Ever wondered why apologies seem so difficult? Want to discover how to move past conflicts and strengthen your relationships with your loved ones? We've got you covered. Today, we bring you a truly enlightening conversation with Licensed Professional Counselor Brooke Vincent, who's joining us for the third time on our podcast. Having mastered the art of balancing her roles as a counselor, mother, and spouse, Brooke shares valuable insights into the concept of relationship ruptures and the importance of repairing them.Every relationship experiences ruptures, whether it's hurtful remarks, yelling, or forgetting important events. Yet, understanding the other person's experience is crucial to navigating these misunderstandings. Brooke guides us on how to model healthy conflict and repair, especially when children are involved. We also explore the role of apologies in parenting. We discuss how admitting our mistakes — despite it being difficult — can establish a foundation of trust and safety with our children. We round off our conversation with techniques to repair ruptures in relationships, particularly within the family and marriage context. Brooke provides actionable advice on how to own up to our actions, show humility, and connect with the other person's feelings during apologies. We also delve into the impact of our actions on teenagers and shed light on the importance of establishing a pattern of apologizing. So grab a cup of coffee, get comfortable, and let's strengthen our family bonds by mending ruptures and fostering a healthier and more open family culture.TakeawaysThe rupture repair cycle is a natural part of relationships and involves acknowledging and repairing ruptures.Repairing relationships requires attunement, curiosity, and compassion.Apologizing is an important part of repair and involves taking responsibility, asking for forgiveness, and making amends.Apologizing can be challenging due to fear of losing authority, fear of vulnerability, and lack of modeling or experience.Initiating apologies can be facilitated by creating a safe and open environment, practicing empathy, and being willing to learn and grow. Take responsibility and personal accountability for your actions in relationships.Have flexibility and acceptance to overcome shame and fear of making mistakes.Expect ruptures in relationships and approach them with compassion and empathy.Repairing relationships requires humility, recognition of mistakes, and sincere apologies.Validate the other person's feelings and care about their hurt, even if you don't understand their perspective.Building resiliency through rupture and repair is crucial for personal growth and secure attachments.Repairing small ruptures builds trust and prepares children for future relationships.Explore resources such as books and podcasts for further understanding of rupture and repair.Consider parent coaching for practical guidance on implementing rupture and repair strategies. To book a counseling session with Brooke, visit brookevincentcounseling.com.Brooke's references for further cSupport the showCheck out our Parent Coaching Courses to get more peace and joy in family life and feel confident about the parenting strategies you're using to help your kids truly THRIVE! A few lessons learned from this Thanksgiving at 26 years old. 1.Not having a strong support system outside of my ride or die friends who were also on the party train, compelled me to believe that I was emotionally alone much of the time.  This feeling of loneliness, even when you are surrounded by people, is a driving force to go to bars, go get drunk because that is how one gets immediate company and a false sense of community. 2.Tofurkey is not a real food. 3.My life had been designed, constructed around drinking, drinking activities and other people who drank,  And so If I didn't drink or didn't want to, that would mean an identity crisis which our minds try to avoid at all costs.Happy Thanksgiving y'all!Love,Jess and @the_mindful_drinking_movementConnect with me! Alcohol is the gateway drug not only for the subsequent usage of other drugs and substances but also because it gives spirits access to your nervous system.  Alcohol lowers our vibration and in excess, causes a toxic environment for our spirits to be in, it has also been shown in Kirlian photography to generate holes in the auric field. Our divine spirit then partially or even fully leaves the body but is still tethered to it.  And when our spirit is essentially NOT HOME, this becomes an opening and even an invitation for other spirits or energies to enter our bodies and animate them in ways that are not really us, not really in alignment with who we want to be or what we want to be doing, things that are out of character.  Some spirits actually have a thirst or a craving for alcohol which then becomes your body's thirst or craving for alcohol. And this also explains why we do or have done horrible things while intoxicated, or ended up hurting ourselves or others, and putting ourselves in danger sexually and physically.  Because these lower vibratory spirits have no regard for your body, your well being or your good intentions.  Here to inform not to freak you out.Love,Jess @the_mindful_drinking_movementTransform your thinking about your drinking inside of The Mindful Drinking Method - schedule your Alcohol Awareness Breakthrough Conversation right here.Mindful Drinking Coaching One hour private 1-1 coaching sessionsInstagram The Mindful Drinking MovementFree and Private FB group - The Mindful Drinking MovementFree Guide 'Drink LESS, Self-Care MORE'Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/mindful-drinking-for-women/exclusive-content

If you consider that you're a healthy person, and that alcohol backs that up in someway, like giving you down time, relaxation, ME time etc. as a form of self care, you probably aren't too activated to make changes.  BUT if you notice that you're having thoughts sprouting up about alcohol being not so great for you, whether you immediately dismiss them or if you're beginning to entertain them and be curious about them, letting them in if you will, you are probably more in the zone of cognitive dissonance, which means that you are near if not already, ready to make changes in your drinking habits. If this speaks to you - this episode is for you! Love,Jess @the_mindful_drinking_movementTransform your thinking about your drinking inside of The Mindful Drinking Method - schedule your Alcohol Awareness Breakthrough Conversation right here. One hour private 1-1 coaching sessions Instagram The Mindful Drinking MovementFree and Private FB group - The Mindful Drinking MovementFree Guide 'Drink LESS, Self-Care MORE'Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/mindful-drinking-for-women/exclusive-content
