Welcome to the "Saturday Morning Golf Stat" from the Hack it Out Golf Podcast. We know it's a bad to be short-sided. But there's one pin location that makes us blind to the danger. In this episode, Lou asks Mark and Greg how often low single-figure indexes miss the green from 120–130 yards when the pin is in the back of the green versus the front of the green. The difference is not trivial, and should be something you keep in mind next time you head to the course. Each of these will be a mini-episode (10-15 minutes long) about an interesting golf stat. We will discuss what you can learn, and most importantly, how you can apply this on the golf course to lower your scores and lower your handicap. Listen on your drive to the golf course or over your Saturday morning coffee! Data is sourced from Arccos Golf. They have over 1 BILLION shots in their database. In this episode, I sit down with mortgage industry veteran and coach Carrie Guarrero to trace a three-decade career built on service, community, and relentless growth. Carrie shares how an 11-year-old's flyer route in her mom's mortgage office became a billion-dollar origination career—and why the trophies eventually mattered less than the names and stories behind each loan. She opens up about a career “pause” that didn't go as planned, the humbling return that led her to Fairway, and how that detour became the on-ramp to launching Fairway Ignite, an internal coaching organization now serving 600+ teammates with 80 coaches. We also get into how Carrie is building a multigenerational legacy; handing portions of her book of business to her daughter and longtime partner, and what “effective coaching” really looks like inside a high-performance culture: individualized matches, data-driven accountability, and an always-on community. Beyond business, Carrie reflects on being an Army mom (and former Army spouse), holding pride and fear at the same time, and the leadership lessons that come from service, ambiguity, and letting go. She previews her forthcoming guided journal Discovering WISE: Women in Search of Excellence—a 52-week journey designed to help women define success on their own terms—and shares the daily non-negotiables that keep her grounded in faith, family, gratitude, sweat, and stillness.Discussion Highlights:How a “failed” pivot can become the exact path you need nextThe core ingredients of coaching that actually moves numbers (and people)Why legacy leadership means empowering others, even before you feel ready to let goNavigating male-dominated rooms without dimming your light or your voiceThe power of holding two truths (proud and scared) and leading through uncertaintyA simple morning framework: gratitude, sweat, and reflective thinkingLinks & Mentions:Connect with Carrie Guarrero: Instagram • LinkedIn Book: Discovering WISE: Women in Search of Excellence — 52-week guided journey - grab your copy here!If this conversation resonates, I'd love for you to subscribe, rate, and share.
Welcome to the "Saturday Morning Golf Stat" from the Hack it Out Golf Podcast. Today's episode: good golfers, simple shot. How often will a 5-index player get up and down from 75 yards in the fairway? At the other extreme, how often will it take him 4 or more shots to hole out? Lou puts this question to Mark and Greg, and the answer may well shock you as well. Learning to avoid the big numbers continues to be the theme of effective scoring. Each of these will be a mini-episode (10-15 minutes long) about an interesting golf stat. We will discuss what you can learn, and most importantly, how you can apply this on the golf course to lower your scores and lower your handicap. What do family, friends, and a missed putt have in common? For Dr. Al B. Quarles Jr., they're the foundation of Bucka Fogey Sports - a lifestyle brand born from friendship, golf, and a desire to look good while doing what you love. This week on Mission CTRL, Ramon and Jorge sit down with Dr. Quarles, Founder and CEO of Bucka Fogey, to explore how a single moment on the green turned into a growing apparel and manufacturing company that blends faith, fashion, and fun. From humble beginnings making shirts and hats for his golf trips with friends, to running full-scale events like the Bucka Fogey Family & Friends Trip, Mancation, and BFF Weekend, Dr. Quarles shares how passion and persistence turned a grassroots idea into a thriving brand. He opens up about the challenges of manufacturing high-quality gear, the importance of photography and branding in apparel, and how word-of-mouth and authentic community support helped Bucka Fogey grow - especially during COVID. The conversation dives into his design process, his innovation team (including ideas from his college-athlete daughter), and how staying true to his values helped the company evolve beyond just clothing to become a lifestyle movement. From creating limited-edition drops to expanding into women's apparel and strengthening ties with the Sifford family, Dr. Quarles proves that building a brand is far from “set it and forget it.” It's about learning from mistakes, celebrating wins, and keeping your vision aligned with your purpose. Whether you're a golf enthusiast, a creative entrepreneur, or just someone who loves a great origin story, this episode is packed with insights on growth, grit, and the grind behind great branding.

When the pandemic halted her event-based ventures, Jenn pivoted into a completely new field and stepped into her most challenging role yet—turning around an established company in the utilities industry. In this episode of Badass Women in Business, Jenn shares the truth about stepping into leadership after a founder exits, the challenges of transforming a team and culture, and how she's balancing the demands of running a company while preparing for motherhood. Her story is about taking bold chances, trusting your instincts, and leading with both compassion and conviction.Show Notes:Jenn Harris has never followed a straight path.
