After reading all the nasty reviews, and seeing Marlon Wayans make a plea on social media to see “Him” despite the negativity, Amy and T.J. did just that… and absolutely loved it. While many reviewers claim the film fumbled, these two horror movie lovers say it scored a touchdown. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

There are reports that within two weeks from now a "mystery" billionaire will be taking a sub down to the see the Titanic. There is a new diet fad sweeping the nation, but this time for babies. Some parents are putting their kids on the carnivore baby diet and only feeding them meat once they come off breastfeeding. Pediatricians are warning against the fad.

We've reached the end of S.2 of "Discovery" and...it's a LOT, guys. "Such Sweet Sorrow, Part II" is mostly action sequences all just strung together rapid-fire with only a few, regrettably-brief pauses for character work. Also one of the worst lines in the history of "Star Trek" is here. All we need is some Beastie Boys and we're at the crossroads of all off JJ Abrams' worst impulses. Also this week: Bill & Ted, rocky ships, and wrapping season 2! [Sorrow2: 01:13; momentary rankings: 1:02:45] [In summation: https://sshbpodcast.tumblr.com/post/786712440848220160/discovery-season-2-mystery-boxes-all-the-way-down]

It's not every day that you get a brand new attraction in the Columbia River Gorge. On this week's episode of Peak Northwest, we head out to the new Mitchell Point Tunnel, open to pedestrians and cyclists only, found on the Historic Columbia River Highway State Trail west of Hood River. The 665-foot tunnel, which features rock windows that open to spectacular views of the Columbia Gorge, is one of the most impressive human-made attractions in the Columbia Gorge. It will be a major part of the 73-mile bike trail when that project is finally completed. Here are some highlights from this week's show: What is the Mitchell Point tunnel? The tunnel is a recreation of a historic tunnel by the same name. How does this fit in to the larger Historic Columbia River Highway State Trail? How to get to the tunnel, and what else to do while you're there. Subscribe to Peak Northwest on Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, Spotify or anywhere you listen to podcasts. Send us a textOn the podcast this time, Steven and Sean are going on an adventure… and opening up our hearts. We watched the 1986 film by Rob Reiner, Stand by Me.Is there a better way to kick off this entire month of celebrating the birth of me, Sean, than by doing a whole load of movies from the year of my birth? Since I'm the one writing these things, I'm gonna go with heck no!I wanted to see a bunch of movies that have somehow passed me by, or are otherwise interesting looking. To that end, this one is a tale of friendly, brotherly love. You might think it's just about the body (like I did), but you'd be wrong! So join us in celebrating a wonderful film by a wonderful director chosen by a wonderful podcast co-host. Eli Craig smashed onto the slasher scene with his genre-defying comedy event Tucker & Dale VS Evil, and he's back with another slasher that upends expectations: Clown in a Cornfield.Clown in a Cornfield is based on the first entry in Adam Cesare's Frendo series which chucks a group of teens into the mayhem of a Midwestern American town where they find themselves picked off by a growing group of killer clowns. Eli Craig then takes that terror from the page and supplants it brilliantly with a satirical and savvy stance, making one of the most enjoyably subversive horror flicks of the year so far. It's also one of the most timely too, as it's a horror film about the flyover states of America, yet it's shot in Canada. That added layer of political devilishness is one of the things that I ask Eli about in the following interview. This chat is an open one from Eli, with the horror director talking about the journey of Tucker & Dale VS Evil from being an unseen flick to a cult classic which has fans demanding a sequel. Eli also talks about the journey of adapting Adam's books for the screen, before making a statement for horror film fans around the world, myself included: If you want more Clown in the Cornfield films, then go and see the first one in cinemas. And for Aussie audiences, you'll be able to do that very soon.Clown in a Cornfield makes its Australian premiere at Fantastic Film Festival Australia on 26 April at the Lido in Hawthorn and the Ritz Randwick. It then is unleashed nation wide on 8 May. This is a film you'll want to see with a screaming audience. We are a completely independent and ad free website that lives on the support of listeners and readers just like you. Trey reviews Ryan Coogler's Sinners: a $100-million genre-bending vampire western horror musical set in 1930s Mississippi. It's Coogler's boldest, weirdest, and most ambitious film to date, blending myth, legacy, identity, and the cost of assimilation into a chaotic cinematic experiment. Trey unpacks the film's anti-genre intentions, its Faustian themes, its wild tonal swings, and the standout performances from Michael B. Jordan and breakout star Miles Caton. Is it a masterpiece? A mess? Both? This is a conflicted breakdown of a movie that might not work...but absolutely demands to be seen.(00:00) Ryan Coogler(01:26) Non-Major Spoiler Review(02:03) What Works(08:24) What Struggles(12:49) The Extra Credits of Sinners(14:56) Final ThoughtsThe Extra Credits YouTube ChannelBecome a member of The Extra Credits+ on Patreon hereHow to link Patreon to Spotify and AppleLetterboxd: The Extra CreditsTikTok: The Extra CreditsReddit: r/TheExtraCreditsInstagram: @theextracreditsTwitter: @theextracreditsSend requests, questions, and thoughts to our email: extracreditspod@gmail.com
