(Austin Bechtold hosting) -Jeff Hathhorn joins to begin the show talking the US Open, they made their picks and talked about the field. - Callers - Bob Pompeani joins his own show with Austin! He talks the US Open. Fairways have been difficult but you have to hit them. Would you tether hit fairways or be able to two putt. Pomp says you need both but if he had to choose 2-putting. He'd assume you'd be able to hit the fairways. - 6 US Open champions missed the cut and Pomp believes this will be Phil Mickelson's last US Open. Bob would bet on Adam Scott to win the US Open.
Send us a textWhat happens when your approach to fatherhood is shaped by a determination to break generational patterns? Andre Mileti, Chief Revenue Officer at WorkBright and father of two boys, takes us on a deeply personal journey through his evolution as a dad.Growing up in an immigrant Italian household in Cleveland with an authoritarian father left Andre with what he calls "adaptive child wounds" that took decades to heal. Now, raising his golf-obsessed 10-year-old, Andrew, and hockey-loving 6-year-old, Matthew, he's consciously creating a different experience for his sons than the one he had.The conversation takes a powerful turn when Andre reveals his core philosophy: "Get over your own stuff." He admits spending the first half of his fatherhood still trying to meet his own emotional needs before realizing the true joy of parenting comes when you stop making it about yourself. This self-awareness, coupled with the courage to let his children experience failure, forms the foundation of his approach to raising resilient boys.Golf emerges as both a passion and a powerful teaching tool in the Mileti household. Andre shares the struggle of stepping back as a caddy for his son—fighting the urge to line up every putt and prevent every mistake. The pride in his voice is unmistakable when describing how his son refuses to take mulligans or gimmes, playing every hole with integrity. It's in these moments that the challenging work of breaking generational cycles bears its most meaningful fruit. For fathers wrestling with their own childhood wounds while trying to raise strong, ethical children, Andre's journey offers both compassion and practical wisdom. By fostering belief in our children's abilities while allowing them the space to fail and grow, we prepare them not just for sports but for life itself. Connect with Andre on LinkedIn to continue the conversation about breaking cycles and building character through thoughtful parenting. Please don't forget to leave us a review wherever you consume your podcasts! Please help us get more dads to listen weekly and become the ultimate leader of their homes!

Whether you're a longtime listener or a newcomer, this candid conversation is filled with laughter, shared aspirations, and a love for the game that keeps them coming back for more. On Thursday's Daily Puck Drop with Jason “Puck” Puckett he opens up recapping yesterday's show and interview with Corey Widman, who's son committed suicide, to discuss mental health during mental awareness month of May. Jim's boys and Reese Widman were going to play junior college baseball together. It was a very important and emotional interview and a must watch/listen if you are a parent. Puck welcomes Mike Garafolo from the NFL Network to the show. Mike is in the car post a golf range session where he has swore off his 4-iron. Once they get done talking about golf, Puck and Mike jump right into the Seahawks and the upcoming season and expectations of Sam Darnold. What version of Sam Darnold will the Seahawks get this season? Darnold is clearly the key cog for the success of the team this year. Speaking of quarterbacks, how will Caleb Williams deal with tough coaching from new coach Ben Johnson? Stefon Diggs is catching heat from new coach Mike Vrabel over a pink substance and Mike wraps up his appearance detailing a golfer headed into the range with four Twisted Teas. Back to baseball as Puck brings on Brad Adam of ROOT Sports to talk all things baseball. M's are back home after a good road trip and have split their first two games against the Nationals. George Kirby is back but in two starts he has not looked good. The Nationals continue to reap the benefits of the Juan Soto trade. Jorge Polanco has cooled way off. Is it regression or is he hurt? Julio is having a great May and it appears he's getting into summer form before his normal time. Brad promotes another upcoming edition of his new golf show, “Fairways and Fastballs.” Is it time for Cole Young to be brought up? Sure feels like Young is on his way soon. Puck wraps up the show with “Hey, What the Puck!?” It's time for Cole Young! (1:00) Puck recaps Corey Widman interview (9:45) Mike Garafolo, NFL Network (30:52) Brad Adam, ROOT Sports (1:00:19) “Hey, What the Puck!”
This week, Robby and Jonathan are joined by Brett Renner from the Nebraska PGA Section for a deep dive into the surprisingly vibrant world of Nebraska golf. You might think “flat and cold” when you hear Nebraska, but Brett's here to set the record straight—Nebraska is packed with hidden gems, offering everything from rugged sandhills retreats to challenging links-style public tracks like Landmand and Indian Creek.Brett shares his unconventional journey from broadcasting hopeful to full-time promoter of Nebraska golf, giving us a peek behind the scenes at how the game is exploding across the state—yes, even with that short Midwestern season. The trio swaps travel stories, discusses must-play courses for your Nebraska itinerary, and lets you in on why places like Prairie Club and Sand Hills continue to top bucket lists (even if they take a five-hour drive to reach). You'll hear about Brett's most memorable golf shots (and, okay, some not-so-glorious moments), the unique camaraderie and growth happening in Nebraska's junior golf scene, and why golf here is so much more than a game—it's about people, community, and unforgettable experiences. Whether you're chasing albatrosses or just love great golf stories, you won't want to miss this one. Grab your clubs—and maybe a breakfast sandwich—because you just might end up booking a trip to Nebraska after this episode!https://nebraskapga.com/https://www.instagram.com/nebgolf/BestBall Links:•https://BestBall.com•https://linktr.ee/BestBall•https://bestball.substack.com - Subscribe to Par 3 Thursdays!Friends of BestBall:•B. “Using electromagnetic induction to inform precision turfgrass management strategies in sand-capped golf course fairways” with Dr. Briana Wyatt and Dallas Williams Golf courses are well known for their beautiful greens, but overusing fertilizer and water to keep them looking pristine can lead to inefficient, expensive, and environmentally damaging waste. Precision turfgrass management can help, but only if we can find the right methods to put it into use. In this episode, Briana and Dallas join me to discuss their research on how electrical conductivity can be used to help determine golf course needs. Tune in to learn: · How many management zones might be in a fairway · How turfgrass type can effect electromagnetic induction correlations · Which properties are most correlated with electromagnetic induction readings · How researchers can get readings on large areas of a golf course fairway If you would like more information about this topic, this episode's paper is available here: https://doi.org/10.1002/agg2.70020 This paper is always freely available. Welcome to the "Saturday Morning Golf Stat" from the Hack it Out Golf Podcast. Your ball is in the fairway, 150 yards from the hole. Now, put the ball in the rough, but at a yardage at which, on average, you'd hole out in the same number of strokes that you would have from 150 in the fairway. Where are you dropping? In this episode, Lou asks Mark and Greg this question for golfers of various skill levels. As with the best SMS episodes: the answer surprises them, which means we're all going to learn something. Each of these will be a mini-episode (10-15 minutes long) about an interesting golf stat. We will discuss what you can learn, and most importantly, how you can apply this on the golf course to lower your scores and lower your handicap. Listen on your drive to the golf course or over your Saturday morning coffee! Data is sourced from Arccos Golf. They have over 1 BILLION shots in their database.
