Andrew Horn didn't know what he wanted to do next coming out of college. While his friends were excited to head off to their first jobs, he didn't have a sense of purpose in his life and felt that he'd hit rock bottom. So when one of his friends pointed out that sitting there sulking about his situation wouldn't change anything, he knew he had to do something. He realized that he had a desire to be of service to other people deep down. And the times he volunteered to help disabled youth to go into adaptive sports were one of the few experiences that he was proud of. This led him to start a children's nonprofit, which would grow to become one of the premier adaptive athletic providers in the DC metro area. Finding his purpose gave Andrew that sustainable energy source to be better than what he thought he could be and to keep pushing forward. This is the same energy that encouraged him to successfully launch his business and help propel its growth by 1,734% over the past three years. Let us hear from Andrew Horn, CEO at Tribute, as he shares his journey from being a delinquent frat boy to finding his true purpose and building a business that uses technology to foster meaningful connections in the world. Relationships are complicated, no matter what kind of relationship you are in–whether it's with your partner, your family, your friends, or your co-workers. The biggest issues that arise within relationships stem from our attachment to needing others to validate us and make us feel whole, our inability to communicate what we are feeling and holding onto attachment, and struggling to stay deeply connected in a society that is built to pull us apart. In this episode of the Align Podcast, I'm joined by the beautiful and dynamic couple, Miki Agrawal and Andrew Horn, who share insight into navigating through these issues and how they personally keep their relationship alive, happy, and healthy. This episode is somewhat of a couples counseling session that Andrew guides us through and I'm simply just a fly on the wall. Technology has had an undeniable impact on our society, in good and bad ways, so what are the bad ways, how can we mitigate the damage they cause, and what can we do to use these tools for good in our lives and those around us?What to Listen ForWhat is the ICAN acronym and how can it help you achieve a social flow state and help you be your most authentic self? What questions can you ask yourself to stay mindful as we continue integrating technology into our daily lives? What is passive browsing versus active browsing and why does one have a negative impact on your well being? What can you do if you feel your team is missing the energy and motivation you were hoping for?How can you make Zoom meetings fun and engaging when everyone seems preoccupied with what's going on around them? What simple, free technique can you implement as a leader to improve your team's effectiveness as well as your well being and effectiveness? What is social flow, why do you need to understand it, and how can you tap into it to be your best self? What follow up questions can you ask the men in your life when they answer with “Good” or “I'm fine”?How can we build our curiosity muscle if we find ourselves not being that curious? What things typically hold men back from emotional mastery and what can you do to work toward emotional mastery? What can you do to improve the toxic relationships in your life that always lead to arguments? We live in a state of constant experimentation to understand ourselves, each other, and the world around us. As a result, we create things with the intention of doing good, only to find out later that the results are a mixed bag. Social media and communication are great examples as they have connected the world, but led to mental health issues springing up all over the place. As we move forward, it becomes increasingly important to be mindful of what we are putting out into the world for millions or billions of people to use, and how it can impact our society as a whole. Episode 12 of The Radical Brilliance Podcast is with Andrew Horn who is the husband of Miki Agrawal who we heard from in episode four. Andrew is a serial entrepreneur who founded the company Tribute, which allows us to create moving videos to celebrate a birthday, wedding anniversary, or some other important life event. In this podcast, Andrew talks about his new book Social Flow. Have you ever noticed that when very little is at stake in a conversation, you feel relaxed, easy, confident, and connected? As soon as the stakes go up a bit, you feel tenser and unnatural. A great example is dating. Go out with a friend for an evening who is not a romantic possibility and you probably will feel relaxed and easy-going. On the other hand, if you go out for the evening with someone you really really like, there is a chance of feeling nervous and tense. Social flow gets blocked when there is more at stake. In this episode, Andrew is going to apply his understanding of social flow to an extremely important topic: entrepreneurs who need to raise money for important social projects. It is often when we need to raise money that we feel this tension most acutely. Not only will this episode be useful to understanding social flow in general, but if you do need money for your next project, it will give you tips on that as well. 4:44 -- From social anxiety to social flow -- being comfortable with who you are and what you're offering 22:21 -- How does social flow help you raise money? / Creating the perfect pitch 38:06 -- Having an aura of inevitability 46:54 -- Closing the deal 51:02 -- Lining up your early investors 59:08 -- Reframing “No”
In episode five, I interview my very favorite human being of all the human beings there are alive on the planet. Generally, when I'm preparing to record a podcast there are some logistic questions. Am I going to travel to where they live? [I've done that… I flew to New York recently to interview Andrew Horn and Mickey Agarwal, I drove to Southen California for Daniel Schmachtenberger]. Can they come to me? Or are we going to record using zoom? This was the one interview when none of those questions were necessary. I was interviewing the extraordinary wonderful human being who sleeps on the other side of my bed. Have you ever seen those shorter videos on social media where very handicapped people learn to do ordinary things? You can watch a video for five minutes of someone brushing their teeth, making it downstairs, making breakfast and even going out to buy groceries. All of this is completely gripping and fascinating when the subject of the video has no arms and legs. Then it is heroic! Extraordinary! A triumph of human nature. I never thought that I would be able to love: fully and deeply and without restraint in this lifetime. There was too much conditioning from my family weighing me down. But seventeen years ago, I met someone who had the same aspiration: to learn to love, despite the odds. We agreed to enter into an experiment together: to practice love. Here is our report. 11:18 -- An experiment in love / Committing to something deeper 20:22 -- Exposed! / Radical honesty 27:38 -- Starting over every day / A fresh trembling attempt at allowing love to take over 35:00 -- Universal love, polyamory, or monogamy? / Commitment as a portal into freedom 46:36 -- Committing to love itself 53:40 -- Greatest challenge of relationship / the demons we face in achieving deeper love

CURIOSITY, COMMUNITY, and DEEPER CONNECTION | Andrew Horn Guests | Association Chat with KiKi L'Italien How do You Avoid Auto-Piloting Your Life?!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ As you begin your day in whatever your morning routine looks like, I want you to think about what life would look like if you weren’t operating out of fear and opted instead to move in a more purposeful direction. One with intent. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Would you hide from meeting people or get excited about the chance to learn about someone else’s experience? Would you be in a rush to make the numbers or opt instead for building a relationship? From the time we are born, so many of us seem to witness a loss in our curiosity about ourselves, others, and in the world around us.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Why is that? Can we change it? If so, how?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ For this interview, I talk with the man who has been called "the Dale Carnegie for the Digital Age," Andrew Horn. I ask him about meaningful conversations, Social Flow, and his thoughts about community. I hope you enjoy it.
On this episode we have the compelling Andrew Horn. We dig deep into the current state of masculinity, why we need one another more than ever, what we should we bring to the next generation (Hint: Discipline), and much more! Andrew Horn is a serial social entrepreneur, speaker and writer based in Brooklyn, NY. In 2014, Andrew launched Tribute.co, which The New Yorker recently called “Hallmark 2.0.” Tribute makes it easy to create a collaborative video montage that you can give as a gift on any important occasion. Before launching Tribute, Andrew started an award-winning children’s non-profit called Dreams for Kids DC. In three years, he established the organization as one of the premiere adaptive athletic providers in Washington, D.C. (where kids with disabilities played sports with professional teams like the Washington Capitals and Redskins). He was able to build a succession plan and stepped down in 2011 to start another non-profit venture called AbilityList, which FastCompany called a “Craigslist for people with disabilities.” Andrew began professional speaking at a young age, giving his first TEDx talk at 21. Andrew is now a frequent speaker at conferences (United Nations), colleges (NYU) and for Fortune 500 brands like MasterCard. He is a frequent contributor to media outlets like MindBodyGreen, HuffPo and TheMuse. Andrew Horn wants men to get more vulnerable. He's the founder of a new organization called Junto, a not-so-secret club for men to explore emotional mastery where he curates workshops and weekend retreats for bros to come together, take off their macho masks, and get real about their feelings. In a #metoo world, this work is very important. And that's why I wanted to chat with Andrew about his personal journey. In this episode, he shares stories of being bullied as a child, how he's learned to be in partnership with a very powerful woman, some of the books that have guided him on his way, and ultimately, what it's like to raise a son in the modern world. Andrew is a good friend, so we also share a lot of laughs. But his humor and charm are well-balanced with his insights, and of course, his vulnerability. On this week’s episode, we have calls from Claire from Clapham who says it’s all about the bottom line Cycling Christine who says no second chances Witherspoon who thinks Lilian needs closure Kat Brown who has money worries New York Nigel who thinks we’re all having a mass hallucination and Andrew Horn who thinks Puss Cat’s a proper puss cat. Social entrepreneurship can be difficult to define. There are also many misconceptions when it comes to social enterprises. People think that a company with a social mission can't be as successful as a purely for-profit business. However, Andrew Horn, Founder of Tribute, a socially conscious company that helps people build video tributes for their friends and family, believes this is simply not true. He defines social entrepreneurship as a business with a dual or triple business goal, a balance between people, profit and the planet. A social entrepreneur strives to build businesses that are not only profitable, but have genuine impact on people's lives. In today's episode of Small Business War Stories, we explore this topic and more with Tribute CEO and founder Andrew Horn.
Once again the alternatives are taking over the asylum as Lucy and Roifield stand aside to allow Messrs Andrew Horn and YokelBear to seize control of the podcast and the recording deck is still showing signs of Christmas decorations as they start with a mega rendition of Barwick Green actually from Barwick in Elmet. YokelBear is fascinated by the impact of Toby on the Brookfield Archers - bad boys are always fun - so long as you are not directly involved. He also hopes Jill is keeping an eye on Ruth's cooking - if she manages to break out of her carapace. He also likes an inflatable snowman - the appearance of which they pinned on Rob. They were especially pleased that Rob may have led to a resumption of cottaging at Honeysuckle. Catherine (sorry missed the surname) started listening on the day David pushed Nigel off the Lower Loxley roof! She is therefore a "Henry". Another first time caller was Dan John the seventh! He is a "Phoebe" as he started listening in 1998. He has only just grasped that... See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

You are all in with your job, and it's hard to separate your work life from personal life. You might even fantasize about being in a relationship with someone who allows you to engage in work-related pillow talk at all hours. But what if both you and your partner/spouse both need that kind of support and attention? Is that a dream, or a nightmare? We wanted to get the unphotoshopped scoop on what a committed relationship actually looks like between two, hard-driving entrepreneurs. We hit the jackpot when we decided to interview “it” couple Miki Agrawal, founder of Thinx, and her boyfriend (turned fiancé since we taped this show!) Andrew Horn, founder of Tribute. They joined us in the studio and agreed to give us their honest and raw he said/she said take on their relationship, Newlywed Game Style. This episode will make you stop and think about many, many things, and will help you answer the age old question, “Evening or morning sex?” See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
The root of the word eulogy translates to “praise.” Over time, it became associated with a funeral because people were compelled to be emotional in that environment. We save the eulogy for death because it’s comfortable. To tell someone why we love them while they’re alive produces anxiety—who knows how they will react. But why should we wait? In this episode, James talks with Andrew Horn, Founder and CEO of Tribute, a platform for creating video tributes for the people you love.
No Lucy again this week so Roifield has the complex task of managing men as he is joined by Jed who does an amazing update on events in Ambridge, Terry Molloy, Yokel Bear and Andrew Horn. Despite initial objections they end up agreeing that the men are typically poorly written as characters with perhaps only Rob standing out from the crowd. It also tends to explain why Shula is having difficulties in her marriage. Numerous callers cover a huge swathe of issues - listen to every possible twist and turn they illuminate Pip's relationship with Toby (some great predictions there), Rob's ability to chill an iceberg, Joe's life expectation and the lengths the writers are using to keep Joe at Grange Farm whilst allegations of dogging were made against Alastair, the rural housing crisis is examined and the calls keep coming - a very busy week whilst Millie had a kind explanation of how "Yerr Mon" should be pronounced from its originator. Steve Pirate Parrett did tweets of the week Promises were made to do it... See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
Top News: Lucy is celebrating her birthday and this was recognised in fine style by Roifield and a loyal fan singing "Happy Birthday". Lucy, in her monologue, noted that it was probably the first time any villager had thought to tell off Hooty Jill and then remarked once again on what a good friend Rex is to Pip - even when her unfunny drunken speech is used. It was pleasing to note that Pat has woken up not that she can afford to meet Anna Toboggan. Lucy struggles to recall Lynda's two goats Demeter and Persephone who went to Lower Loxley. Gemma, a first time caller, decided to express her views on Kate's treatment of Phoebe - so how did your exams go Gemma? Let us know please. Most of us will be surprised if Josh passes anything. Ms Alliance seems far more concerned about her neighbour in Seattle and her en-suite shower than about The Archers! Ms Alliance feels that the referendum might impact the Sterling exit plan to Italy. Andrew Horn laid into the younger characters who are replicating... See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
Before noting how good Lucy's monologue was this week Roifield announced that it was inevitable that they would be disagreeing. It took a while before he admitted that he does not have the objection shown by some contributors to the intended liaison between Lilian and Justin. Lucy's objection is not moral - merely on the basis of self-esteem. Roifield is more supportive of Justin's wish for companionship and to enjoy each other's company in many ways. Eventually our podcast husband and wife ended up having a domestic over the relationship! Lucy believes that it will all end in Lilian's tears. We then leave Ambridge behind for Roifield to recall a visit by Muhammad Ali to Birmingham in 1977. It is the holiday season. Lucy has been around Rome and Andrew Horn is sipping coffee by the pool. My wife is away. My next holiday is not for months! And Yokel Bear wants Robert Snell to be given an award! Witherspoon remarked on Joe's failing health and the potential for a physical assault on Henry by Rob... See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
On this week’s episode we have calls from Ms Alliance who’s feeling meaty Blithe Spirit who says it’s all a Greek tragedy Jan from Can who wants to know what david knows.. Glyn Fullelove who says it’s all gone Gothic Yokelbear who’s found a kindred spirit in Jimmus Witherspoon who’s basking and Andrew Horn who’s looking at the facts and figures. Andrew Horn’s work has encompassed a wide range -His latest film is, We Are Twisted F*cking Sister! just released by Music Box Films in the US and Monoduo Films worldwide, and is available on DVD and iTunes. Andrew Horn returns as Roifield has headed off to Canada. Andrew Horn caused a heart attack as he repeated comments I had made in another forum about the anaerobic digester and the rest of Berrow Farm - I covered all of this in umra and I agree it was important. Andrew also raised the paternity test - I went back to the recording to prove that Dr Locke had indeed taken the DNA sample. What the programme needs is an archivist who knows what is going on and checks the continuity. There was no "DNA Tester" as credited it WAS Dr Locke. Allan Carr, sorry R Brown, did a first time call in. He liked last week's Archers with three heartwarming couples interacting. The Brian / Jenny conversation was particularly liked. Andrew found David annoying this week for being sulky. For Andrew and / or Lucy's benefit historically Jennifer was a trained teacher well before she became pregnant with Adam - she went to West Midlands Training College in Walsall. It is now part of Birmingham University. Lucy reveals... See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
Another bout of exquisite commentary on our favourite radio fly on the wall document as our hosts return from their Christmas break. Following Lucy's entertaining exposition of the events in the last two weeks Roifield provides a diatribe (from Canada) on the content of the anniversary show - all agree the subject matter needed to be covered - but it was the wrong subject for the episode concerned especially given the promotion the episode was given by some mysterious marketing department seeking listeners as so many have been lost by a particular story. The recently published character appearance statistics are discussed and the transition to the next generation is under way with Pip being the second most heard person this year. More of the younger generation need to come to the fore in the next 12 months. Andrew Horn asks for the Kosmo view on the Brookfield changes. Kosmo thinks that spring calving is nonsense because of the spring lambing; birthing both at the same time is going to lead to some... See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
Roifield returns but awesome Andrew Horn has become the Terminator and he WILL BE BACK. Dumteedummer of the week is Aunty Jean repeating herself from last week. Lucy translated the Archers into Peanuts characters this week. Discussion revealed an Archers event in Bristol which indicated that Rob and Helen may well continue into 2016 despite earlier thoughts it would finish at Christmas. The writing team have once again been unable to cope with the balance needed by different stories - too much weight given to abuse of Helen whilst the Grundy homelessness has been given short shrift. This happened before when Adam was kidnapped and other stories were neutered. Roifield sought calendar contributions of suitably arranged, tasteful, photographs with any funds from the calendar raised going to Refuge. Lucy offered Christmas cards signed by either Derek in the back bedroom or Sabrina Thwaite after proof of a donation to Refuge. Absences and staying in touch. Soon after completing this summary I shall be... See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
Sponsorship this week from UrbanSprawl.org.uk and Barwick Green by Aunty Jean plus William the parrot who was upset at not being included last week. Andrew Horn was sitting in for Roifield, providing he did not do it as well as the man himself. Lucy nailed Ruth's stroppiness - pointing out that she has just dropped over 30 years and turned into a teenager. And Jenny's old kitchen has finally found a home in the village hall. How long has that story been maturing? Opinions on Lynda swing violently depending on the time of year. Much praise for Tony for standing up to Rob. We are reminded of some back stories this week - particularly Helen's illness when born and how she weak was then leading Pat to being particularly protective of her daughter and therefore siding with Rob over the danger of driving, bearing in mind the last accident involving Mike. Roifield was given a long task list, Andrew is on the Colombian free trade and he was joined by Lucy. Andrew also revealed the secret life of a... An opening Dum Tee Dum from the excellent meetup at Cocodelic as the podcast barged on line. Lucy completed the monologue without interruption and then both hosts praised Brian’s awful offer to Adam over the farm share. It is right that Adam should share the risk, the structure, removing Adam’s salary, was frankly wrong and not the way partnership transitions work elsewhere as Andrew Horn later said. After all there is a mortgage to pay on the hot tub at Honeysuckle Cottage as bought from Lilian. Roifield asked the Pope to call in if he was listening. Many of us consider it likely that Rex will end up milking the Brookfield cows. Ms Alliance reckons that the increasingly suspicious Charlie will prove to be heroic, teflon-coated Rob’s nemesis; all agree we are a long way from him coming unstuck. Lucy was depressed by news of the new Mrs Titchenor and she almost jumped overboard when hearing of it; she believes Kirsty/Krusty will save Helen. Goddess Deeva expressed the view...
