Will Forte is one of the only comedians to ever turn down an initial offer from Lorne Michaels to join ‘Saturday Night Live.' But after three years in the cast, he found himself at a crossroads on the show. In his return to the podcast, Forte discusses the second lease on life that Michaels gave him after coming closer than anyone knew to cutting him loose. The star of two Netflix series this year—‘Haunted Hotel' and ‘The Four Seasons'—also talks about his love of animation and playing the husband of his former ‘SNL' boss Tina Fey. And Forte shares updates on the unlikely fate of his canceled and then resurrected ‘Coyote vs. Acme' movie, reveals the potential for a ‘MacGruber' sequel, and shares behind-the-scenes stories from his wild night at the ‘SNL50' anniversary special.Follow Will Forte on Instagram @orviv Follow Matt Wilstein on Bluesky @mattwilstein Follow The Last Laugh on Instagram @lastlaughpodWatch full episodes of The Last Laugh podcast on the Daily Beast's YouTube channelHighlights from this episode and others at TheDailyBeast.com Hosted on Acast. Rip some throats and lube up the celery, because on this very special episode of Remainders we watch the 2010 cult classic MacGruber. We dive deep into the very last, and possibly best, SNL movie. Insanely confident as a comedy playing it straight as an 80s action movie, we check out why this absurdist masterpiece works so well. Crude, chaotic, and classic MacGruber.Other topics include the careers of Will Forte, Val Kilmer and Powers Boothe, Christopher Nolan's love for MacGruber, Jon Hamm and comedy, the 90s Batman movies and the reappraisal of the campy spirit of those movies, studio marketing and The Studio television show, the Coen Brothers, new physical media pickups, the Avatar 3 trailer, favorite comedies of all time, A History of Violence on Criterion, and whether Marlon Wayans was a Robin action figure.Songs of the WeekJealous Heart by Connie FrancisI Just Want You by Ozzy OsbourneRemainders Jukebox PlaylistWebsiteFacebookInstagramYouTubeTwitter
In this episode, Nathan and Whitney recap Season 1 of Netflix's smart, heartwarming ensemble dramedy starring Tina Fey, Steve Carell, Colman Domingo, Will Forte and more.Based on the 1981 film, the series reimagines the story of three longtime couples who vacation together each season — until divorce, a new girlfriend and emotional baggage disrupt the balance. Over eight episodes, the show explores friendship, marriage, parenting and identity with honesty, humor and just enough awkward tension.Nathan and Whitney discuss what makes The Four Seasons feel so real (even to their teen daughter), why the seasonal structure and cast dynamics work so well and whether a second season is even necessary.
Will Forte talks about almost being a financial advisor, his checkered writing career, SNL MacGruber, Nebraska, The Groundlings, Last Man on Earth, having kids late, seeing shrinks, frats, & Val Kilmner being the weirdest roommate of all time.Bio: Will Forte is a comedian, actor, writer, and improviser best known for his work on Saturday Night Live and his starring role in The Last Man on Earth. Born in Alameda County, California, Forte studied History at UCLA before briefly working as a financial broker. His pilot about two clueless brothers led to The Brothers Solomon (2007), which he wrote and starred in. Forte joined Saturday Night Live in 2002, quickly earning a reputation for absurd and surreal comedy. He co-wrote and starred in the cult film MacGruber (2010) before leaving SNL to pursue broader roles. He appeared in comedies like 30 Rock, Tim and Eric's Billion Dollar Movie, and That's My Boy, while also branching into drama with Run and Jump and Alexander Payne's Nebraska (2013), earning critical praise. They say the fourth time is the charm, and that has never been truer than today's episode of And Just Like That, Apples To Apples. MPK (or whoever's writing these darn things) seems to have finally gotten their rhythm and discovered the secret to good storytelling; Sideline Carrie Bradshaw. The complex family Aiden situation takes centerstage, as does Bob, a character who undoubtedly should've been played by Will Forte. Miranda and Joy continue their charged romantic relationship laid atop a confusing work relationship that Tim still cannot get his head around. Lisa Todd Wexley, in a highly relatable turn, has accidentally hired a hot male editor but REFUSES to have a sex dream about him, much to the disappointment of your podcast hosts. Our Val Kilmer deep dive continues this month on We Drink & We Watch Things, and this week we're tackling the gloriously silly action-comedy, MacGruber. Apparently, opinions are split in the studio, so grab your drink and prepare for a potentially spirited discussion about this SNL spin-off.This week, we'll be looking at Kilmer's role in this over-the-top parody, alongside Will Forte's hilariously inept hero. We'll be dissecting the film's unique brand of humor, the surprisingly committed performances, and trying to figure out just why Lemar finds it so darn entertaining while Mackenzie...well, didn't. Expect a lively debate, some memorable (or maybe not-so-memorable for some of us) lines, and a whole lot of "what the heck did we just watch?"Whether you're a MacGruber mega-fan, someone who found it baffling, or just curious to hear Mackenzie and Lemar duke it out over its merits, tune in! We're blending our contrasting opinions with our usual casual banter, making this a potentially chaotic but definitely entertaining installment in our Val Kilmer celebration. That Show Hasn't Been Funny In Years: an SNL podcast on Radio Misfits
Nick takes a hilarious stroll down memory lane to the night Peyton Manning traded his helmet for a hosting gig on Saturday Night Live. From Maya Rudolph and Amy Poehler dishing it out as the "Bronx Beat" ladies, to Andy Samberg's wild take on Sanjaya and a surprise visit from Dan Aykroyd, the show was packed with standout moments. Things get especially weird (and wonderful) when Manning joins Kristin Wiig for a late-night sketch that goes completely off the rails. But the real showstoppers? That infamous United Way spoof where Manning's tough love with a bunch of kids turns into comic gold, and Will Forte's unforgettable dance-floor meltdown in the Locker Room sketch—one he still calls a personal favorite. With clips, commentary, and memories from both Manning and Forte, this one's a winning highlight reel from a surprisingly game host. [EP 123]

Tina Fey returns to TV on the charming Netflix comedy The Four Seasons. It's about a group of couples whose friendship dynamic is rocked by their midlife crises. The MCU is once again in the spotlight as major Avengers: The Kang Dynasty leaks have surfaced online—and we're diving into everything we've learned. On today's episode of The Kristian Harloff Show, we break down the original plan for Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, its evolution into Avengers: Doomsday, and what it all means for Marvel Phase 5, Secret Wars, and the future of the Multiverse Saga. Now, with Stephen McFeely rewriting both Avengers 5 and Secret Wars, and the Russo Brothers returning to direct, the entire direction has shifted. We're breaking down the leaked Kang Dynasty script that includes wild reveals like a Moon Knight team-up, Miles Morales' MCU debut, a Deadpool 3 crossover, and even a Spider-Man: No Way Home reunion. Plus, what role was Doctor Doom supposed to play before becoming the central threat in Avengers: Doomsday? And how does this affect the lead-in to Avengers: Secret Wars?
