A tough week to be a Boston College fan as the Eagles went down to Tallahassee and blew a late 4th quarter lead to the Seminoles. Eric and AJ talk about the decision to punt on 4th and 1, the play of Anthony Brown and whether EJ Perry would be an upgrade, and our concerns over the overuse of AJ Dillon.  We also talk about the state of the team, and whether the "Fire Daz" crew has legit merit. The hosts also talk about candidates that keep popping up, and whether a guy like Don Brown would really help this program.  Finally the talk to turns to the Orange. It's another big game for the Eagles on Saturday as they take on Syracuse at home. QB Eric Dungey is questionable for this game, and because of that BC is a 7.5 point favorite at home. After reviewing the past week, the hosts will look ahead to Jeff Brohm's Purdue football team. A quick look shows an 0-3 team, but just a bit of research shows that this team is much better than the wins/losses show. Is this a potential trap game for the Eagles, or will AJ Dillon and Company roll over what looks like a suspect defensive line. Also we will look at where BC matches up well against the Purdue Boilermakers, and where there could be problems.  It promises to be an action packed show!  Follow BC Interruption on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. For the first time since 2009, Boston College baseball made the NCAA Tournament. Earlier in the year, we talked with Mike Lananna of Baseball America about what it would take for the Eagles to become one of the 64 best teams in the nation. A few months later, we've found the answer to that question as Birdball heads to Oxford, MS to take on Tulane in the first round on Friday. From the word go, WZBC's TJ Hartnett's had a front row seat to the Birdball season. He sits down with our Dan Rubin, who's also been there from the beginning, to talk about the Eagles, breaking down their pitching, their offense, what makes them dangerous, and how they'll adapt to playing at Ole Miss. They also talk about the team's adaptation to the new media coverage and how this can lead to a new day of BC Birdball in the mainstream. The Eagles take on Tulane in the NCAA First Round, then face either the winner or loser of the Ole Miss-Utah game. It's heralded as one of the toughest regionals in the nation, but BC is very much a part of it!

Coming off the Steve Donahue era, the Boston College Eagles were a team last year in search of an identity. With old players shoehorned into a new system, the team endured growing pains en route to a four-win improvement over the season prior. Unfortunately, though, the end result was a 13-19 record, their fourth straight sub-.500 season. Year Two has a decidedly different feel to things after the team underwent an overhaul. Junior Olivier Hanlan departed for the professional ranks, drafted this past spring by the Utah Jazz. Now playing for Zalgiris Kaunas in Lithuania, Boston College will need to find a new go-to scorer to replace the ACC's best shooter a year ago. To start the year, it looks like Eli Carter will provide that spark. A transfer guard from Florida, Carter will be the lynchpin and sparkplug to the BC offense in 15-16. It's the biggest switch in the new-look Eagles, who return only a couple of key cogs from last year. Idy Diallo, injured a year ago, will see the court for the first time in maroon and gold, along with big man Johncarlos Reyes. Jerome Robinson and AJ Turner will provide depth, while Ervens Meznieks brings the European style of play, with its sharpshooting tall players. They'll combine with the returning Garland Owens and Dennis Clifford to give BC a new feel in 15-16. The Eagles will try to work their way up the ACC ranks this season after finishing in the bottom four a year ago, a league featuring last year's national champion in Duke. Combined with a tough non-conference schedule, this is going to be an intriguing run for Jim Christian as he tries to resurrect the proud program of Jared Dudley, Craig Smith, and Reggie Jackson. So tune in at 8 PM EST on Wednesday as BC Interruption breaks down and previews the Eagles and gets you ready for the opening game, this weekend, against St. Francis Brooklyn!

With football season winding down, the attention of many are already pointing their eyes at the frozen water of Conte Forum, where Boston College hockey begins its search for a sixth national championship. One month into the season, it's been eventful for the Eagles, having lost as many players as they have games (one apiece). At 5-1, Boston College is a top five team in the nation, riding the crest of being one of the power schools of Hockey East. Along with UMass-Lowell and defending national champion Providence, the trio represent the potential next batch of teams ready to represent in Tampa this year in the postseason. But it's still early, and there's going to be bumps along the way. One of those bumps came last week when Toronto Maple Leafs prospect Jeremy Bracco departed BC after just one month month as a member of the Eagles. It set off a firestorm of opinions on message board and social media, and it prompted possibly the most emotional response anyone's ever heard out of the Eagles and their head coach, Jerry York. So with football heading towards Senior Day on Saturday against NC State, we take a step aside to let things marinade. A few short weeks ago, Boston College was 3-1 on the season. The main questions about the team didn't center on if they would ever win again; it instead asked how the newer players would be brought along to score points and get the team on the move as competition leveled off after Florida State. Teams like Wake Forest and Duke were on the horizon, keeping expectations around what fans considered normal. Now sliding after a three-game losing streak, the Eagles are 3-4 with offensive points at a premium. They deconstructed and began reconstructing on the fly, with Jeff Smith named quarterback this past week. As players start to come back, the Eagles are improving, but the fear now is that the learning curve's gradient is too steep for them to consistently win football games. Boston College now heads to Louisville facing questions on if they can win a football game. They took strides forward against the Clemson Tigers and played better. There were definite improvements in the Eagle game. But even though they hung tough in the first half, Clemson was simply better, and they pulled away en route to a 34-17 victory. Dan and AJ will take a progress report of the Eagles and dissect the status of the different positions. They'll talk about the improvements made and the areas where there are still holes. They'll talk about how those need to get better and how they can actually fulfill that need. Tune in at 8 PM as they discuss this and get ready for the Louisville Cardinals. In a disappointing ACC season, everything is wide open, which means this is a chance for the Eagles to get back on the winning track. Things got dicey on Saturday as Boston College lost to the Wake Forest Demon Deacons, 3-0. It was a signature type loss, one that could haunt the Eagles unless changes are quickly made. One of those changes starts with the quarterback situation. After three weeks of a two-QB set, head coach Steve Addazio is set to name the next starting QB of his football team. Ever since the injury to Darius Wade, BC's been in search of an identity. As they get set to get some players back from injury in the coming weeks, Addazio's team will now start the process of discovering who they can be with a full-time QB. Dan and AJ get together to discuss the Wake Forest game and the merits of both quarterbacks. This has been a trying week so far, with opinions ranging from trust to anger around all things Eagles. For that reason, the guys will turn to Cam Underwood from State of the U to break down how they should be feeling. The Miami Hurricanes are in their fifth year under head coach Al Golden. After losing to Florida State on Saturday, the 3-0 Canes are suddenly 3-2 and reeling with back-to-back losses. Golden, the head coach of Temple prior to Steve Addazio, left Philadelphia for Miami and stewarded the team through its post-Nevin Shapiro era and sanctions. But five years into his regime, Canes fans are ready to drop Golden from The U and move in another direction. At year three of Addazio, there's much we can learn from Golden and then break down. After losing to Duke last weekend, it's back to the drawing board once more for Steve Addazio and the Boston College Eagles. Now at 3-2, they face a pivotal game when they take on the Wake Forest Demon Deacons at home on Saturday. Five games into the season, the Eagles are facing so many unanswered questions in the face of mounting injuries. The defense is playing out of its mind, but the offense seems stuck in neutral or, at times, in reverse. Much of the discussion revolves around the quarterback position. Troy Flutie and Jeff Smith now have two weeks' worth of game experience under their belt, and we still don't know who the full-time signal caller should be. One thing's for sure - we will see two quarterbacks on Saturday. In order to get into the mind of the coach and go through the progressions of the quarterback mind, we need to pick the brain of an actual quarterback. For that, we turn to one of the all-time Eagle greats - Brian St. Pierre. Brian St. Pierre was arguably the greatest high school quarterback in the state of Massachusetts. Matriculating to Boston College, he played as a redshirt freshman, rotating in as a sophomore, before becoming a starter in his junior year. Following his BC career, where he finished as a top five passer in school history, he was a fifth round choice of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Now the head coach of St. John's Prep High School, St. Pierre has the task of tutoring young minds to gear up for Friday Night Lights. In his second year as head coach at his alma mater, he's already led SJP to the Division I North Final and has the team poised to replicate last year's success with a 4-0 start and top five ranking in the state of Massachusetts. So tune in at 8 PM ET and give us a call at 646-200-0446 as we load up on quarterback talk and get ready for #TheRivalry on Saturday!

Boston College Football Week 5: Duke Blue Devils

The injury bug is turning into a parasite. One week after losing their quarterback for the season, the Boston College Eagles defeated the NIU Huskies, 17-14. Along the way, they lost their starting running back, another tight end, two other running backs. They improved to 3-1, but the survival attrition continued to take its toll. With this in mind, we're going to take to the airwaves to talk about the Eagles and try to dissect last week's game. What went right? What went wrong? What can be fixed? What needs to be gameplanned against? All of that is on the table. Dan and AJ will welcome two guests onto the broadcast this week - friend of the program and ACC insider Brittnee Taylor-Newman from Football.com joins them to discuss the game with the Blue Devils and the entire landscape of the league; and Joey Weaver from From The Rumble Seat dials in to talk about what to expect out of Duke. His Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, a preseason favorite to win the conference, are now unranked thanks to two straight defeats, the second of which came at the hands of David Cutcliffe's team last Saturday. Be sure to give us a call at 646-200-0446 to talk about the attrition, the roster, the coaches, and the games!

Well that was miserable. After a week of hype, Boston College fans received a gut check on Friday when the Eagles were shut out by Florida State, 14-0. While Florida State is a nationally ranked powerhouse, BC found themselves with plenty of opportunities, yet couldn't convert. By the time the game ended, they also found themselves with a couple of big time injuries as Kevin Kavalec and Darius Wade both went down. With a new week comes a new day and a new dawn, and for the BC Eagles, that means turning the page to a new opponent. On Saturday, the Eagles host the Northern Illinois Huskies at Alumni Stadium, the final game of a season-opening four game home stand. Tune in at 8 PM or call in at 646-200-0446 to talk some college football with us. We'll be breaking down the Eagles in all phases of the game, and with new perspective, you'll be able to weigh in with the direction where you think BC is headed for the rest of 2015.

After two weeks of FCS football at Boston College, it's time to get serious. On Friday, following a short week of practice, the Boston College Eagles will take on the two-time defending ACC champion Florida State Seminoles. It's a team needing virtually no introduction. The Seminoles won the national championship two years ago, went to the CFP in its inaugural season last season. Even without the names and faces from those two teams, this is a very competent and strong matchup, one where BC is surely the underdog. Gone are Jameis Winston, Nick O'Leary, and others, replaced by Everett Golson, Dalvin Cook, and more. Gone are Tyler Murphy, Josh Bordner and others, replaced by Darius Wade, Thadd Smith, and more. We'll have guests and your calls at 646-200-0446 as the Seminoles make their way north to take on BC in unfriendly territory. So tune in. This one's going to be explosive.

After playing the Maine Black Bears last week, the Boston College Eagles now turn the corner to take on their second opponent of the 2015 season - Howard. We get it. Nobody wants Howard on the schedule. There's nothing to be held against Howard, which is a great school with great people. But nobody wants this game. This is a game that just feels awkward, as if we're all watching some type of glorified scrimmage before the Eagles take on Florida State next week. But there's still the matter at hand. So join us as we break down last week's contest and take a look at the upcoming contest with the Bison. We'll look at the game as best as we can, and we'll balance your calls and opinions about having to play a second FCS team. So call us and tune in. This one could be deceptively explosive.

Two years ago, then-new Athletic Director Brad Bates sponsored a Town Hall style meeting discussing the state of Boston College football in addition to his overall athletic program. Selected season ticket holders were invited to the Yawkey Center to meet with Bates and members of his staff to voice opinions about the football program and the game day experience. Two years later, Bates will entertain a number of season ticket holders prior to the basketball season finale against Wake Forest. The actual purpose of the meeting wasn't addressed in the invitation, but he will have a meeting once again to go over the Boston College fan experience from his constituents. In the days leading up to this, we figured we'd take your pulse of the state of the programs and check back in with you! BCI Radio, after a period of dormancy over the last month or so, is BACK, and we're coming back with a big bang. So tune in on Tuesday at 8 PM and discuss the state of the Boston College athletics program. We'll have your calls at 646-200-0446.
