Kliq This: The Kevin Nash Podcast

This week on Kliq This, Kevin Nash returns from the road with stories you won't want to miss — including a run-in with the viral sensation Angry Grandma and a peek behind the curtain at Astro Comic-Con. What happens when you mix a wrestling legend, some Juggalos, and a weekend in Ypsilanti? Let's just say… it gets colorful. With WrestleMania right around the corner, Kev breaks down his upcoming trip to Las Vegas: WrestleCon, Hall of Fame, and a few private signings that might just make some headlines. But don't expect him in the legends box — and don't ask him to pretend he enjoys Vegas crowds. This is Big Sexy unfiltered, and he's got some thoughts. Of course, we can't talk Mania season without addressing the elephant in the ring: the assassination of John Cena. Is WWE mishandling their biggest crossover star? Did they just bury a potential dream match? Kevin has a strong take — and it might not be what you expect. From Bron Breakker spears to whether Cody Rhodes is actually a heel in disguise, this episode digs into WWE's hottest storylines — but through the lens only Nash can provide. We're also talking MyRise in WWE 2K25, what makes a good promo, and why scripted segments are slowly sucking the soul out of wrestling. And if you're wondering what happens when Nash sees someone so stunning he forgets his Red Stripe? Or why he still cringes at modern promos delivered like monologues at a community theater audition? You'll want to hear every word. Kliq This drops every Monday — don't be late to the party. Ideas, experiments, imagination. So, what was the optimum Britpop™️ year? Academics, thinkers and BBC documentary makers have wrestled over this question for many a year. Possibly even as long as it takes to listen to Be Here Now.1993 - Yanks, go home?1994 - Maybe, perhaps definitely?1995 - Different class, I'd suggest? So where were we by the spring of 1996? Three years of evolution, trademarked Beatles and Kinks mimicking, and countless cans of Red Stripe had taken it's toll. Would it be perceived wisdom, or 21st century hallowed hindsight, to suggest the original spark of Britpop was beginning to flicker as the winds of pop change were ‘spicing' themselves up in the wings? There's no doubt that the all conquering 94/95 pop of Pulp, Supergrass, blur and Oasis were still casting a huge Union Jack shaded shadow over the charts. But, oh, there was so much more! (We've been here before, haven't we?)Big dance acts! (Some faceless, some disguised as wrestlers!)Big pop acts (Some a bit cheesy, some disguised as Eternal and Lighthouses!)Big legacy acts (Some a bit past it, some disguised as Queen, some having soap stars being sick in their hair!)But lest we forget, as 1996 got underway and the first BIG NOW of the year presented 4o Top Chart Hits for our delectation - whether your ‘flava' was pop, rock, dance or hippy - there was an unbridled swagger and confidence to the music. The decade had shaken off any allusions of baggy or grunge and was telling us we could indeed live forever. Viva Forever, as some might (and indeed will) say! Join author and all round 90s pop kid Neil Collins as we revisit NOW33 and the spring of 1996. 'Neil's new book International Velvet: How Wales Conquered the 90s Charts revisits the unforgettable Cool Cymru era when the Manics, Catatonia, Stereophonics, Super Furry Animals, Gorky's Zygotic Mynci and many more won over the masses!Along the way rediscover how TV adverts were still providing a soundtrack to our denim purchases and drink breaks. How dads were very well catered for in the mid 90s (rock bands, not Louise!), what cassettes were in Neil's parents car as they attempted to break the traffic system of Paris, and why NOW33 has the best ending of ANY compilation EVER. And there's even honourable mentions for the Smurfs and Robson & Jerome! Don't look back in (too much) anger! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

But it was really because I had to give myself a mental pep talk during COVID, when I had spent all this time building something, and to virtually see it go to zero overnight. Luckily, I was able to bounce back." –“Iron” Mike Steadman, USNA ‘10 "Iron" Mike Steadman is a dynamic entrepreneur, business coach, and brand builder who specializes in helping “underdogs” and “misfits” launch successful brands. A graduate of the United States Naval Academy and former Marine Corps infantry officer with deployments to Afghanistan, Japan, and the Philippines, Mike is also a three-time national boxing champion. He is the founder of the nonprofit IRONBOUND Boxing as well as the business and consulting companies IRONBOUND Media, Flawless Acceleration, and The MisFits Branding & Design Co. Mike is also the author of Black Veteran Entrepreneur, and he's working on his second book, Dog Whistle Branding. In addition, he hosts two podcasts. Mike says he became “Iron” Mike during the COVID pandemic when he had to keep his newly opened boxing gym alive despite shutdowns and little support. As a Hoover Veteran Fellow at Stanford University and a mentor for Techstars, he's made it his mission to support and empower underrepresented entrepreneurs. Mike's diverse experience and resilient spirit fuel his mission to "lift as he climbs," helping others overcome adversity and build impactful businesses and brands. In this episode, we discuss: How Mike transitioned from a three-time national boxing champion to a multifaceted business owner who empowers underrepresented entrepreneurs. Mike's entrepreneurial journey from founding the nonprofit IRONBOUND Boxing to weathering the storms of the COVID-19 pandemic shutdowns, how he got through it, and why he gave himself the nickname "Iron" Mike. How Mike went on to found other businesses, including IRONBOUND Media and The MisFits Branding & Design Co., offering services in branding, marketing, and business coaching. The importance of category design in marketing, using examples like Red Stripe's "Jamaican beer" category to illustrate how businesses can create their own niches. His first big deal, which set the stage for The MisFits' business model and suite of services. The importance of creating adaptive brand identities that can evolve as a business does. How his approach to business and branding emphasizes "creative bravery" and helping underdogs and misfits build impactful businesses. His mission to "lift as he climbs," supporting fellow entrepreneurs as he grows his own businesses. Digging with Flo

This is the last episode of Digging for a while, and we're celebrating with the queen of vegetables… potatoes! Flo is joined by CMAT for her favourite job on the allotment. CMAT is a fast rising singer songwriter from Ireland who has been tirelessly touring Europe and North America with her incredible live show for years now. She's just been nominated for the Mercury Prize, adding that to her list along with Ivor Novello and Brit nominations. The irony of having the only Irish guest of the season harvest potatoes is not lost on CMAT, who considered her superior harvest some form of reparation. In this episode she and Flo talk about pretty much everything, but highlights include CMAT's refreshing love of fame, growing beans in Red Stripe tins and the art of songwriting - all whilst they dig up those unfortunate potatoes. Splash Stories welcomes Chris Connelly talking from his home in Chicago for a memorable musical memoir amongst the streets the guts and the character of Edinburgh. His latest 8 track album 'The Lives and Loves of the Serial Homesick, Vol. 1'  is a paean to his city- and a beautiful and profound one at that - capturing the essence of his love for it through his music his art and his heartfelt lyricism.. Each album comes with its own drawing created by Connelly himself. In Connelly's words : " the album is rich with strong feelings of then and now, memories that may or may not be accurate, locations, events, friends and lovers. I want the listener to walk with me quietly through endless days and nights, through the streets of Edinburgh in the early 1980s, over the tenement rooftops, up the hills with cans of Red Stripe and a well stoked hash pipe. Sitting in the Wee Red Bar, Bannermans, The Gilded Balloon, or the Royal Circus. Playing endless nights of music with my beloved Fini Tribe, dancing at the Hoochie Coochie Club. I miss it badly and have never felt at home anywhere except Edinburgh, where my soul continues to walk the New Town streets and climb the hills,"Check it all out and enjoy his reminiscences too in our Splash Stories conversation'Fini Chagall' https://youtu.be/JWBTtdYPDqM'The Lives and Loves of the Serial Homesick, Vol. 1' albumhttps://chrisconnelly.bandcamp.com/album/the-lives-and-loves-of-the-serial-homesick-volume-1Spotify https://open.spotify.com/album/4jknruEhGgIBakqdA381lWApple Music https://music.apple.com/us/album/the-lives-and-loves-of-the-serial-homesick-vol-1/1733352012Amazonhttps://www.amazon.com/music/player/albums/B0CWN3WW9RLATEST RELEASES'The Birthday Poems' album feat. Welcome to #Millennial, the home of pretend adulting and real COFFEE talk! Spencer Mahoney of Atomic Coffee Roasters joins us to talk all things coffee business, blowing up on TikTok, craft coffee culture, and more! Whether you're a caffeine aficionado or a total newbie, Spender has recommendations for what and how you can order your next cup o' joe. Do we really need to go to a craft shop to get a solid brew, or can we make the magic happen at home? Do indie or "hipster" coffee shops intimidate everyone, or just us? Spencer makes recommendations to US based on our preferred flavor profiles! How do we prefer our coffee? On the scale of "black like my soul" to "dessert", we're closer to wanting our coffee to taste like coffee. With the lingo that Pam is throwing down, Spencer confirms that Pam is a real barista who truly knows her stuff. When we're not caffeinating, what drinks are we looking forward to in the summer? (Diet Coke counts as caffeination Laura, PICK SOMETHING ELSE!) Our summer alcoholic beverages of choice: Truly (watermelon or grapefruit), High Noon pineapple vodka soda, and Red Stripe (hooray beer!) We want to name you listeners. Stay tuned. In this week's recommendations Pam and Laura prepare you for summer and Andrew joins the 21st century: protect your pets from the heat (or else Laura will break your car windows to rescue your furry friends), Vacation Super Spritz face mist (Pam), and the GoveeLife Smart Electric Kettle (Andrew). And in this week's installment of After Dark, available on Patreon and Apple Podcasts: We had so much fun with our "Surprise Bitch!" revival last week, we decided to call a few more people and ask... "What's your problem with Andrew? We're making a list." "If Pam and Laura were drowning and you could only save one, who would it be?" "What do you hate about the show?" Remember - If you can build a tribe of like-minded people, you never have to be alone again. Oh, and be warned - if you use the term 'Fam Bam' you're in trouble. Enjoy! SHOW NOTES Sober Awkward is proudly sponsored by About Choose Sunrise - https://choosesunrise.co.uk Choose Sunrise is founded on the belief that nobody should feel afraid to ask for help with alcohol use. After finding myself trapped in a cycle of trying (and failing) to moderate, blaming myself and being utterly terrified of asking for help, I finally found freedom from the alcohol trap in 2020. I haven't looked back. I now work with private clients and with businesses, supporting grey area drinkers to find the help that they deserve and need. As well as our flagship 101 Days to Sober online course, we have developed the Alcohol Safe Workplace® accreditation which encourages businesses to be much more proactive about educating and supporting their employees who run into difficulties with addiction as well as creating sober inclusive spaces, where everyone belongs, whatever they choose to drink. I'm also setting up a Sober Business Network, connecting like-minded sober entrepreneurs who want to collaborate and grow our businesses together…without the booze! My friends decided they wanted to go through all of Ian Fleming's James Bond films, so we are starting with Dr. No starring the one and only Sir Sean Connery. He was the first to portray the iconic character and played him in 6 films. I love these films! I even have a James Bond keychain that I got in Washington, D.C. at The Spy Museum that has 3 of his license plates. Dr. No Drinks (https://summerfruitcup.wordpress.com & https://www.bjtonline.com): Vodka Martini “One Medium-Dry Vodka Martini and mixed how you said Sir, and not stirred” Ingredients 3 oz Vodka 1/4 oz Vermouth Lemon Twist for garnish Ice Directions Fill a cocktail glass with ice. Set it aside. Fill your cocktail shaker (or a pint glass) about ¾ with ice. Add three ounces of vodka or simply add vodka to the top of the ice. (Bartenders' trick: fill the glass with water, then pour the water into your ice-filled shaker. This will determine your ”fill line.”) Add vermouth. A quarter-ounce splash should give you a medium-dry martini. Place the top onto your shaker (or your Boston-style shaker over your pint glass) and shake vigorously until frost forms on the shaker. Empty the ice from the glass and strain the martini into it. Garnish with a lemon twist and enjoy. Red Stripe Beer Hailing from Jamaica, where the film is set, there is little wonder that this is what they drink in Pussfellas Bar. Red Stripe was created by Desnoes & Geddes in 1928. Like the Martini Red Stripe is quite light and very refreshing with a warm hoppiness at the end, a little touch of citrus. The James Bond Gin & Tonic Bond ordered a double gin and tonic and one whole green lime. When the drink came he cut the lime in half, dropped the two squeezed halves into the long glass, almost filled the glass with ice cubes and then poured in the tonic. He took the drink out on to the balcony, and sat and looked out across the spectacular view. As ever a delicious drink that is tart but not overly so. I used Bombay Dry Gin (a very classic style of gin) and it works well although some may prefer to use a gin with a higher ABV. Even so few will be disappointed by this Bond Beverage. Drinking Rules (https://thechuggernauts.com): Take a sip whenever... Someone says “James” or “Bond” (Yes this would mean 3 drinks for the phrase “Name's Bond, James Bond”) Any agent's number (or letter) is mentioned. Such as 007, 006, M, Q, etc… Bond uses one of his gadgets given to him by Q (or anyone else at the agency) Someone gets shot Someone falls crashes Bond gets into his over-the-top car Anyone on screen sips alcoholDrink twice if it's a shaken Martini Take a huge chug whenever... There's a sex scene A chase scene starts Finish your drink whenever... Bond is successfully captured. There's a bit of a grey area in some films on if he was successfully captured, so let's just say any time he is taken somewhere at gunpoint, put in handcuffs, or ends up in a cell. As always, drink responsibly. Follow me on Instagram and Twitter @Line_Drunk, subscribe/follow on your favorite streaming service, tell your friends about the podcast and listen together. Today we took the time to give a brief history of and deep dive into the world of Reggae Music. And honestly we can't believe it has taken us this long to focus on Reggae (Not to be confused with Reggie, there are too many famous Reggie's apparently) which has influenced countless artists from other genres of music since its early days in the 1960s. So please, get yourself a meat pocket, some jerk chicken, a Red Stripe (maybe a big fat spliff if that's your thing), and pop in an 8 track of Toots and the Maytals to take yourself to a sunny positive place. We then finish up our middle segment by answering questions regarding relegation, which players we'd keep next season, and then we all shout “HOORAY VfB!” as we pit RustOleum versus Red Stripe in the battle to be the new sponsor VfB. In Part Three we predict the upcoming match at home versus Augsburg before giving our thoughts on the upcoming Mexica v. USA derby and give the kids a lesson - never take a banana to a banana tree fight. Confused? US TOO! Hooray VfB! Part One - 0-26:00 Part Two - 26:00-41:30 Part Three 41-30-end

In this episode, Matt and Travis get giddy over the first VfB win of 2022 and celebrate the return of the phrase "Sosa to Sasa!". In Part One, we talk the players, the support, and pretty much anything colored white and red and with a brustring before moving on to the match itself. Along the way we ask if the lineup is now set even without Mangala, ponder Coulibaly's bicycle kick attempt, discuss the fan support - or lack thereof - towards keeper Florian Müller, and this new thing called "good luck" before we wrap up with a look at the bottom of the table and the teams surrounding VfB. In Part Two, Matt gives us an update on the Discord fan scene, we dive into some questions regarding whether this match is a catalyst and whether the Curve made a difference, and then wrap up with some headline making news ... including wondering aloud "Why hasn't Red Stripe sponsored this team yet?" Part Three end's with a look at the upcoming match at Union Berlin where Matt makes a bold prediction after Travis praises himself for his TippKick skills before both question why anyone would listen to this podcast. WILL YOU?! Part One - 0-30:06 Part Two - 30:06-37:36 Part Three - 37:36-end

The lives of some 7,500 students and their families across Jamaica are being impacted by Red Stripe's No Mind Left Behind project. The goal of the project is to “foster academic excellence and personal development for youth, specifically focusing on young people, ages three to eighteen,” said Red Stripe's Head of Corporate Affairs, Dianne Ashton-Smith.The beer company, through its Desnoes & Geddes Foundation, provides this support through “increased access to educational tools, social interventions and experiential activities or excursions where possible,” Ashton-Smith pointed out. With the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Corporate Affairs Head noted that the Foundation recognized that there was a pressing need in the education sector brought about because of the COVID-19 pandemic. She pointed to learning loss and the heightened risk of student disengagement, particularly, for the most vulnerable, which can have long-lasting effects on their life outcomes, and their future economic growth and wellbeing, as major concerns.Impacting Jamaica's host Shelly-Ann Harris also speaks with Guidance Counsellor at the Academy of Yallahs High School, Sheldon Howell, who gives first-hand knowledge of just how this project is changing lives. Red Stripe's Head of Corporate Affairs Dianne Ashton-Smith is passionate about shaping a culture of responsibility and ensuring that parents have the tools to enable their children to say no to underage drinking. As one parent put it, “Sometimes we don't have the full information about the issues relating to underage drinking.”Through a programme, including the teaching of parents about their role in eliminating underage drinking, Ashton-Smith believes there can be change in attitudes to drinking in a country where a boy or girl under the age of 18 having a drink, is no big deal.“Parents are the first level of influence with their children. Children take their cues and their nurturing from their parents and so we feel it is important to give them these tools so they can have the right conversations,” said Ashton-Smith.Ashton-Smith discusses with Impacting Jamaica host Shelly-Ann Harris matters relating to under-age drinking and the wider issues of responsible drinking. Join us in this episode for the conclusion of my discussion with the amazing Paul C. Brunson, as we dive into everything from Oprah to family. Paul Carrick Brunson is a serial entrepreneur, television host, speaker, and author whose specialty lies in teaching others how to live and lead authentically. An internationally recognized expert in interpersonal relationships, personal development, and entrepreneurship, he currently serves as a featured business columnist for USA Today and co-host of UK's Celebs Go Dating television show. Major media outlets such as Good Morning America, the Oprah Winfrey Network, The Today Show, Nightline, and Black Enterprise have sought Paul's insights on everything from finding love to pursuing your passion. Named as a Top Voice on LinkedIn and one of the world's most influential matchmakers, Oprah said herself that, “Paul is much more than a matchmaker.” The heart of his work is centered on impacting lives through mentorship and developing a new generation of servant-leaders with a desire to change the world. Paul is the founder and chair of “Give Love, Build Hope” – a non-profit organization dedicated to transforming schools in rural areas of the Caribbean. A proud son of his native Jamaica, Paul's greatest achievements are in his roles of husband and father. When he's not serving the world, he's serving his family – likely with a Red Stripe beer in one hand and a good book in the other. In this episode, Paul and I are sharing: How a small time YouTube series led to a job co-hosting on TV with Oprah and ultimately a super successful matchmaking company The lessons he learned from other uber successful people that he has embodied into his own life How doing pro bono work when starting your business can actually pay off for you His family priorities and how he and his family are living life unconventionally as well The things that have allowed Paul and his wife to build and run multiple successful businesses and still have tons of time for quality time with their kids His ‘secret sauce” to relationships Paul's tips for how to get started and rock your own entrepreneurial journey His podcast playlist And so much more!
