Six years after the release of the divisive "Stella Polaris," Goatmoon has returned with "What Once Was... Shall Be Again," a release that suggests a return to Goatmoon's core sound of stomping, punk- and folk-infused Finnblack. The band doesn't disappoint in its return to the traditional Goatmoon form, but how does this shake out after such a long departure from the style? TBMG and TDMG tease out the subtle structural differences between this and Goatmoon's classic works, attempting to answer a crucial question: what, exactly, will be Goatmoon's legacy? Should the jangly stomp of Goatmoon raise your spirits too much, The Howling Void is here to crush them once again. The funeral doom project of Ryan from Pneuma Hagion, Intestinal Disgorge, and many others, THV's newest record points to a minimal yet multifaceted take on the traditional style. Det danske rockband Go Go Berlin trak i 2016 stikket fra turnélivet for at fokusere på at skrive nye sange og fordybe sig i musikken i højere grad end før. Det har resulteret i et tredje album, der er på trapperne, og som kvartetten turnerer flittigt for at promovere. Med den nye musik har Go Go Berlin bevæget sig lidt væk fra den fortidshyldende garage-rock, de debuterede med og har bevæget sig mere ind på et klubbet udtryk. The Real of Reality | International Conference on Philosophy and Film Wed, 02.11.2016 – Sun, 06.11.2016 ZKM_Media Theater, ZKM_Lecture Hall, ZKM_Media Lounge, ZKM_Cube Following a long series of documentary movies, “Stella Polaris” was Knut Erik Jensen’s first feature film, yet it transcends pre-existing genres. It can probably be best described as a poetic constellation of memory fragments pertaining to life in a northern Norwegian fishing village over a period of 50 years. It provides a new perspective on Norway’s northernmost county, Finnmark, its inhabitants, and recent history, setting it as a liminal location, referring to Homi Bhabha’s notion of third space. Such a concept of liminality includes a focus on the “other” and thereby allows us to catch sight of various forms of “othering” that prove constitutive of not only official Norwegian cold war discourse and identities, but indeed of any war discourse. The camera follows a young woman, the narrative’s main protagonist, who walks barefoot through the relicts of a northern Norwegian coastal fishing village. She appears like a ghostly apparition, rather than a realistic character in a historical reenactment. This way, “Stella Polaris” questions, challenges, and potentially subverts borders and barriers in political, historical, and aesthetic registers. Jensen develops a peculiar aesthetic that puts high value on transi­tions between shots and that actively juxtaposes the visual with the audible. His spectator does not enter the cinema to relax or forget, but to engage what he refers to as “audio-visual riddles.” This peculiar aesthetic values an in-between and can therefore be termed as a “liminal aesthetic.” (This text is based on Holger Plötzsch’s review of the film entitled “Aspects of Liminality in Knut Erik Jensen’s ‘Stella Polaris’”, 2012) International Conference on Philosophy and Film Photography and film in particular paved the way for complex philosophical questions regarding the nature of reality and its mechanical reproduction. What does film reproduce and how can we grasp this element, which has the transactive ability to form reality although originating in reality? This shaping takes palce through a complex interaction of image, action and narration and tends to permeate reality completely. It is an inconspicuous process that already affects our everyday life profoundly and is based on a revolution of the real. What does film show? Do we have access to reality that is not based on images or narrations? And what can film and its analysis contribute to philosophical debates on the real? These are questions we are asking to engage in a dialogue between philosophy and film. For five days, one hundred and fifty philosophers, media scholars and filmmakers will connect philosophical theory with cinematic practice and open up new ideas and concepts. To accompany the program, there will be film screenings of documentaries of the invited filmmakers. The participation at the conference is also possible without the presentation of a paper. The conference will be held in English.

Heidi Renvall, Tukholma Syntynyt 14.8.1939 Helsingissä Stella Polaris -operaation silminnäkijä Närpiön Nämpnäsissä loppukesällä 1944 Avioitui Stig Wickbergin (ent. Törnroos) kanssa 1964, ja pariskunta muutti samana vuonna Ruotsiin Ammattiura sairaanhoidon alalla Nykyinen asuinpaikka Tukholma Stella Polaris oli vuonna 1944 toteutettu operaatio, jossa siirrettiin Suomen puolustusvoimien tiedustelutoiminta Ruotsiin siltä varalta, että Neuvostoliitto miehittäisi Suomen. Suomen sodat Talvisota syttyi 30.11.1939 ja päättyi 13.3.1940. Talvisodan syttyessä syntyi talvisodan henki, suomalaisten horjumaton puolustustahto ja yksimielisyys. Välirauhan jälkeen alkanut jatkosota käytiin 25.6.1941-4.9.1944. Sodan viimeinen vaihe oli Lapin sota 15.9.1944-27.4.1945. Sotiin osallistui yhteensä noin 600 000 miestä ja 100 000 naista • Nuorimmat rintamalle joutuneista olivat vasta 17-vuotiaita.  • Joka kahdeksas sotiin osallistuneista menehtyi.  • Heistä, jotka palasivat, pysyvän sotavamman oli saanut joka neljäs.  • Sodat jättivät jälkeensä 30 000 leskeä ja yli 50 000 sotaorpoa.  • Yli puoli miljoonaa ihmistä menetti kotinsa. • Suomessa sotien veteraaneja oli vuoden 2014 alkaessa elossa 32 000, heistä sotainvalideja on 4 800. • Veteraanien keski-ikä on jo yli 90 vuotta. Nätterna kring den 23-24 september 1944 avgår fyra fartyg från Finland. Destinationen är Härnösand och Gävle. Ombord finns ca 750 finska signalspanare med familjer och minst 500 lådor innehållande avancerad radiospaningsutrustning och enorma mängder topphemliga underrättelsedokument, främst om Sovjet. I Operation Stella Polaris samarbetade svenska och finska underrättelseenheter för att skapa förutsättningar för en finsk exilregering i Stockholm. I Sverige oroade man sig för att få Sovjet som närmsta granne i öster. Tillsammans med andra finska operationer som upprättande av vapengömmor runt om i Finland var planen att Stella Polaris skulle utgöra underrättelsenavet i ett gerillakrig mot Sovjet, i händelse av att Finland skulle bli helt invaderat. I dokumentären möter du bland annat Paavo Pusa som flydde undan sovjetiska trupper när Finlands näst största stad Viborg invaderades av Sovjet. Du hör även 94-årige Risto Heino om flykten till Sverige och hur han och ett femtontal finska signalspanare på stående fot anställdes av svenska FRA och blev svenska medborgare över en natt.  Leevi Babarin berättar om sin far Leo Vasiljev, sovjetisk signalist som värvades till finska armén och sedan blev lärare i underrättelseverksamhet och signalspaning på ett hemligt finländskt utbildningscentrum i Karelen. Även han flydde till Sverige i samband med Operation Stella Polaris.  Dessutom reder vi ut varför Sverige och Finland var så extremt framgångsrika i sin signalspaning. Producent: Carl-Magnus Helgegren
