Jock McKissic's new book looks like it could've been written by Dabo Swinney. That's how much impact McKissic's former coach has had on his life, from his career as a Clemson defensive lineman from 2005 to 2008, all the way to this day. In 50 Principles to Thrive in Life From Half-Full to Overflowing, McKissic explores themes such as The Coffee Bean Principle, why comfort is your greatest enemy, and how to control the controllables. But the most meaningful chapter to McKissic is: "Flowers for the living -- why waiting until it's too late to appreciate people is the biggest regret of all." "I give my male peers flowers," McKissic said. "Because most men don't get flowers until they're dead. I don't want anybody around me to get their first bouquet of flowers when they're at their own funeral." McKissic, who conducted the interview from a DMV parking lot in Los Angeles, also explores the other parts of a life that has ventured far from his roots in Alabama and Clemson. McKissic was born in Opelika, Ala. His mother Cynthia D. Smith took notice to his love for entertaining early. Jock began acting in church & school plays at age 7. His love for the craft would continue to flourish, but took a back seat to sports once he reached high school. During his tenure at Clemson University, McKissic would occasionally join the improv team on campus for events. In 2012 he found his way back to the camera on USA television show, Necessary Roughness. After retiring from football later that year, Jock took on acting full time. His resume continues to expand, but not only as an actor; as a writer and director as well.
Today on Too Opinionated we sit down with actress/writer Liz Vassey! Liz Vassey began acting at the age of nine, performing in over fifty musicals and plays. She moved to New York at the age of sixteen to join the cast of All My Children. For her work on that show, she was nominated for her first Daytime Emmy. Since then, Liz has appeared as a regular or recurring character on twelve television shows including ER, Maximum Bob, Necessary Roughness, Brotherly Love, Push Nevada, Two and a Half Men, FOX's live action version of The Tick, and, most recently, Season Two of The Tick reboot on Amazon. But she is probably best known for her five year run on CSI: Crime Scene Investigation as DNA technician "Wendy Simms." Liz has also guest starred on many TV shows, starred in many pilots, and appeared in several films. In addition to acting, Liz is an accomplished writer. She co-wrote an episode of CSI during her last season, and has since sold six television pilots and a TV movie, developing for such networks and studios as NBC, Freeform, Universal, Netflix, and CW. An avid runner, Liz recently made her directorial debut with the newly released documentary feature, The Human Race, which focuses on runners over the age of fifty. Liz lives in Hollywood with her husband, David Emmerichs, and their combined brood of way too many pets. Want to watch: YouTube Meisterkhan Pod (please subscribe)
Evan Handler is beloved by millions for portraying Harry Goldenblatt, divorce-lawyer-turned-husband to Kristin Davis's Charlotte York, on HBO's groundbreaking series, and films, “Sex and the City,” it's current MAX follow-up, “And Just Like That,” as well as Charlie Runkle on Showtime's seven season “Californication.” In addition to authoring two highly acclaimed books, Time on Fire: My Comedy of Terrors, and It's Only Temporary: The Good News and the Bad News of Being Alive, Evan has played leading roles in ABC's “It's Like, You Know…,” and NBC's “Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip,” STARZ' “Power,” and made numerous memorable guest appearances on “Lost,” “The West Wing,” “Six Feet Under,” “Necessary Roughness,” and “Friends.” In 2000, Evan played Larry Fine in ABC's TV movie “The Three Stooges,” followed by additional “real life” portrayals of Lloyd Blankfein in HBO's “Too Big to Fail,” Alan Dershowitz in FX's “People vs. OJ Simpson,” and Hal Prince in FX's “Fosse/Verdon,” each of which garnered numerous wide-ranging awards. On the big screen, Evan played a leading role in Ron Howard's “Ransom,” starring Mel Gibson, and featured and leading roles Oliver Stone's “Natural Born Killers,” “Taps,” “The Chosen,” and “Sweet Lorraine.” He's currently visible in David Duchovny's directorial effort, “Reverse the Curse.” Prior to his work in film and television, Evan earned acclaim in seven Broadway productions, all performed between his twenty-first and thirtieth birthdays, and all in spite of losing nearly five years of that span to his fight against a supposedly “incurable” leukemia. During this time Evan starred in Broadway productions of “Six Degrees of Separation,” “I Hate Hamlet,” “Brighton Beach Memoirs,” “Broadway Bound” and “Master Harold...and the boys.” Evan also worked extensively in off-Broadway and regional theater at NY's Public Theater, Manhattan Theater Club, Playwrights Horizons, Seattle Rep, and Steppenwolf, performing early plays by Donald Margulies, Robert Schenkkan, Jez Butterworth, and numerous others. Evan's first book, Time On Fire, details his unlikely recovery from the leukemia diagnosed in the mid-1980s. His second book, It's Only Temporary: The Good News and the Bad News of Being Alive, describes the twenty-year period post-illness, and Handler's surprisingly circuitous journey toward gratitude, using tales of serial dating, absurd relationships, unexpected depressions, and, ultimately, lasting love and a miracle conception. As Paul courts professor Suzanne Carter (Harley Jane Kozak), the team struggles until the arrival of a female placekicker, who bolsters the squad as it gets ready to challenge its big rival.

Please join myself and Corn Nation's Aaron Rastovski this evening at 8PM CST for the debut broadcast of All The Right Movies, a show for sports movie enthusiasts. Each week, we will review a memorable sports movie from a variety of angles. Of course, we'll cover the plot, best scenes and lines, but also things like the music, comedy - intentional or not - the quality of the sports scenes, were there adrenalin scenes?, was there a montage (think of Rocky as the gold standard), and just how Ludacris was the plot? (Roll with me here.) Tonight's show is Necessary Roughness which came out in 1991 and starred Scott Bakula, Hector Elizondo, Robert Loggia, Harley Jane Kozak and Larry Miller to name a few. A former Husker also made an appearance, so I figured what better way to kick things off?

Two-time Emmy and Three-time NAACP Image Award-winning television Executive Producer Rushion McDonald interviewed Karon Joseph Riley. The co-star of BET+ "The Black Hamptons" will soon be releasing his first book, “Keep Pedaling The Things I Learned on My Bike.” Karon Joseph Riley was born a star; at least, that is what his mother often told him while growing up in Detroit, Michigan. Karon wanted to be an actor as early as the first grade when he played Puss in Boots in a stage play. Soon after his theatre debut, his athletic talents also emerged. Being the crowd pleaser, he entertained everybody with his athletic prowess. He graduated from the University of Minnesota and remains the All-Time Sack leader and All-American football player. His performance on the gridiron stage led him to become a 4th Round Draft pick of the Chicago Bears. He played seven years between the NFL, CFL, and AFL. After his career ran, he set his sights on Hollywood as he always promised. Through sports and lessons from his mother, Karon was taught that hard work is the only way to make the blueprints that God downloaded into his work. Working off of his faith, he took acting classes in his off-seasons in Los Angeles. Once he officially retired, he dropped the football body and replaced it with the body of a leading man. As a testament to his work, ethnic booked his first speaking role in Russ Parr's classic romantic comedy “35 and Ticking,” starring Kevin Hart and Meagan Goode. After that he booked steady roles on multiple networks on shows like “Single Ladies,” and “Necessary Roughness”. Now a solid network talent, Karon set himself up for a huge year run with a role in Will Packer's feature film “Little” starring Issa Ray and Regina Hall. After that box office exposure, Karon booked two series regular roles on two hit shows. One was “Ambitions,” with Brian J. White and Robin Givens, and the other was “Saints and Sinners,” with Clifton Powell and Vanessa Bell Calloway, respectively. He is currently starring in the NAACP-nominated series The Black Hamptons on BET.Support the show: https://www.steveharveyfm.com/See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

A globally renowned actor known for his iconic roles in shows like "Quantum Leap", “Star Trek: Enterprise” and "NCIS: New Orleans," Scott Bakula looks back on his fruitful and diverse career, including his time as Dr. Sam Beckett (Becket?), and some interesting behind-the-scenes details including whether or not that final end screen of the series actually has a typo! With so many changes that occurred post-pandemic, he shares his thoughts on doing self-tapes for auditions, why he thinks it's become an empty experience, and why it can be limiting and isolating. He talks about his current role in the new Jason Robert Brown musical “The Connector”, his view on journalism after doing the show, and the reason behind their incredibly designed double-raked stage. With his family and the joy of connecting with people as his driving forces, Scott advocates theater as a foundational learning ground for aspiring actors. Scott Bakula is an actor who commanded the leading role of Dr. Sam Beckett in “Quantum Leap” from 1989 to 1993 and has earned him a Golden Globe Award and multiple Emmy Nominations. His other TV and film credits include “Star Trek: Enterprise” where played Captain Jonathan Archer, “American Beauty”, “Necessary Roughness”, “Murphy Brown”, and Ray Romano's “Men of a Certain Age”. Aside from lending his voice to animated series such as “American Dad”, “The Simpsons”, and “Archer”, he also has a Tony Award nomination for his performance in the 1988 Broadway production of “Romance/Romance”. His additional stage credits include “Is There Life After High School” in 1982, “Marilyn” in 1983, and “Three Guys Naked from the Waste Down” in 1985 for which he received a Drama Desk Award nomination. Apart from acting, he's now showing off his dancing and singing skills eight times a week as Conrad O'Brien in “The Connector”, extended through March 17th at MCC Theater in New York.
