Gary is joined by Adi Viveash, who recently joined Middlesbrough first team coaching staff and also spent eight years at Chelsea as assistant Academy and assistant reserve team coach before being named Under-18 manager in July 2011. He was promoted to development squad manager in 2014, which saw him lead Chelsea's Under-21s. During his time at Chelsea, among the players Adi had a key hand in developing were Marc Guehi, Conor Gallagher, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Mason Mount and Reece James. His departure from the Blues was confirmed in May 2017 but two months later he was back in work having been named assistant manager at Coventry City. In this interview, Adi gives a unique perspective on life at Chelsea, how the game has changed in the last 10 years, the variables that coaches must take into consideration, how coaches manage elite level players who are on the verge of the first team, plus the difference between first team coaching and development. This is our special series: “What If?” In these episodes, we dig into the biggest sliding doors moments in Sky Blues history. The near-misses. The great escapes. The transfers that didn't happen. The goals that changed everything — or almost didn't. What if Robbie Keane had stayed? What if Adi Viveash never left? What if we hadn't survived that day at White Hart Lane in ‘97? Hello good people. We recorded a podcast last week. It was a day or two after the rawness of the Sunderland defeat, and that is reflected in the variety of thoughts that you will hear in this episode. Five defeats on the bounce ain't exactly the best form to be having heading into the playoffs - especially when you're facing Coventry City. Can the Lads do it, or is it destined to be another season in the Championship? It's the bogey team of bogey teams, but if we want to have a crack at making it back to the Premier League, then we must get beyond them. To let us know what we can expect is the always super lovely Ross Spence from the Sky Blues Extra podcast. Enjoyed the episode? Sunderland end the regular season with five defeats on the bounce, and the mood in the fanbase is particularly low. What could make it even worse? A double date with Coventry City. Oh well. Ross and Pete join me as we dig through another placid Sunderland performance and assess our playoff chances on the back of some pretty horrific performances. Can they all surprise us? Let's see. Coventry City manager Frank Lampard has praised former manager Mark Robins and owner Doug King after guiding them to the Championship play-offs despite taking over with the club 17th in the table. Luton manager Matt Bloomfield has apologised to the club's supporters following their relegation to League One after a 5-3 defeat at West Brom, describing back-to-back relegations as a 'painful' moment for them. In the Premier League, Aston Villa moved a step closer to finishing in the Top 5 with a 1-0 win at home to Fulham live on talkSPORT, whilst Leicester scored their first Premier League goal at home in 2025 after beating already-relegated Southampton 2-0 at the King Power. Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta reacts to their 2-1 home defeat to Bournemouth, as fans question whether they can go on to finish in the Top 2 of the Premier League this season. Hosted on Acast. We have completed the Easter period and remain, somewhat inexplicably, in as strong a position as we started. 6th place, 3 points clear, with our destiny very much in our own hands. This merry bunch of sods will talk you through things, and also the general contempt towards the quality of the league this season. Sure, there's some questioning about "how good are we?" but also some "please just get us to the play-offs, we want another adventure". It's Joey, Neil, Dom and Gav for this one. We asked Paul but he blamed a crossbar for impairing his view at Plymouth, and thus, was unavailable to talk about it.
