Host Ricky Sacks is joined by Adam Osper, Jack Hussey and Adam Nathan as we discuss the fall-out from the January Transfer Window and the verdict on Technical director Johan Lange outlining why Tottenham decided not to make "stress purchases" in a quiet January transfer window as he insisted the club have big plans for their summer business. We also discussed journalist Gaston Edul reporting Cristian Romero is to leave Tottenham Hotspur in the summer and whether the panel agree with the Argentinian's latest outburst and potential exit. We finally give our view on Wing-Fai, chief executive of Triller Group, a company created following the “$4bn” – just under £3bn – merger of two Hong Kong tech companies, willing to meet Daniel Levy's asking price, along with previewing Manchester United to come in the Premier League for Spurs on Saturday. Host Ricky Sacks is joined by Jason McGovern, Billie T and Luke as Cristian Romero took another swipe at Tottenham's recruitment strategy as they closed the transfer window without enough reinforcements to satisfy their World Cup winning captain. Spurs beat Arsenal to 18-year-old striker James Wilson from Heart of Midlothian on deadline day. Wilson will join on six-month loan with an option in the summer and spend the rest of the season with the Under-21 squad in north London. Spurs this month have signed England international midfielder Gallagher signed for £35million from Atletico Madrid and teenage Brazilian left back Souza signed for £13m from Santos. We sold Brennan Johnson to Crystal Palace for £35m and, in January, lost a cluster of players to injuries, including most of the defence. We review the business and discuss where this leaves Thomas Frank for the second-half of the season, the negligence shown by ENIC/The Lewis Family and question what do they even want this Club to try and be. Steff and Milo look chronologically at a week which started with Thomas Frank's Warm & Fuzzy Training Ground Lunch, and ended with a last gasp point scraped at Burnley. Meanwhile, the alternate universe Spurs cruised to an easy 2-0 win in the Champions League v Dortmund. We also shamelessly celebrate Cristian Romero!Website: https://thegameisaboutglory.co.uk/Bluesky: @thegameisaboutglory.co.uk Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
Jack is joined by Billie T to react to Tottenham's last-gasp draw with Burnley. We discuss how Cristian Romero turned goalscorer, a consistent theme this season, to snatch a point from the jaws of a terrible defeat. But the bigger question remains: how is Thomas Frank still in charge? We react to the particularly uncomfortable video of his interaction with fans after the final whistle, and discuss whether the board are ignoring the reality of a fanbase that is incredibly unhappy. We delve into the "data vs context" debate, apparently the underlying numbers suggest a slight upturn, but does that matter when the team looks so uninspired and lacking direction? Conversation moves to the ongoing experiment with Djed Spence in an attacking role, and the rumours linking Andy Robertson to the club. Have we become a donkey sanctuary for aging stars? We also weigh up the reports suggesting Guglielmo Vicario could be sold to Inter Milan. Finally, Billie fills us in on the latest Change For Tottenham initiative ahead of further planned action at the Man City game. Theme is Ghost Cat by Gillen Learn more about your ad choices. It is groundhog day for Marcus Buckland and George Sessions after they assess Spurs' dramatic 2-2 draw at Burnley a week on from a similar dismal result in defeat at home to West Ham. Should under-fire Thomas Frank still be in a job? Are the fans going too strong with their chants? Should the players be more accountable after poor defending at Turf Moor? Host Ricky Sacks is joined by Jason McGovern, Actor TJ Ramini and Luke as Cristian Romero popped up with another late equaliser to rescue a point at Burnley on Saturday. The central defender produced a brilliant 90th-minute header from Wilson Odobert's cross to score his third goal in as many games and ensure we didn't leave Turf Moor empty-handed, having found ourselves denied by a string of Martin Dubravka saves and the frame of the goal over the course of the contest. His central defensive partner Micky van de Ven had earlier fired us into a deserved lead, but Burnley fought back with goals from Axel Tuanzebe and Lyle Foster either side of half-time. Without a win in 13 Premier League outings beforehand, the Clarets looked set to cling on despite our heavy pressure for what would have been a famous win - until Romero, much like he did at Newcastle United last month, took matters into his own hands to make it 2-2 at the end. There was still a sense of frustration for the team at full-time, though, having gone close to adding to the scoreline on multiple occasions. We discuss where this leaves the future of Thomas Frank and if he deserves to continue in his position as Spurs' head coach. Host Ricky Sacks is joined by Actors TJ Ramini and Darren Hart along with Luke as another wonderful Champions League night in N17 saw us overcome Borussia Dortmund with goals from Cristian Romero and Dominic Solanke rounding off an excellent performance. Tuesday's 2-0 victory guaranteed a top 24 finish in the league phase and a play-off place and, depending on Wednesday night's results, it's likely a win at Eintracht Frankfurt next Wednesday will secure a passage straight into the last 16. Facing a Dortmund side which had only lost once in the Bundesliga all season and were joint top scorers in this season's Champions League, we were always on top in the contest, even before Daniel Svensson was given a straight red card in the 26th minute. By that stage, Romero had netted his first Champions League goal for us, while Solanke capped his first start of the season with his first goal of the campaign to put us 2-0 up at the break, a lead we didn't relinquish. It extended our run to 24 home European matches without defeat and four home wins without conceding in the league phase this term, while there was a further bright spot with a debut off the bench for 17-year-old Academy product Jun'ai Byfield, becoming Legacy Number 902 in the process. We also discuss what impact the nature of the result has on under-fire head coach Thomas Frank. West Ham finally won in the Premier League! This week on The West Ham Breakdown, Jack and Cal celebrate a massive away victory against Tottenham Hotspur. After a prolonged period of struggle, the Hammers turned a corner in North London scoring in the stoppage time to sink Spurs at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Jack and Cal take a look at the stark contrast between the two halves, discussing how West Ham didn't just compete but actually dominated the first 45 minutes. The tactical deep dive focuses on the return of the 4-4-2, exploring how Taty Castellanos and Pablo Felipe performed diligently out of possession to stifle Spurs. Host Ricky Sacks is joined by Broadcasters Russ Williams, Marcus Buckland and Marlon as we suffered late heartbreak in Saturday's London derby as West Ham United struck an injury-time winner. In a typically frenetic derby clash at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, a thumping second-half header from skipper Cristian Romero had cancelled out Crysencio Summerville's early deflected opener for the visitors. But, despite plenty of pressure on the Hammers' goal, we were unable to find the winner and instead, Callum Wilson netted a close-range strike to snatch the points and end their 10-game losing streak. We discuss where this leaves the future of Thomas Frank and whether he can survive this latest London derby defeat and manner of the performance. Liverpool edge a chaotic 2–1 win away at Tottenham in a dramatic Premier League clash. Spurs were reduced to nine men after red cards for Xavi Simons and Cristian Romero, but the game still delivered plenty of talking points. In this match reaction, we break down the performance, Florian Wirtz records his first Premier League assist, Ekitike continues his fine scoring form, and there's concern as Isak is forced off with what's feared to be a serious leg injury.Full reaction, key moments, and honest Liverpool discussion.
Host Ricky Sacks is joined by returning guests Luke, Marlon and Mitch Fretton as a spirited fightback fell just short as we suffered a 2-1 defeat to Liverpool on Saturday evening, finishing the game with nine men in a dramatic and chaotic ending at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Having been reduced to 10 men in the first period following a straight red card shown to Xavi Simons for a challenge on Dutch international team-mate Virgil van Dijk, we conceded twice in 10 second-half minutes to Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike as the visitors made the most of their numerical advantage. But we pulled one back through substitute Richarlison, his fifth career goal against Liverpool, and had the visitors on the ropes for the final stages, only to suffer another dismissal when Cristian Romero was sent off for a second yellow and we couldn't find that equaliser in the closing minutes. Primero, un 1-1 ante Chelsea en Stamford Bridge: un clásico intenso, con control gunner y superioridad numérica, pero sin la contundencia necesaria para liquidarlo. Host Ricky Sacks is joined by returning guests Martin Cloake, Marlon and Luke as returning Cristian Romero produced a two-goal captain's performance including a stoppage time overhead kick to earn us a dramatic point at St James' Park on Tuesday evening. Back in the side after serving a one-game suspension on Saturday, the skipper twice cancelled out Newcastle goals as the game exploded into life in the final 20 minutes. The Magpies' own captain, Bruno Guimaraes, came off the bench to open the scoring with a fine strike before Romero's diving header drew us level. Then, after a controversial penalty was converted by Anthony Gordon with four minutes left, our Argentine international scored a spectacular equaliser five minutes into injury time to salvage a 2-2 draw. Marcus and Tom B review Tottenham's 2-2 draw at Newcastle in the Premier League, focusing on two-goal hero Cristian Romero, one of the harshest penalties you're likely to see and the response Thomas Frank's side gave to end three defeats in a row at one of their bogey grounds. Erling Haaland scored his 100th Man City goal in just 111 games last night, but that was only half the story on a crazy night at Craven Cottage. Fulham fought back from 1-5 down to make it a nervy ending for Pep Guardiola's side, but the Citizens held on to keep the gap between themselves and leaders Arsenal at two points before the Gunners face Brentford. Elsewhere, Newcastle twice led toothless Spurs at St James' Park, only for Cristian Romero to score a diving header and a 'bicycle kick', the second of which came halfway through nine minutes of added time, to break black and white hearts on Tyneside. Marley and Joel are on duty chatting through all the headlines from a goal-crazy Tuesday night in the Premier League. Two worldies from Cristian Romero have spared Spurs yet another defeat in the Premier League after a wholly uninspiring performance from Thomas Frank's men. Tottenham's performance, however, pales in comparison to the shambolic officiating on display to award potentially the worst penalty ever seen. Jack has plenty to go on about with this one. Host Ricky Sacks was joined by Actors TJ Ramini, Darren Hart and Jim Via Oh So Spurs as our first-ever appearance in the UEFA Super Cup ended in a heartbreaking penalty shootout defeat to Paris Saint-Germain after a dramatic night in Italy on Wednesday. In what was Thomas Frank's first competitive game as our Head Coach, we looked like we were going to add more silverware to the Europa League trophy we won three months ago, leading the Champions League winners 2-0 with five minutes to go. A goal in each half from defenders Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero – leading the team out after being appointed club captain – coupled with an outstanding display put us in control at the Stadio Friuli, home of Udinese. But PSG dug deep and levelled with two late goals, Kang-In Lee scoring with five minutes left before Goncalo Ramos equalised in the 94th minute. The game went straight to penalties and once again we led 2-0, but we couldn't hold onto our advantage again and ended up losing 4-3 on spot-kicks. The French champions only returned to training recently having reached the FIFA Club World Cup Final during the summer, but fielded eight of the starting 11 that began the Champions League Final against Internazionale, which they won 5-0. However, we produced a superb performance. All over the pitch we were excellent, defensively sound, snapping into tackles and closing up the gaps in midfield and dangerous in attack, while the pressing of the team in all areas was outstanding, not allowing PSG to get into their stride until the final moments when they dragged themselves back into the contest to force the shootout. There's a reason we left this one until near the end... a week ago all seemed positive at Tottenham Hotspur, a win against rivals Arsenal, but a week on and James Maddison has picked up an ACL injury, others such as Destiny Udogie and Dominic Solanke, who were meant to be back still aren't, and last night Bayern Munich handed Thomas Frank's boys a bit if a football lesson. Ricky Saunders joins James to discuss what that means for Fantasy ahead of an enticing set of fixtures. Pedro Porro, Cristian Romero and Micky Van De Ven all still appeal at different price points and parts of the FPL community want one of Brennan Johnson or Mohammed Kudus. But might a cheaper alternative step up in the opening weeks of the season?
