What are the best and brightest minds in enablement talking about these days? In this special episode, we're taking a pulse on the enablement industry and hearing directly from enablement professionals at Seismic's annual Shift conference — including leaders from Loopio, Sands Capital, Bank of America, UPS, Experian, Proofpoint, and more. Along with Seismic's Heather Cole and Steve Watt, they'll reflect on the topics they wish more go-to-market leaders were discussing, the innovations they're most excited about, and all things AI. Here are the key takeaways from this special edition of Go-to-Market Magic:Leverage AI to boost productivity: The prevailing opinion of AI at Shift 2023 was focused on how embracing AI today will help you automate mundane tasks, free up time for customer engagement, streamline workflows, and quickly and easily create both sales and enablement content.Lean on AI to improve faster: Productivity isn't the only thing that AI can help teams improve though. Now, teams don't have to guess at what's working, they can know. Now, it's possible for AI to give the entire go-to-market organization insight into what's happening during a sales call — and how they can better support reps with training, coaching, and content. Maximize LinkedIn for social selling: Some of the most successful social selling programs are being led by enablement teams — and a thoughtful social selling program augments your selling ability rather than limiting you to a short-term transactional perspective. In this episode, we dive deep into the evolving landscape of financial advising with Tyler Murphy. As the world of finance undergoes a significant transformation, Tyler sheds light on the new-age approach to financial guidance that prioritizes transparency and client interests over commissions. He contrasts this with the traditional methods that often come laden with conflicts of interest, potentially compromising the best interests of the clients they serve. Top 3 Takeaways: The New Age of Advising: Modern financial advising is moving away from commission-based incentives, focusing instead on transparent, conflict-free guidance that truly serves the client's best interests. Challenges of Tradition: Traditional financial advising, while established, often carries inherent conflicts of interest, which can sometimes overshadow genuine financial guidance. Trust in Transition: As the financial world evolves, building and maintaining trust becomes paramount. Tyler emphasizes the importance of advisors being transparent, educated, and aligned with their client's goals to foster this trust. I especially love Celtic rock and you have a special hour just on that with bands I’m mostly unfamiliar with! Ed Miller used to host a Celtic segment on Austin’s NPR station, but he NEVER played anything with bagpipes. I have a theory that Ed Miller doesn’t like the bagpipes. But you, Marc, you aren’t afraid of anything!" You're very welcome Robert. That's one of the many things I love about this podcast. The diversity. That is what truly makes America great. A few years ago, I published my CD How America Saved Irish Music (listen to show #169). The main part of the story is that the Irish diaspora preserved traditional Irish music, which made it's way back to Ireland. But the other aspect is that we are melting pot of different cultures. And all of those influences end up in contemporary Irish & Celtic music, whether you're talking about rock'n'roll, R&B, jazz, country, bluegrass, hip hop, electronica. And it's brilliant. The traditional culture is important but so are the changes that affect the music every day. Without it, I would be playing the same 12 bands over and over again. As for Ed Miller, I love that theory. And I have a few vague memories of him cracking jokes about bagpipes which may confirm your hypothesis. If you're like Ed Miller or just like Ed Miller's music, he has a radio program called Across the Pond. It comes out on Sundays from 6-8 PM on Sunradio in Austin. And I *think* you can listen to it online. The Irish & Celtic Music Podcast exists on the generosity of our Patrons of the Podcast. When the weather turns frigid or rainy, Wright State's extensive tunnel system is a popular destination for all students, faculty and staff. Because of these unforgiving elements, many students, staff and faculty are drawn to Wright State because of its tunnel system, a network of underground hallways and passages that act as a refuge from the harsh conditions above. Every day, thousands of people pour belowground, navigating their ways through the tunnels to their next class or meeting. And regardless of the weather, the tunnels are an especially convenient way for students with disabilities to navigate around campus. “It doesn’t matter if the weather isn’t so great outside, I can still travel in the tunnels and be OK,” Tyler Murphy said while traveling in the tunnels in his wheelchair. “I would’ve been stuck a lot more at another school.” With two miles of tunnels linking 20 of 23 buildings in the academic section of campus, the tunnel system has made Wright State one of the most accessible colleges in the country.
After two weeks of FCS football at Boston College, it's time to get serious. On Friday, following a short week of practice, the Boston College Eagles will take on the two-time defending ACC champion Florida State Seminoles. It's a team needing virtually no introduction. The Seminoles won the national championship two years ago, went to the CFP in its inaugural season last season. Even without the names and faces from those two teams, this is a very competent and strong matchup, one where BC is surely the underdog. Gone are Jameis Winston, Nick O'Leary, and others, replaced by Everett Golson, Dalvin Cook, and more. Gone are Tyler Murphy, Josh Bordner and others, replaced by Darius Wade, Thadd Smith, and more. We'll have guests and your calls at 646-200-0446 as the Seminoles make their way north to take on BC in unfriendly territory. So tune in. This one's going to be explosive.
Football season is over. Those four words might hurt enough to make you sad, but we're here to make things completely better. We'll relive the Syracuse game and analyze what happened, and we'll set things up for the bowl season. We'll look at where BC could land, what you can expect from potential bowl matchups. We'll look back at the season that was and relive as many moments as we can, from the reverse option to Sherm Alston to any one of Tyler Murphy's game breaking runs. Eric Hoffses joins AJ and New Guy to put the final stamp on the Boston College season, set up a potential bowl game, and move forward with talk of offseason training expectations at about 8:15. From there, we'll switch channels and move to the hardwood. BCI's newest new guy, Dan Doolan, sits down to talk Eagles hoops with the season kicking up under first year head coach Jim Christian. Following the Marist game, Dan will help us reset expectations and how the team's been playing. We'll take your calls at 646-200-0446, so be sure to call in and talk with us about all things Eagles!
It was close, but it wasn't meant to be. At 6-5, Boston College marches forward to its season finale. The Eagles will play their final home game of 2014 at Alumni Stadium on Saturday when they host the Syracuse Orange. It's the final time to see Tyler Murphy and the ultra-tough offensive line, and it'll come at a time when a win can mean a helluva lot. There's absolutely nothing the Eagles can leave on the table come Saturday because of bowl implications, and they'll have a great chance to match last year's 7-5 record when they take on the struggling Orange. We'll answer some of the tough questions surrounding this matchup - how does BC line up against a bad Syracuse team that seems to always play the home team tough? Will Scott Schafer destroy another podium? Is Otto a man, woman, or something kind of in the middle? We'll be joined by the guys from Troy Nunes Is An Absolute Magician to talk Orange Eagle Trophy and bowl implications. It's the last chance to talk BC football this regular season as well, so call in at 646-200-0446
Following a week layoff following the loss to Louisville, the Eagles are back for what might be their best and strongest opponent of the season - Florida State. Few teams need no introduction in the way FSU does. The Seminoles are the defending national champions, their star starting quarterback as controversial as he is talented, the defending Heisman Trophy. Their team, well coached, is among the best in the nation, and they're in the running for a shot at the national championship's inaugural College Football Playoff. On the other hand, there's much to talk about with regards to BC. Tyler Murphy will need to bounce back from his worst performance of the year, and the offense will need to get back to its basics. We're at the stage of the year where we know what we're looking for from the Eagles, and this gives us the chance to reset how it can work against a team like FSU. With Dan visiting the sunny Caribbean sun, AJ takes over the reigns of the BCI Radio Show. Give him a call and rub it in about how much better he does than Dan at 646-200-0446. Also be sure to razz whoever is grabbing the cohost chair or weigh in with thoughts shared from our guests.
And just like that, the Eagles were bowl eligible. At 6-3 with three games left to play, Boston College is heading to postseason play for the second straight year. The dark ages of the Frank Spaziani era are well in our rear view mirrors, and the good times are rolling thanks to Steve Addazio, Ryan Day, Don Brown, and a bunch of players we weren't sure of when the season started in August. On Saturday, Boston College looks to boost its postseason resume for potential bowl games when they take on the Louisville Cardinals. A first year entrant into the ACC, the basketball powerhouse is also a strong football program back under the direction of Bobby Petrino. The Cardinals are coming off a near miss against Florida State, and they head north for the programs' first meeting since 1998. There's much we don't know about Louisville, but there's also a lot on the table to discuss. BC got beat up a little bit by Virginia Tech, so health could be an issue. Jon Hilliman and Tyler Murphy both got dinged up with the former departing the game early for good. Potential bowl bids are now at stake. After sneaking into the Advocare V100 Bowl in Shreveport, LA last season with seven unlikely wins, BC is now on the verge of gaining a coveted "Tier Two" spot in a bowl such as the Pinstripe Bowl in New York City. Where else could the Eagles land? So much is there to discuss and you can do it with Dan and AJ starting at 8:00 PM EST. Join us and call in at 646-200-0446 to talk Eagles football!
Two weeks ago, the world was falling. A Boston College defeat left the team at 3-2 heading on the road out of Massachusetts for the first time this season. They were about to get back into ACC play against an NC State team, and the outlook was grim. But BC dominated on Saturday, taking a 30-14 victory over the Wolfpack to pull up to 4-2 on the season and within two victories of bowl eligibility. The Eagles controlled the clock, and Tyler Murphy ran for over 130 yards with a couple of long touchdown runs. The defense held NC State to under 250 yards overall, and they averaged 1.7 yards per rushing play. That was then, and this is now. We turn the page to Saturday with help from all of you for the next opponent - Clemson. We'll talk the Tigers and the young yet fierce rivalry, and we'll speak with people who know a Top 25 team best. Clemson is back into the top 25 at #24 this week, and they'll be coming up on Saturday with their troves of fans. So tune in at 8 PM and give us a call at 646-200-0446 to talk Tigers. Game day is right around the corner!
