In this episode, I'm joined by clothing and style analyst, Risa Kostis. When Risa set out to create a styling business, she had no idea that it would revolve way more around the people than the articles of clothing or the latest handbag trends. Risa's true purpose in life is to help women build confidence through her ability to authentically coach them on how to dress and the work she does through not only her style consulting but also her product line, is all done with an overarching theme in mind..."How can I help women in their day-to-day lives look and feel more confident, so they can face the day and know their own strength?" Risa and I discuss her own personal journey through several challenging and traumatic events in her life to come out on the other side happier, healthier, and stronger than ever. Together, we discuss:The traumatic car accident that left her needing several facial reconstructive surgeriesNavigating a traumatic brain injury and brain health at a time where such topics were not normalized or talked much aboutGrasping her own emotions and healing during a rapidly changing period of life (going from high school into college)People pleasing and rooting her acceptance and value in how other people viewed herWhy she made the conscious choice to be single and independentHer history in dating addictsCalling off her wedding and then jumping into into a toxic relationshipThe power of listening to her gut and intuitionHer choice to give up alcohol and the benefits she's seenWhat she's discovered in prioritizing her health and wellness over the past yearConnect with Risa:https://www.instagram.com/risakostis/https://risakostis.com/Want to share your story of personal growth, healing, and turning your pain into power? A radio presenter, DJ, label owner, curator, agent, artist manager, a man of many music hats. Today he is the label manager and A&R for Jungle Juice Records, Greece's largest trap, hip hop and RnB label. He continues his radio show, programming for Plissken festival stages amongst many other projects. Black Athena not only has been spearheading a new movement within Greece, which now has surpassed traditional Greek pop music, Black Athena has been a voice for change, a platform for youth culture, providing the space for creation, keeping passion and dreams alive through all kinds of adversity . Known as Black Athena, Kostis Niforakis is the voice of the radio show which airs weekly on national radio throughout Greece. We discussed a bunch of things about the rise of Greece's alternative music scene and the impact it has had on youth and music culture. Pretty much every trip to Athens in almost the last 6-7 years, I meet with Kostis to learn more about it. Hope you enjoy listening to our discussion while we sat in Plaka, Athens at the end of August. Musician and Realtor Steve Epstein and Kostis Protopapas, artistic and general director of Opera Santa Barbara, tell all about how government officials on the state and local level have ignored live music as part of the COVID-19 re-opening strategy. To say "we will wait until the pandemic is over to have live music," is nonsense, Protopapas says. The two are working with a large group of arts stakeholders to bring live music, with social distancing, back to Santa Barbara. "My community has been deprived of their tribe," Protopapas said. "We have been deprived of everything that means something to us." Steve and Kostis explain their plan for returning outdoor live performances to Santa Barbara.

The weekend is over but Tiger is a winner again, completing a dominant four rounds at the Tour’s first ever event in Japan. Before getting to Tiger’s chase for records that may or may not matter, the Browns and Bears get their lashings and Andy confides he might have set a record himself this weekend: time spent at The Woods Jupiter. News also hits on Brooksy’s (and Jena’s) Halloween costume and the PGA Tour confirming there will be on-site gambling next year.

Greece was all over the news in 2014 and 2015. You might remember hearing about the new radical left party Syriza, the referendum, the violence in the streets, the German banks, the flamboyant finance minister Yanis Varoufakis. So what happened? Mistrusting the mainstream narrative coming from western media outlets, and suspicious of the abrupt end of most news coverage we decided we'd travel to Athens and see for ourselves what was going on in the aftermath of the tumultuous events which have been building up over the last few years in Greece. From the streets of Athens with our host Yianni Litovchenko from Alternative Tours of Athens, to the apartment of the Greek activist Maria Scordialos, to the economic analysis of James K. Galbraith, to the Refugee Accommodation and Solidarity Space City Plaza. Join us. Jason is honored to have Nick Kostis to Lawhead’s Court for an emotionally thoughtful funny walk through an era no longer there. In the first of a series of interviews with the comedy legend, its Kostis who owns and operates arguably one of the very best comedy clubs in the country, Hilarities in Cleveland. Vision and innovation will be part of his legacy, but it was the sounds of laughter as a child that made Kostis so much more to comedy and a community. In this first interview we ask Nick to talk about his childhood. Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, the son of Greek immigrants, his parents were the sort that always welcomed newly arriving friends and strangers to the country and offered a place to stay. It was this convivitality which became the moral compass to a life as more than a club owner but truly an entertainment director. It was a child in 50’s Brooklyn that a young Kostis saw Jackie Robinson speak at his school, a memory that still stirs emotions for Nick. Having lived in a culture of change in one of the most diverse neighborhoods in all the world. Nick delivers the lessons he learned during a golden age of Americana.
