On this episode of Happy Half Hour, David and Troy talk to vice president of ticket sales and membership services for the Padres, Curt Waugh. Waugh joined the franchise in June 2014 after being with Spurs Sports and Entertainment where he managed ticket sales for the San Antonio Rampage ice hockey team. Waugh filled us in on the 70 newly renovated suites where you can customize your experience with in-suite dining food and beverage packages. The suites are not only available for Padres games, but also for any concerts or events that take place. This season broke a Petco Park and Padres record, with more than 20,000 people opting for season tickets, including our very own Troi Boi (the SDM'ers have dubbed him as such, and he'll no longer respond to any other name). Troy (Troi) dishes on his favorite perks, like movie nights on the field where he can take his mini-me Elia, and of course, the chance to imbibe on some good cheap beer. Membership happy hours include $5 drink specials across the ballpark so you can wet your whistle with Cutwater Spirits or a good ‘ole Budweiser. Apart from discounted food and drink specials, members also get perks such as priority access to Opening Day and Postseason tickets, best available seat options, and 10 percent off concessions and retail in the park. In Hot Plates, David and Troy talk Little Thief and Black Radish, both North Park newbies. The former is rewriting the natural wine narrative. David may be their biggest fan. As I write, he's sitting here wearing their merch and waving a tiny flag around with their logo. It's weird, but we're here for it. In this episode I sit down with an incredible professional hockey player, Stanley Cup champion, coach, father, and educator Stephane Matteau.  Stephane is incredibly generous in sharing what it was like growing up, how he coached his kids and what he would do better, his thoughts on parenting kids, what it's like moving away from home, winning and losing, and so much more.  This is a must hear episode.As a member of the New York Rangers 1994 Stanley Cup Championship team, Matteau scored two overtime goals in the Eastern Conference Finals against the New Jersey Devils, including one that ended the series and became an iconic goal in Rangers lore. Excellent time chatting with former St. Cloud State Forward Robby Jackson, who in 4 years with the Huskies scored 52 goals, set up 69 others for 121 career points!! Robby is in his 2nd season of pro hockey, he's spent time with the Tulsa Oilers of the ECHL and the San Antonio Rampage of the AHL, and is now back home in Oakland, CA due to the shutdown of sports because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Robby was broadcast major at St Cloud State, he's an aspiring sportscaster and is a talented guy when it comes to broadcasting. My son, Luke, and I had a blast talking with Robby about a wide variety of topics, all very entertaining, including what he's doing during the shutdown, the NBA, and his hometown Golden State Warriors, which was great with Luke, since he's a Warriors and Steph Curry fan. Bottom line, this was a lot of fun and very entertaining episode!!!

For the first time since 2011, the Chicago Wolves were scheduled on March 13-15 to host three home games in three days – known in the hockey business as a “3-in-3.” Every corner of the organization invested months of effort to prepare for visits from the San Antonio Rampage on Friday night, the Rockford IceHogs on Saturday night and the Manitoba Moose on Sunday afternoon. The San Diego Gulls were back on home ice Saturday night to square off against the San Antonio Rampage. San Diego is coming off of a 5-2 victory on Wednesday night against the Tucson Roadrunners, beating them for the first time in 8 meetings! Entering tonight's game against the Rampage, the Gulls sat in 3rd place in the AHL Pacific Division with 62 points, and were looking to gain ground on Bakersfield and San Jose. After a scoreless first period, the San Diego Gulls and San Antonio Rampage were both looking to get on the scoreboard first as they hit the ice for the second period. Both goaltenders held strong, so the offenses were looking to make a spark! San Antonio opened the game's scoring midway through the second period, the Gulls were able to strike back quickly, tallying back to back goals from Kevin Roy and Simon Benoit within a matter of seconds. With the score locked at 2 heading into the final period, both teams were hungry to cash in on the go-ahead goal.
