The rise of such proponents of black nationalism and black power as Malcolm X and Stokely Carmichael was seated in deep frustration with the inability to change the fundamental economic conditions of blacks even with the passing of political protections to the vote and legal protections against discrimination. Moreover, there was deep seated opposition to police brutality which resulted in the creation of the Black Panther Party. Along with the rise of Black electoral politics which expressed many of the demands of previous black organization agendas like that of the Marcus's Garvey's UNIA, W.E.B. Du Bois's Niagara Movement, and the Black Panthers 10 point program, the rise of these black nationalist ideologues, cultural nationalism, and black power did not just contribute to creative movements of the future they also sought to regain political ownership of their community. However, even if many agreed on the need for a grassroots approach as a means of forcing political, legal, and economic change, black moderates such as Bayard Rustin felt black nationalism detracted from a unified and strategic effort to overcome inequities and inequality in America. The main nonviolent Civil Disobedience strategists insist that their approach in hindsight led to meaningful change especially as evidenced by the movements to desegregate Alabama in Selma, Montgomery, and Birmingham. Dr. King became much more radical after 1966 sympathizing with Democratic Socialism and a radical proposition called the revolution of values to overcome the evils of racism, militarisms, and racism. This shift in outlook was in many ways inspired by Malcolm X approbation towards capitalist exploitation of black communities. There was also a rise in black electoral politics seeking independent black politics that was person centered and sought to develop political consciousness to overcome the failure of an entrenched system of institutional racism and barriers to political and economic equality. The Marxist theorist Henry Winston was one of the first people to combine a critique of capitalist inequality undermining race relations with imperialist oppression in such places as South Africa. Like the many organizations and conferences of this periods there were not just strong criticisms of systemic racism, capitalism, and a call for essential rights like health, education, housing, and a decent paying job, there were movements towards a more revolutionary politics seated in the development of class consciousness. What would be witnessed in future periods 1975 to present is a rise in rainbow coalition movements under leaders like Jesse Jackson and Harold Washington paralleling the rise of a black bourgeoisie which would speak to many of the fundamental concerns of the African American community. However, impeccable orators like Louis Farrakhan, though not involved politically, would resonate with the masses due to his fundamental examination of race relations; rhetoric that would mirror that of many past leaders like Malcolm X. There would be an effort to create a social contract that would eventually manifest with the rise of President Barack Obama to the presidency in 2008; a man who would speak to the need for liberal progress, aspirational hope in a changing America, and a rhetoric which would transcend partisan bickering and racial animosity. He would not only lead America out of the worst recession since the Great Depression while speaking to the dangers of inequities in power politically and economically, but he would also provide an ambitious agenda that managed to lead America through an era of great technological advancement while also providing reassurance to the American people that their basic needs would be endorsed and enhanced by governmental support.Next: Contemporary era- 1975 to the Present Part 1 and Part 2

The host of “Deep Dives With Monica Perez” reintroduces us to the fascinating true story of the British Deep State's plan to subvert America from within through covert means in order to bring it back under the control of the Crown. How does the Milner-Fabian conspiracy fit into the plan for remaking America, and have people been fooled by the Fabian Society once again into supporting “Democratic Socialism” in the United States? It seems as if part of their master plan is working because America is certainly being destroyed from the inside through subversive culture, economic warfare, and social media. S4 E25 | Three Counterpunches to Socialism with Helen Raleigh and Paul Prentice

Counterweight

Play Episode Listen Later Aug 30, 2024 69:20

Writer and activist Helen Raleigh has paired up with Professor and economist Paul Prentice to provide “three counterpunches” to socialism. The first counterpunch is about defining our terms. What is Democratic Socialism? According to Helen and Paul, it is a oxymoronic term we simply made up to “soften” socialism. However, when they ask others what it means the typical response is sharing and caring, versus capitalism that is equated with greed. Through political, economic and personal examples, they show how government sharing, much like Democratic Socialism, is just another oxymoron. Following along with these ideas, their second counterpunch looks at the popular fallacy that many Nordic countries are thriving Democratic Socialist regimes. They are market capitalist countries with a heavy welfare system. The Nordic countries themselves use the term Social Democrat, which is a nuanced, but widely divergent term from Democratic Socialism. In their third counterpunch, they try to change the messaging around capitalism to highlight its more compassionate attributes. Through both personal stories of Helen's life in China and Paul's incisive economic perspective, when put side-by-side, “compassion” is more the domain of capitalist systems. In order to see this more clearly we have to disassociate true capitalism from other forms of capitalism, e.g., “crony capitalism” (another oxymoron), which is really just fascism in disguise. In the end, they conclude that the most important question is not one of partisan politics (e.g., left vs right), but one of human nature and which system fosters the “better angels” of our humanity. Sometimes a logo tells you everything you need to know about an organization, and when it comes to the Fabian Society they clearly let the people know that they have hostile intentions in disguise, and intend to move slowly to achieve their goals. Formed as an organization to publicly push “Democratic Socialism”, their true intentions were much more devious and included an organized blueprint for a one-world government financed by some of the most Imperialistic ruling families of the time and organized by the so-called great thinkers of their era. This isn't some long-forgotten group that lives on in folklore, it is actually been rebranded as the British Labour Party and Democratic Socialists of America, led by the feeble-minded AOC. Returning to the New Books Network is Doug Greene, here to discuss his book The New Reformism and the Revival of Karl Kautsky (Routledge, 2024). Split into three main parts, the book first surveys Kautsky's own life and thought, starting with his early interest in socialist politics and turn towards Marxism, followed by a slow but steady turn away from revolution and towards reform, believing parliamentary procedures were the best road to social transformation. The second part looks at the works of Rosa Luxemburg, Vladimir Lenin and Leon Trotsky, all of whom offer critical responses to Kautsky's reformism, and the reassertion of the importance of revolutionary thought to any Marxist project. The third and final part looks at the contemporary works of Lars Lih, Eric Blanc and Mike Macnair and their attempts to make Kautsky's reformist practice the central pillar of the contemporary left. Throughout, Greene argues that the real lesson Kautsky offers is the dead-end of reformism to any revolutionary project. How does the past live on within our experience of the present? And how does our decision to speak about or write down our recollections of how things were change our understanding of those memories--how does it change us in the present? Asking those questions back in 2019 brought RTB into the company of memory-obsessed writers like Virginia Woolf and Marcel Proust. Discussing autofiction by Rachel Cusk, Sheila Heti and Karl Ove Knausgaard, John and Elizabeth begin to understand that the line between real-life fact, memory, and fiction is not quite as sharp as we had thought. Joining Recall This Book for this conversation is philosopher Helena De Bres, author of influential articles including “The Many, not the Few: Pluralism about Global Distributive Justice”, “Justice in Transnational Governance”, “What's Special About the State?” “Local Food: The Moral Case” and most recently "Narrative and Meaning in Life". (Her website contains links to her many fine articles for fellow philosophers and for the general public). She has recently begun to work on moral philosophy, especially the question of what makes a life meaningful, and on philosophy of art. John ranks his favorite anthropologists, while Elizabeth wonders whether autofiction necessarily takes on the affect of an academic department meeting--and what that affect has to do with Kazuo Ishiguro. “What is Humanism? Humanism is a highly effective approach to human development. It is as concerned with personal development as it is with social responsibility. It is probably the most humane and holistic approach to ethical philosophy humanity has ever devised. One way to think of Humanism is that it is the practice of putting your reason and compassion into action. Humanist values are common human values. These are values humans all over the world share. People of every faith background and no faith background, generally agree that these values are important. This is what makes Humanism such a powerful approach to thinking about values in the workplace. It's a values based approach that is accessible to everyone. This value wheel from the American Humanist Association lists 10 Humanist commitments. These are commitments we make to ourselves as we try to live responsibly by our values. Empathy Critical Thinking Ethical Development Peace and Social Justice Service and Participation Altruism Humility Environmentalism Global Awareness Responsibility.” -Humanist Learning Systems. "I am a human rights for all, equal rights for all, equity for all, civil and political rights for all, and economic, social, and cultural rights for all, judge by the content of character, live and let live, and do no harm kind of principle individual." -Antonio Myers. “ I think houses of worship should be taxed to be fair to secularists, no “In God We Trust” on currency because forcing theism on everyone is theocracy, no “In God We Trust” on everyone's vehicles because not everyone is Christian, I think that everyone who is of faith (Christian and non-Christian religions should be equally protected), I think secularists should be equally protected, I don't think creationism should be forced on the youth in secular schools, I don't think that religious symbols should be on secular property, I don't think any kind of theology should be forced on kids in school, and I don't think that chaplains should be forced in secular schools.” -Antonio Myers. "I value empowerment of the individual to solve problems. I value the need for the government to solve problems. I value the role of government which should be to provide people the freedom necessary to pursue their own goals. I value the role of the government which should be to guarantee that no one is in need. I value the role of individuals which should be to guarantee that no one is in need. I value personal responsibility, individual liberty, strong national security, just right government (not too much government and not too little government), economic justice system markets, The Golden Rule, Silver Rule, and The Platinum Rule. I oppose corporate welfare and the military industrial complex. I like the Nordic Model, Democratic Socialism, and social democracy. I value the duty of the government to alleviate social ills and to protect civil liberties and individual and human rights. I value the duty of individuals to alleviate social ills, and for individuals to protect civil liberties and individuals and human rights. I value government action to achieve equal opportunity and equality for all. I value individual action to achieve equal opportunity and equality for all. I feel that there should be social justice-centered regulations on corporate governance. There should be a billionaire tax on billionaires. I am a Left-wing Progressive, Democrat, Liberal, and Green Party person. I value progressive liberal theology (no tribalism and no elitism); I reject traditional conservative theology (biblical orthodoxy.) For example, Jesus is of moral universalism and universal value. I am unconventional, unorthodox, maverick, nonconformist, and non-traditional. I am free-spirited, free-thinking, free-living, and free-loving. I also do have some Libertanism tendencies because I really do uphold liberty as a core value. I uphold freedom of choice, autonomy, and political freedom." In this remarkable broadcast, Michael Savage, known to millions of listeners over his 27-year radio career, delivers a fiery warning against the dangers of communism. Savage explains how progressives are decimating America and have abandoned the facts. Why is the Left targeting Elon Musk? Why Lenin's Pope is not a spiritual leader. We are living through Leninism with a tinge of Maoism. America is no longer a free market. Biden is ravaging the American economy and future prosperity. Why the rhetoric from the Left has become so dangerous as people have become alliterate. There is no such thing as Democratic Socialism. If Rabbi Mendel Futerfas and others survived the Gulag, we can and will survive the Biden Regime. He shares that the Orthodox community called him "a bridge between God and man." Well known for his stream of consciousness, Savage peppers his conversation with personal anecdotes, thoughts on the Thanksgiving holiday, and more! The previous video, Star Trek into Socialism, is not necessary for appreciating this one, but the two inform each other: https://youtu.be/LJKDF0BwepI Also mentioned in this video: * Loki and How Conservatives Become Fascists: https://youtu.be/kBfTYUadGts * How the Hippies Became Yuppies: The Trial of the Chicago 7: https://youtu.be/LONtgVNaa7A?si=DvWznzsFnMZyYHR2 Not by me: Using Corporate Governance to Understand Socialism: https://youtu.be/MmeIGcI60oc Text of the episode and other ways in which you can access it at https://literatemachine.com/2023/11/16/how-will-capitalism-end-the-orville-eduard-bernstein-and-what-is-to-be-done/ Excerpts of deleted material on the Patreon at https://patron.com/ericrosenfield, which you can get access to for as little as $1 an episode, and also get exclusive author's notes, draft excerpts, and early access to episodes. There's also a whole thing I wanted to get into here about the role of identity politics in all this, but it was too complicated and too much of a digression from the main point, so I'll probably talk about it there. The truth about Christian Nationalism, is that it is a Psychological Operation, similar to one that our own US Government crafted in the post-WW2 era, when corporatism fueled a new brand of American Christianity that fused Faith and Government NOT to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ, but rather to recruit young impressionable minds into joining the military and defend western civilization against communism! In the 75 years since these programs were installed, the culture has shifted much more secular with the rise of a nebulous Scientific Dictatorship and Technocracy influencing DC. Now, already over a fifth of the way through the 21st Century, a new mobilization effort has been under way. A manufactured civil war between those who are willing to die to defend the mythologized Christian America born in the post-WW2/Cold War era, against those willing to die for occult mythologies expressed as abominable progressive politics like Climate Change, Trans-Rights, and Democratic Socialism. Even worse, it appears those in control would like to eradicate the belief in Christianity by labelling the topic of Christian Nationalism as a Mental Health issue! This will lead to a western version of “re-education camps” but through “spiritual” experiences facilitated by Big Pharma 2.0 who will leverage Entheogens as well as Immersive VR tech to treat Christian Nationalism.    Here are some main points to be made in this episode about the TRUTH of Christian Nationalism:   Christian Nationalism is a nuanced conversation that can only happen with clearly defined terms.  Christian Nationalism seems to be a psychological operation that creates both defender AND enemy of the state! (Perfect vehicle to dismantle the United States, divide and conquer) Christian Nationalism will profile anyone [mostly Christians] who believe in any kind of Biblically based Eschatology as a “terrorist” and “extremist” who are “threats to Democracy”!  Christian Nationalism will be treated as a Mental Health disorder; Perfect candidates for the rise of psychedelic and virtually enhanced psycho therapies.    SOURCES MEGIDDO PROJECT (FBI) What Christian Nationalism Has Done to My State and My Faith Is a Sin (NY Times) → Conservative Issues Dire Warning About Impact of Christian Nationalism (Newsweek) → Wyoming Republican lashes out at Christian nationalists infesting her state, church (RawStory) → Why Some Nonwhite Americans Espouse Right-Wing Extremism (VOA) → Christian Nationalism's Threat to Global Democracy (Taylor Francis) → How Christian Is Christian Nationalism? Summary: National Socialism and Democratic Socialism both advocate institutionalized violence by the state against peaceful people only differing in rhetoric. The most popular self described Democratic Socialists in America today are Senator Bernie Sanders and Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Although Americans account for roughly 5% of the global population, these candidates focus primarily on American well-being at the expense of the other 95% of human beings. Is it because Americans are the poorest people on Earth in need of the most help? Hardly, most Americans today have access to products and services the wealthiest people in history never had access to. Surely if they opposed Nationalism and supported Democracy, they would spend more time drafting policy proposals for the 1.3 billion Chinese, 1.2 billion Indians, and 1.2 billion Africans. Their actions (along with every single American Democratic Socialist I have ever met) display the reality that they too care mostly about their own "nation" and are therefore Nationalists. Nothing wrong with that, but the sanctimonious dismissal Democratic Socialists have of people who are proud of their country drives me up the wall. They tell us loving your country is wrong, except if you live in Ukraine as of 2022. They tell us you cannot take pride in your ancestors accomplishments, but must forever pay for their sins via reparations and harassment by academics. They tell us imperialism is bad and also all 330 million Americans must obey Washington D.C., everyone who supports secession is Benito Mussolini. Both National and Democratic Socialists support the following: The existence of a state apparatus which has a legal monopoly on the right to initiate violence against peaceful people (aka government supremacy) The state monopolizing the money supply (central bank) State compulsory education State regulation of economic activity between consenting adults Anti-Trust laws Commercial and Occupational licensing Higher taxes on "the rich" Tariffs Immigration restrictions Both constantly vilify "the banks and big business" (See National Socialist 25 Point Program) Taxation, the right of the state to coercively collect its funding in a manner which no other group has the right to do State Police (which is why "Defund the Police" was clearly a scam, they know the state needs police to enforce regulations and taxes which they impose on us.) State Military apparatus (not something every country has, private security is cheaper and more reliable, the state itself is an expropriating property protector.) Both constantly obsess over race and explicitly judge people by skin color There are two ways to achieve your ends in life. Either through mutually beneficial voluntary exchanges, or acts of violence and threats thereof. Both types of socialists seek to coercively control hundreds of millions of strangers under the guise of "helping".

Just as the maniacs of the Roundtable hoped would happen. God help us all if these people achieve their plans for world domination. Kaye, author of "The British Marxist Historians," explains why Americans are Democratic Socialists, but they just don't know it yet. ALL Americans want a bigger say in our government and economy, which is why given a free and open debate followed by a free and open opportunity to vote for it -- we would ALL choose Democratic Socialism. America was founded on the principles of Democracy and Socialism. These principles have always been at the heart of the American Dream from Roosevelt right up to Senator Bernie Sanders. These principles are also the foundation of the American social welfare system, Medicare, Medicaid, and the right to a free education. ETHAN HERSCHENFELD Talks monogamy, polygamy and mahogany.
