The Grand Rapids Griffins have clinched the AHL Regular Season Western Conference Championship! Grand Rapids hit the road this past week for dates with the Ice Hogs in Rockford then headed north the Manitoba for back to back afternoon games against the Moose and it appears that the Griffins have found the gas pedal again and mashed it through the floor as they head into the playoffs. The Grand Rapids Griffins ended their tough stretch of 6 games in 9 days this past week with a game at home against Milwaukee, one on the road in Cleveland, and one more at home against Chicago. During that stint the clinched the regular season Central Division title with their win over Cleveland for the first time since the 14-15 season. The Grand Rapids Griffins faced a tough 3 games in 3 days with travel for all three games against two teams fighting for their playoff lives as we hit the final stretch of the AHL regular season. Detroit Red Wings 2025 second round pick Eddie Genborg is coming to play with the Grand Rapids Griffins and the timing could not have been more perfect as the Griffins roster has been decimated with injuries and call ups to the Red Wings.
