Vine Vegan - OUR STORY FOOD IS MY LOVE LANGUAGE My greatest relationships and bonds have been forged with an abundance of food cultivated with love and care. Every gathering with friends and family; always a feast. Breaking bread together, sharing laughs, and stories is how I've always made deep and meaningful connections with people. No greater joy exists for me than to have my house full of people (family, friends, strangers; literally anyone) and for them to eat a meal I made and leave feeling the love I poured into preparing it. In My Family Food = Love I learned to cook from the most important and influential people in my life; my mom, dad, and grandmother. My family's journey to veganism was quick and mostly seamless, and rewarding in all the ways. As we swapped our chicken for tofu and our ground beef for lentils; I knew that with every meal, I was impacting the livelihood of animals and our planet. I was setting up myself, my husband, and our children for a healthier future. With every non-vegan friend or family member who marveled over my plant-based delicacies, I knew I could make a difference if more people could enjoy them. I am determined to set a strong example for my kids to have empathy and compassion for the world around us. To hope others will join us, even if just a few plant-based meals a week. As a daughter of a Latino and a Brit, who was born in Hawaii, raised in Europe, and an American through-and through; I was sure to balance everything by connecting my heritage and life experiences when creating the Vine Vegan menu. With this in my heart and support from my family and friends, I bring you vegan dishes that I hope will blow your mind. This is my mission: to bring people together over food, capture the culture of community, and use ridiculously delicious vegan food to do it. I welcome all who are curious, or defiant, or courageous. We want you to eat well and feel good about what you eat. And with every spoonful I hope there to be love, compassion, and open-mindedness. With Love, Danielle Stevens eat@vinevegan.com Plants for Pets has a program where adoption flyers are attached to all take out orders to promote adoption. After the cancer survival and exposure to vegan documentaries, Danielle had fully conceded to the idea of veganism. She was now not only in it for health, but for the animals and the environment as well. This was the birth of “Vegan Danielle”. In 2017, she started her own vegan-themed podcast and began attending vigils with LA Animal Save about a year later. She felt inspired to get into even better shape, just to prove to others that vegans could do it. Today, Danielle still runs her podcast, exercises regularly, and eats a mostly WFPB diet (with the occasional Beyond Burger). Her goal is to share her story in hopes others can find inspiration to make the change as well.

Danielle grew up in the kitchen with her grandfather, spending hours at a time cooking with him. She started working in the restaurant industry when she was a teenager, and in her late teens early 20's started going down a path that resulted in addition and self-harm.In 2007, she had a horrendous motorcycle accident (she was hit by a semi-truck), which landed her in the hospital with a shattered ankle and multiple skin grafts. She made it out alive. Unfortunately, the position she was in before the accident with accessibility to drugs, combined with a growing prescription drug addiction from the accident, lead her to a nearly deadly heroin addiction. Her healing journey started with detox, rehab, anonymous meetings, counseling, and other forms of therapy. She slowly began to change her life, eliminating cigarettes and junk food around 2013. In 2015, after watching a few documentaries, she decided to go vegan, which prompted her to dive into vegan cooking, and in 2017 started her podcast, Vegan Danielle. Vegan Danielle is now her trademark! Her resilience and courage is just incredible and I feel lucky to have her on the show today to share more about her incredible story.Topics Discussed:More about her incredible story of overcoming several addictions and severe traumaThe root cause of her traumaHealing modalities that workedBody shamingThe body positivity movementThe importance of the perspective of non-judgement and compassion for both humans and animalsWhere she is today in her journey and what she is currently curious aboutConnect with Danielle:Podcast: https://www.vegandanielle.com/podcastInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/vegan_danielle/?hl=enWebsite: https://www.vegandanielle.com/
