North London is red! In this episode we're looking back on, and enjoying, a second 4-1 North London derby win of the season. We chat about Arsenal's early dominance, and the nonsensical nature of the early stoppage in the game which, thankfully, didn't halt our momentum. We should have been ahead at the break after Eberechi Eze put us 1-0 up, but a big mistake from Declan Rice saw them equalise. We turned the screw in the second half though, with another from Eze and two from Viktor Gyokeres who put in a really impressive performance. We also discuss the disallowed goal and David Raya's incredible save, as well as how the Gunners responded to the midweek disappointment at Wolves. In part 2 we have questions about Jurrien Timber and Cristhian Mosquera, whether Eze should keep his place for the game against Chelsea on Sunday, Declan Rice's on-pitch comportment in recent times, whether we'd like to see Sp*rs get relegated, and lots more.Get extra bonus content and help support Arseblog by becoming an Arseblog Member on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/arseblogAlso, if you're a fan of the show, please leave us a rating/review on your favourite podcast app, it'd be greatly appreciated! Host Ricky Sacks is joined by Broadcasters Russ Williams, Marcus Buckland and Luke as we review the north London derby which ended in disappointment. Although Randal Kolo Muani scored his first Premier League goal just two minutes after Eberechi Eze's opener for the visitors, the Gunners scored three unanswered goals in the second half – Eze on target again and Viktor Gyokeres with a brace – to wrap up the win at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and repeat the 4-1 defeat they inflicted on us at the Emirates earlier in the season. We debate the genuine alarming concern of relegation from the Premier League and whether interim head coach Igor Tudor can keep Spurs in the Premier League, as we continue to ship goals consistently. Sunday was meant to be a potential banana skin for Arsenal as they went to North London rivals Spurs, led by new manager Igor Tudor, for a North London Derby with important implications. As it turned out, it was Eberechi Eze who was the star of the show for Arsenal, scoring his fourth and fifth goals for the Gunners against Spurs this season in a 4-1 win, with Victor Gyokeres also helping himself to a brace. Elsewhere, Manchester City beat Newcastle for the third time in four attempts this season, thanks to a Nico O'Reilly double and Nottingham Forest were unlucky to lose in the dying stages to Liverpool, who just about kept up their Champions League chase. Marley and Joel are on hand to discuss all the talking points from another entertaining weekend of Premier League action. In this episode we look back at the 4-0 win over Wigan in the FA Cup 4th round on Sunday. It looked like we were going to see Myles Lewis-Skelly in midfield, but a late rejig saw Bukayo Saka play there instead. There's a lot of discussion of him in that position, and whether it's something we might, or indeed should, see more of between now and the end of the season. We discuss the flurry of goals we scored in the first half, the contribution of Eberechi Eze with two assists, a firing forward line, and the way the rest of the game played out with some interesting young cameos in the second half. There are also listener questions about Cristhian Mosquera, Ethan Nwaneri's unsettled situation in Marseille, Ben White and Christian Norgaard, injuries in the warm-ups, and lots more.Get extra bonus content and help support Arseblog by becoming an Arseblog Member on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/arseblogAlso, if you're a fan of the show, please leave us a rating/review on your favourite podcast app, it'd be greatly appreciated! In this episode I'm joined by Ryan Hunn of the Stadio podcast to pore over last night's 1-1 draw with Brentford. We discuss a first half in which nothing much happened, but one which raised further questions about Eberechi Eze, and how we get more out him in an Arsenal shirt. The half-time introduction of Martin Odegaard helped, Noni Madueke put us ahead but we immediately sat back and Brentford equalised not long afterwards. We try and explain how and why that happened, as well as chatting about the final stages of the game in which we could have both won and last the game, coping with the chaos of the opposition set-pieces, hindsight substitutions, the grind of the Premier League, what Mikel Arteta will do – if anything – to try and find the attacking spark, and lots more.Follow Ryan on BlueSky here: https://bsky.app/profile/ryanhunn.bsky.socialGet extra bonus content and help support Arseblog by becoming an Arseblog Member on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/arseblog Hosted on Acast. Arsenal leave West London with a point — but far more questions than answers. In this episode of The Non-Negotiables, we break down the 1–1 draw at Brentford and ask whether Arsenal are drifting away from the identity that made them so dominant. With Manchester City applying pressure in the title race, this was a night that demanded control. Instead, it became another conversation about long balls, lost fluency, and a worrying lack of sustained chance creation. We analyse the starting XI, the impact of key absences, and how the tactical approach shaped the first half. Is “Long Ball FC” becoming more than just frustration? Are Arsenal overthinking matches against teams they should be imposing themselves on? And what does this style shift say about the manager's current priorities? There's a deep dive into the Eberechi Eze debate — recruitment vs role — and whether he's being used in a way that suits his strengths. Then we unpack the second-half momentum swing: Odegaard's introduction, the return of familiar patterns, and Madueke's header that briefly felt like the breakthrough moment. But control evaporated. We examine the throw-in equaliser, the defensive lapses, and the concerning injury situation around Odegaard. Why was he left on? What did it cost Arsenal structurally? And how much did fatigue and squad rotation play into the late chaos? We close Part 1 with the bigger picture — xG, chance creation trends, and the uncomfortable truth about title-winning standards. Can you win a league without a 20-goal forward? And what actually is Arteta's football right now?Part 2 covers managerial sackings across the league, concerns around Ethan's loan situation, another controversial VAR weekend in MW26, and a look ahead to the FA Cup tie against Wigan — a potential reset moment before Wolves. The title race isn't over. The dust has settled on the Manchester United defeat, but the questions are only getting louder. Jacob Hawley is joined by Johnny Dutch to move past the raw emotion of losing to a bitter rival and dissect the psychological state of the squad. They ask if the obsession with control has gone too far and if the ghosts of seasons past are haunting the tactical setup. On the deck: The £60m Dilemma: We drop a controversial take on Eberechi Eze's future. Is he a “maverick” unsuited for a dominant system, and have we already seen enough to know he isn't the answer? PTSD Football: A deep dive into whether Mikel Arteta is “coaching by trauma”—designing a system so terrified of making mistakes that it has forgotten how to take risks. The Captain's Fade: Why Martin Odegaard has become the lightning rod for fan frustration. We debate if it's a physical decline, a confidence crisis, or simply a player handcuffed by rigid instructions. Stumbling Into Solutions: History shows Arteta often finds his best attacking setups by accident. We argue why it's time to force the issue with Merino up top and bring Ben White back to unlock Saka. The League of Margins: Why the Premier League has morphed into “90s Serie A” and why a data-driven, risk-averse approach might not be enough to get over the line. This podcast would normally be for members, but I can't upload it to Apple Members because the Apple servers are down and have been for a long while... so I'm having to release it to everyone so the Apple Members have something to listen to this evening. We'll do a make-up members podcast for everyone very soon. It was a night of religious experiences at the San Siro as Arsenal delivered a “delicious” 3-0 victory over Inter Milan to secure a top-two finish in the Champions League group stage. Johnny, Jacob, and Matt are here to bask in the glow of a performance that proved the Gunners are truly the “best team in Europe” right now. In this episode we discuss: Jesus Reborn: Gabby Jesus gets the nod for a big European night and delivers a “fox in the box” masterclass. Is this the blueprint for the striker position while we wait for Havertz? The Big Vic Debate: Viktor Gyökeres silences the doubters (briefly) with a stunning late goal. We analyze whether his future lies as a “chaos agent” off the bench rather than a starter against low blocks. Magnificent Mosquera: A massive shoutout for 21-year-old Christian Mosquera, who stepped into the backline with “tank energy” and looked like a 10/10 signing. Saka's Playground: Bukayo Saka turns up for the Champions League anthem yet again, leaving Federico Dimarco with “twisted blood” in a dominant display. The Eze Conundrum: While the attack flowed, Eberechi Eze still drifted in and out. We discuss how to unlock his undeniable talent before the season's crunch time. Hottest of Takes: From “mental barriers” being broken to bold predictions of a historic treble, the boys are turning up the heat. Plus, we look ahead to a massive clash against Manchester United at the Emirates. Grab a refreshing beverage, sit back, and enjoy the ride—this runaway train isn't stopping anytime soon. In this episode of The Arsenal Opinion, Pete and Jacob break down a frantic but entertaining victory over Portsmouth. They discuss why the chaotic nature of cup games is often more enjoyable than the tactical rigidity of top tier Premier League fixtures and praise the fresh energy brought by the rotated squad. The conversation takes a brief detour to La Liga to analyze the exit of Xabi Alonso from Real Madrid. The hosts debate whether player power has gone too far and if modern superstars like Mbappe and Vinicius Jr are becoming unmanageable for even the world's best coaches. Back in North London, the focus shifts to individual performances with some contrasting takes. Jacob argues that Ethan Nwaneri looked like a seasoned midfielder against Portsmouth and makes the case for him to keep his place for the upcoming Chelsea clash. Pete dives into the worrying data surrounding Viktor Gyökeres and questions if the club missed a massive marginal gain by not signing a striker who better fits the system. The boys also share their relief at the return of Kai Havertz and discuss how his presence instantly balances the attack. Additional topics include the struggles of summer signings Eberechi Eze and Noni Madueke to find consistent output, the specific chemistry between Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli, and a full preview of the lineup dilemmas facing Mikel Arteta for the League Cup semi final. In this episode we look back at Saturday's 3-2 win over Bournemouth. We discuss the uncharacteristic error from Gabriel which gave the home side the lead, then examine his response and what that says about him as a player and a leader. There's credit for Bournemouth in terms of how difficult they made it in the first half, before Declan Rice's second half brace put us in a commanding position. Eli Junior Kroupi pulled one back thanks to a wibbly-wobbly ball, but Arsenal saw the game out comfortably enough, and we talk about how recent experience of dealing with single goal leads might have played a part for us. There's also chat about other results and goings on in the Premier League this weekend, before we answer questions about Ethan Nwaneri after he failed to make the squad, another game with 0 minutes for Eberechi Eze, the growing importance and influence of Declan Rice, Piero Hincapie, and loads more. Here's Tim's column on Eze - https://arseblog.com/2026/01/eze-come-eze-go-2/Get extra bonus content and help support Arseblog by becoming an Arseblog Member on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/arseblog Hosted on Acast. In this episode we look back at Saturday's 2-1 win over Brighton which sent Arsenal back to the top of the Premier League. We chat about how the game made us feel, with a single goal lead feeling very precarious in the final stages, and we try and unpack the reasons why that is right now. Then we get into the game itself, the dominant first half performance, Martin Odegaard's goal and other chances to score, before we turn our attention to the second half, extending the lead, conceding a goal, and David Raya's incredible save to keep it 2-1. The first half finishes with reflections on our league position, and not being entirely convincing but still winning, and then in part two we answer listener questions about the striker situation, Gabriel's return, Mikel Arteta's substitutions, Eberechi Eze and Noni Madueke's playing time, and loads more.Get extra bonus content and help support Arseblog by becoming an Arseblog Member on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/arseblo Hosted on Acast. We chat about the team line-up in the absence of Gabriel and with MikelMerino up front, and yet another goal from Leandro Trossard to put us 1-0 up. In this episode I'm joined by Tom Canton to chat about the Interlull goings-on. We begin on a positive note after former Gunner Kieran Tierney had a moment to remember for Scotland, before we delve into the Gabriel injury and the subsequent reporting around how predicted absence.
