BROWNSVILLE, Texas - Texas Southmost College and Texas A&M University Kingsville have signed a memorandum of understanding to solidify their collaboration and enhance educational opportunities for students. The MOU was signed by TAMUK president Dr. Robert H. Vela Jr. and TSC president Jesus Rodriguez at the TSC Performing Arts Center in Brownsville on Monday, February 12.The two presidents said the signing expands the partnership already established between the two organizations. That expansion includes the addition of more articulation agreements, allowing for even more 2+2 academic programs between the institutions to be built. Rodríguez said these programs will provide students with a more seamless avenue through which they can transfer to Texas A&M Kingsville once they have completed their first two years at TSC. “Our students believe in themselves as much as we believe in them, and that belief is a shared value between TSC and Texas A&M Kingsville,” Rodriguez said. “Together, we have forged a new pathway for economic mobility to move our communities forward.”Rodriguez said signing the MOU is a win-win for both institutions. “Providing high quality affordable education remains a focus for both institutions. TSC is the most affordable institution of higher education in the entire Rio Grande Valley. A student can complete their (general education) or associates degree at one third the cost of a local university and then transfer to Kingsville and be confident that their credits have maximum transferability. They are earning time and money,” Rodriguez said.TAMUK's Vela said TSC students will be eligible for his university's Javelina Promise Program, which covers tuition gaps remaining after Texas grants and scholarships have been applied. “Students need choices. Wherever they feel comfortable and feel like they can thrive, that's the institution for them. We just want to be a part of that because we know the tradition that we have in this community is powerful,” Vela said.“Texas Southmost College and Texas A&I University were the [originals] of South Texas. We were here for these communities when no one else believed in South Texas. There is an array of excellence that has come from (both institutions). When you can marry those values and you can bring what we do day in and day out and the commitment to strategize and figure out ways to make things easier for our students, there's something special in the air with this partnership,” Vela continued.Editor's Note: Click here to read the full story on the Rio Grande Guardian International News Service website.Editor's Note: Here are the remarks President Rodriguez made at the MOU signing ceremony. To read the new stories and watch the news videos of the Rio Grande Guardian International News Service go to www.riograndeguardian.com.

The Biden administration invited a non-binary drag queen to the White House to attend the Respect for Marriage Act signing ceremony on Tuesday. Marti G. Cummings, an anti-police activist and self-described “drag artist,” thanked Biden for inviting him to the White House event. “To be a non-binary drag artist invited to the White House is something I never imagined would happen,” the drag queen said. “Grateful doesn't begin to express the emotions I feel.” Cummings has made several eyebrow-raising remarks about children regarding the LGBTQ movement on social media. “The kids are out to sing and suck d!” Cummings tweeted in March. Graphic photos on social media show Cummings posing in drag with half naked men, while others show him in drag posing with young children. A separate Instagram post by Cummings shows him and other drag queens surrounding a child wearing a rainbow flag shirt, bragging that the child “wants to perform with us next year!” Biden has a history of hobnobbing with drag queens and “transgenders” at the White House  http://freedomreportage.com/2022/12/14/biden-invites-drag-queen-who-said-the-kids-are-out-to-suck-dick-to-white-house-bill-signing-ceremony/ --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/world-voices/support

If you'd like to learn more about Elder Law, Medicaid planning, Guardianship, Special Needs Trusts, or Probate law contact the Law Office of Frank Bruno, Jr. today at 718-418-5000. Thank you for listening! Eldercare law is really an umbrella term encompassing multiple areas of law. Some elder care attorneys handle subjects that most people know something about, such as probate, guardianship, estate planning. Other eldercare lawyers focus their practice on other areas of law such as special needs planning, VA benefits planning, and Medicaid planning. So, what is Medicaid planning? Medicaid planning is a way to protect people's assets from the threat of long-term care expenses. Many clients are between 65 and 95, own their own homes, and have between $25,000 and $750,000 worth of assets in addition to the house. What many people don't realize is exactly how expensive long term care expenses can be – In 2020 the average costs of a skilled nursing facility, in New York is $14,250.00 per month. Someone can be solidly middle class or upper-middle class, have saved their whole life, and think that they'll have plenty of money for whatever happens only to suffer a stroke, major heart attack or get an Alzheimer's or Parkinson's diagnosis and need help with their activities of daily living. If they have this six-figure per year care expense, many people spend everything. Medicare does not pay skilled nursing home expenses after 100 days. An elder care attorney, who handles Medicaid planning, is able to legally and ethically protect people's assets to get them qualified for Medicaid. Medicaid, unlike Medicare, has excellent long-term care benefits. This helps them supplement their lifestyle with their own assets (to improve the quality of their life while alive) and make it more likely that they will have something to pass onto their heirs after they pass away. There are many myths and much misinformation surrounding long-term care Medicaid in New York. To learn more please visit... https://www.frankbrunolaw.com

Four versions of the Trafficking Victims Protection Act (TVPA) were recently passed into law which reauthorize the original law from 2000. The last version had passed in 2013, and expired in 2017 along with funding allocations to anti-trafficking efforts. The new versions include additional funding, more protections for victims, better data collection, and improved criteria for tier rankings, though the Trump administration has opted out of some of the requirements.
