Sisters Who Scene It

Send us a textKatie and Bridget each get big and do their secret handshake song as they re-watch the 80's classic: Big! It's a movie all about how if you're a 12 year old white boy who suddenly becomes Big and moves into the city with literally no money - you will eventually "fall up" and get promoted to VP of a toy company - just cause! Duh! Come along as we meet Josh, the 12 year old going on 30 year old who goes into the city while he tries to reverse his Zoltar-infused growth spurt. With the help of his best friend Billy, the ultimate ride-or-die bff, he gets on his feet and gets a job at a toy company - where he again, falls up. This movie asks the tough questions like: why are corporate meetings so stupid? How come we don't all have indoor trampolines in our homes? Where can we play on a life size piano in a public toy store to get a crazy raise!? All these and more in this coming of age comedy with lots of heart as well as some predatory behavior! Released in 1988, it stars Tom Hanks, Elizabeth Perkins, John Heard, Robert Loggia, and Jared Rushton.

This week on the Exciting & New podcast, Jason, Andy and Dana welcome Zach back on the show as they discuss the 1985 legal drama Jagged Edge.  The Dude maybe or may not have killed his wife, and Glenn Close is going to do everything she can to find out the truth, including sleeping with her client.  Robert Loggia (you know, R as in Robert Loggia) plays Glenn's seedy man on the street, hired to dig up all the dirt.  Good cast, boring movie.   You know we will put our Exciting (eh?) spin on this one.  Enjoy the podcast.

Returning from our unofficial hiatus, we continue our series on Oliver Stone. The early 1980s saw the release of a few films written by Stone that centered upon violent antiheroes. We talk about John Milius and his clash of visions with Stone over the approach to mysticism in 1982's Conan the Barbarian. Next, Scarface and The Year of the Dragon both unsuccessfully grasp toward Stone's political turn, while the much higher quality Salvador (1986) is the movie that truly brings Stone into his own as a filmmaker. Analyzing the insights and limitations of Salvador's critique of the CIA, we consider how its protagonist (journalist Richard Boyle, played by James Woods) reflects Stone's evolving approach to masculinity and to the legacy of the counterculture.   https://twitter.com/CinemaPsyophttps://www.patreon.com/PsyopCinemahttp://psyop-cinema.com/https://linktr.ee/psyopcinemathomas-psyopcinema@protonmail.combrett-psyopcinema@protonmail.com  If you enjoy Psyop Cinema, check out Cultural Engineering Studies magazine - https://decoding-culture.com/product/cultural-engineering-studies-issue-1-print/ CORRECTION: Tony's boss in Scarface was played by Robert Loggia, rather than Frank Langella

Forrest, Conan Neutron, Kristina Oakes, Kt Baldassaro, Marta Mcfly @mcflysmoviehouse and Rayyvana @RayyvanaPolitics discuss David Lynch's Lost Highway We planned this episode a couple months ago, before we obviously found out that David Lynch had passed. So, I'm sure we're going to talk about David Lynch in general during this episode, but it's not the reason we planned it!! Lost Highway is David Lynch's 1997 return to filmmaking after Twin Peaks and Twin Peak's Fire Walk With Me.. although Wild at Heart was also made during this time in 1990. After things didn't go as well as David Lynch hoped in the TV industry after Twin Peaks, he entered an even more surrealist and fascinating moment in his career.. with Lost Highway and then Mulholland Drive. Lost Highway stars Bill Pullman, Patricia Arquette, Balthazar Getty, Robert Blake, Gary Busey, Natasha Gregson Wagner, Robert Loggia, and with appearances by Richard Pryor, Giovanni Ribisi, Henry Rollins, Marilyn Manson and Twiggy Ramirez, Jack Nance, and Mink Stole. The music was worked on by Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails and has an insane mix including David Bowie, Lou Reed, Rammstein, Marilyn Manson, and the Smashing Pumpkins #davidlynch #Lynch #bluevelvet #mulhollanddrive #losthighway #twinpeaks #billpullman #podcast #moviepodcast #filmpodcast #patriciaarquette #marilynmanson #trentreznor #richardpryor #neonoir #noir #henryrollins #robertloggia #davidlynchweatherreport #balthazar #getty Watch KT Baldassaro & Jared Skolnick's Girl in the Basement: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mcn2Q57VXEQ Join our discord: https://discord.gg/NK3TMk63Pe The Movie Night Extravaganza Patreon helps us keep the show going.. become a Patron and support the show!! https://patreon.com/MovieNightExtra Conan Neutron has music available from Conan Neutron & The Secret Friends https://neutronfriends.bandcamp.com OR if you want to become a Protonic Reversal patron: https://patreon.com/protonicreversal

It's a monster mash on this fresh from the grave episode of DEATH BY DVD all about FRANKY AND HIS PALS, directed by Gerald Cormier. What is Franky And His Pals, you ask? Well, let us copy and paste the write up from the official Severinfilms.com website where this movie is available to purchase, because we are to lazy to write something up ourselves and theirs is way better : From the deepest, darkest depths of the shot-on-video vaults… Hidden from view for 30 years… All your favorite movie monsters are back… And they're ready to party like it's 1990! Franky, Drak, Wolfy, Mummy and Humper – the horny hunchback – descend on the tiny mining town of French Gulch in search of lost gold, but it's Halloween Night, and the monsters soon find themselves caught up in the debaucherous festivities of the local townsfolk. Will Franky and His Pals find the gold? Will they learn the ways of love? Will Drak quench his thirst for human blood? Just how explosive is Franky's flatulence? What's that Mad Scientist tinkering on out in his barn? What the hell is a pee-pee? And does any of it really matter? Directed by veteran grindhouse and adult film producer Gerald Cormier (TERROR CIRCUS a.k.a. BARN OF THE NAKED DEAD, 101 ACTS OF LOVE) and seldom-seen beyond the shelves of small-town video shops, this bizarro monster-comedy is finally being resurrected on DVD and is positively exploding with spooky Special Features! And since I copy and pasted all that from Severin, the least I can do is also add the link so you can buy the movie : TAP HERE FOR THE MOVIEDive into the monster mash with your host Harry-Scott Sullivan and kick back and relax with this hoot and an additional hollar of an episode. It's a light week for physical media as we prepare for the onslaught of horror to arrive in October. The month does start off with a couple decent titles in the thrills department including a package Peter Sobczynski and Erik Childress catch-up on featuring the works of Lewis Allen. Paramount has put together the second of their “Scares” package which features at least one title worth getting in 4K that may also be more of a thriller than a horror film. Kino does deliver some witchy fun along with one of the best boxing films as well a young romance that may have you repeating the title of the episode. Finally, they look back on a series receiving numerous celebrations recently for its 25th Anniversary. 0:00 - Intro 1:40 - Kino (Body & Soul, First Love, Burn Witch Burn) 22:13 - Shout Factory (As Above, So Below) 27:20 - Imprint (The Uninvited) 35:00 - Paramount (Paramount Scares Vol. 2 4K) 58:59 – Warner Bros. Send us a Text Message. On our 87th episode we're looking back at the year 1996, a simpler time when humanity came together and made big hits out of unsophisticated and unabashedly emotional sci-fi adventures. We're talking Independence Day directed by Roland Emmerich and starring Will Smith, Bill Pullman, Jeff Goldblum, Judd Hirsch, Margaret Colin, Mary McDonnell, Robert Loggia, James Rebhorn, Brent Spiner, Vivica A. Fox and Randy Quaid and Star Trek First Contact directed by Jonathan Frakes and starring Patrick Stewart, Frakes, Brent Spiner, Levar Burton, Michael Dorn, Marina Sirtis, Gates McFadden, Alfre Woodard, Alex Krige and James Cromwell.  I'm Gino Caputi and returning for the follow up to our sci fi 1994 episode which compared Emmerich's Stargate to the previous TNG Star Trek film subtitled Generations are  author/hypnotist Joe Field and Utah IT tech and reformed TNG superfan Burton Brown.  Gentlemen, welcome. Before we get into it, the synopses: The people of the planet Earth are utterly astonished and horrified when on July 2nd 1996, an enormous spacecraft, half the size of the moon, launches 10 city-sized spacecraft over the world's major cities which proceed to blow them to smithereens. It's up to President Tom Whitmore, Ace Fighter Pilot Captain Steve Hiller and MIT genius David Levinson to devise a plan on Independence Day to stop the alien army.  In Star Trek First Contact Captain Jean-Luc Picard's old foe the cybernetic Borg return to conquer the Federation once and for all by traveling back in time to the mid 21st Century to stop Warp Drive Pioneer Zefram Cochrane from making first contact with an advanced alien species. Picard and his brave crew of the brand new USS Enterprise E risk losing their ship and being stranded in the 21st Century forever when they follow the Borg into the past in order to thwart their nefarious plan.  Which film is the winner of the battle of the invincible aliens? Find out!  Follow the FFF Facebook page!https://www.facebook.com/groups/fabulousfilmandfriends Watch  on Youtubehttps://youtu.be/LbLkiV0XkGc

Each week, we will review a memorable sports movie from a variety of angles. Of course, we'll cover the plot, best scenes and lines, but also things like the music, comedy - intentional or not - the quality of the sports scenes, were there adrenalin scenes?, was there a montage (think of Rocky as the gold standard), and just how Ludacris was the plot? (Roll with me here.) Tonight's show is Necessary Roughness which came out in 1991 and starred Scott Bakula, Hector Elizondo, Robert Loggia, Harley Jane Kozak and Larry Miller to name a few. A former Husker also made an appearance, so I figured what better way to kick things off?

There were many epic types of movies in the 80s from action to adventure, thrillers to teen comedies, there was something for everyone in the decade. However, one topic that hadn't been touched, and was ultimately needed in 1987 was a movie about truck drivers and arm wrestling. Team 80's and 90s will tackle their first Sylvester Stallone movie with a special guest, hoping to tackle all of the big questions like, Did Stallone kidnap that kid? Can you drink an entire can of oil? And is the arm wrestling tournament double elimination? These are just a few of the hard hitting topics, along with probably endless Stallone impressions that will come out on this episode. So flip your hat backwards and look out for Robert Loggia and his goons, as we haul ourselves back to 1987 to go Over the Top. Back in December of 1983, this bloody, epic crime saga from director Brian DePalma (Carrie, The Untouchables, Blow Out) opened to middling reviews and box office....after months of hype regarding its extreme violence and how it depicted the Cuban community in Florida.  The controversy never quite died down but its reputation only grew as it went on to become one of the most influential films of the 1980's.  Starring Al Pacino as the infamous Tony Montana and loosely based on the legend of Al Capone, we follow his meteoric rise from destitute refugee to excessively wealthy crime boss....and the subsequent fall as well.  It also stars Steven Bauer, Michelle Pfeiffer, Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio, Robert Loggia, and F. Murry Abraham.  Say HELLO to his little friend!!!WARNING: GRAPHIC LANGUAGE & GRAPHIC VIOLENCE PORTRAYED THROUGHOUT MOVIE CLIPS Host & Editor: Geoff GershonProducer: Marlene Gershon https://livingforthecinema.com/Facebook:https://www.facebook.com/Living-for-the-Cinema-Podcast-101167838847578Instagram:https://www.instagram.com/livingforthecinema/Letterboxd:https://letterboxd.com/Living4Cinema/
