You can get information from a PHD or someone very up To date with the literature, but sometimes that leads to answers that don't really fit in with day to day life and isn't really applicable. You can also listen to the practitioners, the coaches, the people in the trenches but what happens to us is we get so caught up taking the sessions and applying our already obtained knowledge, that it's hard to find time to keep upskilling and learn more so you get very stuck in the way you think and apply. Then we have those select few who love the science, love the data and then have the passion to apply it to real people to achieve god-like results for themselves and the people they work with.
