This is a podcast that’s based on the premise of:“A group of normal everyday people getting “deep” on varying subjects”. That’s all! Let this be said right away, this is more in the form of “useless bar room trivia knowledge” than an “educational” podcast. It’s comedically gritty commentary about subject matter thats mostly way above our heads…… **With the exception of the occasional guest that actually knows what they’re talking about! This is purely ridiculous brainstorming at it’s finest in which we are self-proclaimed professionals. We’ll get facts wrong, divulge too much information, awkwardly approach subjects and make fools of ourselves!
This week the crew welcomes back returning friend of the show and fellow podcaster TJ The Mayor of Beyond The Tracks Podcast in studio for a conversation that has been a long time coming. The last time the BTT boys were in the house, they were putting out one show per month and were really starting to find their stride. Smash cut to current day, BTT has gone to once a week and made many moves and changes and these fellas are doing BIG THINGS! Join us for a little catch up session to find out what the guys have been up to, and of course we had to get a bit deep with Mr. Mayor. So please, join in on the conversation and ALSO… head on over to Beyond The Tracks Podcast on all listening platforms to hear Just Scott and Tyner The Pirate Chef on their podcast this week. Cheers!!!
Is there an unwritten rule you adhere to without even thinking? Maybe it's an odd superstition, or maybe you've seen something negative happen enough times, you avoid that particular situation all together. Some of them have no rhyme or reason, and make no sense at all. You just keep living that way because it is comforting and easier. Most of us have little lines drawn in the proverbial sand where we blindly make choices based on our own experiences and intuitions. Have you ever thought about them? How did they start? Is there any valid reason behind them, or is it just gut instinct? Today Just Scott and Tyner The Pirate Chef discuss some of theirs and examine a few other examples of these little “life rules” which we use as a road map in an attempt to navigate life in the most stress free, hassle free, Karma free way possible. If you have any of your own unique life rules, send them in to the email info@shitgetsdeep.com, or to the Phone line via text or voicemail at (510) GET-DEEP. Always looking forward to hearing from you, and hope you enjoy this week's episode. CHEERS!!!
Ever bet your friend a freeze pop you could throw a ball farther than they can, bet your dad Philly was going to beat New York in the game on Sunday, lost your entire life savings on a trip to a gas station casino in Montana? The desire to gamble is an unexplainable phenomenon which tugs at many of our brains (and wallets) from time to time. Either you've got it or you don't. But what is even more unexplainable is luck. Is it real? Why do some people seem to have it in bushels and other people (like our very own Pirate Chef) seem to take an unbelievable amount of bad beats. Why do we keep coming back to the betting table? The feeling of that win, chasing the dragon of the one time you bet $5 on a NFL parlay and hit for $342 before the 4:05 games even started on Sunday. Of course that is why! So here's to all the winners, the losers, the lucky ones, and the mushes out there ruining a good game of craps for everyone involved, BON CHANCE!!! And CHEERS!
This week the fellas welcome returning guest and friend of the show Mikey Shumaker into Studio B, because CONGRATULATIONS are in order. Since we last had the opportunity to sit down with him and chat, 8 Mile Vodka… the brand he champions, represents, hypes, has a stake in, AND generally works his ass off for has BLOWN UP!!! Not only have they became the official vodka of the Detroit Pistons, been welcomed into Tiger Stadium, and began a wider distribution of the brand outside of Michigan… they have won Double Gold at the San Francisco Spirits Competition AND won Best of Class Vodka and Best of Class Overall Vodka for 2022 out of all the Double Gold winners. We find no finer way to congratulate the homie, than have him in studio and sip some 8 Mile cocktails and offer a standing ovation. We also figured we would throw a bit of a curve ball Mikey's way and ask him what he wanted to “Get Deep” about, which led to some great convo on some old school SGD topics we haven't really brought up in a while. After all was said and done, one thing is obvious… Mikey is going to have to come on back soon and jump right into the deep end for some more thought provoking topics. We, hope you enjoy this weeks episode… Go to 8milevodka.com to get some for yourself, tell em Shit Gets Deep sent ya, and make sure you give a virtual Hi 5 because IT'S A CELEBRATION BITCHES! Cheers!!!
Upon further reflection, last week's episode was not nearly enough time to discuss Agenda 21 and the controversy that seems to surround this initiative. So we took a deep breath after traveling off into the weeds on tangent after tangent, and tried to refocus ourselves and take another swing at this topic. This week we dive right into the meat and potatoes of the document itself and we discuss a “cliff notes theatresque” list of the core tennants and bullet points of Agenda 21. NOW may we have used an unsubstantiated, non fact checked, non-reliably sourced document to highlight our subject? MAYBE, but you'll get the point. We do also give you a direct link to the 351 page actual factual document if you'd like to do some light reading on the subject. The fact remains that Agenda 21 is a real thing, and it has been shaping policy and the direction of society since the First Bush was in the presidency. That's 1992 for you all if you can't remember that far back. So PLEASE, sit back relax and just appreciate all the hard work the leaders of the free world are doing to ensure you can easily slide right into the THEY LIVE type of future world they have all planned out for us. Remember guys, it is just SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT. That is all, SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT…. Its for our own good. If you don't believe us, check it all out for yourselves. We're just here trying to make you think. Think for yourself, check out all the facts, educate yourself, and THEN decide if your best interests are being looked our for. Cause WHY WOULDN'T THEY BE??? Agenda 21 Part Deux… CHEERS!!!
This week the fellas decided to do something a little different, a little sketchy, and perhaps a little bit dangerous. They decided to poke at the bear… the “they” that seem to be in charge of the narrative, the rules, the things we see and hear, AND the direction in which society is headed. And its ALL for our well being… just blindly trust “them”. Well, at least that's what we have been told thus far. Part 1 of a 2 part series on the handbook to a sustainable future for generations to come (no sarcasm in that statement we promise). AGENDA 21!!! If you've been paying attention at all to current events and add them all up, or perhaps just been keeping eyes on the world leaders and elites since the late 80s early 90s, you may have heard this term thrown around. But what is it really? At its best, its base tenants are a plan to ensure our safety, sustainability and, longevity of society going forward into the uncertain future. At its worst it is a conspiracy theorist's wet dream of a dystopian future with everyone enslaved to serve our benevolent lizard overlords. This week we take a deep dive into Agenda 21 and theorize about what it is, and why the elites and world leaders find it sooooo important that we move society in this particular direction. Sustainable Development, sustainable development, sustainable development, say it one more time sustainable development… That's what its all about, sustainable development. We promise it is just sustainable development. Cheers!!!
Our inner monologue, the voice inside our head, the conversation we have with ourself, OR the odd comments that seem to come from somewhere else that just pop into our heads, everyone has their own unique version of this phenomena. This week Just Scott and The Pirate Chef have a discussion about just that. What do you spend your time thinking about when you are alone? Is there a dominant subject matter? Or is it just random thoughts strung together by seemingly nothing? ALSO intrusive thoughts…. Who has them? We now know, The Pirate Chef certainly does, and as goes with intrusive thoughts some of them are DARK! Not that we'd expect anything less of him. Regardless of the subject matter of the chatter, it seems like the dialogue that takes place internally within our heads is just a part of who we are. It is almost a constant in our lives that most of the time we probably don't even consider, since it's just a fact of life. Today we examine the subject and try to figure out why sometimes it seems to come from somewhere else instead of from within. Cheers!!!
This week, the fellas spend some time recapping their recent race/weekend getaway on one of the beautiful Lake Erie Islands… AKA Put-In-Bay. It also may or may not have had something to do with the reason we missed recording last week and contributed to our 80% of the time ALL the time promise. Good times were had by all, and we all made it back in one piece. Slightly haggard, slightly sunburnt, slightly stoopid, and slightly more piratey than the last time we hit the water and raced the annual Toledo Yacht Club Mills Cup Race. Also for all you Roller Coaster lovers out there, Tyner The Pirate Chef has just returned from a trip to the best Amusement Park ON THE PLANET!!! Cedar Point… America's Roller Coast. The place just gets better and better with each passing year (except for the spinny rides, those can kick rocks). Cheers!!!
Maannnn, I've been putting off writing this for quite some time. It took so long for us to address our propensity to procrastinate, that this episode should have happened somewhere in the 60-70 episode range. Today the boys finally faced the issue that The Pirate Chef claims to be one of his biggest shortcomings. Procrastination is an interesting subject. It can really be a problem if it is a chronic occurrence. Some people never do it, some do it constantly. Regardless it has probably affected all of us at one point in our lives. If you put off listening to this episode, we get it. Just promise that you'll get to it eventually... Cheers!!!
Comedy Chaos… This week the fellas explore a subject that at its core is meant for one thing, to make us LAUGH! If that is the case, then why oh why do so many people get offended by comedy in certain cases? Its happened plenty of times in the past, but nowadays seems to really be magnified and more and more has found its way to the forefront of news headlines and talks around the water cooler. We hypothesize that maybe just maybe, it is because comedy does such a good job of pointing out the intricacies of life, and that someone with a bit less thick a skin may feel a joke hit way too close to home… so LIGHTEN UP!!! Laugh a little, and join us this week to realize that life is a joke… and it's on us. CHEERS!!!
If conspiracies are crazy, why are they true? Today we tackle a list of a dozen “Conspiracies” that have turned out to be true (at least to some extent) as time has passed by. NOW… This was a Readers Digest article and these theories were in some cases pretty vanilla or “no duh” when it comes to the deep dark subject of conspiracy. But we managed to find ourselves in some deep waters critiquing the subjects on this list. So please kick back, relax, and enjoy some good ol' tin foil hat conspiracy conversation. CHEERS!!!
Well folks, today may be where this show takes a turn into the deep and never comes back. Pirate Chef Tyner even received a call from a mysterious man telling him to dial back the red pill truth bombs he was serving up OR ELSE!!! Or that may have been a little white lie. But the lies we discuss today aren't little and they are not white. They are lies that are specifically told in order to make the masses believe or act in a certain way. Whether the direction it leads you is for good or bad, that is up to you to decide. But it is apparent at this point that there is definitely a narrative being sold and we as the inhabitants of this world are spooning it up like superman ice cream. So sit back, listen up, and decide for yourselves which side the agents of disinformation the Shit Gets Deep crew is playing for. CHEERS!!!
Spring, sprang, spring… this week we discussed all things Spring. The season, when everything comes back to life after a long winter. At least for those of us in the northern hemisphere. Topics included a few of our favorite activities that return to full swing (no pun intended) once the warmth and sunshine return. So please, join us and enjoy this week's discussion on springtime. Cheers!!!
Being a good person seems like it should be the simplest of goals to accomplish. And being mindful of a couple simple things seems like that will get the job done. However after this conversation, some of us… (The Pirate Chef in particular) couldn't help realizing that part of being a good person, is to continually be working on yourself. There are always improvements that can be made. NOW, did TPC spiral into uncomfortable introspection and a self-loathing puddle of regrets every step of the way while recording this episode while Just Scott just sat and watched? YEP! But change never comes from being comfortable, and having your ego in check and your mind focused on the positive things in life will go a long way to help all of us become that person we strive to be. So PLEASE be kind, spread love, be honest, and treat others the way you would like to be treated, and maybe just maybe we come out of this all right. CHEERS!!!You know we love our Luxe Bidet because we talk about it every episode! Here's a link to get you 10% off your order, we just installed the Luxe Bidet 185 plus (Chrome) in the studio and absolutely recommend it! https://luxebidet.com/?ref=MQy6k6SITVV7 Or use coupon code SHITGETSDEEPPODCAST10 at checkout
Today's episode was a special one for the fellas and their guest. Because this particular subject is one that has moved them, figuratively and literally, their whole lives. From our mother's heartbeats, to the thundering of a drum set at our final concert, beats and rhythm provide an underlying soundtrack to the majority of our lives. We dove deep into actual drumming and its intricacies. And also just about every other angle of percussion we could muster over the course of our conversation. So spin a stick, slam that crash cymbal, and join us for today's talk on Drums.
First and foremost THANK YOU! Each and every one of you, for being here with us today, for what can only be described as a milestone we have all achieved as a collective. Each and every one of you and all our guests throughout the last couple years who have been here for all our hijinks, hiccups, highlights, lowlights, and everything in between THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts. THE CENTURY MARK, numero 100!!! Today, we had the pleasure of getting the band back together and Joshua, Cody, Tyner, and Scott sat down to recap and reminisce about the previous 99 episodes we have put forth. There were many shout-outs to be had, times to be remembered, and of course… a couple ghost stories because Cody and Joshua just can't stop buying haunted houses. AND NOW… COMING TO YOU FROM THE WESTERN BASIN OF LAKE ERIE, WE PROUDLY PRESENT TO YOU…. SHIT, GETS, DEEP… Episode 100. Cheers!!!
Much like a couple of episodes ago when Just Scott claimed to not know anything about MMA, one of the guys didn't think they had much knowledge on today's subject at hand. But that DIDN'T stop Tyner The Pirate Chef from blabbering on about things he realized were relevant while the guys were in the middle of today's conversation. (Did you really expected anything else?) And today we're talking sound…. All things sound. Of course we found our way into the realm of music, how could we not? But also devolved quickly into the realization that sound, much like everything else, is just waves and the frequency of those waves being interpreted by our quantum flesh computers. Hopefully you like the way this week sounds. Episode #99 Comin' in HOT! Cheers!!!
Jah will provide you with all good things. And Jah also inspired Just Scott and The Pirate Chef to provide you with an episode discussing one of their favorite Genres of music. Reggae baby! Call it Island music, feel good music, whatever you'd like. But if a little reggae and a cold drink in your hand with your toes in the sand doesn't bring a smile to your face…. we here at the Shit Gets Deep Podcast say GO KICK ROCKS ya Bombaclot! Today we took the time to give a brief history of and deep dive into the world of Reggae Music. And honestly we can't believe it has taken us this long to focus on Reggae (Not to be confused with Reggie, there are too many famous Reggie's apparently) which has influenced countless artists from other genres of music since its early days in the 1960s. So please, get yourself a meat pocket, some jerk chicken, a Red Stripe (maybe a big fat spliff if that's your thing), and pop in an 8 track of Toots and the Maytals to take yourself to a sunny positive place. The King Bob Marley said it best, “Just can't live that negative way, make way for the positive day.” CHEERS!!!
This week's episode has been in the works for quite some time. And MAN it feels good to finally have gotten this week's guest into Studio B for some conversation, insight and of course some laughs. Thanks to promotions like the UFC, Bellator, and One FC, Mixed Martial Arts has become one of the most popular sports/spectacles in a short period of time. And Tyner The Pirate Chef has been an avid/rabid fan since day one. Just Scott on the other hand, likes West Ham United and all other sports can kick rocks. What better way to school Science Scott, and entertain our listeners than to have a guest who knows a thing or two about combat sports of all sorts. Leroy BIG Johnson has fought for several promotions including Bellator, PFL, and WXC. He also has competed in wrestling through the collegiate level, had an interesting Romanian Kick Boxing bout (tune in to hear about that one), and likes to roll in some Jiu Jitsu tournaments as well. Being that he just happens to be The Pirate Chef's Brother-In-Law, the two of them have some stories between them that TPC was DYING to tell on the podcast. So please, strap in and join us for some fisticuffs, grappling, and good conversation. LETS GET IT ON!!! Cheers!!!
This week the fellas felt like it had been a good while since a freestyle session had taken place. Which was all gravy, but Just Scott had other plans. Unbeknownst to Tyner The Pirate Chef, Just Scott had a couple few questions in store for Ol' Pirate Chef, and the tangents and angles those questions took the duo will not disappoint. A sampling of some of the subjects that were covered… Chuck Norris, Nachos, Durian/Dog The Bounty Hunter's dirty balloon knot, Robots on Acid, World Records, Hiccups, AND the double pipe classic dilemma. If none of this makes sense to you, it shouldn't. However, if you come along for the ride with us this week, it will all be cleared up by the time the end credits roll. A special thanks to John Lilly's crazy ass for inventing the sensory deprivation chamber and doing intravenous Ketamine and LSD while telepathically communicating with horny dolphins (TPC will clear that up for you as well). As always, Love y'all…. Cheers!!!
Psychological experiments can be looked at several ways. Especially when considering the reasons they are being conducted. Is it for the enrichment of people, to better understand what it is that makes us tick or what could help us be happier? Or is it to understand how we think, and how we can be manipulated into certain behavioral patterns? Maybe benevolent, maybe sinister, or maybe just for the sake of science. The first true psychological experiments were thought to be performed by Wilhelm Wundt in 1879, and since then countless studies have taken place. One such experiment was conducted by Stanley Milgram and it produced some WILD results. The testing took place in the early 1960's with the purpose of testing peoples obedience to authority figures, and the resulting outcome was nothing short of shocking (there's a pun here, tune in to enjoy). So please, join us for the ride as we go down the rabbit hole on how humans react to authority figures and the propensity to obey when you are told to do so. It should give you all some insight to things that are still taking place in our current state of affairs. THEY LIVE might just be a documentary… CHEERS!!!
In life, we all decide which direction we take in the “choose your own adventure book” that becomes known as our life's path. Nobody does it quite like the next person. And even if you try to follow in someone else's footsteps, chances are you're not going to end up at the same destination anyhow. This week's episode, the boys decide to explore the notion of how sometimes the smallest thing sends one's life on a tangent that forever changes who they are and where they end up. And also have some fun recollecting their own lives paths and how hindsight is certainly 20/20 when looking in the rear view mirror. Hopefully you can enjoy looking back on your ride, and smile about where you are currently. And with some luck, stare down your future and end up just where you wanted to be. Cheers!!!
The time honored tradition of sport and competition happens every 4 years in the spectacle we refer to as the Olympics. In the not so recent past, the Olympics were a HUGE part of the news cycle and garnered the attention of most of us for the better part of a month. We loved the build up! The torch may have made its way through your town, and there was a focus placed on the games in all forms of media. It was splattered across the headlines of local and national newspapers, Olympians graced the covers of all the major magazines, and the nightly news was Olympic heavy for the month leading up to the games and then most likely several weeks afterward recapping the recent events. So we ask…. WHAT THE HECK HAPPENED? Maybe Just Scott and Tyner The Pirate Chef are just out of touch and not paying attention, but the Olympics seem to have lost some of their luster. Gone are the days of Bart Connor and Mary Lou Retton being national heroes and the focus of conversation at dinner tables around the country. Join us this week to remember what the Olympics once were, and try to figure how they have fallen out of the limelight in the blink of an eye. Light up that giant torch and enjoy, CHEERS!!!
Who enjoys having their brain melted by facts and figures that explain the very reality we exist in? Or finding out that the only way to travel to far distant galaxies is to bend space and time to circumvent the pesky speed of light dilemma? Soooo many questions, and oddly enough our guest today… returning for his second SGD appearance… Todd “The String Supreme” Kundrat not only had the answers to those questions, he was able to back those answers up with SCIENCE and Mathematics! It's definitely a far cry from the last time Todd joined us to talk about all things Punk Music (Episode #49 Punk Rock 101) but hey, nobody likes driving in just one lane. Variety is the spice of life! So please, join us on a journey through the cosmos, wrapped in String Theory, and drenched in the sweat pouring off The Pirate Chef's brow as his ears were smoking due to the grinding gears of his underpowered brain. Today SHIT GETS DEEP quite literally. So please, enjoy the show. CHEERS!!
Old man winter showed up in the Western Basin of Lake Erie and finally did not disappoint us with the amount of snow and cold he brought with him. Tyner The Pirate Chef braved the elements and in the midst of the storm, and somehow (using 4x4) made it down to Studio B to get this week's episode in. We definitely didn't want to leave you all episodeless for a week, so we discussed our current meteorological situation. Who doesn't love a SNOW DAY!?! Now… did we veer off the winter path and talk about Food and Music the whole time??? Yes we did (seems to be pretty standard for us at this point). Anyhow, bundle up… hop on your snow machine… and put er in low eh? It's winter conditions. Cheers!!!
In our first conversation about Antarctica a couple weeks ago, we covered the incredible natural occurrences and unbelievable features of the continent we know as Antarctica. Nature's wonder is incredible all by itself (without even a mention of Nazi bases and entrances to center earth). Aside from a bit of talk about Operation Highjump, we attempted to keep things on the straight and narrow for the most part. We held our tongues about the craziness that has long been discussed in certain circles as “known facts” or at least researchable rumors. There are definitely some bread crumbs and Reese's Pieces that can be followed that produce some pretty incredible results once you connect some dots. So, yeah…. we know we are speaking some wild, out there, speculative “facts” on today's episode. And yeah, we also know that sometimes the sensationalism of Alien crafts under the ice and Arctic Pyramid complexes is too far out there for the majority of the general population. BUT THAT'S NOT WHAT WE DO!!! So please, put on one of Troy's Tin Foil Hats… and dive deep with us into what promises to be one of the weirdest, wildest, most out there, and most conspiracy soaked episodes we have ever recorded. So please, enjoy the ride… Pindar is waiting to meet you at the end of this one, sweet Hugo Boss outfit and all. Cheers!!!
Buckle up buttercups, today we chose to venture into the land of awake vs. asleep. In a completely philosophical sense of course. A true study in perspective. Are you sleeping or are you awake? The Awake vs. Asleep debate is used as a euphemism for how you decide to stroll through life. Do you tend to put on blinders and walk with the herd, or do you sit on the overlook and observe the herd's movements (usually wondering…. Why in the world would they do that!)? It seems that today, there are a lot of people who are opening their eyes for the very first time. And once you have done so, it becomes more and more obvious when you interact with someone who has yet to crack open an eyelid. Things have seemed to go full speed ahead into the land of life being stranger than fiction, and it seems to have really jolted a large group out us out of our sweet sweet ignorant slumber. And is ignorance bliss? That is truly the other side of the equation. Everyone falls somewhere on the spectrum of what they chose to see, not see, or unsee. And after this discussion, Science Scott and Tyner The Pirate Chef were sure of one thing… being awake definitely has its pitfalls, and being asleep might just be the easier path to walk. Which way do you chose? Please, join us and decide for yourself. CHEERS!!!
Antarctica, the frozen continent, the most barren landscape known to man…. There's nothing down there except Ice, several scientific research based outposts, a waterfall that flows with the blood of tortured souls, and penguins. OR IS THERE…. Of course we know Antarctica is a wild place, maybe the wildest of them all. Perhaps it is our lack of knowledge on the place which makes it so intriguing to those of us who have heard the rumors. Or tales of strange phenomena taking place around or on this uninhabited continent. Really, when it comes right down to it, and if you've been paying attention. We don't know much, and we aren't told much, because nobody is allowed in! Or over for that matter, it's a pretty exclusive club. We also know that thanks to friend of the show Pires Reis, someone not all that long ago, knew of Antarctica in a time BEFORE there was a nice frosting of ice several miles deep covering the southern pole and surrounding areas. There are many many odd things about that large swath of land way way down under. Come join in on the fun this week as Science Scott and The Pirate Chef try to unravel some of its mysteries. And of course also throw out some wild speculation about things we have absolutely no idea about. Cheers!!!
As per usual, the fellas ventured back into deep waters this week with an episode about something that most everyone… if not all of us have probably wondered about since we were kids. How and why did someone or something, create beautiful geometric shapes into golden fields of grains. Some designs are more elementary. Yet some are so complex it takes a mathematical scholar to decipher what message is hidden within the large work of agricultural art that somehow was “printed” (for lack of better terms) onto terra firma. Various theories exist, the most obvious being that Aliens did it. And there have also been pranksters who have claimed to have done every single crop circle since 1976. Sure there's copycats out there, and sure those fellows probably did a few themselves. But once you dive a little deeper and realize that not all crop circles are created equally, that's when the fun really starts. Come along and join us for this week's episode, and make up your mind for yourself. Cheers!!!
Greetings and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! 2022 is obviously going to be the best year ever so we decided to start it off with a bang. Episode #86 will not disappoint, our guest should probably have been on the show before now, but late to arrive is better than never right? We are joined by our pal Scott to form the podcast Voltron of Scott Squared and The Pirate Chef. We covered a lot of ground, ranging from Scott's previous life as a podcaster in the early days of podcasting, to the band that TPC, Just Scott and Other Scott played in together one winter for shits and giggles. Much fun was had, many topics were covered, and most of all. WE'RE BACK!!! And we are feeling good about a new year and a fresh start. So please, enjoy and of course… CHEERS!!!
Well, What can we say folks... We had some extremely esteemed guests on for our year end special. OBVIOUSLY our Beyond The Tracks Podcast Brother TJ had to be a repeat guest and part of our second annual year end spectacular, but he also brought on his co host The Infamous R.O. and the guest of honor Mikey Shu for our conversational pleasure. Mikey is the best hypeman in the biz for his company 8 Mile Vodka (Which we may or may not have imbibed on heavily) We got an awesome insight on how things have come about for Mikey and this awesome new company. And also got some fantastic stories about everything music related from DJ Godfather to Jelly Roll. If you hang around till the end you can hear the most intense 2Pac vs. Jay Z discussion (maybe more than discussion) than has ever been had on wax... Cheers!!!!
Take a trip with the boys down the current lane of travel… the holiday season. Today, we discuss all things holiday, fail at grasping other religion's traditions and customs, make light of the accidental early demise of an elf on the shelf, and much more. Probably NOT the episode to listen to whilst driving in your car with the kids in the back seat. There may have been several Christmas spoilers laid out in this one, or possibly ALL the Christmas spoilers. But Don't blame us for being the ones to break it to your children that the Jolly Fat One is merely a figment of their imagination. You've been warned, so if you're Amish, pull up a chair to your electric fireplace heater… and enjoy some hot cocoa while we once again realize that EVERYTHING is a conspiracy, even Christmas. Cheers!!!
Eloquent, entertaining, enlightenment. This man had a real way with words, and possibly his finest attribute was his ability to make you think in ways you hadn't considered previously. Today's episode is one we consider massively past due. This fellow has been referenced numerous times in the past episodes we have recorded, but honestly the guy needed an entire episode dedicated to him our love for Alan Watts. Did we spend an inordinate amount of time verbally blowing the guy for his insights and viewpoints? YES WE DID… But with good reason! A modern philosopher, and possibly the individual who single handedly gave the western world the Cliff Notes version of eastern mysticism and religious viewpoints. Alan Watts was a true Gem. Hopefully we were able to give him his due, and maybe we introduce you to his brilliance so he may posthumously affect how you view and interact with the world as well. Cheers!
When it comes to music, the boys will never run out of angles to discuss and ponder upon. But this episode we tried to focus on the individuals who have changed the path of culture and society with their musical contributions. Some in more of a cult of personality way than others, some strictly through their music, but what it came down to was certain people's propensity to be undeniable with their talents. Someone who's light shines so bright you can't help but stare right into it. We take a moment to reflect on all the folks that have inspired us, and generations of others through the medium of music. Cheers!!
Every day we have little things that happen to us which mostly go unnoticed, but later on stick out as something being just a little off. Weather, it was something out of place, something happening twice almost the exact same way, something that just turns up out of nowhere after being lost, or things that you swear have already taken place, and just happened to happen again making you question your sanity. Most of the time, it is plausible that it really is just our minds playing tricks on us. But other times, the black cat walks past the doorway twice in the exact manner and it makes all the hair on your neck stand up. These little “glitches” are fun to think about when they sporadically happen, but when you're on a run of them happening more frequently, you sometimes just have to throw your hands up and assume you have tapped into the code and you are getting a bit too close to the ring. So pay a bit closer attention, keep an eye out for these Déjà vu moments, and keep track of the glitches that seemingly randomly have you scratching your head wondering whether you are losing your marbles. Join us on our little venture into what makes these moments important and how they can affect you as they take place. Cheers!
Throughout history there have been plenty of archeological discoveries that have shocked the world in amazement. There have also been a handful that have left everyone scratching their heads. This week the SGD boys dive into several of those that leave just about everyone wondering... what exactly happened here and where does this fit in into the time line of things. Out of place artifacts pop up throughout our history enough times that one must really re think the events that have preceded us and where exactly do they fit in. The London Hammer, the Drope Stones, and the Saqqara Bird are just a few of the interestingly out of place items that find their way into this weeks conversation. Please, join us for a little stroll down the road littered with misunderstood mystery items and come up with your own hypothesis as to where and more importantly WHEN these pieces of our past came from. CHEERS!
This week's episode gets a bit out there, but it starts rooted in FACT. Today the fellas discuss... things, events, places, occurances, that have most definitely happened or existed. The basic gist of the thing is there but some of the story is either muddy or still classified in some cases. But there are plenty of things that many people dismiss as conspiracy, or heresay, but when given a closer look appear to have quite a bit of substance behind the story. Join us for an entry level look at some plans, places, and secret operations that just might be completely true... or not. Definitely don't take our word for it. And DON'T contact us at any of our socials. CHEERS!!!
The pirate chef is broken and would do anything to get fixed and back (no pun intended) on the good side of father times effects. Long story short, he's old, and rickety, and is having trouble with the old spinal column and surrounding tissue. That being said, there are many ways to get patched back up and on our merry way, just by using some time honored methods that most likely use ingredients you already have around the house, or from a quick trip to any supermarket. Sure it's Hippy Dippy, sure it's Woo Woooo, sure it is Nature Boy.... BUT IT WORKS!!! Most of the time, all the time. And we don't care why. So please enjoy some stories of some unfortunate injuries, and some little bio hacks that can get ya feelin better in a hurry. Enjoy yourselves.
East vs West, who did it better? A question for the ages and definitely 2 distinctly different flavors. Now The irony of this week's episode is not lost on us. Two middle aged white dudes, waxing philosophical on hip hop/rap. But for us, the peak of the East coast vs West coast “feud” was smack dab in the middle of our most influential years. Rap music was more mainstream than it ever had been. Biggie vs Pac was front page news, and the line in the sand was drawn between the gritty, in your face New York centric sound and the slightly more laid back grooves of the west coast. Join us this week as we break down the impossible debate. CHEERS!
Greetins Cretans, It's been a loooong time since the fellas have dove into a Simulation specific episode... Since Episode 14 in fact. Yet here we find ourselves 60 some episodes later, still trying to wrap our pea brains around the absolutely fascinating fact that we may quite possibly be living in a computer based reality, projecting our perceived existence onto a holographic field of electrically charged particles. Which at this point should be every bit as believable as the current state of affairs. BUT we won't let that get us down, we will just attempt to entertain y'all by giving you our two cents on the matter.... CHEERS!
So normally we freestyle and meander through subjects, but this time we actually kinda focused on traveling and where we would like to/are planning on going. BUT one thing was different. Our distinguished guest of honor tonight was none other than our BOY... CDC/Look it up Cody/Club foot Cody/Cough Drop Cody the OG. It was great to have him back on the mic with the crew. So Join us on our journey from the east coast to the west, plenty of Vegas talk, straight up Sin City. Get out and travel folks, see some things that might change your perspective. Cheers!!!
The Nang Nang Gang unites to talk about all things 2 wheels. This week Motorcycles are the hot topic and everyone has a toe in the pool. We welcome back our boy from waaaaay back on episode #17 "Ramblin' Down The Road" to discuss the Bike Life. If you've ever found yourself behind a set of handlebars, buzzing down an open road, you know the feeling of freedom two wheels and a motor can give you. Hopefully we can remind you of a time in your life you had as much fun as we all have, twistin the throttle and letting the good times roll. Born To Be Wild plays in the background as we fade into the sunset, ridin wheelies and doing burnouts. CHEERS!!!
This week TPC and Just Scott have to really stretch their intellect to discuss something they know very little about. This completely foreign subject had the duo's heads spinning just like so many people who imbibe the sweet sweet nectar which was the topic of discussion. ALCOHOL!!! Love it or hate it, enjoy it or avoid it, booze has been a part of the human existence for thousands of years. We briefly cover some of its historical roots, discuss it's different forms, and of course tell some good ol' drinking stories from years gone by. Crack open a bottle and enjoy the show. CHEERS!!!
Today in the volatile state of the world, one can only assume we're just a stone's throw away from devolving into The Purge... no really. Thank goodness for listener submissions, so today we discuss all the angles of what life would be during a "No Rules Day" sanctioned by the Government of course. Who else could or would be responsible for such an event other than the U.S. Government? Do you hunker down, and play defense? Do you go full ham and maraud to your heart's content? Join us on our little thought experiment, and try and decide what type of psycho you are. Cheers!
Episode 71!!! This week the fellas burn it right down to the ground. You all know we love talking about food, and one thing we can all agree on is the spice is nice! Hot food has been a favorite culinary lane for us, and this week we delve into all things hot and edible. Weather it is some crazy spicy Thai food, or the best Jerk Jamaica has to offer, we are IN when it comes to appreciating the tongue tingling, drool inducing, sinus draining sizzle that spicy hot food has to offer. We start out the second half with a "Da Bomb" hot sauce taste test, and try to finish the show with burning tongues. Join us for the love of all that is spicy!
Let's start out by saying... WE ARE NOT WELL VERSED ON THIS SUBJECT. That being said, we have referenced it countless times and it intrigues us to no end. The Anunnaki and all the possibilities of the mythology really has a pretty decent foot to stand on based on its merits. Maybe we are all just little gold mining lemmings. One thing is for sure, the ancient art and the Sumerian texts that reference the gods of heaven and earth seem to have some sort of reference to things we don't quite understand. Hopefully you enjoy our chat about it and maybe you take the opportunity to look into it a bit for yourselves. CHEERS!
We're here. The number you can't let by without cracking a smile and giving a chuckle. Why is it that 69 is synonymous with the taboo? Today the boys discuss all things taboo. From porn and the place it lies in society, to all the things we were not supposed to talk about without getting your mouth rinsed out with a bar of soap. Needless to say, The Pirate Chef and Science Scott's barometers vary widely, but who's don't? The point lies in the perspective. What do you deem Kosher and why? Does anybody else see things just like you? Odds are... yes, and you will certainly be able to find your tribe on the internet somewhere. CHEERS FOLKS!!! 69 Hahahahaha.
The fellas decided to treat this episode like a boat without a rudder. We wandered through the fascinating world of Carnies (with all due respect, we love ya'll and hope that carnie hasn't been deemed a slur yet in our PC existance), also the subject we just can't seem to escape... FOOD, restaurant life, and much more tomfoolery. Join us, hit that thumbs up button, and hit subscribe to be a peach. We really do love you all, thanks for comin' along for the ride!
The Do It Yourself attitude has all but gone to the wayside. This week's episode the fellas discuss how rewarding and fun it can be to do tackle a project that doesn't have any instructions or plans to show you the way. Just come up with a goal and work yourself towards it. Did we get off topic and talk about food 17 times? Yes, but we also decided food also falls under the DIY umbrella if you're cookin' from scratch. Come along with us for episode 67 as we cover as much of the Do It Yourself spectrum as we could manage. CHEERS!
This week the Duo Tang Clan of Just Scott and The Pirate Chef get DEEP into the wormhole on UFOs otherwise known as UAPs Unidentified Aerial Phenomena. Lately we have seen an avalanche of videos and news reports of strange things happening in the sky. Turns out it's been going on for hundreds of years. Join us and enjoy our conversation on the murky waters of the UFO fact vs fiction quest. CHEERS
Here we go exploring the weird ass realm known as the dream state. -Cheers
