The Democracy Now! Video podcast is a fantastic source of independent journalism that covers a wide range of important topics. The show, hosted by Amy Goodman, features informative interviews with knowledgeable guests and provides in-depth analysis of current events. The team behind Democracy Now works hard to bring viewers valuable and impressive content.
One of the best aspects of the podcast is its dedication to covering topics that are often overlooked or ignored by mainstream media. Democracy Now consistently highlights issues related to democracy, human rights, social justice, and corporate influence. The show provides a platform for voices that are marginalized or silenced in traditional media outlets.
Another great aspect of the podcast is its commitment to presenting balanced perspectives. While the show leans towards liberal and progressive viewpoints, it does not shy away from discussing problems within both the Republican and Democratic parties. Listeners can expect nuanced discussions that provide a comprehensive understanding of complex issues.
However, one potential downside of the podcast is that it can be overwhelming for some listeners due to the dire nature of the topics covered. Democracy Now often exposes threats against those fighting for democracy and shines a light on injustices in society. This relentless focus on negative events can be emotionally draining for some individuals.
In conclusion, The Democracy Now! Video podcast is an essential source of reliable news and analysis. Despite its occasionally heavy subject matter, the show's dedication to independent journalism sets it apart from many other news sources. Amy Goodman and her team have created a platform that consistently delivers accurate information and promotes critical thinking. I highly recommend this podcast to anyone seeking dependable news sources in today's media landscape.

We are continuing our conversation with Agnès Callamard, the Secretary General Amnesty International. On Sunday, tens of thousands of women around the world marked International Women's Day by demonstrating against gender-based violence and calling for an end to the U.S.-Israeli war on Iran. And today marks the opening of a major United Nations summit–the 70th session of the Commission on the Status of Women. This all comes a week after Iraqi human rights defender and feminist advocate Yanar Mohammed was assassinated in Baghdad. She was killed in an attack on her home.

Part 2 of interview with economist Michael Hudson about the global impacts of the U.S.-Israeli war on Iran. Hudson's latest article is “The US/Israeli Attack Was to Prevent Peace Not Advance It.”

“Mr Nobody Against Putin” is an Oscar-nominated documentary that tells the story of Pavel “Pasha” Talankin, a primary school teacher and videographer who becomes an international whistleblower. After being reluctantly drawn into Putin's propaganda machine, he starts documenting how ordinary Russians are indoctrinated with pro-war messages and recruited for the war.

Geeta Gandebhir has made history as the first woman to receive Academy Award nominations for both Best Documentary Feature (for “The Perfect Neighbor”) and Best Documentary Short (“The Devil is Busy”) in the same year. “The Perfect Neighbor” looks at the case of a 35-year-old Black mother of four, who was fatally shot in 2023 by her white neighbor. “The Devil is Busy” chronicles a day on the frontlines in the battle for reproductive rights at a women's healthcare clinic in Atlanta, Georgia.

“The Secret Agent” is one of the most celebrated international films of the year. It has been nominated for four Oscars, including Best Picture and Best Actor. The film stars Wagner Moura and is set in Brazil in 1977, during the final years of the military dictatorship. We speak with the film's director and screenwriter, Kleber Mendonça Filho.

The U.S. and Israel have launched an unprovoked attack on Iran striking sites across the country including the compound of Iran's Supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Iranian state media reports one Israeli strike hit an elementary girls' school in Minab killing at least 85 people including scores of children. Iran responded by launching attacks across the Middle East targeting Israel and U.S. military installations in the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain and Jordan.
