Integral parts, airing on the side of less volume, and wavepool technology. Chad Watchel (Tijuana Panthers) "In one form or another, Tijuana Panthers have existed most of its members' lives. Daniel Michicoff (bass/vocals), Chad Wachtel (guitar/vocals), and Phil Shaheen (drums/vocals) became friends when they were teenagers in Long Beach, California, and started playing music together soon after, eventually becoming one of the shining stars of the twenty-first century garage-rock revival scene—a (relatively) chill surf-rock-inspired complement to the ruckus of acts like Ty Segall and Thee Oh Sees. But while many of their initial contemporaries have gone through lineup changes or thrown in the towel, the Panthers are hanging tough—and, in a sense, just hitting their stride." Pipeman shares his story of recovering from two heart attacks while surfing before being locked down due to the pandemic. Brandon mentions that he has nightmares about having a heart attack on a wave, but also talks about the healing powers of the ocean and how French doctors prescribe surfing to heart patients. Pipeman and Brandon have a conversation about not boxing artists into genres and how Fidlar's music is influenced by punk, rock, hip-hop, and other genres. They also discuss the songwriting process and how they typically start with a riff or melody and build from there. Pipeman asks Brandon and Max about their favorite live shows and Brandon mentions a show in San Francisco where they played with Thee Oh Sees and Ty Segall. Max talks about a show in Hamburg, Germany, where they played in a small club and the crowd went wild. They also talk about the challenges of touring, such as being away from home and the toll it takes on mental health. Brandon and Max share some of their coping mechanisms, such as meditation, exercise, and journaling. Pipeman asks about the future of Fidlar and they mention their upcoming album and tour plans. It's the 50th episode.  That's right, folks, 50.  Half of 100.  In simplified math, that is still 50 over 1.  Cannonball!  The water is deep and so is the well of Michael's vocabulary.  Corkscrew! Here comes the Creepy Man (imagine the Boogeyman if conceptualized by a man that fully believes in the power of farts and their medicinal use (also, his name is Timothy)).  Jackknife!  Max went to Cincinnati. Out flowed the chili and in flowed Michael's understanding of the Spanish language.  30 Days or Less: That's the Michael Rowland guarantee (and you can bank that in your Memory Palace).  Flying Squirrel!  Entourage: The Show: The Experience (can you say "We're making a movie!?!"). Michael is taking. trip to explore South America.  With any luck, he'll discover Medellin like Stanley Tucci discovered Italy. High Dive! We're excavating Mormonism- bring on the gold plates and fetch my magic underwear because these churches are beautiful! Bellyflop! The fellas are exploring some of their past interviews to recap some of our best talks over the last 50 episodes.  Here's to 50 more episodes and 50 more years of kissing your friends on the lips if they want to.Also, Little Nicky stopped by"Don't worry, baby.  I got you covered."Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/intheminivanFollow us on instagram: @intheminivanpodFollow us on twitter: @intheminivanFollow us on TikTok: @intheminivanpodcastWe're on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCTxCtwpkBssIljyG6tdJbWQGet in the Discord: https://discord.gg/YWgaD6xFN3Episode Playlist: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/6BuJDJ9Yj9CJ7I1xQraoPK?si=d9739a20bcb948beTHE MASTER PLAYLIST: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/2saxemA3MOXcjIWdwHGwCZ?si=ee3444c085714c46*James K. How did the U.S. respond to the British Invasion? Garage Rock. But what is garage rock, exactly? Let's define it, talk about its history, and identify what it sounds like. Let's also talk about some of the fantastic bands that defined Garage Rock. Made up of individuals who perform with immense raw energy, these guys are often called the first wave of do-it-yourself punk rockers. These may have been amateur musicians, but these guys were inspired by the same 50s Rhythm and Blues acts that the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, and the Kinks started their careers covering. They did it rawer, heavier, and wilder. Garage Rock is still going strong today, with acts like Ty Segall, and Thee Oh Sees making music with those 60s garage rock sounds. It's time again to set the controls for the heart of the sun and celebrate our co-host: Robert Harrison's birthday! Space out with us as we absorb a collection of songs that evoke the essence and vibes of his favorite band: Pink Floyd. While not obscure at all (they have 2 albums that are diamonds!), we shine on with snippets of similar sounds and themes by somewhat more modern bands from the 90s until today. What is it we do here at InObscuria? Every show Kevin opens the crypt to exhume and dissect from his personal collection; an artist, album, or collection of tunes from the broad spectrum of rock, punk, and metal. Robert is usually forced to test his endurance, but this week is all about songs firmly in his big bang zone. Our hope is that we turn you on to something that was lost on your ears, even with this collection of great dance songs sounding similar to one of the biggest selling rock acts of all time.Songs this week include:The McBroom Sisters – “What Do You Want From Me”from Black Floyd(2020)Porcupine Tree – “The Jokes On You” from Up The Down Stair (1993) King Buffalo – “Mammoth” from Regenerator (2022)RPWL – “Masters Of War” from The RPWL Experience (2008)Thee Oh Sees – “Carrion Crawler” from Carrion Crawler / The Dream (2011)North Atlantic Oscillation – “Ceiling Poem” from Grappling Hooks (2010)Anathema – “Your Possible Pasts / Goodbye Cruel World” from Alternative 4 (1998)Check out Robert's amazing fire sculptures and metal workings here: http://flamewerx.com/Please subscribe everywhere that you listen to podcasts!Visit us: https://inobscuria.com/https://www.facebook.com/InObscuriahttps://twitter.com/inobscuriahttps://www.instagram.com/inobscuria/Buy cool stuff with our logo on it!: https://www.redbubble.com/people/InObscuria?asc=uIf you'd like to check out Kevin's band THE SWEAR, take a listen on all streaming services or pick up a digital copy of their latest release here: https://theswear.bandcamp.com/If you want to hear Robert and Kevin's band from the late 90s – early 00s BIG JACK PNEUMATIC, check it out here: https://bigjackpnuematic.bandcamp.com/
