You can dismiss them as told by folks with great imaginations. You might even call them liars. Most people do. If you're like me though, there is always that nagging question you ask, but can't get an answer to. That question: What if it's True?

A Monster Took Her Away From HImRobin, born in the late 1950s to hippie parents, grew up on a communal farm in California. Facing frequent police scrutiny and societal rejection due to his unconventional upbringing, he found solace in his relationship with Sky, a girl from a prominent local family. Despite her father's disapproval, they spent their teenage years together, culminating in a camping trip in the mountains after high school graduation in the early 1970s. During the trip, their camp was disturbed by strange noises and missing food, and on the third night, a large, ape-like creature attacked, knocking Robin aside and abducting Sky. Despite his efforts to chase them, Robin lost her trail and was later found by police. Charged with Sky's kidnapping and murder due to lack of evidence supporting his Bigfoot encounter, he was convicted after a brief trial where he defended himself, leading to 48 years in prison. Haunted by Sky's memory, Robin endured isolation, sedated stints in a mental health facility, and ongoing grief, maintaining her image through his artwork and tattoos for fellow inmates. He remains incarcerated, yearning for Sky and hoping she did not suffer.Join my Supporters Club for $4.99 per month for exclusive stories:https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/what-if-it-s-true-podcast--5445587/support

My story took place south of Bear Mountain in La Flore County. My husband and I had a three-year-old and were tired of the hustle and bustle. So, for my birthday, he surprised me with an empty shell cabin on the mountain. We both loved the outdoors. Even though I am a little lady, I still like to go hunting, hiking, and any other outdoor activity to prove I'm as good as the best of them. It was fitting that my husband moved me to this beautiful mountain. My husband drove a truck six months out of the ear, leaving me alone, but we both felt safe making the move. Our cabin was finished in time for winter, which was right around the corner. One day, my son and I were home alone. It was about dusk, but still nice and warm outside. While my son played in the baby pool, I sat on the porch with a cup of coffee and enjoyed myself. He and I always heard things like knocking when we were outside, but we were in the woods after all, and I have always been open to anything new out there. As we were sitting there, we heard growling and laughter. That was no ordinary forest noise, so I went and got my Ruger. When I came back, my son was pointing to the burn pile, saying, “Boogie Man!”I froze. There at the burn pile stood four Bigfoots. The male was at least eight feet tall. Next to him was a mother and two younger ones. She was holding one of them as she squatted next to the pile and gnawed on an old ham bone. The other young one had his hand on his mother's shoulder, staring at us in disbelief, just like we were staring at him. The stench coming from them was so strong that I almost lost my cookies. “They need a bath,” my son blurted out. I burst out laughing—out the mouth of babes, as they say. I never did raise my pistol, but the big guy kept his eye on it, so he must have known what it was. After that experience, I started leaving more food out by the burn pile. Nothing much, just scraps from a hunt or apples and things. We never saw them again, but we could hear them in the woods still and knew they got our gifts. Oddly enough, they would leave us gifts in return. A stack of rocks they built for us was still there when we left the cabin years later. My son is thirty now, and my husband is gone, but I will never forget my time on that enchanting mountain. Even though my son says he doesn't remember, I'm glad for the time we had with our forest neighbors.Join my Supporters Club for $4.99 per month for exclusive stories:https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/what-if-it-s-true-podcast--5445587/support

Bigfoot and BoogaladamooshIn the early 1980s, my family and I lived in a big old house in the little town of Saint Leonard, New Brunswick, Canada. It was a two-story home built in the early 1900s. My father bought it from a man who was reluctant to sell it, but had no choice. My father had done some renovations on the house, but mainly on the first floor. The second floor he had left as it was. At the top of the stairs, there was a full bathroom, and left of the bathroom was my parents' room. Down the hall was my bedroom, and beyond that was my little brother's room. I was a bit of a scaredy cat. Being young, I was unable to sleep in the dark. So my mother would leave the bathroom light on and my bedroom door open. One night, I had awoken from a deep sleep. I wasn't prone to waking up in the middle of the night at that age; it was more like something woke me up. I looked down at my feet, and sitting on the footboard of my bed was a hideous creature. It had white horns and large, yellow, bulging eyes. Long fangs protruded from its mouth, and its small hand had claws that seemed to be digging into my footboard. I screamed, jumped out of my bed, and ran to my parents' room, completely hysterical. My father was a man's man and didn't care for this sort of behavior from his son, but when I described what I saw, he seemed concerned. My parents turned on the light in my room and looked around. My mother checked on my little brother, who was fine. And I got to sleep with my parents that night, something my father didn't really usually permit.I was wary of going to bed for a while, but I never saw it again. Years later, my parents told me they were concerned when I described my nocturnal visitor, because one of my father's uncles described seeing the exact same thing out in the woods a couple of months earlier. Apparently, there was a group of these sorts of creatures that chased my great-uncle out of the woods. They terrified him, and he died not long after that event. Fast forward to 1994. I was attending the University of Maine at Fort Kent, and I had the honor of knowing a man named Guy Frigon. He was a shaman of the local First Nation tribe of Maliseets. Considering that some members of my family are of First Nations descent, I decided to ask him about what my great-uncle and I saw. Mr. Frigon listened to my story as we sat in the student lounge at UMFK. He said, “Well, you saw a Boogaladamoosh.” Mr. Frigon went on to tell me that my great-uncle had somehow offended them, and that's why they chased him out of the woods. He went on to explain that they were similar to what Europeans would call elves or gnomes. He was uncertain as to why one would have visited me, since I had nothing to do with the offence my uncle committed. Mr. Frigon guessed that it may have sensed I had shamanic abilities. He went on to invite me to a sweat lodge, and that I would possibly get the chance to see them again. I assured Mr. Frigon that though his invitation was generous, my faith wouldn't allow any such thing. I thanked him for the invitation, though, and for the wisdom he imparted. I, nor anyone else in my family, has ever encountered this sort of being ever again. In 1975, living in rural Connecticut, a young woman heard a monkey-like sound and experienced strange phenomena, including consistent tree knocks during walks with their dog in the woods. They later discovered cougar tracks, which their mother confirmed but was disturbed by a strong smell at the tree-knock site, hinting it might not be from a cougar but possibly a Sasquatch. Years later, after moving to a new area, the narrator saw a large, blondish-furred figure in a new housing development, which they believed was a Sasquatch. In a nearby state forest, they encountered a similar foul smell, heard a deep howl, and later photographed what they believe are Sasquatch-like creatures, including juveniles and adults with varying human and ape-like features. Despite close encounters, the narrator was unharmed but noted an aggressive Sasquatch threw a rock at their car. They also mentioned three mysterious deaths in the forest, suggesting a possible connection to these creatures, which they believe are numerous and present even in populated areas.Join my Supporters Club for $4.99 per month for exclusive stories:https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/what-if-it-s-true-podcast--5445587/support

A former ranch owner in Temecula, California, describes a life-changing epiphany about Sasquatch after years of dismissing their existence. Living on a property with fruit trees and two large dogs, the narrator initially believed Sasquatch were confined to northern forests, not Southern California. However, after an accident left them bedridden, they became engrossed in Sasquatch-related videos, including one about two marines encountering a 12-foot Sasquatch at Camp Pendleton, just nine miles from their ranch. This triggered a realization that unexplained events on their property—silent nights, missing fruit from tall trees, a vanished coyote corpse, and their fearless dogs acting scared—could be linked to Sasquatch activity. The narrator recalls other suspicious incidents, like a military helicopter warning them while flying near the ranch, missing people along De Luz road, and a supposed DEA raid that seemed more like a cover for tracking something else. A conversation with their excavator, who was warned by a doctor about Sasquatch on a nearby property, and stories from workers about "monsters" at the border eating migrants, solidified their belief. The narrator now believes Sasquatch inhabit the nearby Cleveland National Forest and may prey on border crossers, reflecting on how close they might have come to encountering one while patrolling their ranch at night.Join my Supporters Club for $4.99 per month for exclusive stories:https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/what-if-it-s-true-podcast--5445587/support
Staying at This Cabin Was a Big MistakeIn the mid-1960s, a financially struggling family from Ely, Nevada, was offered the use of a friend's ramshackle cabin in the Great Basin near Baker, Nevada. The isolated, one-room cabin lacked electricity and running water, with minimal furnishings like plywood-covered bed frames and a makeshift dining table. Despite its condition, the family—parents and four daughters—enjoyed their stays, cherishing the wilderness, a nearby creek they dammed for a pool, and a playful badger that raced their car. They hiked to an abandoned garnet mine, though the garnets were small and rough. In 1971, after staying with their grandparents, the daughters were excited to return to the cabin. During the drive, they teased their mother about Bigfoot, prompted by a National Enquirer article, unaware of her unease. Upon arrival, they found the back door violently torn off and the interior littered with leaves and mud, which they attributed to careless hunters. They cleaned up and stayed, but their mother remained anxious, staying awake all night by the fire. A sudden wind gust during a light snowfall heightened the tension, flapping a plastic sheet covering the doorless entry. The family left the next day and never returned. Years later, in 2020, the now-elderly mother, bedridden with dementia, revealed to her daughter a terrifying incident from a previous cabin visit with her husband, when they were alone. Something large and heavy circled the cabin at night, trying doors and windows, causing intense fear. They fled at dawn, seeing a tall, shadowy figure zigzag through the trees. The mother's fear explained her anxiety during the 1971 trip, especially seeing the damaged cabin, yet she stayed to avoid disappointing her daughters. Years later, she and her husband found the cabin in worse condition, with both doors torn off and the heavy iron stove ripped out and discarded in a ditch, an act difficult to attribute to humans given the remote location and the stove's weight. The family's experiences left a lasting impression, blending fond memories with an unsettling mystery.Join my Supporters Club for $4.99 per month for exclusive stories:https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/what-if-it-s-true-podcast--5445587/support

Reading from: Lay Your Armor Down - Michael Farris SmithAn old woman, riddled with dementia, walks off into the woods in the middle of the night. A light in the wood draws her to a campfire with two strange, dangerous men, one young and one old, who are there plotting a crime of as-yet-indeterminate purpose. The two men have a job to do. They are hunting something precious but have only been told: you'll know it when you see it. When they arrive at the place, an abandoned church cellar in the burned-out countryside, they find an answer they never could have predicted. Now, the job feels dubious, one that'll surely bring them to ruin. Yet if they're to go against orders, no step can be undone, and nothing can be taken back.In spare, imagistic prose, Lay Your Armor Down reduces the epic to its most elemental. It charts the course of several broken people, all outrunning danger's dark fingers, and all brought together for one last chance at redemption.https://www.amazon.com/Lay-Your-Armor-Down-Novel/dp/031657337X/ref=sr_1_1?crid=1I4CV497KSFRF&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.eWPHY_YbPVBDxLaFsW8F7LBFePkq_lQBLjAGgJK_2eVgBw-g3IB0RORNCQSBofWd.tptTpfuD8hj4EJZc5JYkAcxhxhFBwDxGXXBRvwRwx5E&dib_tag=se&keywords=lay+your+armor+down+by+michael+farris+smith&qid=1754411626&sprefix=%2Caps%2C207&sr=8-1Join my Supporters Club for $4.99 per month for exclusive stories:https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/what-if-it-s-true-podcast--5445587/support

Brothers Outrun BigfootIn 1976, three brothers—Mike, Harold, and Scott—hiked along Old William Penn Highway, a forested road, to meet girls in Garden City, Monroeville. On their way, they encountered a foul smell, like a dead animal, which unnerved them. After meeting the girls and heading back at midnight, they felt watched. As they walked, something large moved through the forest, paralleling and then approaching them, causing panic. They ran, but the entity kept pace, eventually overtaking them. Mike screamed after seeing a tall, furry creature crouching near the road, watching them. Terrified and in shock, the brothers struggled to reach their car and drove away slowly. Mike described the creature as over six feet tall, covered in fur, and curiously observing them without attacking. The experience left them traumatized, avoiding nighttime hikes and carrying firearms for protection thereafter.Join my Supporters Club for $4.99 per month for exclusive stories:https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/what-if-it-s-true-podcast--5445587/support

Framed for a Bigfoot CrimeA former convict prohibited from using firearms, went bow hunting for deer in Ohio after a heavy snowfall. While tracking a wounded 14-point buck, he followed its trail with his brother-in-law's bloodhound, Lovebug, until the dog refused to proceed out of fear. Continuing alone, Bobby found where the buck had died, but it was gone, replaced by large, barefoot human-like footprints. He followed these tracks for hours, eventually discovering a thicket with the buck's remains, surrounded by various-sized footprints and a human skull. Realizing he was in what he believed to be a Bigfoot den, Bobby took a photo, grabbed the buck's head, and fled after hearing a roar. He reported the findings to authorities, who investigated and found more human remains. Bobby was detained for 12 days without charges, questioned repeatedly by federal agents who insisted he claim a bear took the deer. Eventually, he gave the “correct” answer to secure his release, but his buck's head was confiscated for hunting violations, and he lost his job. Convinced of Bigfoot's existence due to the footprints, roar, and scene, Bobby shares his story despite believing the government is covering up the truth.Join my Supporters Club for $4.99 per month for exclusive stories:https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/what-if-it-s-true-podcast--5445587/support

War of the SpeciesA photographer ventures into the Five Ponds Wilderness in upstate New York with friends who are hunting deer. While his friends hunt, he aims to capture wildlife and scenic shots with his new 1200mm zoom lens. After hours of hiking and photographing, he encounters an eerie silence in the forest, followed by mysterious footsteps. He discovers a small, fur-covered creature he initially mistakes for a human child under attack by large, wolf-like creatures. Firing his revolver, he fends off the attackers, only to face a massive, wolf-like humanoid. In a desperate struggle, he kills the creature, sustaining severe injuries, and rescues the small being, which he realizes is a young sasquatch.Returning to camp with the injured sasquatch, he faces another attack by wolf-like creatures and humanoid "wolfmen." A sasquatch group intervenes, engaging in a fierce battle with the wolfmen, allowing the photographer to survive. He tends to the young sasquatch's wounds, and its parents eventually retrieve it, showing gratitude. His friends, however, are missing, and he later discovers their mutilated bodies, killed by the wolf-like creatures. Traumatized, he spends time in a hospital and psych ward, with authorities dismissing his story as a delusion, attributing the deaths to wild dogs and a bear attack. Despite evidence supporting his account, he is pressured to stay silent.Haunted by nightmares and unable to resume normal life, he returns to the wilderness eight months later, seeking closure. He encounters the young sasquatch again, now healed, and establishes a tentative bond with its family. Leaving food offerings, he finds peace in the wilderness, hoping to coexist with the sasquatch and escape the horrors of his past.Join my Supporters Club for $4.99 per month for exclusive stories:https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/what-if-it-s-true-podcast--5445587/support
Massive Bigfoot Stalks Alabama HunterIn December 1996, in northwest Alabama, a man went deer hunting on family property after work. He settled into his tree stand, but the woods became eerily silent, prompting him to leave. As he walked along an old log road, he heard heavy footsteps on the ridge above, mimicking his own. Despite clear visibility, he saw nothing. The unseen presence tracked him, getting closer, and another noise approached from the creek below. His uncle's dog appeared, then fled in fear. Suddenly, a deafening, unearthly scream erupted from the ridge, paralyzing him with fear. He eventually fled, with the screaming continuing until he crossed the creek, where it stopped abruptly. Traumatized, he shared the experience with friends who dismissed it as a coyote, but he was convinced it was something unnatural. Though he loved those woods, he never hunted there alone again.Join my Supporters Club for $4.99 per month for exclusive stories:https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/what-if-it-s-true-podcast--5445587/support

Bigfoot Stalks American IndianGrowing up in a Native American community, the narrator was taught about Bigfoot as a fundamental part of life, akin to basic safety lessons. This cultural knowledge emphasized coexisting with Bigfoot by avoiding interaction, a practice rooted in an unspoken agreement to mutual non-interference. As a high school senior living in a rural, wooded area, the narrator experienced a chilling encounter one night while walking home. They detected bipedal steps pacing them in the dark, a presence that became more assertive as it deliberately made louder noises. Using a passing vehicle's headlights as a distraction, the narrator sprinted to escape, only to hear a tree limb snap loudly ahead, signaling Bigfoot's dominance and control over the territory. The encounter profoundly impacted the narrator, reinforcing the Native perspective of Bigfoot as a powerful, sentient being that communicates through energy and actions, much like humans. The broken limb was a deliberate statement of superiority, reminding the narrator of their vulnerability in Bigfoot's domain. This experience, described as more intimidating than facing a bear or wolf, underscored the Native understanding of navigating Bigfoot's territory with respect, akin to passing through a gang-controlled area where one is seen but allowed to pass unharmed by choice. The narrator reflects on this event as a humbling lesson in coexistence, highlighting the creature's ability to assert its presence without direct confrontation.Join my Supporters Club for $4.99 per month for exclusive stories:https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/what-if-it-s-true-podcast--5445587/support

Grandmother Called in a BigfootMany moons ago, on the Glover River in McCurtain County, Oklahoma, my grandparents were at a fishing spot they called the Big Hole. They were busy catfishing when they heard a yell from up the river. For the fun of it, my grandma decided to mimic the sound and yelled right back. Not long after, they heard a huge splashing from up the river coming toward them, as if a large animal was quickly approaching. As the splashing sound got closer, they started feeling uneasy and decided to pack up and leave. My grandma went ahead to the truck to start it up so they could get out faster, and heard some leaves rustling in the woods next to her. She rejoined my grandpa to help with the packing, and once they got everything loaded up, they saw a huge shadow in the trees. They didn't wait around to find out what it was and got out of dodge. She's told me this story many times throughout my life, and I've always figured it was Bigfoot. But I never paid any mind to what the yell could have been until this weekend, when I visited them, and played the Ohio howl recording. I had gotten her attention, and she called my grandpa over so he could hear it, too. My grandparents both said it was just like the sound they heard that day they were fishing at the Big Hole. Little did they know at the time, they had a near encounter with Bigfoot.Join my Supporters Club for $4.99 per month for exclusive stories:https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/what-if-it-s-true-podcast--5445587/support

Police Confirm BigfootIn July 2010, a city police officer in Spencer County, Indiana, experienced an unsettling encounter while staying alone at a friend's house on a large, forested property. Late at night, while unpacking on his day off, he felt an eerie sense of being watched. Dismissing it initially, he continued his tasks with his sidearm on. However, the situation escalated when a rock struck the front window, prompting him to grab his shotgun and step onto the porch, suspecting trespassers. There, he spotted a large silhouette at the tree line, roughly 40 yards away, standing nearly eye-level with him despite the elevated porch. As a seasoned officer, he was accustomed to high-pressure situations, but this figure left him frozen and unnerved. The encounter lasted only seconds, with the figure snorting loudly before retreating into the woods, its departure marked by the sound of breaking branches. The officer felt no direct threat and chose not to aim his weapon, sensing the figure's curiosity rather than hostility. Unable to sleep, he later drove to his station and met a county deputy who casually mentioned reports of a large figure in a ghillie suit in the area, referring to it as a recurring presence. The officer learned of similar sightings nearby, including reports four and six miles from his location, suggesting the mysterious figure was known in the region, possibly a local legend or unexplained phenomenon.Join my Supporters Club for $4.99 per month for exclusive stories:https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/what-if-it-s-true-podcast--5445587/support
Mt St Helens BigfootIn the mid-1960s, Butch's fascination with Bigfoot began after overhearing his father's conversation and reading an Argosy magazine article about 1930s gold prospectors in Ape Canyon near Mount St. Helens, who encountered curious but non-threatening Bigfoot creatures, culminating in a violent boulder-throwing incident after one was shot. This sparked a lifelong passion for Bigfoot hunting with his father, including camping trips south of Mount St. Helens where they heard tree knocking and whoops, and visits to local prospectors in Cougar, who confirmed peaceful interactions with Bigfoot and shared stories of the Ape Canyon event. Decades later, Butch and his father continued their pursuits, observing Bigfoot-like creatures and even hyena-like dogs in the Cascades, while Butch's own camping experiences, including pranks by a large-handed creature, reinforced his belief in the diverse, elusive, and generally harmless Bigfoot varieties across North America.Join my Supporters Club for $4.99 per month for exclusive stories:https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/what-if-it-s-true-podcast--5445587/support

Bullet Proof BigfootIn Southern Virginia, a 14-year-old and his friend encountered terrifying creatures during outdoor activities. While archery hunting, they spotted what seemed like a bear cub, but it stood upright, snarled, and fled, leaving the friend traumatized. Years later, while fishing and checking trail cameras, the narrator, now 6'7" and 240 pounds, encountered a ten-foot-tall, brownish-blonde, hairy creature. When it charged, he fired #4 buckshot, but the pellets seemed to bounce off. The creature roared as if speaking and retreated into the forest. Both incidents left the narrator and his friend unwilling to return to those areasJoin my Supporters Club for $4.99 per month for exclusive stories:https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/what-if-it-s-true-podcast--5445587/support

Bigfoot Looks HumanA Native American woman, accustomed to solitary wilderness adventures, recounts a vivid encounter from nearly 20 years ago at a crowded beach in northeastern Washington. While kayaking with family, she lingered alone offshore to eat lunch and felt uneasy. Spotting a tall, handsome man with silver-tipped body hair watching her intently from the shore, she initially mistook him for an elderly human. As she paddled closer, she realized he was not elderly but a striking, eight-foot-tall being, naked and covered in glossy hair, exuding intelligence and a human-like presence. Despite his non-threatening demeanor, he vanished into the trees, and she later noticed a figure tracking her from a distant mountain. After sharing her story online, she faced ridicule but connected with others through Bigfoot forums, insisting the being was a man, not an animal, and seeking others with similar experiences.Join my Supporters Club for $4.99 per month for exclusive stories:https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/what-if-it-s-true-podcast--5445587/support

Bigfoot Brawl - A Fight For Alpha StatusAn 89-year-old veterinarian recounts a lifelong secret of his encounters with a Sasquatch family, beginning with his mother's sighting of a large, hairy creature during his birth. As a child on a farm in the deep South, he befriended a young Sasquatch he named Buddy, and they played together in his backyard until his deaf mother's terrified reaction to seeing Buddy and his mother led to a fence being built, ending their visits. Decades later, after returning to his hometown as a veterinarian, he reunited with an adult Buddy, who took him to a Sasquatch colony to assist with a difficult birth. There, he witnessed Buddy defeat the Alpha male to protect his mate and newborn, becoming the new leader. Over time, the man maintained a bond with the Sasquatch, even introducing his wife and children to them, fostering a unique connection between their families, which he now shares as he nears the end of his life, hoping for a reunion with Buddy and his loved ones in the afterlife.Join my Supporters Club for $4.99 per month for exclusive stories:https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/what-if-it-s-true-podcast--5445587/support
