Given that she's the voice of one of the most iconic bad bitches in entertainment history — Pam Poovey from the long-running and groundbreaking ARCHER — it's no surprise that Amber Nash felt seen by another bad bitch of media. Granted, she might not be the first no-nonsense professional woman that comes to mind. But Lorna Cole, Renee Russo's character in LETHAL WEAPON 3, was the first feeling seen pick that Amber came up with, and the more she examined the pick, the righter it felt. This is National Women's History Month and Artificial Intelligence is rapidly reshaping the workforce, creating a significant, history-making trend where women face disproportionate risks of job displacement, particularly in clerical and administrative roles. Studies indicate that some 6 million women in the United States, who hold highly automatable positions, may need to find new jobs or leave the workforce entirely as AI adoption spreads. Host Llewellyn King and Co-host Adam Clayton Powell III discuss the impact of AI on working women with Jayeeta Putatunda, director of the AI Center of Excellence at Fitch Ratings, and Meredith Delaware, executive director at PCI Federal Government Services.

Business is unpredictable by nature, but what happens at home can either steady you or slowly drain you. I had a moment at a dinner table recently where I realised something that's become true for me: when my relationship is solid, I can handle whatever my business throws at me, because stability at home is an anchor. We talk about why women who thrive in business often have one of two things: real support at home, or the ability to block out tension. And blocking out tension isn't free, it costs energy, focus, and confidence. I share a client example of a high-earning business that was still being treated like a “hobby” at home, and how everything shifted once expectations, boundaries, and the business's role in the family were made clear.Domestic imbalance is still a thing, and it's exhausting. The mental load, the school admin, the appointments, the birthdays, the groceries, the logistics, the caring for everyone, while also being expected to contribute financially like a CEO. Equality doesn't happen by hoping, and why the uncomfortable conversations at home are often the ones that unlock more capacity in business. You'll also get practical ways to start rebalancing without burning your life down: clarify what your business contributes, make the invisible mental load visible, renegotiate one area at a time, and let other people own tasks without micromanaging the process.I also mention a tool that can help couples divide responsibilities more fairly: Fair Play Cards. Because you shouldn't have to choose between business success and a home life that works.Fair Play CardsEmma McQueen:WebsiteFor a copy of Emma's book, 'Go-getter: Raise your mojo, shift your mindset and thrive' – https://emmamcqueen.com.au/want-more/emmas-book/YouTube ChannelMentioned in this episode:Contact Tracy Via InstagramThanks to Tracy Rudich at Intimo for sponsoring Tea With The Queen. Send us a textIf you have ever said, “I just need more hours in the day,” or looked at your phone screen time like it personally betrayed you, this episode is going to feel wildly validating. I sat down with Kelly Nolan, a former attorney turned time management strategist, to talk about why so much productivity advice just does not work for women and why that is not a personal failure.Kelly shares the moment that changed everything for her. Picture this. She is a young lawyer, drowning in work, when a male partner jokes about a stain on her sweater. That tiny comment cracked something open. Kelly realized that the time management systems she was trying to follow were built for people with an entirely different level of support, mental load, and life structure. No wonder she felt like she was failing. We dig into the idea of the “time tipping point,” that moment when capable, organized women suddenly feel overwhelmed. Not because they forgot how to function, but because life got more complex. More responsibility, more invisible labor, more decisions. Kelly explains why women are not disorganized; we are overloaded. She also walks us through the deceptively simple digital habit that changed everything for her. Using her calendar not just for meetings, but for real life. The stuff we usually hold in our heads. Work, home, rest, energy, and the curveballs that inevitably show up. We talk about why time management is actually energy management, how to plan around hormonal shifts, kids, migraines, and unpredictable days, and why rest is not a reward but a requirement. If you are multitasking while listening and wondering if you will even finish this episode, yes, this one is for you. What's Inside:Why most time management advice fails women and why it is not a personal flawThe real reason women hit a time tipping point and feel suddenly overwhelmedHow using your calendar for real life reduces mental load and decision fatigueWhy rest and energy management are essential, not optional, for productivityThis conversation reminded me that clarity creates calm, not more pressure. You are not behind. You are not broken. You are carrying a lot. And when you stop trying to manage time in your head, everything starts to feel lighter.I would love to know what part of your life is taking up the most invisible time and energy right now. In this episode of Life of And, Tiffany sits down with Chris Ewing, a strongman competitor, father of three daughters, and co-founder of Odyssey Resilience, to unpack the real mechanics of personal growth. Chris shares how his obsession with physical strength eventually became a deeper pursuit of emotional, moral, and mental resilience. Together, they challenge the myth of motivation, revealing why it so often fails, and how a compelling personal vision can replace it with something far more durable.Chris outlines the structure behind resilience from morning routines to decision-making frameworks, and explores how clarity of vision gives weight and meaning to our daily discipline. Tiffany opens up about her own struggles with sticking to habits during a chaotic season of life, and Chris offers both empathy and hard truths. Send us a textPressure has a way of revealing what systems are really made of. We start with a bruising week and widen the lens: from alleged deodorant burns and the surge in hair relaxer lawsuits, to NHS resident doctors preparing to strike for pay and staffing, to the silent epidemic of “polite” horrible bosses who weaponise calm and call it leadership. The through line is accountability—of brands, employers, and all of us—to act with care when our choices touch other people's bodies, budgets, and futures.I share why our website will go offline briefly as we rebuild the back end, refresh masterclasses, and add guidance on using AI well. Too many of us try to outsource thinking to ChatGPT and get caught out; I'll show you how to use AI as an assistant, not a replacement. We speak frankly about the real cost of creating quality products as a small business, why discounts aren't a birthright, and how fair pricing keeps the lights on. If you love great stationery and practical career tools, you'll see how that vision is taking shape. Then we get tactical about work. The shouty boss is out; the nice-nasty manager is in. They smile, check on wellbeing, and quietly move the goalposts. Here's how to protect yourself: keep a burn folder, track patterns, mirror the politeness while holding firm boundaries, and use precise language when you push back. Employment protections are expanding, but your evidence is the bridge between harm and remedy. I also open up about ADHD and dyslexia—time blindness, memory gaps, and the systems that help me build: tightly scoped lists, device-based reminders, visual planners, and long blocks for deep work.We close with a sober look at a fatal hit-and-run and the duty that comes with a licence: if you're impaired, don't drive; if you hit anything or anyone, stop. Let the courts weigh evidence, not viral clips. If this resonates, subscribe, share with a friend who needs these tools, and leave a review to help others find the show. Send us a textA poll shock, a policy gamble, a courtroom reckoning, and a boundary that saves a life this episode traces how power, data, culture, and healing collide. We open with a blunt read on fresh numbers putting Nigel Farage within striking distance and ask the tougher question: when the main parties feel unmoored, how do we vote with integrity rather than despair? That thread pulls straight into Keir Starmer's renewed digital ID push. We unpack the Tony Blair Institute's influence, the risks of centralising identity, and why “digital by default” without ironclad security and strict limits is a civil liberties problem, not a modernisation plan. The data story gets painfully real. Cyber attacks have moved from headlines to homes, taking down retailers and even a nursery targeted with stolen images and records. We talk practical defence password managers, multi‑factor authentication, data minimisation and call for sharper laws that fit the crime, especially when perpetrators operate within the UK. Accountability shows up in culture too. Noel Clarke's failed libel suit against The Guardian leaves a £3m cost order and a clearer message: credible reporting and survivor testimony can stand in court, and industry gatekeepers must stop waiting for the courts to do the safeguarding they should have led.Not everything is bleak. The Skims x Nike collaboration is a live case study in strategic branding: knowing your value, choosing partners that amplify it, and letting consistent delivery turn into reputation that travels without you. And then there's the personal work. We share the reality of going no contact with a narcissistic parent after a traumatic birth a choice framed not by bitterness but by the pursuit of peace, therapy, and a safe, joyful home for a child. Boundaries, like encryption, are protective by design. If you're here for smart political analysis, digital privacy insight, culture with a backbone, and honest talk about healing, you're in the right place. Send us a textEver wondered why that mentor relationship isn't yielding results? The harsh truth is that many mentoring relationships fail to deliver actual career advancement especially for Black women. In this candid episode, we unpack why traditional mentorship often falls short and what true strategic mentoring should look like. It's not about inspirational coffee chats or vague encouragement; it's about someone with genuine influence opening doors that would otherwise remain closed to you. As I share from personal experience, "A mentor without contacts or influence is just a friend with opinions."We also tackle the growing trend of companies mandating three-day office returns and how to negotiate terms that work for your life. Through my own negotiation story, I demonstrate how standing firm on your non-negotiables can actually work in your favour, even in a tough job market. Remember if employers want your talents badly enough, they'll meet your terms. The episode also explores how neurodivergent individuals are protected under the Equality Act as a disability class, offering important legal insights for workplace accommodations. Plus, I share a personal story about setting boundaries with new friendships and the importance of protecting your kindness from those who would take advantage.Between renovation chaos and career revelations, this episode delivers practical wisdom for navigating work politics, boundary-setting, and strategic relationship building. Whether you're seeking advancement or simply trying to maintain your sanity in today's workplace, these insights will help you recognize your worth and advocate for yourself effectively.Sponsorships - Email me: hello@toyatalks.com Cc: toyawashington10@gmail.comTikTok: toya_washington Twitter: @toya_w (#ToyaTalksPodcast) Snapchat: @toyawashington Instagram: @toya_washington & @toya_talks www.toyatalks.comhttps://toyatalks.com/ Music (Intro and Outro) Written and created by Nomadic Star Stationary Company - Sistah Scribble Instagram @sistahscribble Website: www.sistahscribble.com
Send us a textEver notice how Black women are expected to win quietly? In this powerful return episode, I dive into the recent tennis court confrontation between Taylor Townsend and Jelena Ostapenko that perfectly captures what many of us experience daily – being told we're "low class" or "uneducated" when we succeed, then being praised for our composure when we don't react to blatant disrespect. The tennis incident serves as a mirror to workplace dynamics where Black women face impossible standards. We're expected to take on additional responsibilities without complaint or compensation, to dim our light when it shines too brightly, and to apologise for achievements that would be celebrated in others. I share personal experiences of being shamed for displaying success or enjoying luxury items – what I now recognise as the systematic policing of Black joy, a pattern so pervasive it deserves to be studied as a psychological phenomenon.I'm thrilled to announce my new venture, Sister Scribble – a stationery brand celebrating Black creativity through vibrant, 90s hip-hop inspired designs. After finding conventional stationery boring and disconnected from my experience, I've created a line that honors our voices and cultural heritage while providing tools for creative expression. The Origin Edit launches in October 2025, coinciding with UK Black History Month. The episode also tackles current events including immigration policies, the weaponisation of national symbols, and how Christianity is sometimes used to create hierarchies among women based on marital status. I close with strategic advice for a listener facing the all-too-common dilemma of being asked to take on senior responsibilities without appropriate recognition or compensation.Ready to stop apologising for your success? Listen now, and remember: you are not here to be manageable. Your wins are only threatening to fragile egos – to the rest of us, they're testimony.Referenced in podcast:On Becoming by Toke Makinwahttps://www.amazon.co.uk/Becoming-Toke-Makinwa-ebook/dp/B01NAAEILQ/ref=sr_1_1?crid=22QOYVTIK8XAJ&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.I2kHpBBav2v9SW3ObtJCNw.dR98_87UWyYR5SicIjHVRdapL-tOgl9Zf3WzsDxrtzY&dib_tag=se&keywords=toke+makinwa&qid=1756854169&sprefix=toke+makinwa%2Caps%2C111&sr=8-1Sponsorships - Email me: hello@toyatalks.com Cc: toyawashington10@gmail.comTikTok: toya_washington Twitter: @toya_w (#ToyaTalksPodcast) Snapchat: @toyawashington Instagram: @toya_washington & @toya_talks www.toyatalks.comhttps://toyatalks.com/Music (Intro and Outro) Written and created by Nomadic Star Stationary Company - Instagram @sistahscribble Website: www.sistahscribble.com COMING SOON....

Maxx's story is both hillarious and eye opening; how she started in modeling at 19, and got into construction by making friends with the CEO of Anheuser-Busch, and showing up on her first day with a pink toolbox and men's work clothes that nearly got her injured because there were no women's work clothes. This is a longer episode, but I'll bet it goes by quicker than you expect, because Maxx is very entertaining, and this story about fashion for the workplace is fascinating! If you asked Maxx what GottStreet Blues is about, she would say,"Clothing for women doing physical labor, clothing that was made with women in mind, getting past vanity sizing, meeting comfort with functionality and fit for women specifically." We talk about this a lot because it's been a real issue for her at work, and it affects others today, as more women are entering the trades for work. GottStreet Blues is a sustainable clothing company for women who work in the trades - or women who have trouble finding clothes that really fit (raising my hand). Maxx's message she wants you to remember: "Trust yourself, you can do anything, anytime, at any age." Send us a textThe pendulum swings wildly from political upheaval to celebrity downfalls in this packed episode examining how power, race, and identity shape our experiences in an increasingly chaotic world.Jeremy Corbyn's dramatic political resurrection with his new "Your Party" has sparked hope for those disillusioned with mainstream UK politics, gaining 200,000 members overnight and highlighting the desperate need for genuine representation. Meanwhile, the shocking ethnicity pay gap statistics revealed by Dawn Butler MP (23.8% less for minorities in London) expose the hollow promises of workplace equality without accountability. The stark contrast between Rachel Reeves' tearful parliamentary moment and Diane Abbott's relentless scrutiny perfectly illustrates the unspoken rules of emotional expression for Black women in public life. We're permitted no vulnerability, no softness – a reality that extends from Parliament to corporate boardrooms, where "jokes" at our expense are weapons disguised as humor.Sean Combs conviction serves as a sobering reminder of how power corrupts and silences victims, while Marcus Fakana's imprisonment in Dubai shows how quickly young Black lives can be destroyed when race, culture, and vindictiveness collide. These stories aren't isolated incidents but threads in the same tapestry of inequality. The episode concludes by examining how even financial success comes with hidden penalties through the "HENRY" phenomenon – where high earners face diminishing returns through aggressive taxation without corresponding benefits. It all points to a system designed to maintain imbalance rather than create true opportunity.Ralph Lauren - Oak Bluffshttps://youtu.be/UOT8CUBpERE?si=v-k98k9oNBSHqWGrReferenced Diane Abbott Interviewhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AMuBazWdE1ICandace Owenhttps://www.youtube.com/live/FDOnxpViQxY?si=7OhdCqQKbLigratghttps://www.youtube.com/live/PKKLk57tcLs?si=FzAcSzmotlK-ZPKGSponsorships - Email me: hello@toyatalks.com Cc: toyawashington10@gmail.comTikTok: toya_washington Twitter: @toya_w (#ToyaTalksPodcast) Snapchat: @toyawashington Instagram: @toya_washington & @toya_talks www.toyatalks.comhttps://toyatalks.com/Music (Intro and Outro) Written and created by Nomadic Star

You know that feeling when you're "doing everything right" but still feel exhausted by 3 PM? Send us a textThe technological revolution isn't coming—it's already here, dismantling traditional business models and reshaping our economic landscape before our eyes. McKinsey's recent firing of 10% of its workforce, openly blaming AI disruption, signals a profound shift that extends far beyond consultancies. This episode dives deep into how artificial intelligence is fundamentally altering employment prospects across all sectors. Bill Gates predicts 80% of job losses within a decade, making it essential to understand how these changes will affect your career trajectory—regardless of your industry or position. We explore practical ways to position yourself ahead of this technological wave rather than being swept away by it.The racial dimension of technological change cannot be ignored, as evidenced by Google's $50 million settlement for bias claims and a shocking LinkedIn experiment where a Black woman changed her profile picture to that of a white woman named "Emily"—immediately receiving interview opportunities previously denied to her. These revelations expose the systemic biases being encoded into the very algorithms meant to streamline hiring processes. For working parents, particularly mothers, the post-pandemic push to return to office-based work adds yet another layer of complexity in an already challenging economic environment. The dismantling of flexible working arrangements disproportionately impacts women who often serve as primary caregivers, forcing many skilled professionals out of the workforce entirely. From HMRC's plans to tax interest on savings accounts to the European pharmacy advantages discovered during a Paris trip, this episode offers practical insights for navigating financial challenges in what increasingly feels like a financial police state. The conversation wraps with a comprehensive update on the Diddy trial, examining the testimony and implications of this high-profile case.Understand the forces reshaping our economic reality and equip yourself with the knowledge to thrive rather than merely survive in this rapidly evolving landscape.Sponsorships - Email me: hello@toyatalks.com Cc: toyawashington10@gmail.comTikTok: toya_washington Twitter: @toya_w (#ToyaTalksPodcast) Snapchat: @toyawashington Instagram: @toya_washington & @toya_talks www.toyatalks.comhttps://toyatalks.com/Music (Intro and Outro) Written and created by Nomadic Star
Send us a textEver felt like you're navigating a world that wasn't built for your success? This deeply personal episode unravels the complex journey of achieving professional excellence while wrestling with life's most challenging transitions.I'm celebrating passing an international certification with distinction – an achievement that came while balancing new motherhood, marriage, and career demands. This victory wasn't just academic; it represented overcoming postpartum depression, therapy struggles, and the persistent pressure to overachieve that many Black women know intimately. Your career can become a lifeline during periods of emotional displacement and loneliness, but there's danger in becoming defined solely by what you do professionally. The conversation expands beyond personal experience to examine how systems consistently cap Black success – whether through UK taxation policies that punish achievement, workplace cultures that view Black women as threats rather than assets, or the persistent colonial mindset that extracts value without giving credit. Drawing powerful parallels between personal career liberation and the broader decolonisation movements happening across Africa under leaders like Captain Ibrahim Traoré of Burkina Faso, we explore what true freedom looks like in both professional and global contexts.Throughout this episode, we discuss navigating environments not designed for your advancement: understanding organisational politics, recognising your value as a subject matter expert, creating leverage through continuous learning, knowing when to walk away, and strategically planning career moves without revealing all your cards. Whether you're feeling stuck, undervalued or simply seeking a more strategic approach to your professional life, this conversation offers both practical guidance and the emotional validation that your experiences are real.Sponsorships - Email me: hello@toyatalks.com Cc: toyawashington10@gmail.comTikTok: toya_washington Twitter: @toya_w (#ToyaTalksPodcast) Snapchat: @toyawashington Instagram: @toya_washington & @toya_talks www.toyatalks.comhttps://toyatalks.com/Music (Intro and Outro) Written and created by Nomadic Star

Sign-up for my free 20-day devotional, The Word Before Work Foundations, at http://TWBWFoundations.com--Series: Mere Christians of the BibleDevotional: 2 of 5Jesus traveled about from one town and village to another, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom of God. The Twelve were with him, and also some women…Mary (called Magdalene) …Joanna the wife of Chuza, the manager of Herod's household; Susanna; and many others. These women were helping to support them out of their own means. (Luke 8:1-3)We're in a series exploring wisdom for our work today from some of the “Mere Christians of the Bible”—believers who did not work as pastors or donor-supported missionaries, but as entrepreneurs, tax collectors, and more.Today's passage introduces us to three mere Christians: Mary, Joanna, and Susanna who “were helping to support” Jesus and the twelve disciples “out of their own means.”Most scholars believe that Joanna was likely the wealthiest of this trio, given her position in Herod's court. But many also believe these women were likely small business owners who worked hard to produce the profits needed to fund Jesus's ministry.Mary, Joanna, and Susanna remind us of three important truths.First, God frequently celebrates women who work “outside the home.” From Eve working alongside Adam in the garden (Genesis 1:26-28), to the midwives God used to defy Pharaoh (Exodus 1:15-21), to Deborah's leading of Israel (Judges 4:4-5), to Mary, Joanna, and Susanna supporting Jesus's ministry, Scripture consistently shows God delighting in the work of his daughters.Second, our work has intrinsic and instrumental value to God. I talk a lot in these devotionals about how your work has intrinsic value to God—in other words, it matters for eternity even when you're not leveraging it to some instrumental and spiritual end such as sharing the gospel or writing a check to the missionaries pictured on your refrigerator. But these women remind us that our work does have important instrumental value. In fact, Paul says that is one of the reasons why mere Christians ought to work: so “that they may have something to share with those in need” (see Ephesians 4:28) including those who rely on the generosity of others to preach the gospel (see 1 Corinthians 9:14).Finally, God values offstage work as much as he does onstage work. Scripture doesn't mention these women preaching or performing miracles like the twelve disciples, but their offstage roles were so valued by God that Luke records them in his gospel. If you're working in relative obscurity today, take heart—God “will not forget your work” either (Hebrews 6:10).How should we respond to the three truths above?Thank God for the gift of working women (and, if you're a woman, for a God who delights in the work you do inside and outside the home).Ask the Lord whose work he might be calling you to support “out of your own means.”Remind a mere Christian working “offstage” that God sees and values their work today.
