[School of Everything Else 2024] This was a commissioned show for Self AKA Selfproclaimed. Ever since The Legend of Aang wrapped in 2008 there have been comics expanding upon what followed the defeat of Fire Lord Ozai. This, however, was a pair of books; 'The Rise of Kyoshi' and 'The Shadow of Kyoshi' detailing what occurred four centuries prior to the adventures of Team Aang. And the 2019-2020 release of these two novels, penned by F.C. Yee with consultancy from co-creator of Avatar Michael Dante DiMartino was met with wild adulation. Both books have astronomical five star reviews on Amazon, with more than 9K ratings corroborating that. What I personally got from the books was a lot more of a mixed bag. There is amazing potential here, however, not all of it was fulfilled. Luckily we also have longtime friend of the show Nama Chibitty on, to counterpoint my hang-ups. And this episode launches on the same day as School of Movies unveils the second in our series of short story anthologies, written by members of the community. 'Shared Footprints on Crossed Pathways' is the follow-up to 'The Lights from Distant Bonfires' in 2022. This collection sees legendary public domain characters like Sherlock Holmes, Winnie the Pooh, Zorro, The Phantom of the Opera, Captain Nemo, Cthulhu, Minnie Mouse, Don Quixote, Scheherazade, Tarzan and King Kong meeting up and examining one another's worldviews. This podcast examines an article written in The New Yorker called, 'The Rise and Fall of Vibes-Based Literacy'. It was written by Jessica Winter. She's an editor at The New Yorker, where she also writes about family and education. She is also, a clown. A clown, in literacy terms, is a person who thinks they know much about literacy, when in fact, their knowledge base is very shallow and disjointed. What makes a clown a clown is their clownery. This is when they write or speak as if they know a lot about things with which they actually know very little. We laugh at clowns. I laugh at Jessica Winter. I also laugh at Emily Hanford because they're clowns and they don't realize that they're clowns. They see themselves as great crusaders for the betterment of our “children's” education. Ha, ha, ha. Very funny. This is the first in a series of podcasts examining this article. In this podcast, I try to help Jessica Winter understand what Reading Workshop is.

We have released a comprehensive overview of the AI breakthroughs we are seeing everywhere, more specifically in what that will introduce into the religious world. There is a large possibility that the greatest danger of AI is not what the world fears - loss of jobs, military implementations, etc. These are real issues, but a supreme AI may be able to seduce mankind into worship, and even play a very real role in Biblical end-time events. We are already seeing previous 'nonreligious' people such as atheists suggest they would follow a religion if a 'perfect' AI god wrote a new 'perfect Bible' worth following. In this epsiode, we discuss Dr James Crossland's new book 'The Rise of Devils: Fear and the Origins of Modern Terrorism' (Manchester University Press, 2023). We cover much ground relating to the history of terrorism, right up to the preset day and forecasts for the future. James is a Reader in International History, whose present research interests lie in the history of terrorism, societal fear, intelligence and propaganda. He is also a specialist in the history of international humanitarian law and the Red Cross movement, in particular during its formative years (1860s-1914). Beyond his research endeavours, he is Co-Director of LJMU's Centre for Modern and Contemporary History and Postgraduate Coordinator for the School of Humanities and Social Science.James has recently completed his third book, 'The Rise of Devils: Fear and the Origins of Modern Terrorism' (Manchester University Press, 2023), which examines the development of international terrorism across the transatlantic world during the late nineteenth century. However, there are still some in the scientific community who believe the technology can and will be harnessed for good. Astrophysicist, author of “Starry Messenger,” and esteemed scientist Neil deGrasse Tyson joined The FOX News Rundown's Lisa Brady to discuss the ongoing fears surrounding AI and put them in perspective. Neil deGrasse Tyson explained that while some concerns are real, many are overblown. In this episode I speak with Steven Russell, a service designer and now Innovation Manager at Stagecoach bus in the UK. We chat about autonomous buses - a project that Steven has been working on for quite some time. Now, no longer in the realms of movies like Back to the Future 2, it's not too far away. How far I hear you ask? Well at some point this year, Edinburgh will hopefully become one of the first cities in the world to start rolling the service out in a R and D capacity. We chat about all the ins and outs about the process, and discuss what the service might look like, potential service failures and other industry dependencies like insurance (who is responsible in the case of accidents) and also how to prepare society for visual of seeing a bus with people driving down the road, with no human driver at the wheel. Note: Since recording the launch date for the autonomous bus service has been announced. It will open to the public on Monday, the 15th of May.
