What if the next wave of economic growth starts with local entrepreneurs? In this episode of Develop This!, Dennis Fraise speaks with Rob Williams of SourceLink to explore how entrepreneurship-led economic development can help communities build stronger, more resilient economies. Rob shares how communities—especially rural ones—can leverage their unique assets to support entrepreneurs, strengthen local ecosystems, and create long-term growth from within. The conversation highlights SourceLink's ecosystem approach, focusing on how connecting entrepreneurs to the right resources, partners, and support networks can reduce fragmentation and accelerate success. A major theme is measurement. Rob discusses why communities need better ways to track entrepreneurial activity, job creation, and ecosystem health beyond traditional economic development metrics. The discussion also explores the growing role of AI, broadband, and technology in unlocking innovation at scale and expanding access for entrepreneurs in both rural and urban markets. A key takeaway? Strong entrepreneurial ecosystems are built through connection, collaboration, and a clear understanding of what local businesses need to grow. Key Takeaways Entrepreneurship is a powerful driver of local economic growth Young firms play a major role in job creation Rural communities can build innovation around their unique assets Strong ecosystems require clear connections between resources and entrepreneurs AI and broadband are expanding access to innovation Success should be measured through ecosystem health, not just traditional metrics Key Topics Covered Entrepreneurship-led economic development Rural innovation and community assets SourceLink's ecosystem-building approach Metrics for entrepreneurial success AI and technology in entrepreneurship Economic development education and the role of IEDC Sound Bites "Job creation starts with young firms." "AI is unlocking innovation at scale." "Connect, collaborate, and innovate."

The Hankook Clarksville plant puts a lot of big tire industry talking points under one very large roof: domestic production, product availability, supply chain stability and proof-of-product testing.I visited Hankook's Tennessee campus for a closer look at the company's North American manufacturing strategy, including the Phase Two expansion that is expected to add another 4.5 million to 5 million consumer units of annual capacity. The plant first began domestic production in 2017 with about 4.5 million units of annual capacity, and Hankook is also beginning medium commercial tire production at the site, with plans to reach up to 1 million medium truck units.“I think we're all aware of what's going on in the market with tariffs. A lot of product is coming in from all over the world, and we feel it's very important to have domestic production with an American-made product," said Rob Williams, President and CEO of Hankook Tire North America. "It's good from a supply chain standpoint. It's also very important for dealers to be able to get product just in time.”Inside the facility, automation plays a major role, from AI-driven forklifts to highly technical equipment operated from control panels. Hankook also benefits from sister companies that help build the equipment and technology used in its tire production process.“Today, with any production, automation is very important. Innovation is very important. It still has the human element, though," Williams said. "We never want to feel like the technology overshadows the human element. However, today we can employ people who know they can work on state-of-the-art equipment. You'll see forklifts running around that are all AI-driven. We literally can have one operator operate multiple pieces of equipment because in a lot of cases, they're really just overseeing the control panel.”The visit also included drive time on several Tennessee-made products, including the Dynapro AT2 Xtreme, Laufenn X Fit AT2, Dynapro XT and DynaPro MT2. Between the expanded plant, warehouse space and proving ground behind the facility, the Hankook Clarksville plant is becoming a major part of how the company plans to grow in North America.www.tirereview.comwww.hunter.com

Opening hook / origin Chris, you've said that roadside coyote scene was the first thing you wrote, even before you knew the full story. What was it about that moment that felt like the right entry point into this world? 2. Tone and influences You're blending eco-horror and neo-noir in a really striking way here. What's each of your relationship to those genres—are there specific books or films that shaped how you approached them, or personal favorites that were on your mind while making this? 3. The prose chapter choice That opening prose chapter from Oilfield Graveyard: Tales of the Wildcatter Myth is such a bold structural swing. What does prose allow you to do that comics alone wouldn't, especially in setting up the mythology? 4. The Wildcatter as a presence The Wildcatter evolves from something almost abstract in issue #2 to something disturbingly human in issue #3. How did you approach revealing it piece by piece without losing the mystery? 5. Character and transformation The grandmother's descent is genuinely unsettling. How did you think about her transformation in relation to the oil itself, is it possession, corruption, or something more symbolic? 6. Visual storytelling and horror lineage Charlie, you spent years defining the visual language of long-form horror on The Walking Dead. When you approach a story like this, how does that experience inform your instincts—and where do you find yourself deliberately doing something different? 7. Pacing and silent storytelling Charlie, one thing that really stands out is how much space you're given for quiet, atmospheric sequences—scenes that breathe and flow without a lot of dialogue or overt plot movement. How do you approach pacing those moments visually so they still feel propulsive, and what do you think comics can do in those silent stretches that other mediums can't? 8. Fun / silly question: If the Wildcatter had a playlist, what's the one song that absolutely has to be on it?

Hidden Springs has such a wonderfully strange premise: retired Hollywood legends protecting a baby kaiju. Where did the initial spark for this story come from, and when did you realize this was the right mix of heart, comedy, and monster chaos? 2. The cast of characters is incredibly eclectic, from a rocker reminiscent of Ozzy Osbourne to a classic Hollywood beauty, a trailblazing female director, a stand-up comedian, and a career TV star. How did you approach building such different personalities and making them feel like a believable found family? 3. Nil Vendrell Pallach is handling the art. What did Nil bring to the project visually that made them the perfect collaborator for a story that moves between comedy, nostalgia, and kaiju action? 4. There's something inherently funny about ageing celebrities being the only ones capable of protecting a world-ending monster. What interested you about pairing the idea of aging, fading fame, and second chances with something as huge and destructive as a kaiju? 5. With all these Hollywood types, I was reminded of Caccoon, about a group of old folks who encounter an alien eggs that give them youth, with your new series on the way do you think this the old person encountering sci-fi elements is an underused corner of fiction? 6. What made dark horse the right publisher for this? 7. You've written everything from Judge Dredd to Petrol Head. Where does Hidden Springs sit for you creatively? Does it tap into a different storytelling muscle compared to your other work? 8. (Fun question) Your heroes include a rocker, a comedian, a movie star, and a legendary beauty escorting a baby kaiju across the countryside. If you had to add one more retired celebrity archetype to the team, who would it be and what ridiculous skill would they bring to the kaiju babysitting mission?

I met Dan at one of the community workouts down here in South Florida, and it didn't take long to realize he's an absolute fitness machine. We'd chatted a bit here and there, but after seeing the way he shares his content and shows up for the fitness community, it felt like the perfect time to bring him on the show. During our conversation, we unexpectedly connected over time spent in the Northeast, especially Vermont when Dan dropped a wild coincidence: he was actually a former student of my older brother, Dr. Rob Williams, a past guest of the Wake Up the Sun Show.Dan and I dove into fitness trends, why so many people struggle to stay consistent, and what really gets in the way of living an active lifestyle. We also spoke about the importance of following your passions even when the people around you might not get it or might think it's a little “cringey.” What started as Dan's personal fitness journey in the Northeast, then took him through the Midwest, eventually led him to South Florida just over a year ago. Since then, he's been experimenting, finding what works, and sharing that journey online to help others do the same. That authenticity has resonated, his routines have caught on, and people are starting to follow his lead.Dan keeps it simple: if it ain't broke, don't fix it. You can find him on Instagram @healthyhabitguy. We hope you enjoy the show!

This episode is a little different.Instead of diving into a traditional interview, Dr. Rob Williams and I sit down to answer some of the most common questions we've been asked about the Beyond The Noise Men's Retreat we are hosting this October in Italy.Questions like:What actually happens at a retreat?Who is it for?Do you need to be super fit?And why are so many men in midlife searching for deeper connections? We talk openly about why this retreat exists and what inspired us to create it. So many men today carry heavy roles. Provider, partner, father, leader. Somewhere along the way, the space to simply be yourself often disappears. The Beyond The Noise Retreat is designed to give men five days away from the noise of everyday life. Set in a restored 14th century monastery in the forests of Umbria, Italy, the retreat creates a space where men can step out of their titles and reconnect with themselves and each other.Throughout this conversation we walk through the experience of the retreat. The environment, the activities, the conversations and the intention behind it all. From hiking and cold plunges to breathwork, reflection, music, and meaningful conversations around the fire. But more than anything, this episode explores why spaces like this matter.Because when men step into environments where they can drop their roles, something powerful happens. They realise they are not alone in what they're carrying, and the friendships and connections that form often become the most valuable takeaway. If you've been curious about men's retreats or wondering whether something like this might be for you, this episode answers the questions you may already have.Inside this podcast:- Why men in midlife are searching for deeper connection- What actually happens at the Beyond The Noise retreat- Why retreats allow men to drop their roles and reconnect- What the five day experience in Umbria will look like- How brotherhood and shared experiences change menRetreat Details & Website: https://bit.ly/4lpC4ocConnect with Dr. Rob: Instagram → https://www.instagram.com/drrobwilliams Connect with Steve:Instagram → https://bit.ly/3KARQhR Episode Highlights00:00 – Why this episode is a Q&A about the retreat01:00 – The question many men ask in midlife02:00 – Introducing the Beyond The Noise retreat in Italy05:00 – What happens when men step into retreat spaces07:00 – Courage and curiosity when joining a retreat10:00 – Why men need spaces to drop their roles13:00 – The brotherhood and connections that emerge18:00 – Wisdom and conversations that unfold naturally22:00 – Why nature plays a powerful role in retreats27:00 – Activities including hiking, breathwork, and reflection32:00 – The balance of structure and free time36:00 – Fitness expectations and the waterfall hike40:00 – Music, rest, and flexible retreat time45:00 – Who this retreat is really for50:00 – The invitation to step beyond the noiseABOUT THE PODCAST SHOWThe Noise of Life is a podcast that shares real stories, raw truths, and remarkable growth. Rob Williams, chief investment strategist at Sage Advisory Services, says that 2025 was a great year for the market, but that has the market priced to where investors should expect to capture earnings growth and interest income. "If earnings come in 10 to 15 percent and you get that but nothing else, that's still pretty good," Williams says. "If you get 4.5 to 5 percent on bonds — without much help from the Fed — that's not so bad either." It's about preparing for "less," rather than preparing for some sort of market nightmare, Williams says. In The NAVigator segment, Nick Robinson, deputy head of global emerging market equities at Aberdeen Investments, discusses how the artificial intelligence wave that has pushed domestic stock markets to record highs is readily apparent around the world — including in countries that are not necessarily synonymous with technology — and that the capital expenditure wave should continue to power emerging markets, especially if foreign companies can monetize the potential gains created by AI. He also discusses how markets are weathering geopolitical events and why they can continue to overcome worrisome headlines. In the Market Call, Brian Mulberry, portfolio manager at Zacks Investment Management — manager of the Zacks Earnings Consistent Portfolio, among other ETfs — talks about the shifts he is seeing now in the markets, but how a focus on persistent earnings can smooth out the ride of a nervous, high-growth market.

“The big picture's still pretty good,” says Rob Williams. He expects decent growth for the year, along with 1-3 rate cuts from the Fed. While the job market could get a “little uglier,” he notes that it doesn't take that many jobs gains to keep unemployment where it is. He's overweight equities and likes small caps, looking for valuation opportunities. He also is watching international equities and bank stocks. For fixed income, he doesn't want to take “extra credit risks” and favors securitized assets.======== Schwab Network ========Empowering every investor and trader, every market day.Options involve risks and are not suitable for all investors. Sonia Fraher, head of cash management at Vanguard says that while nearly three-quarters of Americans say they will fall short of their saving and spending resolutions for this year, most are optimistic that they can pull off a "resolution rebound" in 2026. Vanguard's survey research showed that 84 percent of Americans expect to make a financial resolution for 2026, with building the emergency fund being the most common goal. In honor of the holidays, David Trainer of New Constructs revisits the Damger Zone pick he is most thankful for this year, due to its success as a short pick.  Rob Williams, managing director of financial planning for Charles Schwab, discusses the firm's research showing that two-thirds of Americans believe they must look beyond traditional investment products like stocks and bonds to further diversify and succeed in today's market. More than 40 percent think the classic 60/40 portfolio is outdated. Plus, Jake Cousineau, author of "Face Your Financial Fears: The Simple Guide to Fixing Your Relationship with Money," discusses how Americans grow up surrounded by money misconceptions that they must overcome to reach their goals.

I am with Dr Rob Williams for one of the most expansive conversations I have had on breath, resilience and what it means to be human in a world that moves faster than we can process. Rob shared his journey from near-death experiences to long distance running to teaching breath mastery and the cold as a teacher, and each moment revealed something powerful about how we reconnect to our bodies. He walked me through the ways breath shapes our nervous system, the role of cold exposure in building resilience and why slowing down is the doorway back to ourselves. What struck me most was how he frames breathing as both a biological superpower and a spiritual practice that brings us into harmony with life. This episode left me inspired to breathe with more intention, move with more awareness and stay curious about the flow that is always available when we tune in.Inside this podcast:- How breath connects the body and nervous system- Why the cold can build resilience and mental clarity- How voluntary stress strengthens mind and spirit- The science behind nasal breathing and heart coherence- How flow states emerge from conscious presenceConnect with Dr. Rob:Instagram → /drrobwilliamsWebsite → https://nordicflow.io & https://thenordicwave.com/Email → contact@doctorrobwilliams.comConnect with Steve:Instagram → /thestevehodgsonLinkedIn  → /stevehodgsonEpisode Highlights00:00 - Introducing Dr Rob Williams01:46 - How breath shapes human experience07:41 - Breath as a human superpower10:46 - The deeper meaning of inspiration14:23 - Heart coherence and emotional flow19:53 - The biology of stress and fear23:09 - Voluntary stress and resilience25:12 - Cold plunging as a resilience tool33:39 - Trauma held in the body and cold release52:23 - Foundational breath practices for daily lifeABOUT THE PODCAST SHOWThe Noise of Life is a podcast that shares real stories, raw truths, and remarkable growth. Not again! Chip Kidd and Michael Cho are the latest comic book creators to find their way, literally, into comics. The Avengers in the Veracity Trap, published as part of the Marvel Arts imprint of Abrams ComicArts, propels the titular superheroes from their dimension into ours, revealing that Kidd and Cho control their free will. The oversized original graphic novel is a stunning-looking comic, thanks to Michael Cho making magic with sequentials, taking a short break from his usual stellar cover work. What is it about comics? Read enough of them, and suddenly you want to be in them. The medium invites invasion, calling folks like Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, Grant Morrison, Brian Michael Bendis, Ta-Nehisi Coates, and others to throw themselves upon the panels. Maybe it's because, as children, we wrap this flatland universe around us like a blanket. It's comfy and protective. It's where we want to go when the third dimension reveals itself as too damn physical with our soft little bodies. Chip Kidd joins the podcast this week to discuss how he once again wormed his way into comic book panels (yeah, this is not his first offense. See also, Batman: Death by Design and Alex Ross's Marvelocity). We discuss how "The Veracity Trap" has become a valuable concept for us personally as we struggle with the strings that direct our movements these days. As usual, the conversation gets philosophical, breaking down free will and the troubled waters between artist and audience. The Avengers in the Veracity Trap is now available wherever rad comics are sold. Make sure you follow Chip Kidd on Instagram. Every few months, the discourse turns to comics journalism. What is it? What's its value? Does it even exist anymore? Of course, if you read SKTCHD or listen to Off Panel every week, these questions are easy to answer. For years, David Harper has been our go-to source for what's happening within the comics industry, and due to recent events in his own life, he's upped his game and committed to comics journalism in a fashion he previously has not. Can the industry sustain him? That all depends on us. This week, we chat with David Harper about his total immersion into SKTCHD/Off Panel. We confront him about his pivot to video, the state of comics journalism, and how he ignores the recurring Chicken Little screams of “The sky is falling.” It's not all so dire, though. We also discuss his ideal comic book shop and the books he's absolutely loving in 2025. Stories and storytellers are vital to human existence, but for various, always frustrating, reasons, we must continually be reminded of this. You, dear listener, are already fighting the good fight, but how do we get others to join us? Share, baby, share. Below you'll find links not only to David Harper's good work, but also to the good work of others working within the field of comics journalism.
