The Texas Longhorns wasted no time in filling the hole left by Stan Drayton's move to the Temple Owls, filling his post as running backs coach with Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets star and coach Tashard Choice. Choice, known as an up-and-comer in the coaching industry, can hopefully fill the shoes left by Drayton both as a developer and recruiter. However, Texas has another hole to fill in its coaching staff as Steve Sarkisian is reportedly parting ways with wide receivers coach Andre Coleman, who's been on the Texas staff since 2019 when he joined as an analyst. Texas also lost depth in the quarterback room, as quarterback Casey Thompson decided to take his talents elsewhere following the addition of Quinn Ewers to the roster. We discuss his legacy as a Texas quarterback and what his impact was as Texas tries to transition to a new era of Longhorn football. Connect with the show on Twitter and Facebook. Temple vs. USF Pick Prediction 10/23/2021 by Tony T. Temple at USF—College football free pick is Temple Owls +2.5. USF has no wins against FBS opponents this year. Bulls defense is getting torched by allowing 502 yards with 227 rushing for 6 yards per attempt. Opponents passing for 275 yards on USF for 8 yards per pass attempt. Owls have a recent win to Memphis and beat an improved Akron team on the road by 21 points. They do defend better holding opponents to 351 yards and only 6.2 yards per pass attempt. USF quarterback Timmy McClain completing only 54.7% of his passes for an offense that converts only 29.4% on third down. Play Temple +2.5.
Memphis vs. Temple Pick Prediction 10/2/2021 by Tony T. Memphis at Temple—College football free pick is Temple Owls +11.5. Tough to lay points on the road with a Memphis team that is giving up 462 yards per game and 50 points to Arkansas St on the road. Tigers pass defense is allowing 348 yards, 66% completion rate and 7.1 yards per pass attempt. Temple had struggles against defensive style teams in Boston College and Rutgers. Owls have covered six straight against the Tigers including the past three seasons where they generated enough offense to cover against bad Memphis defensive teams. Owls quarterback D'Wan Mathis returned last week and completed 69% against FCS Wagner last week with 9.1 yards per pass attempt. Play Temple +11.5.

Boston College faces off against the Temple Owls on Saturday, a game that can be found at noon on ESPNU. The Owls who sit at 1-1, have some interesting pieces on offense that could pose a problem for the Eagles. We look at their two headed monster at quarterback, and talk about how they could challenge Jeff Hafley, and also the weapons they bring as well. Heading into this game Boston College has a pretty lengthy list of injuries. Phil Jurkovec is obviously out, as is Aaron Boumerhi, but what about Marcus Valdez and Jaelen Gill? We look at their injuries and talk about whether BC should rest them to prepare for the meat of the season. Finally, we look at the NCAA's new rule that is expected to pass around scholarship limits. With numbers going up to 32, will Boston College take advantage of this? We talk about why this may not happen. Listen below! Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors! Temple vs. Akron Pick Prediction 9/11/2021 by Tony T. Temple vs. Akron—Free pick is Temple Owls -7. Temple has seen some struggles but haven't fallen to the level of Akron. They do have experience on offense with four starters from the offensive line returning. They have faced the tougher opponents in the AAC. Akron faced Auburn in their opener losing 60-10 gaining 210 yards. They have now lost 23 of their past 24 games. Their offense produced only 17.2 points per game in 2020 with 261 yards facing all MAC schools. Play Temple -7.
The title says it all, Rutgers comes out and absolutely dominates the Temple Owls 61-14. We break down the good, bad and ugly from the game. Is Rutgers that good or is Temple that bad? Favorite moments from the game. Greg Schiano is our savior. We are glowing and we love college football! We end by spending a few minutes on the Yanks, Mets and Phils because they are still playing baseball (barely). Today, we discuss the college football history of the Temple Owls. In the 20th century, this program had its share near greatness. One coach who transformed the program from losing seasons to winning seasons, one legendary coach, one coach who ended a long bowl drought, one coach who in consecutive seasons propelled the program into the Top 20 in the final AP Poll, one goal line stand to secure one of the greatest upsets in college football history, one offensive explosion, one Instant Classic, six stellar teams, one team that ended a long bowl drought, one record setting Hall of Fame running back, one rival from yesteryear, one confusing 4-game stretch and of course, one green horned owl. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/jay-abramson/support

On Tuesday, 8 people were killed in an anti-Asian, misogynist attack on three spas in Atlanta. Six of the eight people killed were Asian women. The killer was arrested. Cherokee County Sheriff’s Officer Capt. Jay Baker held a news conference on Wednesday and said that the shooter had a “sex addiction” and was just “having a bad day.” It was later revealed that Capt. Baker had been pushing anti-Asian t-shirts with the slogan: “COVID-19 imported virus from CHY-NA.” Philadelphia Councilmember Helen Gym called the shootings “the latest escalation in the nation’s history of systemic racism and violence against Asian immigrants, fostered by a culture of white supremacy and misogyny that has long devalued the lives of immigrants, Black women, and women of color.” See Helen Gym’s Twitter thread on history of AAPI organizing in Philly. Proud Boys leaders in four states were arrested this week. One of the four leaders arrested was Philadelphia native Zach Rehl. Rehl became a figurehead in the organization over the last three years. He was photographed at the insurrection leading the Proud Boys to the capitol and smoking a cigarette inside Senator Merkley’s office while wearing a Temple Owls schoolbag the whole time. This comes on the heels of a report of how federal, state and local agencies ignored the Proud Boys over the last four years while they were committing acts of political violence at Trump events and far right rallies. Deb Haaland was confirmed as the first Native American cabinet secretary. Haaland will lead the Department of the Interior - the department with a long and strained history with indigenous communities. The agency manages over 500 million acres of public land, much of it stolen from indigenous people. The agency also houses the Bureau of Indian Affairs. The filibuster appears to be on life-support as President Biden and key Democratic senators come out in reforming it. This prompted Mitch McConnell to throw a temper tantrum on the Senate Floor where he promised to go “scorched Earth,” and Democrats responded by saying that McConnell already went “scorched Earth.” Spain may become the first country to move to a four-day workweek. That follows the launch of a pilot project for companies in the country interested in the concept. Spain has a long history of leading on shorter working hours. Following a 44 day strike in Barcelona in 1919, for example, Spain became one of the first countries in Europe to move to an eight-hour day. As reported in the Guardian, “From New Zealand to Germany, the idea has been steadily gaining ground globally. Hailed by its proponents as a means to increase productivity, improve the mental health of workers and fight climate change, the proposal has taken on new significance as the pandemic sharpens issues around wellbeing, burnout and work-life balance.” The pilot program will see a reduction of working hours with no loss of salary or jobs. This won’t come as a surprise, but the Guardian reports that “The oil industry knew at least 50 years ago that air pollution from burning fossil fuels posed serious risks to human health, only to spend decades aggressively lobbying against clean air regulations.” Their report is based upon a pile of internal document obtained by the Guardian, including internal memos and reports. The CDC is exploring whether 3 feet of social distancing - instead of 6 feet - is safe for schools. The distancing guidelines are a key part of determining the most effective way to reopen schools while keeping students, faculty, staff, and the community safe. 21 states with Republican Attorneys General are suing the Biden administration for putting the kibosh on the Keystone XL pipelines. Moderna begins to study the safety and effectiveness of its vaccine for kids between the age of 6 months to 12 years old. The study will enroll about 6.750 children in the U.S. and Canada. Graduate Student Workers at Columbia University are on strike after failing to achieve their first contract after over two years of negotiations with the administration. Bucks County Assistant District Attorney Matt Weintraub was caught moonlighting as a Door Dash driver while working out of the District Attorney’s office. The Bucks County District Attorney only demoted from his position while the DA called it “an incredibly poor decision.” The Pennsylvania Capitol is scheduled to reopen to the public this Monday. It will be open to the public for the first time since the fall. Guests must wear masks unless you are Republican legislators who still don’t believe in the pandemic. The Commonwealth Foundation went in front of the House Commerce Committee last week and defended their positions on why there shouldn’t be a minimum wage. Representative’s Malcolm Kenyatta and John Galloway shut that nonsense down and forced the Commonwealth Foundation’s representative to explain that they support a zero dollar minimum wage. Two men were arrested this week for taking part in the assault on Capitol Police Officer Brian Sicknick during the January 6 insurrection. Sicknick later died from his injuries. And, once again, a Pennsylvanian was one of those arrested. Julian Khater, a 32 year old many from State College, was seen spraying bear spray directly into the face of Officer Sicknick during the assault. Yes, of course, Sen. Pat Toomey blocked a bill that would have prevented debt collectors from taking stimulus checks. When asked why he voted for the bill he blamed Democrats for not including it in the original bill and compromised with Republicans to pass a bill with 60 votes. He defended debt collectors and said it’s too late anyway as 90 million checks have already been sent to Americans. Way to stick up for working families. At the State Senate budget hearings yesterday, PASSHE Chancellor Dan Greenstein issued a threat. If his plans for reorganizing the 14 state-owned university system are not followed - including the mergers of three universities in the Northeast and three universities in the West - he told lawmakers: “I will be recommending to the board that we come back to the Senate next year with a legislative package to dissolve the state system.” Senator Joe Pittman of Indiana County, the home of IUP, said he would be happy to introduce the legislation. APSCUF President Jamie Martin said she was flooded with texts and emails from faculty who were watching the hearings. “It was reckless, at the very least it was reckless,” Martin told PennLive. The Villanova Wildcats won their fifth-straight outright Big 5 title and their 26th overall. The Wildcats had a wire-to-wire finish at the Liacouras Center, which Jalen Brunson offered a great petition for a name change to 'the Brunson Center'--after another career performance at the Temple Owls' arena. He wasn't the only one cooking on offense, as Omari Spellman had his best game of the season. Eric Paschall added the exclamation point with an alley-oop posterizer and all is well for Villanova heading into a nine-day break. The Mississippi State Bulldogs lost, which means Villanova and the Florida State Seminoles are the only programs with undefeated men's and women's basketball teams. The last time Fordham beat Villanova, Warren G. Harding was the president of the United States. The Rams snapped a 93 year losing streak to the Wildcats with an emotional 27-24 win over the eighth best team in the FCS. The win is hands down the biggest during the short two year tenure of head coach Joe Moorehead and more importantly keeps the Maroon and White undefeated at 2-0. On the One on One post game report, I talked with the game’s announcers Mike Watts and Nick Logerfo about the keys to success for the home team. Both the guys highlighted quarterback Michael Nebrich’s performance as the redshirt sophomore run for two touchdowns and threw for 190 yards. Our sideline reporter Matt Moro caught up with a joyous Coach Moorehead after the game as he was extremely proud of his squad. Despite Fordham losing starting linebacker Jake Rodriguez to injury, the Rams defense allowed just three points in the second half. Fordham’s focus now shifts to Philadelphia as the Rams head to the City of Brotherly Love on Saturday to take on the 0-2 Temple Owls. After falling to FBS opponent Cincinnati last year in Ohio, the Maroon and White now knows what to expect when it comes to playing a big time atmosphere. Listen below to our One on One Post Game Report featuring an interview with head coach Joe Moorehead.

He talked about the game and visiting Tigers Woods restaurant in the area. Of course we had to talk Miss Universe and the Steve Harvey fiasco. CSN Philly TV anchor John Clarke also stopped by to address Luigi Curto's tennis challenge and after some friendly jabs, agreed to set up a charity tennis match in 2016. John also discussed the abysmal 1-and-30 Sixers team which keeps breaking its own records for futility. the 1972-73 team has the worst record ever at 9-and-93, but we all now wonder if this current crew will even win 8 games. We started our singing competition with John singing Holly Jolly Christmas and from there is all went off the rails as both our staff and contestants tried to get the contest back on track.Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/tony-bruno-show/donations
