I can't calm my mind. I don't know how you do it. Meditation is not for me. Having thoughts means that we are alive and breathing and approaching meditation thinking that our brain can just shut off and stop having an incoming flow of thoughts, is pretty much an illusion. Having a regular and consistent meditation practice teaches us to be with ourselves, regardless of the incoming thoughts. It teaches us to be the observer. It benefits us and all those that we come in contact with day in and day out. There are practical strategies that we can put into practice and experience how it feels. Approaching each day with an open mind and an open heart does makes a beneficial difference. Begin with a few minutes, start to experience for yourself and see what works for you. I don't have time to meditate. I am too busy to sit down. Meditation is not for the one that has an open agenda, meditation is for the anybody and everybody. Telling ourselves that there is no time for meditation, is simply a thought which attachment and meaning is being added to it. Is not about having time, is about making and blocking the time. Because is necessary to connect with our inner self, to cope with the challenges, the ups, the downs, the triggers, the demands, and the messages from our own bodies, which sometimes we are so busy, and the internal noise is so loud that we can't hear it. In today's episode my intention is to spark curiosity within yourself to explore ways where you can be yourself, and where you can shine your own light without waiting for someone else's permission. Yes, you can look up to others for inspiration, but not imitation or comparison. You don't need to do what others do. Before you feel inspired to try on something that you saw or heard from someone else, make sure that you stop to think about your intention. Let that intention resonate within your entire being. Integrating tools such as mindfulness in our lives, might seem uncomfortable, different, and even confusing at times, however, as it is a practice breaking through previous habits, and consciously implementing new ones, patience, curiosity and open mind play a key role on this lifelong journey. Acceptance is the ability to see that others have a right to be their own unique person. The ability to accept others for who they are, rather than for what you want them to be or want them to think, is KEY in every relationship. Remember that the only person you can change is YOU. In cases where decisions must be made, what do you do? I have learned to make a decision based on possibilities, rather than probabilities, and as being my own lab, that'll be the way to see for yourself what worked, what can be improved and what needs to be released for you to move forward and make the next decision. You can always do your best, don't you think? I'm not talking about perfection here, I'm referring to trying to see every rising, every moment, every breath, as an opportunity to try your best. Why? Because you can only try, consciously, you trying means that you care, that you are actively engaged and aware, and that you can also acknowledge that if you didn't do something as you would have wanted to, you can definitely try AGAIN. Have you ever faced a moment where indecision has taken over all your body...causing anxiety, stress, overthinking, fears, and let's not forget a ton of worries and the endless "what if's'? For way too long I believed that allowing others to decide for me was the right thing to do, because they knew better, and if something “wrong” happened or something did not come out the way I expected or even imagined, it was easier to blame someone else. Once I started coaching myself, I was able to see clearly that whatever decision I make, is me being responsible and accountable for my own actions, plans, goals, etc. If something doesn't happen as “expected”, I now see the lesson, the experience, and make the next decision. Think about this for a moment: if we were to ask a question, isn't it better to ask the right ones. The minute we begin to ask the right questions in our lives, we begin to free ourselves from expectations, from assumptions. We free others from the hook, we begin to shift away from blame, victim thinking and even complaining. Thanks to the tools of Mindfulness, Self-love, Meditation and Yoga, I decided not to stay in the circle of limitations and beliefs that could stop me from being of service to myself, my daughters, and to the world. I no longer believe that external validations, quick wins, and disconnection with the self are fulfilling to humanity. Changes may seem scary. Thinking about it can even provoke agitation because of the uncertainty caused by the decisions that must be made in order to move forward. I have been having these thoughts in mind, directing me to do some changes, and the little voice inside of me was trying to make excuses over possibilities. Love is the most healing, harmonizing and awakening energy to ever move through our bodies. What we often fail to realize is that the love we most seek to experience, the love that radiates Divinity, is a love that comes from deep within ourselves. Second Agreement: Don't take anything personally. “Personal importance, or taking things personally, is the maximum expression of selfishness because we make the assumption that everything is about 'me'". Think of a time that someone else, whether a family member, a friend, or coworker, said something and since you made the assumption it was about you, you took it personally, to the extent of causing you trouble in your mind. Without looking at that situation from a negative, judgmental lens, try to see if you can look at it from a cleaner lens, with room for growth and opportunities for you to simply save yourself from unnecessary feelings, sensations and thoughts.
