DOCKET ALERTS: Judge Brian Murphy blocked termination of TPS for 5,000 Ethiopians. DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin will continue Noem's tradition of announcing his intention to violate the law in advance, so as to give litigants a heads up. Michael Avenatti moves to a halfway house, remains a full-way non-lawyer. And Democrats overperformed in Tuesday's special elections. MAIN SHOW: Crazytimes continue at the DOJ as Trump's goons jockey to replace Pam Bondi. Acting AG Todd Blanche is professing his love for Trump at the podium. US Attorney for DC Jeanine Pirro can't indict a ham sandwich, and juries are telling her to take a hike. Politico says Harmeet Dhillon, head of the DOJ's Civil Rights Division, is in the running for the top job. She's currently trying to indict January 6 Committee witness Cassidy Hutchinson for perjury — which has exactly nothing to do with civil rights. And Dhillon's office keeps losing when she sues states demanding they turn over their voter rolls. Will Republicans invoke the 25th Amendment to remove Trump from office? (No.) But the fact that we're asking the question shows how far we've come. And in Tennessee, Kilmar Abrego Garcia is trying to get his human smuggling case dismissed on grounds of vindictive prosecution. Both the government and Garcia filed their briefs this week. The government claims that prosecution started with an article in the local paper, the Tennessee Star. Which is weird because the case was reopened in Baltimore the week before the article was published — and DHS is actually the source of the reporting! It's been a big week for some of the dumber litigation we follow around here. It's not all dumb — we start with an update on California's litigation over the deployment of the National Guard in Los Angeles, where the state has gotten relief at the trial court level but faces a tough road in the appeals courts. And we look at a case in Boston where a federal judge has blocked, for now, the cancellation of certain grants the National Institutes of Health have deemed excessively DEI-related.Then we have updates on Mike Lindell, who says the $2.3 million defamation judgment against him is actually a victory; Michael Avenatti, who appealed his sentence and got it reduced very slightly (rare win!); and various Proud Boys, who made the mistake of hiring a felon to be their lawyer; some weird drama at the Second Circuit Court of Appeals, where Judge Stephen Menashi is really annoyed his colleagues didn't want to reopen the E. Jean Carroll litigation. And we look at juror drama at the P. Diddy trial. And — most excitingly — Josh makes Ken talk about the Real Housewives.Visit serioustrouble.show to sign up for our newsletter and find a transcript of this episode. This is a public episode. As the underbelly of politics during the Trump era unfurls before us, we shed light on the menacing threats cast upon Stormy Daniels and her child, overlooked by mainstream narratives. My co-host Ty and I unravel these perturbing ties of allegiance, where loyalty can spell danger and the line between the law and the lawless blurs. We dissect the infamous pipeline from the Trump campaign to incarceration, scrutinizing figures like Michael Avenatti and Peter Navarro, while pondering the audacity of reassembling a team with such a checkered past. Grab a slice of Big Lou's as we juxtapose serious political discourse with impromptu soda runs and pajama-clad escapades.Ty and I navigate a spectrum of topics, from personal triumphs like his recent wedding to the societal pressures women face, especially in the realm of plastic surgery. We contrast these with the peculiar trajectory of Isabella DeLuca, who swung from the Capitol attack to Congressional employment. Our candid conversation drifts into the intricacies of reality TV and the struggle for self-acceptance in an age of aesthetic enhancement. We underscore the perils of beauty standards and share our unvarnished takes on the pursuit of perfection.Capping off our episode, we bestow the 'Shithole of the Week' title upon Nancy Mace for stoking political firestorms, lamenting voter disengagement in local elections and the rise of cult-like movements. As we conjure the themes of True Detective, we stress the vital need to remain alert to the threats against democracy, drawing parallels between the cyclical patterns of political discord and the philosophy that history is doomed to repeat itself. This episode is a rollercoaster of political commentary, raw authenticity, and an impassioned plea for vigilance in safeguarding our democratic values.Support the showSupport the show:https://www.buzzsprout.com/2003879/supportFollow our show's hosts on Twitter: twitter.com/@CoolTXchicktwitter.com/@Caroldedwinetwitter.com/taradublinrockstwitter.com/blackknight10ktwitter.com/@pardonpodFind Tara's book here:Taradublinrocks.comFind Ty's book here:Consequence of ChoiceSubscribe to Tara's substack:taradublin.substack.comSubscribe to Ty's substack:https://theworldasiseeit.substack.com/ Support Our Sponsor: Sheets & GigglesEucalyptus Sheets (Recommended):Sleep Mask (I use this every night)Eucalyptus Comfortor...
Folks, it appears Donald Trump is not going to jail just yet. Plans are still in place to potentially have him turn himself in next week, but in the meantime, one has to wonder whether this is helping him. The charges are so bogus that even Stormy Daniels' former lawyer, Michael Avenatti, doesn't think they're justified. “The Donald” hasn't been arrested, but that hasn't stopped people from making AI-generated images of him being taken in. They are unsettlingly good and surely an indicator that we're living in dangerous times. Van Jones is a communist, and the world should know that, but he did make a good point about the New York AG, Alvin Bragg, saying he might not actually bring charges against Donald Trump. Of course, anything that doesn't end with Trump's arrest isn't good enough for the ree-rees, so they dragged Jones for his comment. Joe Biden continues to fail at speaking English, this time stumbling over the name of a new monument and twice failing to quote a poem. San Francisco is considering giving $5 million in reparations to black residents. Due to this announcement, Chad has decided to move west and get a helluva tan so that he might partake in these delicious, free fruits.
