Communicating with confidence is not only for stages and networking events. Speaking skills to communicate your thoughts, ideas and to inspire others are being used not only by speakers and online coaches. More than ever, great communication skills are needed for your personal and professional brand, whether you're in a leadership position, working with a customer or interviewing for your next position. Today, I brought on one of my clients to discuss not only the work we did together but the many different places she's using her speaking skills. We also discuss the confidence she feels today when communicating with one or a crowd of people. Listen to Talyne's story, as she shares how she went from the quiet, shy struggling network marketer to the confident blogger using her voice to change the lives of other women. The second episode offers up two more weddings and we still have two more weddings to go. In this episode, we discuss how unnecessary the dress/tux shopping scenes are and how it made for a dull episode that felt like filler.Tayne continues to hate on Michael. We wonder if it was really champagne in their glasses and discuss which groom we find the hottest.Don't forget on Monday, you can find a MAFS Afterparty recap episode on our Patreon at www.patreon.com/altarcallmafs. We recorded this fun episode sometime in April and it was so fun!In this bonus episode, we rank all the seasons of MAFS that we have watched (excluding seasons 12 and 13). Tayne has watched all the seasons and Ade had watched 7 of them. We explain how we came about our rankings and what criteria we used. We also go down memory lane in each season and reminisce over stand out moments that were funny, aggravating and down right ridiculous. We hope you like this one and feel free to share your best and worst seasons with us!
We talked a little bit about Nigerian weddings in one of our episodes and we had a listener ask us to talk more about it and we did.In this bonus episode, which we did earlier in the year, Tayne and Ade speak about their culture as Nigerians, specifically about Nigerian weddings. We walk you through the many and various steps required, before getting to the actual wedding(s).We talk about the size and how we had both been at two Nigerian weddings but never actually met each other until years after. We also touch on the expectations of being a bridesmaid in a Nigerian wedding and how much work is involved. After all said and done, we let you know how Nigerian weddings are the fun-nest weddings (no bias, of course!) and everyone should attend one in their lifetime.Don't forget, you can listen to our show without ads and also support the show by joining our Patreon at https://www.patreon.com/AltarCallMAFS.

We have received many questions about Love Is Blind and Netflix finally gave us a reason to talk about it! This 3 episode special follows the lives of the "PodSquad" two years after their groundbreaking show.We revel in the cuteness of Lauren and Cameron and the Barnett's struggles and we express our frustration at Damien and G's sham of a relationship and why everything about them is a no - and this is before you even include Francesca. We don't remember LC but we talk about how she definitely kept Mark alive during this special. We tell you why Diamond was well utilized even as we wonder how these people are still hung up on events that happened over two years ago. Ade didn't think it needed three episodes while Tayne thought it was just fine and a breeze to watch. As always we also talk about everything in between like washing your chicken, Lauren's anniversary dress and have you ever heard about a dine-in car wash with a bar? This was a bonus episode we had on our Patreon over the summer. You can find other bonus episodes there at www.patreon.com/altarcallmafs. Find us on Instagram and Twitter - @altarcallmafs. Hope you enjoy the episode!
On this episode, the couples get with their family and friends by welcoming them to their home with a themed housewarming (well, for some). This was not a good week for most of the couples as things were not looking good but it meant we had plenty to talk about. We're sick and tired of Gil taking jabs at Myrla and making an issue of her spending but we admit that it was a sweet moment when they meet Gil's mom. Ade thinks the kids are going to be alright. We get more of Jose's step-mom and talk about whether we think he is controlling or not.Johnny continues to take us on a tour of his mental warfare but neither of us feel sorry for him. We continue to be in awe of Bao's grace. Ade shares her connection to Ryan's gym and Hurricane K makes a touchdown in Zackland and everything is a mess. Tayne thinks Zack is like a dog on a bone while Ade thinks he should be allowed to move on when he feels like. There's a social media recap on the episode and you can find an Unfiltered + Couples Cam recap episode on our Patreon at www.patreon.com/altarcallmafs. The couples visit each other's homes and move into their lovely apartment on this week's episode. We join the couples in appreciating what we dubbed the nicest apartment MAFS has ever had. It doesn't take long for habits and differences to show up and we were here for it all.We think Rachel and Jose are going to be okay, everyone should aspire to the self assurance of Myrla and Gil really needs to stop being rude and get off of Myrla's finances. The road is really rocky for Johnny and Bao, why are Ryan and Brett sooo boringgg? and Tayne doesn't think there is hope for Michaela and Zack. We also welcomed Pastor Cal's house call even if we raised eyebrows at his advice to Myrla. There's a social media recap on the episode and you can find an Unfiltered + Couples Cam recap episode on our Patreon at www.patreon.com/altarcallmafs. We are still in the Florida Keys with the couples. Zack is still quarantining in his hotel room and we discuss the beautiful drone shot that we are given since no crew can get close to him. This week, the couples have uncomfortable conversations. We are not sure why showering after a workout requires a conversation but Bao gives us something to talk about on this topic. Gil and Myrla talk about last names, financial backgrounds and Gil's dog. We disagree on this as Ade thinks she could just walk the dog while Tayne thinks otherwise. Brett and Ryan continue to flatline and Rachel and Jose continue to find balance as they discover some differences. The group meet up and we are shocked that Lifetime aired an open discussion about politics. By the end of the episode, Ade isn't feeling Johnny and Tayne isn't feeling Gil. We appreciated Myrla being true to herself. We discuss Napoleon Syndrome, the chemistry between the cast and the disconnect in some conversations and so much more! There's a social media recap on the episode and you can find an Unfiltered + Couples Cam recap episode on our Patreon at www.patreon.com/altarcallmafs. The couples spend their first night together and get to learn more about each other. 3 and half of the couples are still enjoying each other and we break down each of the couple's first night and next morning recap with each other. We notice how there were no incessant questions about if they consummated their marriage. We cheer on the first couple to do so and appreciate the organic way we were told. We give up on trying to defend Myrla but felt for her and Gil's tragic stories. We also express our annoyance at the producers for having the MC call Michaela down for a dance with her dad.We are still enjoying the pleasant surprise that is Rachel and Jose and Tayne is pleased with how affectionate they are. We are bored with Brett and Ryan and don't think its too soon to say that it's not looking good. We are still on the Johnny and Bao train. As always, there's many more in between like how messy is too messy a la Rachel, is Gil not motivated by money because he doesn't have money? and did Jose really offer to brush Rachel's teeth??? They're all married now! On this episode, we discuss the remaining weddings and the couples' first night together. We discuss how all the couples give us the feels - well except Brett and Ryan, who seem to just go through the motions. We also notice how she was the only one not carried over the threshold. We discuss how pleasantly surprised we were at Rachel and Jose after our not so great first impression on Jose. Ade enjoyed Rachel's game idea at what we now call the "Champagne Chat" and we both cringe at Rachel saying she asked the experts to match her based on personality not looks. We talk about how this season is 3 for 3, so far, the benefits of diversity as we get to see different cultures and rituals in this season's weddings and Tayne maintains her stance on how people from recent breakups shouldn't risk being cast on the show. We make our predictions on the couples and also talk about that explosive preview. There's a social media recap on the episode and you can find an Unfiltered recap episode on our Patreon at www.patreon.com/altarcallmafs. The weddings keep going and this week we see two more of the couples get married. The show continues the good feels with Michaela and Zack's wedding. We can't tell what to expect from these two but we are hoping for success for them. We worry a bit about Hurricane K but Ade can't wait to meet her. We talk about how we thought Zack was about to bow out and how nervous he was that he botched his explanation of what a renaissance man is.We also talk about how the experts will always expert, when they match Myrla with someone who is bald and has a dog - two things she is not particularly fond of. We again worry about Myrla and Tayne can't decide if it's just editing. Gil isn't particularly off the hook as he seems fixated on finances. So far, so good on the season and no audio issues this week! We're baaaaaaack! It's a new season and a new set of couples and we were so ready to wipe season 12 out of our memories but we just had to recap all the recent breakups but we promise we're done! We talk about the 3 (yes,3!) hour premiere and how we thought it was worth it because we enjoyed every moment of it even if it only yielded one wedding. We share our thoughts on the couples and Ade thinks that this is one of the most attractive cast we've had. We also notice the subtle changes here and there and Tayne shares how this premiere episode reminds her of one of the best parts of this show - the hope and optimism at the beginning. As always, we give our first bouquet and burnt ashes of the season.Let us know how you felt about the episode and if you have faves already. There was so much to talk about that we have the Unfiltered recap as a bonus episode over on our Patreon. We unfortunately had audio issues this episode, we promise it will be fixed by the next episode!Instagram & Twitter - @altarcallmafs

Tayne is a brand manager in product marketing. Ade works in communications for the government. Born to Nigerian parents who were supportive (but not psycho) about their educations; they each earned master's degrees. These very accomplished women also happen to love reality TV shows and created "Altar Call: A Married at First Sight Podcast". At its core, their podcast is two friends who are rooting for love, but side-eyeing the foolishness along the way. They deep dive into the psychology of the contestants, the impact of the "experts" on these legally binding marriages, show ratings, and a "Where Are They Now" of past participants. They join me to talk about the real work that goes into putting out a just-for-fun podcast when one of you is Type A and has a hard and fast rule about podcasts that open with idle host banter, and other is super organized but would still like to outsource some aspects of the job. The three of us meander from Married at First Sight (MAFS) to the challenges Bravo is currently facing with race, why "Love is Blind" had an impeccable first season, and a tiny teaser about the upcoming season of MAFS in their hometown of Houston, TX. Oh, and I learn why Yvonne Orji's impersonation of her parents' Nigerian accent is a little annoying. Brand new Episode out now Eyes Wide Open Burn Em Watch the video to 'Burn 'Em' here: https://youtu.be/RGFnRgrfaTQ Stream here: https://EyesWideOpen.lnk.to/burnem Eyes Wide Open online: https://www.instagram.com/ewo_swe https://www.facebook.com/Eyes.Wide.Open.Swe https://www.e-w-o.net Eyes Wide Open are from Sweden and honestly some of the best music ive heard has come from Scandinavia in recent years, Burn Em here straight away offers melody and hooks from the great vocals from frontman Erik Engstrand A lot of energy in this track and plenty of trades between clean vocals and screams offers the powerful blend on especially in the chorus where the hooks really kick in, the production on this out awesome as well, overall a great track to kick off the show with. Tayne are up next this week with their track Corrupt Corrupt is a electronic track and really captivated me as there are lot of influences Tayne draw upon such as Nine inch nails to Gary numan, Corrupt as a track is really cool and offer something completely different to what ive currently been listening too, this track twist and turns in different directions, so many different sounds are on display, its really engaging Tayne online https://www.facebook.com/tayneband/ https://twitter.com/tayneband/ https://www.instagram.com/tayneband/ Glassbone are up next with Misery A slight industrial feel to misery, what I really love from misery is the guitar riffs and tones, vocally I was not blown away, but this could well be something I need to see live and hear more from the band, this is not me slamming the band or the track just on this track I was not blown away by one element. Other than I love the production as well, feels like there is a story to the lyrics. Taking a break from the MAFS world, we deep dive into the TLC show, Sister Wives. Ade has been a previous viewer of the show and she encourages Tayne, who has never watched, to get into the show.We fine comb everything about the show from its very beginnings, their beliefs, the dynamics and the slow 180 of all the women and Kodi as we go from season to season. We talk about our favorite wives, the many tears and why we think they are lying to us and themselves. Tayne also fully expresses who her least favorite wife is and why while Ade shares some tidbits that have never been shared on the show before. We hope you enjoy this snippet and you can check out the full episode by joining our Patreon at https://www.patreon.com/AltarCallMAFS
Y'all know we don't watch this before the show starts and instead prefer to watch it with hindsight glasses - all the better to judge with. Here is a sneak peek at our bonus episode where we go through the process with the experts and the couples and talk about how it is a different process this year, given that it was all done virtually.Tayne's sole goal is to see how Chris made it through but by the end of the episode, she also wonders how Jacob made it through as well. We both acknowledge how we view Jacob through a different lens now.We also go through the experts thought process on their match-ups and wonder why they skimmed over concerns that they had. We talk about the match reveals to the couples and their reactions, how hopeful Paige was and how interesting it was that Pastor Cal asked specifically asked Chris if anyone would be mad that he is getting married. You can check out the full episode by joining our Patreon at https://www.patreon.com/AltarCallMAFS
It's finally here and the season comes to a close with the second part of the reunion. Kevin Frazier is still around to probe and interrogate a bunch of different groups and we were here for every bit of it.We still think that this 4 hour reunion was unnecessary but we discuss how we enjoyed this second part a little more for two reasons - Paige's friend, Nancy and having the experts walk us through their thought process. We go through the painful scene that is Haley and Jacob's hatred and Ade doesn't understand why they are so focused on blaming the other. We try to understand some of Kevin's thoughts at the reunion especially his loyalty to Haley that forces Tayne to be a Jake apologist but she uses the opportunity to teach you all a Nigerian slang.Thank you for listening to another season. We appreciate each and everyone of you! We will be back in July for the new season but we will keep the bonus episodes coming. It's the penultimate episode with the Part 1 reunion and Kevin Frazier is back! Loads to talk about on this episode as we discuss the recap (yet again) of the couples' journey and Kevin Frazier asks the hard hitting questions that we the people want answers to. Ade talks about how this reunion has no business being 2 hours since they filled it up with guests that added no value. We talk about ErGinia and how they might have rehearsed some of their answers and how Ryan & Clara seemed so solid and gave us the feels. We also talk about Kevin making Ryan say the three words to Clara and if it was forced. We ponder the possibility of Chris getting media training and wonder why on earth Pastor Dwight was at the reunion. As always, we give you an update on previous couples and give a side eye to Jake, Tayne might have a teeny crush on Ryan but she still thinks there is a possibility Ryan and Clara still haven't had sex? We also wonder if Chris and Paige have rights to pick and choose what they don't want to talk about given that they chose to be on a reality show.We also ask you guys to drop any questions you may have for us for an upcoming Ask Us Anything episode.Drop your comments here on Instagram and Twitter - @altarcallmafs. We made it to the finale! The couples finally make it to the end of 8 weeks and everyone is back, including Chris & Paige, and they have to decide on whether they want to stay married or get divorced. No surprises here as our predictions were right on the money. We discuss how the producers make up for the lost Chris & Paige time by having them dominate decision day with their unbelievable drama. We try to make sense of Chris & Paige's thought process and fail. We also talk about the three couples that stay together and the not so surprising decision by Jake and Hayley to get a divorce. It was a packed finale and we ponder whether Chris & Paige are in some entanglement, Dr. Viviana's frustration at Chris, the cheesecake proposal, the couples' decision day looks and so much more. We also talk about the return of Couples Cam, which of the new couples will be joining and which aren't. Tayne gives a recap of last week's Countdown to Decision Day special and Ade gives a quick rundown on the last two episodes of Unmatchables. We love to hear from you guys so, drop all your MAFS thoughts and questions to us on Twitter or Instagram at @altarcallmafs and use the hashtag #altarcallmafs. Since we did not recap the Countdown to Decision Day Special, we decided to recap the first two episodes of the newest addition to the MAFS family - Unmatchables with Dr. Viviana and Pastor Cal. We fill you in on the premise of the show and then discuss the first two couples featured in each episode. We dissect everything about the show - from the selection process, to how loose the experts are on this show, without the pressure of a marriage like on MAFS. We also discuss how this show is not exempt from the over-editing and over producing like its parent show.We share our different takes on the show - Tayne thinks the premise might affect the original MAFS while Ade doesn't think so and we let you know if we will watch this show again.Don't forget as the season winds down, we will be dropping bonus episodes on our Patreon. You can join at https://www.patreon.com/AltarCallMAFS
So close but still far from Decision Day, the couples are sent off to a couples retreat to hang out with the other couples and keep working on their relationship. Probably on edge close to d-day, we discuss all the problems that seemed to surface over the weekend. We can't for the life of us understand Haley and Jacob as a couple and neither do they as we dissect the palpable hatred between them on this trip and how Jacob does not play with his meat and eggs. We also talk about how this was not a good episode for Virginia and Erik and Ade reminds us how incompatible they are. We still think they will stay together. We also talk about Vince's latest tantrum and Clara's astute observation on how stubborn her girls are.As always, we give the social media updates from past couples and an Unfiltered recap. Tayne also recaps past couple, Jamie and Doug's latest podcast episode where Jamie thinks Doug is cheating on her. Drop your comments here or on Instagram and Twitter - @altarcallmafs. We reminisce about old season formats and former couples we loved and got sick of and Tayne believes this is the first season Shaun Robinson has ever watched in its entirety. We go through all the Tell All couples and breakdown Andrew's tantrums, Tarik and Hazel's complicated relationship and of course the hatred Mike and Natalie have for each other. It's a fun episode! We hope you enjoy the preview. Feel free to share your thoughts on the episode! New episode out now. Venues Shifting Colours'-New album Solace out 27th August 2021 via Arising Empire German modern metal outfit Venues have released a video for their highly infectious new single 'Shifting Colours'. The track is the second single from their forthcoming album Solace, due for release on 27th August 2021 via Arising Empire. Check out the video for 'Shifting Colours' here: https://youtu.be/3RSvRsp2YGU Stream/purchase 'Shifting Colours' here: https://Venues.lnk.to/shiftingcolors Pre-order Solace in various formats here: https://Venues.lnk.to/solace From the depths of their deepest crisis, Venues emerge victoriously, welcoming two new members - clean vocalist Lela and guitarist Valentin. When former vocalist Nyves quit the band mid-tour, following the release of their pivotal debut Aspire (2019), the modern metal juggernaut was shaken to the bone. Despite this, the remaining members refused to give up and tirelessly searched for new talent. Following guitarist Constantin witnessing a performance of Lela at (of all places) at a Steel Panther show, the band found their new clean vocalist. Venues went into the studio with producer Christoph Wieczorek (Annisokay) to record Solace, who coated their massive sound with a metallic alloy of remarkable precision. “We wanted to be more metal,” Robin comments. “There were some pop sensibilities of Aspire we wanted to replace with rather the opposite.” Melody and punch-drunk heaviness, metal and alternative rock, zeitgeist and authenticity, barbed choruses and unleashed creativity: with their soaring sophomore release, Venues fulfil every single promise they gave on Aspire. “2020 showed all of us how much the band is helping us keep our sanity,” guitarist Robin muses. “Almost the whole band went through minor or medium crises since the release of our debut. Relationships went sour, things were ended and begun. In times like these, our second album was the light at the end of the tunnel. Something we all could look forward to. Our music held our heads above water.” It's a big leap, going from Aspire to Solace, and it's a logical one, too. Ten songs, ten exorcisms of negative energy, ten lifesavers. For fans of HEALTH, Code Orange, Nine Inch Nails and Author & Punisher, 'Coherent' is the title-track and first taste of the band's forthcoming EP, due for release on 2nd July 2021. Check out the video for 'Coherent' here: https://youtu.be/pEeoVwIUoQw Stream 'Coherent' here: https://linktr.ee/Tayneband TAYNE's concept originated as a satire on contemporary pop music. With heavier music seeping into the mainstream, TAYNE was formed to try and test the limits of "pop music" ideologies. Heavy, industrial soundscapes serve as a juxtaposition alongside calculated, overproduced sounds and vocals with the classic verse-chorus-verse pop structures. TAYNE's music has been described as an aural assault, welding atmospheric vocals, punishing guitars and pulsating electronics to create immersive and intense sounds. The band released their album BREATHE in 2018, with themes exploring self-doubt and insecurities. Since then, TAYNE have gone on to share the stage with the likes of HEALTH and Acid Mothers Temple. The band have spent the last year recording new material with Wayne Adams of PETBRICK / BIG LAD producing and recording, starting the next chapter of their compelling journey. TAYNE on line https://www.facebook.com/tayneband/ https://twitter.com/tayneband/ https://www.instagram.com/tayneband/ Straight away 'Coherent' has me hooked as I am greeted with Electronic sounds and some great beats over the top of this are some nice crunchy guitars I really like 'Coherent' feel like I have gone back to the 80's kinda of a Depeche mode meets pets shop boys vibe to this a plenty of energy in this Hunted By Elephants Keep On Giving Me Loving Popular Brit rockers HUNTED BY ELEPHANTS continue their ascension with the release of their new single and video, Keep On Giving Me Loving, out now. The track is taken from the band's much acclaimed new album, Carry On, which is out now. Watch the video for Keep On Giving Me Loving, here - https://youtu.be/zWuhY4gOUeI . HUNTED BY ELEPHANTS started life during the middle part of 2018. The London-based rock 'n' rollers have picked up glowing comparisons spanning from classic rock heavyweights such as Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath, through to modern genre-based counterparts: Rival Sons, Greta Van Fleet, and Queens Of The Stone Age. With a shared love for hard rock from the 1970's and beyond, HUNTED BY ELEPHANTS despatch riff-driven cuts that are soaked with an analogue warmth, and powerful and energetic drumming, all rounded out by fat low-end grooves and utterly captivating vocal lines. The foursome's debut album, Rise of the Elephant, arrived in 2019, and quickly picked up great support from the underground. The record also produced two popular singles, Unnamed and Human Eyes. Lifted by the response to their debut release, the energetic rock crew commenced work on their sophomore album, Carry On. HUNTED BY ELEPHANTS' current album, Carry On, is packed with exhilarating groove cuts, stout dynamism, and energetic riffery. The record has been hailed by a slew of sources including: Classic Rock Magazine, Powerplay Magazine, Ramzine, Fireworks Magazine and ERB Magazine. Singles from the album also garnered rampant radio airplay from Hard Rock Hell Radio, ERB Radio, and Primordial, among others. With live music poised to return later this year, the band are set to push on again. Today, the band releases the second single ‘Terminal Dispatch' alongside a video created by director Johan von Bulöw. Terminalist's lead singer, guitarist and lyrical mastermind Emil Hansen has the following to say about the song: “Telling a story of aerial and technological advancement throughout the 20th century, ‘Terminal Dispatch' chronicles a planet ravaged by these innovations in the 21st century. To escape the escalating crises, the advanced technology of modern warfare must now be used to launch mankind into outer space, leaving the dying planet behind to find refuge in the skies.” Terminalist recently announced a release show, which will take place at Stengade in their native Copenhagen, Denmark on May 8th, with support from Throwe. Denmark is in the process of gradually lifting its long enduring lockdown, which includes letting music venues hold pandemic regulated shows once again. The clear hope is that the show will indeed go on, and the limited amount of tickets for the release show are already sold out. Several more shows for late summer and fall are being planned subject to world events. Terminal Dispatch https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CQD7WAJKWcU TERMINALIST are: Emil Hansen - Vocals and Guitar Morten R. Lastly this week a band Setting The Tone are always happy to talk about The Hara return with a new single this week Afterlife https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vxpt5WokxMw Afterlife for me is a slightly different take on what the guys have delivered so far this is slightly more stripped back in terms of energy, lyrically this is stunning and well worth just sitting the back and listing, packed with melodies and the melodic guitar tones and hooks, Afterlife is a perfect addition an already impressive catalogue of songs from The Hara and no doubt will be a crowd favourite when live music returns. To begin Financial Literacy Month on SheVentures, who better than Leslie Tayne to discuss one of America’s biggest financial problems: debt, a $14.6T reality for American households. Leslie Tayne always knew she wanted to be a lawyer despite her father warning her when she started 20 years ago that it truly was a boys club. She tried many facets of the law before she pivoted to what became her passion — as in-house counsel to a debt company. Today, The Tayne Law Group is changing the face of debt resolution law. Her mission is to create a more constructive way of handling debt resolution. Tayne is well respected as someone who focuses on the solution and how to educate and engage her clients. Tayne’s “open door” policy encourages her clients to consult with her team before taking a financial action they may regret later — such as student loan and credit card debt, decisions on major purchases like buying a new car, or taking out a mortgage. With a focus on financial wellness and working with their clients as a team, Tayne’s group points clients in the right direction, even if it’s outside their practice. She wants to do what is in their best financial interest. Listen to find out what actionable steps you should take if you find yourself in seemingly insurmountable debt — facing unemployment, the unexpected positives of COVID-19, and the truth behind debt consolidation myths on this episode of SheVentures.
