The debate that was supposed to be a chance for Colorado voters to get answers on the big issues has turned out to be a total sham. Dan is calling out the moderators for their lack of tough questions, which left the audience with more questions than answers. This episode is a must-listen for anyone who wants to understand what really went down in that debate and why it's a disservice to the people of Colorado. Dan is not mincing words, calling the debate "the single most rigged debate we've ever seen in Colorado." They're pointing out the obvious lack of questions on issues that Democrats are most vulnerable on, like boys playing girls' sports, crime, and late-term abortion. Meanwhile, the moderators had time to ask about obscure vetos from the governor, but not about the pressing concerns of the people. It's a clear case of protecting the candidates and the party at the expense of the truth. Dan is not just criticizing the moderators, but also the Democratic Party as a whole. They're pointing out the party's obsession with abortion and how it's a bad issue for them. They're also highlighting the lack of questions on issues like homelessness, healthcare for illegal immigrants, and the state of Colorado's roads. It's a scathing critique of the party's priorities and their approach to the debate. If you want to understand what really went down in that debate and why it's a disservice to the people of Colorado, you need to listen to this episode. The speaker is calling out the powers that be and holding them accountable for their actions. Why Private Equity Accountability Is In Crisis - Jay Weiser's Expert Guide to Reform and Solutions

Welcome to TheInquisitor Podcast

Play Episode Listen Later May 25, 2026 50:54

In this episode, Jay Weiser joins the podcast to discuss the "accountability crisis" in Private Equity (PE). They explore a common, costly cycle: boards replacing CEOs or CROs when performance dips, only to realize later that the underlying system, not the individual leader, was the true constraint. Jay shares insights on how boards can move beyond "theatrics" and "polished dashboards" to identify fragile revenue, align incentives, and foster a culture of "brains-in" engagement. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Key Takeaways The Visibility Trap: Leaders are often replaced because they are the most visible element of a company; however, the invisible systems—how decisions are made, how information flows, and how incentives are aligned—are what truly dictate results. The High Cost of Churn: Repeatedly swapping out C-suite leaders leads to extended hold periods and significant loss of enterprise value Information Friction: By the time data reaches the board, it has often been polished, filtered, and aggregated to the point that critical signals of failure (like high churn or poor sales quality) are hidden Revenue Quality vs. Volume: Not all revenue is created equal. "Fragile revenue" from customers who are a poor fit for operations or customer success erodes multiples and makes exit stories harder to defend. The Power of Shared Ownership: Jay highlights the "Ownership Works" model, where creating a broad-based employee ownership pool can improve culture, reduce turnover, and increase exit multiples by as much as 1.5 times. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Actionable Questions for Boards & Leaders To move from "passive oversight" to "active insight," Jay and Marcus suggest asking these uncomfortable but necessary questions: Would this deal survive diligence? If a buyer knew exactly what was "under the hood" regarding customer satisfaction and operational hurdles, would they still buy? Is the customer actually using the product? Don't just look at sales volume; look at activation, adoption, and time-to-value. What did we learn this week that makes our plan less certain? Reward the people who raise risks early rather than those who try to "rescue" a failing deal at the last minute. Are we "prosecuting the person" or the "argument"? Ensure the culture allows for constructive challenge without individuals feeling attacked or silenced. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Leading Indicators to Watch Customer Activation/Adoption Rates: Are they sporadic or consistent Time to Value: How long does it take for a customer to report they received the value they intended? Incentive Alignment: Are salespeople paid for volume alone, or is compensation tied to customer duration and team success? The "So What" Test: Does the information in the board pack actually inform a decision, or is it just "history" you can't act on? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Featured Quotes "If you're swapping out the leader, but the system stays the same, you're going to get the results that the system allows to be produced." — Jay Weiser "Boards don't make bad decisions because they're stupid. They make bad decisions because confidence in the story outruns the evidence." — Marcus Cauchi -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Connect with Jay Weiser LinkedIn: Jay Weiser Email: jay@jayweiser.com Website: Uncover. Those years gave them the kind of confidence that only comes from solving real problems in unpredictable places. In this episode, Kevin and Tom share how their own paths led them into adventure travel. Tom's journey began with a fascination for Russian language and culture, eventually leading him to work at the Mongol Rally finish line in Russia. Kevin's route started with travel, wildlife photography, and a life-changing diagnosis that redirected how he pursued adventure. Together, their friendship, field experience, and shared values became the foundation for Nerpa Travel. This conversation explores what it means to build a company around meaningful adventure, not just checking places off a list. With the primaries just around the corner in June, Senator Michael Bennet and Attorney General Phil Weiser are hitting the gubernatorial campaign trail hard. This past weekend, the two leading Democratic candidates joined a forum — put on by Greater Denver Transit, the Denver Bicycle Lobby, and YIMBY Denver — to spar over their positions on everything from Peña Boulevard and rental assistance to allowing apartment buildings to ban dogs. Producer Paul Karolyi was there, and he sits down with host Bree Davies to discuss what he observed from Weiser and Bennet and how the housing and transit crowd reacted.  Paul mentioned this new Denver Post report that DIA officials have “broadened their approach” to their work addressing traffic congestion on Peña Boulevard and will now consider increasing public transit service. AI tech giant Palantir moved its HQ from Denver to Miami this week, notifying the world via a single tweet. Was this abrupt relocation in response to ongoing protests outside its Denver office or Colorado's first-in-the-nation AI bill or something else entirely? Political commentator Adrian Felix joins producer Paul Karolyi and host Bree Davies to dig into the controversial company's departure, plus the uncertain future of Leven Supply after being seized for unpaid taxes, and our wins and fails of the week. What do you think about Palantir leaving town? We want to hear from you! Text or leave us a voicemail with your name and neighborhood, and you might hear it on the show: 720-500-5418 Adrian talked about the proposal to legalize prostitution, which we discussed earlier this week on the pod. Bree discussed the hand painted sign stolen from Duke's Good Sandwiches and Burgers and the local sign painters who created it. Paul mentioned RTD moving forward with its renaming of Civic Center Station despite pushback, Chad McWhinney and Kimbal Musk in the Epstein Files, and the Poetic Kinetics art installation coming to downtown this summer.  For more on Scott Bottoms' allegation of a “pedophile ring” at the Capitol, Mandy Connell pressed him on it on KOA yesterday.  After we recorded this episode, we heard back from AG Phil Weiser's office about Palantir and CO's AI law. His spokesperson says that they have not had any conversations with Palantir and that Weiser's position on the AI law remains unchanged since the CU Denver Artificial Intelligence Symposium last fall, when he said his office was going to “hold off on any rule making process to implement the law until after the 2026 legislative session concludes and the General Assembly has an opportunity to make substantive changes to the AI law. This approach will allow us to create the initial rules from a place of more certainty and stability in the underlying law as well as enable us to best use and conserve our limited law enforcement resources.” For even more news from around the city, subscribe to our morning newsletter at denver.citycast.fm. This episode dives headfirst into what may be the most explosive judicial scandal in Colorado history. We break down the verified federal complaint filed by Christopher S.P. Gregory, a former senior leader inside Colorado's judicial discipline system, accusing the Colorado Supreme Court, Governor Jared Polis, Attorney General Phil Weiser, and dozens of judges, lawyers, and oversight officials of a years-long conspiracy to conceal corruption, obstruct a federally required audit, and silence whistleblowers. At the center: a $2.66–$2.75 million alleged fraud and bribe scheme tied to former SCAO Chief of Staff Mindy Masias and a cover-up that spans more than six years. We walk through the paper trail: the 2019 anonymous fraud complaint sent directly to the Justices, Polis, and Weiser; the deliberate withholding of the “Masias Memo” from the State Auditor; coordinated damage control after public exposure; admissions of misconduct by a former Chief Justice; expired statutes of limitation due to obstruction; and repeated allegations that judicial oversight bodies were stacked, compromised, and weaponized to protect insiders. This isn't just about one contract it's about systemic abuse of power, suppression of evidence, retaliation against a whistleblower, and alleged violations of federal civil rights law. Finally, we unpack the seven claims at the heart of the case: civil rights conspiracy, obstruction of justice, failure to prevent misconduct, retaliation under the Colorado False Claims Act, demands for extraordinary writs to dismantle conflicted oversight bodies, equitable relief to halt ongoing constitutional violations, and reimbursement of taxpayer-funded legal defenses for officials found personally liable. If these allegations are substantiated, the fallout could shake Colorado's judiciary, trigger federal scrutiny, and force a reckoning over who the rules really apply to.

On Monday, February 9, BigTentUSA convened Lauren Groh-Wargo, Founder and CEO of Fair Fight Action, and Wendy Weiser, VP for Democracy at The Brennan Center for Justice‬, to sound the alarm on escalating threats to the 2026 election. From the unprecedented seizure of Fulton County voting records to pushes for proof-of-citizenship laws and federal overreach, speakers warned of a coordinated effort to reshape election control and suppress participation. The Constitution remains a guardrail, and courts have begun pushing back against unlawful overreach—but institutional defenses alone won't hold. Protecting democracy now demands mass civic engagement: vote, become a poll worker, track ballots, organize locally, support election officials, and use every legal and advocacy tool available. The warning was stark but empowering—autocracy thrives on silence, so the moment calls for visible, relentless participation. Democracy will only survive if we show up, lock arms, and defend it.Want to do something tangible to help protect democracy? In this episode of Skin Anarchy, Dr. Ekta Yadav sits down with Dr. Jessica Weiser, board-certified dermatologist and founder of Weiser Skin MD, to shed light on one of the most overlooked yet vital parts of dermatology — the scalp. Often forgotten in the broader conversation about skin health, the scalp is one of the body's most complex ecosystems, driving everything from follicle vitality to inflammation control. “It's not just where your hair grows,” Dr. Weiser explains. “It's living, breathing skin with its own microbiome and metabolism.”Dr. Weiser takes us through the evolution of scalp science, from traditional PRP injections to the groundbreaking KeraFactor® system, a peptide- and growth-factor-based approach that precisely reactivates dormant follicles and promotes angiogenesis. She also dives into the power of red-light therapy, breaking down how dual-wavelength photobiomodulation reawakens cellular energy and circulation to fuel stronger, thicker hair.Beyond technology, Dr. Weiser emphasizes a holistic blueprint for hair longevity — addressing hormones, nutrition, stress, and scalp inflammation as interconnected variables rather than isolated issues. “The goal isn't overnight regrowth,” she says. “It's rebuilding the entire scalp ecosystem for long-term strength and balance.”This conversation reframes hair care as true skin science, not surface-level maintenance. ANGELA'S SYMPOSIUM 📖 Academic Study on Witchcraft, Paganism, esotericism, magick and the Occult

This video explores the fascinating figure of Paimon, one of the most prominent kings of the Goetia, tracing his journey from early modern demonological catalogues to his reinvention in contemporary occultism and popular culture. We will examine how his image shifts across grimoires, from Johann Weyer's Pseudomonarchia Daemonum to the Ars Goetia, and how his regal yet ambiguous traits became symbols of hidden wisdom, exotic authority, and intellectual mastery. The talk also considers Aleister Crowley's psychological reinterpretation, the adaptations within Left-Hand Path traditions, and the transformation of Paimon into a mentor-like figure in modern demonolatry. Finally, we look at his unexpected entry into mainstream media through Ari Aster's Hereditary and his reimagining in gaming and internet culture. Paimon's enduring appeal lies not in stability but in continual reinvention, making him a key case study in the dynamics of Western esotericism.CONNECT & SUPPORT

ANGELA'S SYMPOSIUM 📖 Academic Study on Witchcraft, Paganism, esotericism, magick and the Occult

In this video, I explore Aleister Crowley's The Vision and the Voice and why it remains one of the most powerful and unsettling texts in the Western esoteric tradition. I look at how the figure of Babalon emerges as both a theophany and a ritual of unmaking, and how this visionary work challenges our assumptions about magic, subjectivity, and divine encounter. I also trace the shifting image of Lilith, from biblical warning to occult icon, focusing on her reimagining in modern esotericism through figures like Kenneth Grant and the rise of feminist magical traditions. If you're interested in Thelema, mysticism, or the deeper currents behind the archetypes of the divine feminine, this lecture offers a chance to descend into the Aethyrs and return transformed.CONNECT & SUPPORT

I'm not sure what either of us really expected but I think we both left feeling like we'd learned more about Anton LaVey's personal peccadilloes that we did about Satanism. Katta and I discuss the sexism, context, and LaVey's general obsession with what now seems like very traditional ideas of what it means to be a woman. You can pick up a copy of Katta's latest book Love at the Rock Show wherever you buy books and find links to social media, events, etc on her website.Next month, Cassandra Snow will be joining me to discuss Rachel Pollack's Seventy-eight Degrees of Wisdom. The book has been in print since it was first released in two parts in 1980, so there are second hand copies galore as well as a newish release from Weiser with a new preface by Pollack. Digital and audiobook versions are also available, so check your local library too.WitchLit listeners receive 15% off their purchases at La Panthére Studio with the code WITCHLIT.Please support Black, Indigenous, queer, trans, and women-owned, local, independent bookstores and occult shops.Transcripts of all episodes are available at witchlitpod.com.
