potential risk of acquittal from the murder charges.    But what about the testimony from the previous murder trial where Murdaugh confessed to these financial crimes? Brueski questioned its admissibility. Rahmani clarified, "I think the taint has to do with the jurors and the deliberation process, not with Murdoch's testimony himself." Essentially, regardless of issues surrounding jury deliberations, Murdaugh's admissions are valid evidence in the fraud case.    Another puzzling aspect is Murdaugh's decision to stand trial. He's already admitted to multiple crimes informally. Rahmani pondered this, recalling Murdaugh's testimony, "He gets up there and he says he wants to clear his name and his family name and his son." The former prosecutor highlighted the gravity of Murdaugh's actions, saying, "It's really the worst thing you can do as a lawyer - steal money from your clients." Regardless of Murdaugh's personal distinction between being labeled a thief or a killer, his legal fate seems sealed.    The conversation turned to Corey Fleming, Murdaugh's co-conspirator in the fraud case. Sentenced to ten years, with four of those in federal court, Rahmani expressed the sentence was lenient, especially when considering the magnitude of the crime. "You're revictimizing these victims all over again," Rahmani articulated, emphasizing the severe ethical breach when attorneys take advantage of those they pledge to serve. He cited other lawyers, like Michael Avenatti and Tom Girardi, equating their actions with Murdaugh's, stressing the egregiousness of such crimes in the legal world.    As Brueski and Rahmani unraveled the complexities of the Murdaugh case, it became clear that beyond the court hearings, the central question revolves around the moral fiber of those in the legal profession. Rahmani's poignant assertion towards the end resonates deeply, "I really think they should lose their license and spend a lot of time in prison."    In a world where trust is a currency and legal ethics the gold standard, how many more cases like Murdaugh's lurk in the shadows, waiting for their day in the spotlight?
