Afghan Cycles follows the journey of a group of young women in Afghanistan who are pushing gender and cultural barriers by riding bicycles. This inspiring film uses the bicycle to tell a story of women's rights, human rights, and the struggles faced by Afghan women on a daily basis... from discrimination, to abuse, to the oppressive silencing of their voices in all aspects of contemporary society. These women ride despite cultural barriers, despite infrastructure, and despite death threats, embracing the power and freedom that comes with the sport.     Kate McGoey-Smith's story is extremely inspiring. In 2007, Kate was diagnosed with class 3 idiopathic pulmonary arterial hypertension, a rare disease that only affects 2-4 people in a million.  She was given 5 years to live and was heavily medicated. Through this process, her lungs shut down, which left her relying on an oxygen machine, and she also became legally blind. During this devastating time, she discovered a whole-food plant-based diet. Kate and her family dove straight in and the results that followed were incredible. She lost 110 lbs, reversed her type 2 diabetes, and her eye-sight returned. Kate is now dedicated to helping as many people as she can become educated on how a plant-based diet can transform your health. Her story is amazing, and excited to share our conversation!     Dr. Gemma Newman has worked in medicine for 15 years and is the Senior Partner at a family medical practice. Dr. Gemma studied at the University of Wales College of Medicine and has worked in many specialities as a doctor, including elderly care, endocrinology, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, psychiatry, general surgery, urology, vascular surgery, rehabilitation medicine and General Practice, and also gained additional qualifications in gynecology and family planning. She is a graduate of the AFMCP course, and is a member of BSLM. Dr. Gemma specializes in plant-based nutrition and lifestyle medicine, and is an advisory board member of Plant Based Health Professionals UK. She gives nutrition and lifestyle advice to her patients, who have gained tremendous results using the power of their plate. As a broadcaster and writer she has also been featured on many TV shows, including ITV, Channel 4, Channel 5 and Sky News. She has contributed to articles for magazines including Glamour, Zest and Health magazine, and also appeared in the feature film 'Vegan 2018'.     Jeff Tritten has such an inspiring story. While co-owning a BBQ restaurant, Jeff's health began to rapidly decline. He gained over 130 lbs, and was suffering from an array of health issues, such as pre-diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, sleep apnea, elevated liver and kidney enzymes, and severe arthritis. After a hospitalization, Jeff knew that if he didn't make changes, and soon, that he was going to die. On his journey to reclaim his health and life, he discovered a plant-based diet and hasn't looked back.
