That's the highest level of surgery when people look better, but it's actually undetectable." — Dr. Larry Fan"And I call my course my work the world's Cheapest facelift because these women start blossoming and coming back to life and this dark cloud of being single and feeling stigmatized and finally finding their power with men. And they literally look ten to 15 years younger at the end of twelve weeks." — Lisa Shield"I think there's a very big opportunity to not just improve our outer appearance, what I call our outer beauty, but also to improve our inner beauty." — Dr. Larry FanContinue On Your Journey: Lisa Shield | YouTube | Facebook | Instagram | Book a Call With LisaEmail the podcast at: email@example.com
Hair loss is one of those issues men and women experience that can feel like the world is ending. We tend to place value on hair and make it part of our identity. It feels as much a part of you as your eyes, your ears, or your nose. Losing hair as you age is difficult for both men and women. It can lead to depression, social anxiety, and low self-esteem. Thinning hair and hair loss can really have psychological effects on us. Our guest today, Dr. Doris Day, points out the connection we make to feeling attractive and desired is hardwired into our DNA and related to our hair. Dr. Day is a board-certified dermatologist and professor that specializes in laser, cosmetic, surgical and aesthetic dermatology. She's been featured on shows like Dr. Oz, Good Morning America, and Live with Kelly and Ryan, sharing her passion to change the field of aesthetic dermatology. Dr. Day is also the author of 3 books, Beyond Beautiful, Forget the Facelift, and 100 Questions and Answers about Acne. In today's episode we're talking about how to stop hair loss at any age and how to rejuvenate and have radiant skin at any age as well. I really enjoy these opportunities to bring subject matter experts to listeners of the show to get your questions answered. What You Need to Know About Hair Loss Dr. Doris is not only a medical practitioner and educator in the field of dermatology, she has 30+ years of experience to back up her knowledge and expertise when it comes to treating hair loss. As she explains, one of the trickiest things about hair loss is that not all hair loss is genetic or caused by disease. Stress can be a huge contributor to hair loss and hair thinning. As Dr. Day explains, stress can accelerate the aging of your hair and effect your hair growth cycles. “When you see that shedding, chances are your stressor was 3 to 4 months before that.” -Dr. Doris Day She covers three types of shedding you'll want to be aware of: stress shedding, androgenetic shedding, and alopecia areata, which is an autoimmune response. Dr. Day really packs a lot of information into this episode on estrogens role in stopping hair loss, growing hair back and treatment options you may want to consider, along with tips for making your hair stronger. What Women Should Know About Their Skin at Any Age When it comes to aging and skin concerns, Dr. Day is a wealth of information. We're constantly inundated with products making claims of youthful, healthy, glowing, radiating skin that sell dreams of looking forever young like some of your favorite celebrities, and it can be frustrating and confusing. What products should you be using? Which products actually work? What procedures are worth trying for real results? Dr. Day breaks down what the simplest skin care routine should consist of: cleanser, toner, vitamin C serum, and a sunscreen or moisturizer, in that order. Over the age of 50, she's educating us all on the value of retinol, why you would want to use it, and what type of procedures get the results you're looking for and how to get the best results. “You have to treat the source and understand it.” -Dr. Doris Day Dr. Doris Day's 3 Episode Takeaways: Look in mirror for what you love most about yourself For hair, move your part, use volumizers and thickeners For skin, it's never too late for sun protection, and good hydration If you'd like to submit your questions for a future episode, send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org Connect with Dr. Doris Day Website Published Books Connect with Barbara: Website: https://www.barbarahannahgrufferman.com Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/BarbaraHannahGruffermanAuthor Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/barbarahannahgrufferman/ Learn more about your ad choices. This episode of the Carmudgeon show is sponsored by Lucid Motors, who has special lease and finance offers on available 2023 models of the Lucid Air Touring and Grand Touring. Visit lucidmotors.com for offer details. What Carmudgeon episode would complete without a discussion of Bruno Sacco's Mercedes masterpieces, including the W201, W124, W140, and R129? Then, there's the Ferrari lineage: 246 Dino to 308 GTB to 328 GTB to 348 tb to F355. And perhaps the most successful facelift ever, the Bangle-Butt BMW E65/E66 7-series — which was vastly more successful in showrooms after BMW"s "LCI," or "Life Cycle Impulse," BMW-speak for a facelift. There's the Mk1 Volkswagen Golf, with the Clipper Kit Cabriolet and the Citi versions, the BMW E30, the Jaguar Series III to XJ40 to X300 to X308. And what if all the Radwood-era cars only got prettier because of relaxed and harmonized bumper standards, like the W116 Mercedes S-Class did when it was replaced with the W126. Discussed is also the Lamborghini Countach, Renault R5 Turbo, Lancia Integrale and Evo. And of course the Ferrari Testarossa Monospecchio, turned into the Testarossa, the 512TR, and ultimately 512M. How about BMW's prime era of the E38 and E39 and E46? The original Chevrolet Cavalier? The ovoid Taurus? Or just the Miata NC Miata, in NC1, NC2, and NC3 revisions? It's all an interesting discussion and a fun brain-dump from two curmudgeonly car experts, one of whom probably needs a facelift himself soon. === The Carmudgeon Show is part of the Hagerty Podcast Network. In plastic surgery, not all procedures are created equally. Often, surgeons will take shortcuts to simplify a surgical procedure for their benefit rather than the patient's. The reality is that you, as a patient, need to find out where a doctor may take a shortcut that will ultimately get you lesser great results. In this episode, Dr. Rady details the many procedures where doctors take the easy route and explains what questions you should ask to prevent your doctor from doing this to you. Are you getting breast augmentation? Will your doctor be using sizers or the Keller funnel? Are you getting a Tummy Tuck? Have you asked your surgeon if he will be doing the closures? These are just some questions you must ask to avoid being shortchanged on your future plastic surgery. Join Dr. Rady as he gives quick tips that can help you in your dialogue with your doctor's, so you know what to ask to get the results you expect and deserve.Instagram: @drradyrahbanTikTok: @radyrahbanmdYouTube: Rady Rahban MDWebsite: radyrahban.com
You've seen celebrities with facelifts that leave them with an odd, unnatural look–like their face has been pulled too tight. That's because facelifts, which have been around for over 100 years, have traditionally always been the excision (cutting and removal) of tissue. For so long, excision was THE only option. With today's advanced technologies, there is a better solution, and I'm discussing it in this episode. Join me to learn more about the no-cut facelift that has no cuts, no scars, and delivers better results and faster healing! Show Highlights: Three components of facial aging addressed by a facelift: loss of facial bone, loss of fatty volume, and skin laxity How radio frequency devices came on the facelift scene—but didn't solve the problem How we are leveraging no-cut technology called Ellacor to improve jawlines and deliver superior facelift results with minimal post-procedure redness How we use exosomes to enhance wound healing How we are personalizing treatment by using stem cells from the patient's fat (extracted about 8 weeks before the no-cut facelift) How red light therapy, an upright hyperbaric chamber, and IV therapy are used to accelerate healing—all in the office How the no-cut facelift requires only 4-5 days of downtime, with slowly disappearing tiny, pigmented areas able to be covered with makeup after a few days of healing How no-cut technology is also used on breasts arms, abdomen, buttocks, thighs, knees, etc. with similar results *Links: * Follow Dr. Rob on Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/drrobertwhitfield/) Learn more about skin tightening with Dr. Rob (https://www.drrobertwhitfield.com/minimally-invasive-procedures) *About Dr. Rob's Solution Podcast * Austin's natural plastic surgeon Dr. Robert Whitfield brings you the true stories of actual patients, navigates through their surgical and non-surgical treatment options, then reveals their chosen path forward and the results they achieved. To bring us into the future of stem cells in aesthetics, regenerative medicine pioneer Dr. Steve Cohen joins Dr. Bass for a conversation about the future of this innovative area of medicine. Because stem cells are not fully differentiated, they have the ability to turn into a muscle cell, a skin cell, or a blood vessel lining cell. This versatility allows them to be used in plastic surgery, where benefits include improving blood supply, making new blood supply, reducing inflammation, and repairing tissue, to name a few. In the future, stem cells might be used for such applications as rehabilitating the tissue during breast reconstruction before putting a breast implant in, healing or reversing radiated tissue in head and neck cancer patients, or in combination with laser treatments for the best possible skin resurfacing results. Dr. Cohen and Dr. Bass share how stem cells can be incorporated today to get ideal results and how they might help reduce the complexity of procedures and increase longevity of results in the future.
