CLASSIC ROCKERS THE SWEET RETURN WITH NEW SINGLE/VIDEO, "INSANE” OUT TODAY Darkstar Records Mar 14 Golden Nugget Casino Showroom Las Vegas NV“'Insane' flew into my head like a bat out of hell," said Stone. "I went into the shower without it, came out and in my head it was done. I sent Jimmy a voice memo humming the song and he sent back the sick riff on guitar the way we hear it in the recording. After watching the movies 'X' and 'Maxxxine,' a character in my head came to life and I wrote the lyrics to this half imaginary, half true love, heroine. 'Insane' really takes Sweet back to its roots of dirty rock n' roll, crazy chord changes and larger than life harmonies.Subscribe to The Adventures of Pipeman at https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-adventures-of-pipeman--941822/supportTake some zany and serious journeys with The Pipeman aka Dean K. Interview by Kris PetersThe Sweet have been a musical institution since the early 1970s after bursting onto the scene with their debut album Funny How Sweet Co-Co Can Be in 1971. Their Who-influenced hard rock style, supplemented by a striking use of high-pitched backing vocals, struck a chord with youth the world over, propelling them into a career which continues with much love, fervour and respect to this day. With a succession of hit singles, including Ballroom Blitz, Fox of the Run, Love is Like Oxygen, Wig Wam Bam, Blockbuster, Teenage Rampage, Hell Raiser, Action and countless others, The Sweet were always the darlings of the music scene in all incarnations of the word. They toured relentlessly and continually sold out larger venues, in the process building for themselves a musical legacy that will stand the test of time in comparison to most others. To put it simply, The Sweet have been, and remain an iconic force in the world of music with no signs of slowing down just yet.So it is with a touch of sadness that The Sweet soon hit Australia for what has been dubbed The Farewell Tour - Greatest Hits. To run us through what to expect and take us on a trip down memory lane, HEAVY sat down with guitarist/vocalist Andy Scott to get the full rundown."We're coming to Australia to tour in November," he began. "With me will be my singer, Paul Manzi, my bass player Lee Small, my drummer Adam Booth and our younger, genius, second guitar player/ keyboard player Tom Cory. Also, I've just been told yesterday, that it looks like we'll be going to Tassie and then finishing in Perth." We ask what fans can expect from The Sweet in 2024."We've been through many phases, as you would imagine with the difference in music styles," he explained. "Fifty-odd years of a catalogue with almost three hundred songs in it… try picking twenty from that (laughs). I think most of the set writes itself, and we're certainly going to do about a dozen of the hits. Then we're gonna fill it with things like Set Me Free and some of the heavy rock stuff. Because we've been releasing some stuff more recently, we'll probably chuck a couple of the new ones in. It depends how long and whether we've got supports on all of the dates. It depends how long we are going to be playing, so the set might change slightly. There'll be something for everybody, I can tell you that."In the full interview, Andy talks more about what to expect from The Sweet on the tour, the extra shows at Airlie Beach Music Festival and on Rock The Boat cruise, coming up with set lists to appease the fans, adapting to change over the years, memories of the band's first Australian tour in 1975 and more.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/heavy-music-interviews--2687660/support.
In this episode of The A to Z English Podcast, Xochitl and Jack answer an IELTS Speaking part 2 question type. Transcript: 00:00:00JackYou're listening to the A-Z English podcast.00:00:14JackWelcome to the A-Z English podcast. My name is Jack and I amhere with my co-host social and today we are going to do an IELTS speaking Part2 question and here is the task car.00:00:29JackDescribe a memorable event in your life.00:00:34JackYou should say what the event was.00:00:39JackWhen it happened.00:00:41JackWhere it took place and why it was memorable and social. Allthat you have the 1st to go at this one.00:00:53JackA memo a a memorable event in my life was my quinceanera, which, for those unfamiliar, is a tradition in Mexican culture. When a girlturns 15.00:01:08JackAnd it's kind of like a Sweet 16, except you're you'reyounger. These parties in different cultures. It's similar to, like, a botmitzvah or a bar mitzvah. And Jewish culture, a Sweet 16 in American culture. And a lot of other kind of coming of age parties that are rooted in, really.00:01:30JackOld traditional culture. So it happened when I was 15, solittle over 10.00:01:38JackYears ago now.00:01:39JackAnd it took place in Kentucky, which is where I went to highschool, and there was a kind of famous house that you could rent out forparties called the Bell House, I think. And our family rented it out. That wasthe location.00:02:00JackUM.00:02:01JackIt was just really memorable because it's.00:02:05JackA really fun it's like having a wedding, but you're thestar. You don't have to share the spotlight with anyone else. It's a party, abig party all about you, and you get to wear a big poofy Princess dress andhave all your friends there and all your family there and everyone you careabout and have. Delicious.00:02:25JackFood and dance and.00:02:28JackIt's just a perfect day. That's all about you. And whenyou're 15 and you get to feel like a Princess, that's like a very special kindof.00:02:37JackThing I think.00:02:39JackAt that age, so.00:02:42JackOK.00:02:42발표자So I think.00:02:43JackThat was mostly why I really enjoyed that.00:02:50JackHow about you, Jack?00:02:52JackYeah, that's. I mean, that sounds amazing. Atkinson.Kitchen, quinceanera.00:02:59JackMy daughter is 15 right now and it's too bad they don't do.We don't have that tradition in Korean culture or American culture because theSweet 16 is not really necessarily celebrated. It's just something we say onthe 16th birthday, like, hey, it's your Sweet 16.00:03:19JackBut we don't actually do anything usually. I mean, somepeople will, but.00:03:24JackIt's rare. I think it used to be more.00:03:26JackOf a thing that's just now.00:03:27JackYeah. Yeah, it's not like, I mean, it's a, it's an actualritual that is practiced very diligently by by Mexican people, right? I mean,it's like.00:03:41JackWell, it just kind of. It does depend. I think it's doing aresearch dance now and it did for my, for my generation and younger was aresurgence, but.00:03:50JackMy sister, like millennials, didn't really have necessarilycame to hear a lot of people were offered having like a trip or a cell phone ora car.00:04:03JackInstead. But my mom didn't.00:04:05JackLet us do that, she said. You have to have your quinceanerabecause you can have.00:04:10JackA car like a first car, a cell phone or a trip at any pointin your life, but you can only have a kids in your at one point in your life.So that's what you're getting. And I'm very happy she did that because it was acultural moment.00:04:23JackI think.00:04:24JackYeah. And then you said it was one, it's one of the mostmemorable events in your life. OK, well, I'll try. I'll. I'll go with minehere. A memorable event in my life was when my daughter was born. It happenedin 2008.00:04:42JackAnd September of 2008, I won't give away all the informationwith the exact date.00:04:49JackUM.00:04:51JackIt happened here.00:04:52JackIn South Korea, and it was at a a special uh Women'sHospital in South Korea, where my wife, instead of of giving birth naturally, she had a C-section and so.00:05:09JackSo that's a a surgery. So I was not allowed to be in theroom. I know sometimes the husbands can be in the operating room for aC-section, but in this case they asked me to just wait outside. So it felt likea.00:05:30JackLike a long time ago, when fathers had to wait outside and Iwas really stressed.00:05:38JackI was just hanging out with my wife's brother, just waitingand waiting and waiting and finally the nurse came out and she said my wife wasfine and my wife was just sleeping cause she was recovering from the surgeryand they took me to the baby room.00:06:00JackAnd I got to see my daughter through the glass. And that wasthe first time that I that I ever saw her.00:06:09JackAnd I'll never forget that moment. Because you know, there'sa bunch of babies in there. But then I could see my.00:06:15JackMy little baby.00:06:17JackWho? You know, newborns look like aliens. You know whenthey're first born, they're just all eyes and they they're not. They don't havethe chubby, the baby fat when they're first born. And so she just looked like atiny little bug or something, you know, with these these little eyes and so.00:06:37JackYeah, that was the absolutely most memorable moment in mylife, and I don't think anything will ever, really.00:06:46JackOver overtake that on my list.00:06:51JackSo there you go.00:06:52JackWow, Jack, that was a really special.00:06:55JackOne to share.00:06:56JackYeah. No, it's it's such a yeah. It's it's a life changing, you know, I mean you, you know that nothing will ever be the same after afterthat and.00:07:06JackYeah, and and now it's already the time has already passedby. She's already gone at school and and studying in in America. So it just inthe snap of a finger it went from that to basically she's she's on her own. So.00:07:23JackShe's almost an adult now. Just very yeah.00:07:25JackI know, yeah.00:07:28JackAnd it's crazy because even if she is an adult, you neverstop being a parent, I guess.00:07:33JackNo, no, no, no.00:07:35JackIt's going to be a little kid and I'm still a a child in my,you know, parents eyes and they're in their mid 70s and I'm I'm almost 50 andthey still worry about me and, you know, want me to be doing well.00:07:48JackSo I think that's a a universal thing. The parents willnever stop worrying about their children, no matter how old they get listenersout there. Why don't you guys take a look at the task card and do your ownpractice for IELTS speaking, Part 2? You got to hear 2 examples.00:08:08JackOne from social and one from me. You can leave a comment onour website azenglishpodcast.com or send us an e-mail at AZenglishpodcast@gmail.com and better yet, join our WhatsApp group and getinvolved.00:08:23JackWith other listeners who we have great discussions in there,I'm involved in there all the time, so it's a great way to communicate withwith your host here and also other students who listen to the show. The 25’O Clock Show Presents: The Man from Uncool “Guilty Pleasures”Now we all know that some artists such as Barry Manilow and Genesis can be considered uncool. But if you enjoy listening to them does that make you uncool or a radical free thinking uber- cool maverick cocking a snook at the petty considerations of the less enlightened? Only you know if your guilty pleasures are “out there” or just your little secret. But whether you’re a lonely househusband from the 1950’s, blubbing in to your morning gin with all mascara running down your face, whilst listening to “Jolene” or a typical happy- go -lucky trucker, driving your artic home in your high heels, whilst taking the air-guitar break on The Carpenter’s “Goodbye To Love”, this is the show for you…probably. So, join me The Man from Uncool, as with Ben (out of the Rock Show) and Si (out of whatever show he does on radio Lewes) we play the tunes that others (who frankly have more concern for their listening figures) dare not. Oh and along the way we use science to discover the truth about Phil Collins
