Then, what's the dumbest thing we do when the snow hits? 4pm Hour: Chris Shaffer joins the show to talk about when the snow is coming, and how much will we get? Then on DeRusha Eats - what Thanksgiving food would you kick to the curb? 5pm Hour: On the DeRush-Hour, it's not just the Somalis that are having their temporary protected status ended. Jason talks to Alice Buckner, Executive Director of the Karen Association of Minnesota about TPS ending for refugees from Myanmar as well. Then Greg Swan joins the show to "Explain the Internet" - why he's an advocate for Waymo, and why he was right about being careful with AI teddy bears.
-Apparently misleading protest videos are welcome to stay on Facebook now. Meta's Oversight Board has ruled that the company was right to leave up a manipulated video that made footage of a Serbian protest look like it took place in Holland and was in support of Rodrigo Duterte, former president of the Philippines. -Qualcomm just revealed the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, the appropriately-named second member of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 line. This follows the Gen 5 Elite, which was first revealed back in September. The standard Gen 5 is still a powerful mobile system-on-a-chip with a top clock speed of 3.8GHz. -The infamous "Kumma" children's AI teddy bear, once an expert in BDSM and knife-fetching, is back on sale. The company claims the toy now has stronger child safety protections in place. The Singapore-based FoloToy suspended sales of Kumma last week after a research group published an eyebrow-raising report. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

Steve Gruber sits down with Ivey Gruber, President of the Michigan Talk Network, to break down a disturbing AI story making headlines. A children's teddy bear equipped with ChatGPT was found giving kids highly inappropriate content, prompting OpenAI to pull it from the market for violating safety guidelines. Steve and Ivey discuss how this incident highlights the real dangers of AI in consumer products, especially when marketed to children. From oversight failures to the future risks of AI-driven toys, they explore what this means for parents, tech companies, and society as AI becomes more deeply integrated into everyday life.

-At some point in the last couple days, Grok began to offer extremely over the top opinions about Musk. The bot claimed that Musk is the "undisputed pinnacle of holistic fitness" and that he is more fitter than LeBron James, smarter than Albert Einstein, better fighter than Mike Tyson, morally superior to Jesus, and a better communist than Joseph Stalin. -FoloToy, a company selling AI-enabled toys, suspended sales of its products after a consumer safety report showed there were few restrictions around what its toys would talk about. -After what was apparently a successful testing period, OpenAI has announced that it is rolling out group chats in ChatGPT to "all logged-in users on ChatGPT Free, Go, Plus and Pro plans globally over the coming days." Look up in the sky! It's a bird! It's a plane! It's James Gunn's Superman, here to launch the writer-director-studio-head's brand new (?) DC Universe. It moves faster than a speeding bullet despite having more plot than the last five Marvel movies put together–and some of those plot points hold up better to the green-K gaze of our hosts than others. Paul, Arlo, and Eric break down everything about this new big screen Man of Steel, including a perfect cast, major deviations from Superman's origin, Gunn's unabashedly political script, fuckboi Jimmy Olsen, and so much more. Maybe the film doesn't leap tall expectations in a single bound, but a movie like this has much more up (up and away) its Super-sleeve than any billionaire skinhead would expect. Plus, the gang dives deep into the sewers for a read-through of IDW's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles saga. NEXT: it's time once again to enter the gates of VAL-halla, as the gang discusses two of Val Kilmer's most iconic performances, namely as Jim Morrison in Oliver Stone's 1991 psych-biopic The Doors and Doc Holliday in 1994's neo-Western Tombstone. Let's talk about the elephant in the room, and the 5 questions you MUST ask your next lover. Leonarda Minutillo is a poet, writer, teacher, mom, and speaker (even in ASL). She studied at York University in Toronto with an Honours BA with Physical Education /Psychology; B.Ed at University of Toronto; Deaf Ed at York University; and then, with an International Rotary Scholarship attended Gallaudet University in WDC, the only university in the world tailored to Deaf students. It was a dream come true. Leonarda is now making a big career shift slowly leaving the classroom and stepping into the role of writer and poet where she has not only found great healing but also a long-awaited connection to her intuition. After publishing her first poetry book, "The Day I Bought a Teddy Bear and a Vibrator", Leonarda says the whole process has been incredibly transformational. In episode 608 of the Fraternity Foodie Podcast, we find out what inspired Leonarda to start writing poetry and how that helped to reclaim her voice, how learning to listen to her intuition changed the trajectory of her life, how college students can channel creativity to heal from heartbreak or self-doubt, how she defines self-love in a world where people often seek validation from others, what are the 5 conscious questions to ask a potential lover so you can take care of yourself, what is the P.I.E. Principle, how studying at Gallaudet University shaped her perspective on communication and connection, how young people learn to see endings as beginnings, what role does community play in healing and self-discovery, how transitioning from teaching to writing and speaking full time taught her courage, and what advice she would give her younger self. Enjoy!
