In Folge 45 kehren wir final zurück in die Welt der Streaming-Dienste und haben die dunkle Vermutung, dass es bis Februar oder sogar März keine Sneak für uns geben wird. Also überraschen wir uns etwas selber und gucken Filme, die wir vielleicht sonst nicht gesehen hätten... oder gerade ganz besonders dringend sehen wollten. In dieser Folge haben wir zwei Filme von unterschiedlichen Plattformen mitgebracht: Da 5 Bloods ist seit ein paar Monaten auf Netflix verfügbar und ist die neuste Produktion von Spike Lee (Blackkklansman). 5 afroamerikanische Veteranen, allesamt ergraut, machen sich nach vielen Jahrzehnten auf den Weg zurück in den Vietnam, um dort die Gebeine ihres gefallenen Kameraden zu bergen und nach Hause zu bringen. Doch nicht nur der Verlust eines Freundes treibt die Gruppe zurück, sondern auch eine nicht unerhebliche Menge gold, die damals mit ihnen zusammen im Helikopter mitten im Dschungel abgestürzt ist. Ein Millionenschatz hat man bekannterweise nie einfach nur für sich alleine und deshalb warten nicht nur die große Waldflächen und viel Grün in den Tiefen des Vietnams auf die kleine Gruppe. Ob er uns gefallen hat, verraten wir euch natürlich am Ende der Vorstellung:) Ganz anders funktioniert Onward, ein Pixar Film, der es zu Beginn der Corona-Pandemie noch kurz im Kino versucht hat, bis diese dicht machen mussten. Daraufhin wanderte er direkt zu den Streaming-Kanälen zum Kauf und ist jetzt bei Disney Plus eingetrudelt. Zwei Brüder, gesprochen von Tom Holland und Chris Pratt, leben in einer magischen Welt, die dank Digitalisierung ihre Magie vergessen hat. Am 16. Geburtstag des jüngeren jedoch erhalten sie von ihre verstorbenem Vater einen Zauberstab inklusive -spruch, der ihn für einen ganzen Tag zurückbringen soll. Nun klappt das leider im ersten Versuch nicht ganz so wie erhofft und ausschließlich seine Beine schaffen den Schritt zurück in das Hier und Jetzt. Also tun die beiden Brüder, was ihre Generation schon fast verlernt hat: auf Abenteuerreise gehen. Ob sie es schaffen, ihren Vater und die Magie zurück in ihr Leben zu holen?

Was gibt es neues? Endlich wurde das Design der PlayStation 5 vorgestellt, und gleich einige PS5 Exklusiv-Titel gab es dazu. Das ist natürlich auch bei uns Thema. Zudem steigt die Vorfreude auf The Last of Us Part II und es gibt einige Neuigkeiten zu den kommenden Kino Releases wie Tenet, Matrix 4 oder Wonder Woman 1984. Was haben wir gesehen? Natürlich sind die aktuellen Netflix Neuerscheinungen wie die vierte Staffel von 13 Reasons Why und der Spike Lee Film Da 5 Bloods Thema bei uns. Bei der Gelegenheit haben wir uns auch den vorherigen Film von Spike Lee BlacKkKlansman nochmal angeschaut. Den größten Teil des Podcasts nimmt allerdings Star Wars ein. Jetzt, mit ein bisschen Abstand, haben wir uns die gesamte Skywalker Saga nochmal am Stück angesehen und müssen zugeben, dass sich unsere Meinung auf die neue Trilogie dadurch deutlich verändert hat. A winter of discontent for the Academy Awards will culminate Sunday in an Oscar ceremony that may lack a host but isn't missing intrigue.The run-up to the 91st Academy Awards has been a series of missteps and backtracks by the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences. A new best "popular film" category was in, and then it was out. Kevin Hart was host and then he wasn't. Some categories were removed from the live broadcast, and then they were back.But if the script this Oscar season has been constantly rewritten, the film academy is hoping for a Hollywood ending (and much better ratings than the all-time low viewership last year.) ABC's telecast will begin at 8 p.m. EST following the usual red carpet festivities. The show is available for livestream via ABC in some cities to users with a participating TV provider.After some unlikely Los Angeles weather — to much local fanfare, it snowed in parts of the city on Thursday — sunny skies are expected for red carpet arrivals.Producers Donna Gigliotti and Glenn Weiss have pledged that the show will be speedier this year, even though its initial goal of a three-hour broadcast has faded. Kicking things off will be a performance by Queen, featuring Adam Lambert, to celebrate the best picture-nominee "Bohemian Rhapsody."In the academy's favor is a popular crop of nominees: "Bohemian Rhapsody," ''A Star Is Born" and, most of all, "Black Panther" have all amassed huge sums in ticket sales. Typically, when there are box-office hits (like "Titanic"), more people watch the Oscars.But just how many people have seen one of the top nominees and the film favored to win best picture — Alfonso Cuaron's "Roma" — remains unknown. Netflix has declined to give box-office results or steaming viewership. It remains a nominee unlike any other. Should "Roma" — a black-and-white, Spanish and Mixtec language film about a domestic worker in a Mexican family — win, it will be both the first Netflix movie to win best picture and the first foreign language film to do so.Yet this year's race has been maddeningly unpredictable, with the usual predictive awards being spread across contenders such as Peter Farrelly's "Green Book," a divisive period dramedy about a black pianist (Mahershala Ali) and his white chauffer (Viggo Mortensen); the royal romp "The Favourite; and Ryan Coogler's Marvel sensation "Black Panther," which could become the first superhero film ever to win Hollywood's top award.Other milestones are possible, too.
