Tyler Schaffner grew up around horses and cattle in South Dakota. He realized quickly that school and the trades weren't for him so he decided to come to Texas to be more involved with cattle and horses. Tyler has never met a stranger and was able to quickly build a network. With that and his work ethic he got presented some great opportunities. He's been heavily involved in the roping cattle industry and the horse industry and more recently in the yearling business. Seth Taylor is a perfect example of someone who saw an opportunity and took it. He was working for horse trainers and realized how important it was to keep good cattle around to work. He also was able to see that it was an opportunity to start a business. After some help and encouragement he was able to get started at the facility he was already at and through word of mouth and networking he has been able to expand. Today the operation has grown exponentially through doing a good job taking care of his customers and his cattle.Diversified Payments:https://www.diversifiedpayments.com/wealthycowboyThe Wealthy Cowboy Mastermind:https://www.skool.com/the-wealthy-cowboy-mastermind-1608/about
I'm excited to bring y'all a different dynamic with Bubba Thomas as he brings an interesting mix of business and ranching. Bubba Thomas grew up loving ranch life. When it came time to graduate high school he was unsure of the next step. After some discouragement from his guidance counselor and some guidance from some peers in the waiting area he decided to pursue nursing. He has spent years in the medical field and is now CEO of a rural hospital in cow country. It's not untypical to see several feed trucks in the parking lot at anytime. Bubba also is living his dream of ranching on his own and has learned a lot in the cattle business.Diversified Payments:https://www.diversifiedpayments.com/wealthycowboyThe Wealthy Cowboy Mastermind:https://www.skool.com/the-wealthy-cowboy-mastermind-1608/about

Harrison and Sterling Kothmann grew up around ranching, construction, and heavy equipment. This upbringing gave them the knowledge to build a successful equipment dealership and rental company, even though that wasn't their plan. They both took a little different paths in life and they both ended up getting the skills they needed to complement each other well in business. While Sterling learned a lot of skills at business school Harrison got a lot of real world experience in the construction industry and ended up starting the business. They've both used their skills to grow and expand the business through the years. Like a lot of business owners they learned a lot through trial and error and asking a lot of questions. Chuck Swisher thought he was going to be a skater but much to his dad's liking he decided to go down the path of bullfighting. Chuck went to the schools and got around the right people to learn his craft and then he just did it as much as possible. He started fighting at junior rodeos and buckouts and then amateurs and finally the pro rodeos. As he matured he realized he needed to not rely so heavily on his body and time for income especially in such a dangerous occupation. Before it was popular he realized that everyone needed to eat and most people wanted quality beef. Of course this business took off during Covid and is still growing. Chuck also found out about investing in real estate. He's building a portfolio of rentals and plans to expand that business also. With the right mindset and a work ethic he has found success in everything he's done.Diversified Payments:https://www.diversifiedpayments.com/wealthycowboyThe Wealthy Cowboy Mastermind:https://www.skool.com/the-wealthy-cowboy-mastermind-1608/about

After going to school at Texas Tech and meeting his wife he knew he needed to make a living somehow. After moving back to his family's place he decided he was going to ranch full time but after partnering on a real estate deal and showing it to prospective buyers he realized that's what his calling was. He didn't really know what he wanted to pursue as a career and ended up attending fashion school. That led him into an internship with a photographer. He fell in love with photography but wanted to branch out of fashion. He figured it all out after the first time he got to tag along to the RA Brown Ranch with some new friends he made. Jay Meadows had the opportunity to grow up with family that lived the cowboy life and family that were heavy into business. He decided to go to school while pursuing baseball but realized that he may not be good enough to make a career out of it so he went all in on learning business. After graduating he became a stock broker. He had plenty of things to learn about the business but he had the privilege of being naively optimistic and that allowed him to have a lot of success. He was forced to change careers and with the help of a strong network of mentors he was guided in the direction of mortgage fraud prevention, an industry that wasn't even invented yet. Once again Jay went all in and the company became a huge success. In his “retirement” he's still investing and looking for opportunity as well as living his dream ranching and team roping. There's truly a lot of lessons in this episode. Dillon Crumpler was addicted to horses from an early age. His family was in the cutting horse and farming business so he grew up around it. Dillon knew school wasn't for him so when he graduated high school he went straight to working in his family's cutting horse program. Like many young men he wanted to see something different so he went to work for another trainer and eventually became a head trainer under one owner and then became a full fledged independent trainer leasing a place and riding customer horses. He began to burn out over time being overworked and underpaid with all the stress of owning your own operation. He was able to find a new opportunity in turning out cattle on wheat pasture and got busy with that. Through that operation he was also able to find some grass leases that he turned cows out on. He's recently been able to get back to his passion and has started a cutting horse operation back up. One of the first ones was a big hit selling for 1 million dollars at the futurity sale.Diversified Payments:https://www.diversifiedpayments.com/wealthycowboyThe Wealthy Cowboy Mastermind:https://www.skool.com/the-wealthy-cowboy-mastermind-1608/about

He fell back into rodeoing and riding some outside horses in college and then had an opportunity to go work for a guy that was building a horse program and that job allowed him to also day work and ride other outside horses. Heston was living the dream doing this but he realized it wasn't sustainable. He started keeping an eye out for other opportunities and of course he found one. It came in the form of running a feed store with the intention of ownership one day. Although it didn't work out like that. Jason Jacoby started out farming and ranching but always keeps his eye out for opportunities. As you know you usually find what you're looking for so he has found many new opportunities. It started with a feed mill which transformed to a feed company and feed store that delivers feed all over the country. Since they were raising cattle that provided high quality beef they decided to open a cafe and sell their own beef there as well as selling it out of the freezer. If you grow through the small town of Melvin, TX you'll most likely see the Jacoby's operation so be sure to stop in and try out some beef and visit for a while.
