He finished solo 4th on Sunday earning a massive paycheck, temporary special member points, and a spot in the Puerto Rico Open. EPISODE 208Thanks, everyone, for tuning in to this week's show. There's a ton of stuff going on in golf, so we had a lot to talk about. LIV Golf returned, and we were not impressed. As golf fans, we all tried to watch the tourney in Mayakoba, but it was just hard to watch. The Honda Classic, however, even with a field of what many people called "nobody's," was damn good. The storylines that the PGA Tour continues to pump out there is something that LIV cannot replicate. At least right now, they can't. Who knows down the road? Another Elevated, Designated event hits the course this weekend on the PGA Tour as the Arnold Palmer Invitational takes center stage with a good as-it-gets field for a non-Major. Joe and Matt played in the Double Par Skins game out at Desert Pines Golf Club, where Matt was destroyed in his Match Play event, 8 & 6. (that was hard to type). Then we voiced our opinion about Desert Pines and what people can expect when they show up to play there. Fox5 Meteorologist Matt Gontarek gave us a look into the weekend forecast, and we're finally starting to see some typical weather now that March is finally here. So damn weird this winter has been here in Vegas. We wrapped up the show with the odds for the API and Puerto Rico Open and made out picks for both tourneys. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------If you haven't checked out our NEW YouTube channel, please do and hit that Subscribe Button for us! Live from Puerto Rico, Matt Every joins us ahead of the Arnold Palmer Invitational, which he famously won in back-to-back years in 2014 and 2015. Unfortunately, that didn't earn him a spot in this year's field, but Every is still chasing the dream at the Puerto Rico Open. The outspoken pro has also started a new podcast of his own, and is hopeful that he can return to TV when he eventually calls it quits. Every, CP, Steve and Alex also give their Bay Hill picks, and the boys debate the merits of simulator golf.

A weak field, but a phenomenal finish for the Honda Classic, LIV's 2023 debut, a golf terminology quandary, and Mr. Style himself on this week's podcast. While not a designated event, the Honda Classic delivered with a playoff finish, a 61 watch, and Alex's fourth winner of 2023 (1:48). The LPGA was over in Asia for the Honda LPGA Thailand, where American Lilia Vu took her first tour win over a very international field (7:04). LIV Golf kicked off their 2023 at Mayakoba, but more people were watching funny animals on the CW than their premiere on the network (8:52). The Arnold Palmer Invitational is bringing out all the stars this weekend, but let's not forget about the grinders who will be at the Puerto Rico Open (11:02). In Tuned In, Michael is wondering what a "pigeon" is in golf, while also watching the final season of Picard. Meanwhile, Alex is getting live airplane landing video suggestions on YouTube, while also catching Back To School with Gus Johnson (14:06). Marty Hackel, golf's Mr. Style, chatted with Alex at January's PGA Show. Marty shares with Alex the do's and don'ts on the golf course, and the advice he game the game's greatest (19:25). March Madness is just about upon us, and Alex is ready as the NCAA heads into conference championship weekend (38:10). Baseball is back, with some perplexing new rules (39:15). It's all about pizza when the guys #AlwayEndWithFood, but also what condiment they could survive on for 24 days. Outside of his stellar game, Keith Mitchell is known for his throwback style on the golf course! The 45th ranked player in the world stops by the show and tells the guys that he's had an old-school fashion sense for some time now. It'll be a busy week on the PGA TOUR, as the worlds best tee it up not only at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, but also the Puerto Rico Open. Last year's champion, Ryan Brehm, needed a top-two finish at minimum to retain his TOUR card. A year after his clutch, career-changing win, we catch up with Ryan ahead of his start at API. Fred Perpall has been elected to serve as the 67th president of the USGA, and will be the first african-american to do so. George and Matt get to know the native of Dallas, Texas and hear about what he hopes to accomplish in his new role. Keith Mitchell (44:23) Ryan Brehm (32:04) Fred Perpall (23:56)
It's Wednesday so Andy and Brendan begin with a debate about high school basketball. Then they get to Bay Hill and another designated event on the docket. That results in an unplanned follow-up on LIV and some of its issues surrounding context and getting off the ground with delusional revenue goals. They also discuss the paltry ratings numbers that have come out in recent days. On Bay Hill, they discuss what they've come to actually appreciate about the API as a test for pro golfers and year-over-year ability to yield primo winners. The opposite of primo is the opposite field Puerto Rico Open, and instead of hollering about that field for another year, Andy quizzes Brendan on a list of names, making him guess between In/Out/Alternate. This results in many incredulous laughs, and some old-fashioned hollering too about “Big Tom Callahan” and many others.

Golf might actually be hard! Join us as we unpack a chaotic week at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, where shooting under par gets you a top 10. We talk Scottie Scheffler's second win, Hovland's poor weekend, and Gary Woodland doing Gary Woodland things. Plus course conditions, the Puerto Rico Open, and a look ahead at this weeks Players Championship.
The guys discuss a Brian proposed NBA trade-AD for Klay Thompson then they review the latest NBA standings/storylines-Will the Celtics pass the Bulls in the East? Will the Mavs or Nuggets pass the Jazz in the West? Jokic, Embiid and Giannis battle for MVP. Finally a shout out to former MSU Spartan golfer Ryan Brehm for his win at the Puerto Rico Open on his last chance to keep his PGA Tour card.
It felt like a Sunday at a major this weekend as everyone but Scottie Scheffler fell away at the Arnold Palmer Invitational. Hosts Alex Lauzon and Michael Russell wonder what the rest of the season holds for the white-hot Scheffler (1:49). At the Puerto Rico Open, meanwhile, a Hollywood story played out in textbook fashion as Ryan Brehm stole the show (5:10). Tiger Woods, meanwhile, stole any thunder Phil Mickelson had left as the PGA Tour announced the REAL winners of the PIP money (7:31). On the LPGA Tour, the wonder never ceased as Jin Young Ko continued to put up staggering statistics in her 6th win in 10 starts (9:46). The PGA Tour heads to TPC Sawgrass for the one and only THE PLAYERS Championship. Alex and Michael throw out some names to look at to win this weekend in what should be, as always, an electric event (14:46). In Tuned In, Michael, as a self-proclaimed Trekie, is all over the return of "Picard," while also checking out the new Taika Waititi show "Our Flag Means Death." Alex, meanwhile, is diving down the rabbit hole on YouTube and learning more and more about the Amish (18:06). This week's guest is Erikah Neger, an up-and-coming pro on the Epson Tour, who chats with Alex about how she got started in the game, her love of Stetson hats, and her personalized touches lightening bolts on her gear (22:22). Major League Baseball continues down the road of not having a season, but that doesn't stop Alex and Michael from discussing the potential changes that could be coming to baseball (46:08). The end of an era occurred this weekend as Coach K had his final game at Duke, but it wasn't exactly the fairy tale ending everyone had hoped for (50:50). The Quinnipiac Bobcats women's hockey team is headed to the big dance, and the guys are super excited for their alma mater (52:21). When the guys #AlwaysEndWithFood, Alex is extending an olive branch to McDonalds after his disgust at their land-air-sea move a few months ago, while Michael is enjoying the s'mores hamantaschen his wife whipped up this weekend (53:20). Mike and Jon vent about last weekend’s Honda Classic and preview an upcoming club fitting. They also talk about the upcoming Arnold Palmer Invitational and regrettably, the Puerto Rico Open…
The Honda Classic almost made it two weeks of wire-to-wire winners, but Daniel Berger collapsed and Sepp Straka took the win in the rain as host Michael Russell couldn't get his first winner of the season after host Alex Lauzon's big win last week. The guys look at what happened to Berger on Sunday at PGA National, and the rise of the Austrian (1:47). The hate for Phil Mickelson boiled over this week as every sponsor jumped ship after his incendiary comments about the new Premiere Golf League, and Alex and Michael wonder if he will ever play in the PGA Tour again (5:11). America's 2023's Ryder Cup team has a captain, and it's the not very exciting Zach Johnson, a guy that the hosts just can't seem to love that much on (10:47). The LPGA Tour returns this weekend with the "Asian Major," and that means awesome golf at odd hours (12:55). This weekend is a double event on the PGA Tour, with some players in paradise for the Puerto Rico Open, and the rest playing in Bay Hill for the Arnold Palmer Invitation, which will be without defending champion Bryson DeChambeau (13:51). In Tuned In, Michael is harkening back to his childhood by flipping through old "Calvin and Hobbes" cartoons, while Alex is watching "The Making Of" videos on YouTube from Vice featuring some of his favorite childhood songs (17:13). This week's guest is Tom Naramore, the co-founder and CEO of the D3 Golf App. Tom chats with Alex about his time in the technology industry, his love of golf, and how he and his team have created the world's first golf betting app that will actually keep and pay out winnings (20:32). Baseball season is supposed to be getting ready to take off right now, but instead it looks like the season will be put on hold as the lockout continues (48:56). As the guys #AlwaysEndWithFood, Alex is enjoying a splurge on sushi, while Michael is making dreams a reality with homemade donuts (51:36).
