Matt Adams is back for 2026! We get you caught up on everything that mattered in golf that you missed over the holidays. Tiger Woods turns 50, Rory McIlroy speaks about the new PGA Tour CEO and the Masters, Scottie Scheffler talks POY. Lots of ground to cover as we kick off the 20th year of the Fairways of Life.
No, this isn't real. It's a fun game to look at your game and see just how the game of golf could pay you back if there was a fictional pay system based on an individual hole result. Join Jeff Hartman as he breaks down if he could quit his day job to become a full-time golfer. Can he get it done? That's the topic on the latest Fairways & Dreams podcast, a part of the Golfer Gang Network of podcasts. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
You already know it: hitting more greens in regulation is the key to better scores. But how much difference does it make? In this episode, Lou asks Greg and Mark to compare the scores a scratch golfer will make when he hits vs misses the green from 125 in the fairway. And this one is a performance for the history books for one of the two competitors. Each of these will be a mini-episode (10-15 minutes long) about an interesting golf stat. We will discuss what you can learn, and most importantly, how you can apply this on the golf course to lower your scores and lower your handicap. Send us a textA Starlink meltdown, two missing Terriliums, and the cleanest long-neck builds you've seen—this one is part comedy of errors, part masterclass in the art of putters. We sit down with David Trett of Jet Putters to trace his unlikely route from college basketball to Dallas golf, where resort events, caddie loops, and indoor fitting bays turned into a crash course on performance gear and player psychology. Along the way, he learned to restore and customize putters—and now he shares the process live, sanding down the secrecy that usually shrouds the craft. We get hands-on with the details golfers actually feel. David breaks down why long necks can neutralize torque, how shifting the neck axis toward center changes face rotation, and when deeper milling softens sound without muting feedback. He shows how compact heel-to-toe profiles can sharpen alignment, and he experiments with left-hand neck flips to chase true zero torque. It's shop-floor truth instead of brochure buzzwords—useful for anyone debating face-balanced vs toe-hang or wondering whether a different neck could steady their stroke. There's a candid look at the live selling boom too. As the golf category on Whatnot exploded, volume and “games” reshaped pricing overnight. David explains how he reframed shows as marketing and community—teaching in late-night garage streams, fielding custom orders, and accepting the gritty reality of packing, split shipments, and the rare nightmare of unscanned boxes. The nostalgia thread runs strong: Mizuno blades, Zebra putters, burner bubbles, and proof that smart targets matter more than model year. We trade architecture notes—from the fairness of Sawgrass to the optical mind games of Whistling Straits, the beauty and brutality of French Lick, and why Ross parkland designs reward conviction. At the center of it all is meaning. Heirloom restorations for families, a Blue Angels-inspired Phantom for a retiring Navy veteran—projects that tie craft to memory. If you love custom putters, Scotty Cameron Terrilium, long neck mods, zero torque setups, and real talk about gear, you'll feel at home here. Tap play, share it with a golf friend who tinkers, and leave a review to help more gear nerds find us.Support the showSpecial thank goes out to our show sponsors:

We're fortunate this week to have a friend of the pod carve out some of his time and jump on the mics. Taylor Kinney is here on Chasin' Birdies. This one has us excited purely because we always love the opportunity to hang with TK, whether on or off the golf course. We open up the episode with our standard ten-minute banter before we get into the interview. The interview opens up with us talking about the early days and TK attending WVU in Morgantown, WV. We get into his travels and how he went from living in Hawaii to landing modeling/acting gigs. After some more life talk, we discuss how he came to be ‘that' guy on Chicago Fire. Spoiler alert - a fire in Chicago near the set had everyone scrambling, thinking the cast were actual firefighters. The story is told from TK's perspective. We get into a lot of questions surrounding filming and how the show operates behind the scenes. After more bantering, we turn the talk over to golf. We get into his early days of golf and how the game clawed its way back into his life not too long ago. We discuss traveling to play golf and how, without golf, we'd have never connected. The point being - we're golf addicts. If you're a golf addict, you can relate. We finally turn the episode over to our tap-in segment, where TK is asked questions that demand his quick response…although some answers aren't quick. Tune in, share, and hear from an overall great guy hangin' with us two for a good hour or so.Key Links:Visit redvanly.com for great golf apparel now repped by Chasin' Birdies. Winter Summerland Mini GolfIt's festive, holiday-themed mini-golf, featuring two unique 18-hole courses (Winter & Summer) that tell the story of Santa and his elves building a Florida vacation spot, with wintry, snowy obstacles on the Winter course and tropical, beachy elements on the Summer course, offering year-round Christmas fun for all ages. Fantasia Gardens and Fairways Mini GolfDisney World miniature golf complex near the Swan & Dolphin Resort, featuring two distinct 18-hole courses: Fantasia Gardens, a whimsical, family-friendly course themed to the movie Fantasia with characters and obstacles, and Fantasia Fairways, a more challenging, scaled-down traditional golf course with bunkers, water hazards, and sloping greens. Guests can play either course for a different experience, with the Gardens course focusing on fun and the Fairways course on skill. Typhoon LagoonTyphoon Lagoon is a typhoon-themed water park. It opened in 1989. The park's theme is based on a storm that destroyed a tropical paradise, featuring a 60-foot-tall man-made volcano, "Mount Mayday," with a shipwrecked shrimp boat, "Miss Tilly," on top. Welcome to the "Saturday Morning Golf Stat" from the Hack it Out Golf Podcast. We know it's a bad to be short-sided. But there's one pin location that makes us blind to the danger. In this episode, Lou asks Mark and Greg how often low single-figure indexes miss the green from 120–130 yards when the pin is in the back of the green versus the front of the green. The difference is not trivial, and should be something you keep in mind next time you head to the course. Each of these will be a mini-episode (10-15 minutes long) about an interesting golf stat. We will discuss what you can learn, and most importantly, how you can apply this on the golf course to lower your scores and lower your handicap. In this episode, I sit down with mortgage industry veteran and coach Carrie Guarrero to trace a three-decade career built on service, community, and relentless growth. Carrie shares how an 11-year-old's flyer route in her mom's mortgage office became a billion-dollar origination career—and why the trophies eventually mattered less than the names and stories behind each loan. She opens up about a career “pause” that didn't go as planned, the humbling return that led her to Fairway, and how that detour became the on-ramp to launching Fairway Ignite, an internal coaching organization now serving 600+ teammates with 80 coaches. We also get into how Carrie is building a multigenerational legacy; handing portions of her book of business to her daughter and longtime partner, and what “effective coaching” really looks like inside a high-performance culture: individualized matches, data-driven accountability, and an always-on community. Beyond business, Carrie reflects on being an Army mom (and former Army spouse), holding pride and fear at the same time, and the leadership lessons that come from service, ambiguity, and letting go. She previews her forthcoming guided journal Discovering WISE: Women in Search of Excellence—a 52-week journey designed to help women define success on their own terms—and shares the daily non-negotiables that keep her grounded in faith, family, gratitude, sweat, and stillness.Discussion Highlights:How a “failed” pivot can become the exact path you need nextThe core ingredients of coaching that actually moves numbers (and people)Why legacy leadership means empowering others, even before you feel ready to let goNavigating male-dominated rooms without dimming your light or your voiceThe power of holding two truths (proud and scared) and leading through uncertaintyA simple morning framework: gratitude, sweat, and reflective thinkingLinks & Mentions:Connect with Carrie Guarrero: Instagram • LinkedIn Book: Discovering WISE: Women in Search of Excellence — 52-week guided journey - grab your copy here!If this conversation resonates, I'd love for you to subscribe, rate, and share.
