Join Tamara for an interview with photographer Bailey Davidson, a Milledgeville native who lived in NYC as an aspiring actor for a few years, before returning to Georgia in the late 90s to pursue his MFA in Photography at SCAD. Since graduating, Bailey has built his freelance career in all aspects of professional commercial and editorial photography, working with a wide range of clients, including Savannah Music Festival, Wine Enthusiast Magazine, and The London Observer. This past spring he opened a studio in City Market - go visit him and his 20 years' worth of Savannah photos there! Check out Bailey's work and follow him here: https://www.facebook.com/BaileyDavidsonPhotography https://baileydavidson.com/ Topics in their chat include: Bailey's indie movie he acted in, called "Bringing Down Dejonga" (this was the ending title after all! I found out online. --Tamara); how while in NYC he started taking headshots for his fellow actors and gradually took more and more photos, getting into art shows, and drifting from acting to photography; how he first heard of SCAD because his parents happened to meet the Poetters on a cruise; his Flannery O'Connor tie-ins of having grown up in Milledgeville and then living in the garden apartment of her childhood home as his first Savannah apartment; his practice immediately post-grad of shooting weddings and family portraits, to support himself as he built up his clients for commercial and editorial shoots; his show at the JEA last year that was a continuation of his MFP thesis show, "Bailey's Acres," all Holga pinhole camera work; the nostalgia of taking photos with an analog/film camera and then being surprised by the images once you pick up your developed photos; his Storyboards website where he displays his series of photos that combine to tell a story, influenced by David Hockney and Robert Rauschenberg; his photography books "Seasons of Savannah," "Savannah Past and Present," and "Milledgeville Then and Now;" recently getting published in the fine art mag "Black & White Magazine;" and his advice to students and young photographers to just shoot shoot shoot as there's no substitute for practicing your craft. Tune in and get all the details!

CUZ I HAVE TO...when living your dream is the only option - with JULIE SLATER & JASON FRIDAY.
Hosts Julie Slater & Jason Friday chat with Tami Bahat. Born in Israel, Tami is a lens-based artist (aka "LENS CRAFTER"), whose passion lies in molding the beauty of humanity into something extraordinary. She strives to push the boundaries of her own imagination, as well as the viewer's, by creating bold works of art from striking perspectives. Creating staged tableaux, Tami explores the performative nature of portraiture in many of her photographs, influenced by Renaissance and Neoclassical conventions of still-life and chromatic symbolism. After moving to the west coast, Bahat turned her creative interests to photography and was recognized by the U.K. publication Nikon Owner Magazine. Soon after, the work appeared on the cover along with a feature story detailing her as an artist. Tami was a finalist for the Julia Margaret Cameron Award and received a Spotlight Award for Black & White Magazine. In 2014, her work was exhibited at Fotofever Paris. In 2016, Bahat was selected for Critical Mass Top 50 and she received an award from the San Diego Art Institute. Bahat's solo exhibitions include Building Bridges Art Exchange in Los Angeles, This is No Fantasy in Melbourne and the Catherine Edelman Gallery in Chicago. She also won a Young Masters Emerging Woman Art Prize from the Cynthia Corbett Gallery in London in 2019. Other venues and events that have featured her work include The Annenberg Space for Photography, The Griffin Museum of Photography, El Pueblo de Los Angeles Historical Monument, Palm Beach Modern + Contemporary, PULSE Miami, AAF Hong Kong, SCOPE NYC, and AIPAD. Tami currently lives and works in Los Angeles. We chat about her biggest inspiration (her father...how she got into photograph...working with wild animals...how connecting with people is her biggest passion...how we should all be helpers for others...soccer, chocolate, and more. Bucks County Bytes brings to you photographer Jeff Weiser and the story behind his love of photography and The Iron Triangle. I have always been in love with the camera and capturing the moments of places, people, and landscapes, and Jeff's images lure me to who is behind the camera and the stunning landscapes that he captures, but it the people's faces that fascinate me. A face has mystery, a story, as the eyes and expression are beyond what words can sometimes measure. Listen in as Jeff Weiser talks about who he is, how it started, and tells us about the Iron Triangle...a place I never knew existed until now. Let the story capture your imagination of what life is like in a place that New York tends to forget about. The Iron Triangle is also known as the Valley of Ashes from The Great Gatsby. The Iron Triangle is encompassed in acres of auto repair shops, salvage yards, and abandoned stolen cars that have been picked clean. This is the gray and dirty part of Queens that you drive through to get from Long Island to NYC. Jeff says that people in the photos that he captured enjoyed having their pictures taken and took the time to talk and tell him a bit about their lives. They know him as “the guy with the camera”. Jeff does make a point of returning and giving them copies of their photos. We definitely had a great talk on the podcast as I was intrigued by his ability to be in The Iron Triangle and capture these moments... The podcast cover is "Javier's Yard" and is currently featured in Black & White Magazine at the time of the interview. It also won in the photo contest "Looking Back Looking Forward" as it is a part of a series that Jeff has been working on for the past year, Faces of the Iron Triangle. When you go to Jeff Weiser's website you will also see "Man of Faith" that took a Gold Award in the Tokyo International Foto Awards this year. Make sure to connect with Jeff Weiser on all his social media links as well as view the website of his amazing images...Jeff Weiser PhotographyInstagram@jeffweiser52FacebookJeff WeiserBucks County BytesBucks County Bytes linksSupport the show (https://paypal.me/msexpresso?locale.x=en_US)

Click here for SBBP5 Show Notes as a .pdf file "SpotCast" - shorter, single topic excerpt from a full interview From an interview with Elizabeth Hamilton, Owner, Pookie Galore Designs Lauded as one of Houston's top artists of recycled materials. Her work has been displayed in Houston's City Hall and at many prominent green shows Tell us about your contributing a percentage of your net proceeds to charity - Primary reason: I believe we were put on planet to make the lives of others better. One way I can to that is by providing money to charities Secondary reason: Once I started telling people that I was giving 10% of my proceeds to the Blood Water Mission, my sales shot up. People see the tangible benefit of the purchase as well as the chance to change someone’s life. The Blood Water Mission www.bloodwatermission.com Build wells in Africa and provides HIV and AIDS medicine to those who need it $1 provides someone with a years worth of water. The majority of the money goes to the project and is not eaten up by administration. Do you have any thoughts about what other businesses should consider when looking to adopt a charity for their business? Choose something that makes sense for their business Stay away form charities that are too ‘out there’ or too controversial; you want it to be something that makes your customer feel good I learned that people enjoy the opportunity to be able to help other just by shopping. Not only do they achieve something nice for their home, wardrobe, business or nice gift for someone but also it makes them feel good to be helping others at the same time. Once I started displaying Blood Water Mission's marketing materials in my booth during exhibits and including, in my own marketing materials, that 10% of my net proceeds went to The Blood Water Mission, my sales shot up dramatically!
